Zander...Oliver? ...Zander. Zander walked into the pool area with a heavy sigh. He'd once again taken the safest route to put himself in public AND sabotage any chance of meeting anyone by coming when he knew the least people would be there. Not that very many people EVER seemed to frequent this area. Even so he had to be careful or he might make friends which would ruin this totally awesome loner thing he had going.

He placed his bag on the table. A small gray puppy sat beside it, clearly the ever vigilant puppy warden of his goods. 'I have and never will understand the human desire to get your fur soaking wet..' Freki said with a sigh. It was true that Zander knew dogs hated water but he didn't bother to ask for specifics. He was sure the mutt would just try to get him to believe something ridiculous anyhow. And even then it might just be a trick to see what Zander would believe.

"Don't pester me while I swim.. I don't know why you even came.." Zander said slipping off his shirt. Eying the small number of people with a satisfied smile.

'I have been observing your behavior with the other furless and I am distressed by your lack of alpha male ability. I came in person to help you achieve better results. No pup of mine is going to wander around as the gopher of the pack.'

Zander eyed the wolf for a moment and shook his head. "What does that even mean?"

'Since human females lack a good winter coat or shiny fur what is it furless alphas like in them?'

"...." Zander glanced around. 'A good muzzle and a thick mane, that's the best in human females for me..' Zander said sarcastically.

'Good, I'll go find you one.' Freki yipped then wandered off.

"Ah! no.. I was..Ah.. .. Why did I say MANE?!He gonna brign back a bearded lady.." He said facepalming. He turned and planted his hands in his sides. Now down to his trunks. He was almost eerily devoid of scars and scratches. His musculature was very small, but he wasn't fat. Rather he just looked like a scrawny guy. Despite his training his muscles never seemed to get large leaving him much less impressive than his military allies. Not only that but he was fairly light skinned.

But that was fine. People in Japan had creme colored skin! It was a good trait!

Zander glanced next to him to a muscular tanned guy. "Gh-" He turned his head. 'Is he really Japanese..?!' He sucked in a breath puffing out his chest a bit. "Sup." He said to the guy trying to hold his breath AND talk a bit deeper.

Despite being the typically self-isolating person she was, Setsuna often found no better place to reflect than around strangers. She never felt like she stood out in a crowd and it was hardly different than being alone. At the same time there was much more to look at and to listen to around others, almost like watching nature. She found a grim humor in the fact that she considered watching ordinary people akin to watching a nature alien to her own, but the relaxing effect was the same nonetheless.

Given the time of day, Setsuna wasn't the least bit surprised to see it wasn't heavily occupied and there were even fewer actually in the pool. The edges of the pool were lined with chaperons and older couples staying out of the water. Then of course there was the obvious regular lying in a chair he'd brought himself decked out with a small radio, headphones, his own umbrella and an ice chest. She couldn't help but smile at watching these people comfortably enjoy their habitat.

Setsuna stepped carefully barefoot across the wet edges of the pool, her body swimming in a long t-shirt she covered herself with that waved back and forth excessively with each step. Her legs poked out endlessly from the edge of the shirt, the tanning lotion making them glow in the warm sun. Setting her things down at the nearest empty chair, she reached down, easily slipping the dress-sized shirt off as it fell in a heap onto the chair and uncovering her swimsuit.

The sun felt warm on her skin as she managed her way to the stairs, enjoying the shimmer of the water and smell of chlorine that came off it. Setsuna put in a careful leg, watching the ripples run away from the disturbed water and her reflection stare back at her with warped features. "Perfect." She commented, the temperature of the water not too cold to prevent her from settling in nice and slow. Just as she began touching the face of the water with her toes, Setsuna looked up to spot Zander on the other end of the pool, his chest puffed out exaggeratedly as he sized himself up to a larger man.

She pressed a finger to her mouth to suppress a giggle, finally letting both legs sink daintily into the water. The sudden cooling sensation was a bit much at first, sending goosebumps running up her back. Setsuna shivered slightly, letting the sun continue to warm her up as she watched the spectacle. "I'm never going to let him live this down." She said. Looking to see if anyone else was watching, she suddenly noticed a small, adorable puppy walking by her along the edge of the pool. Her eyes followed him with a certain childlike interest as he wandered on by as if on a mission.

"How cute," she said with a giggle, "hey there little guy." Setsuna called to it, waving to get his attention.

It's times like these I feel a butler is a good thing to have... Selene thought as she left the locker room and entered the public area of the pool, dressed in a white linen robe; and as soon as the corporate heiress appeared, two men in business suits and sunglasses approached Selene from her left and right flanks, with the bald one on her left holding an umbrella over her head for her and the one with short black hair on the right carrying the bag containing her personal effects for her.

Ayup, a butler would be a lot less conspicuous, Selene thought as her gaze wandered over to one of the Frostfire bodyguards shadowing her, their position in the company denoted by a brass lapel pin bearing the Frostfire Industries sigil. The Briton's thoughts drifted back to a couple of nights ago during the grand ball where she met that young lady representing Phantomhive Services. Perhaps, she should contact Ms. Phantomhive one of these days to discuss hiring a Phantomhive butler? If there are any butlers who could also be considered S-Class like Rihito, it would have to be a Phantomhive butler.

"All right, over here," Selene pointed towards a table next to a folding chair, gesturing the bodyguard who carried her bag to place it there. "I don't think there's going to be any trouble at this point," Selene said as she looked around. "So just keep an eye out on my belongings and try to look inconspicuous, okay?"

"Aye, Ms. Frostfire," the two bodyguards replied in unison as they walked away from the pool area into the shade of a nearby cloistered walkway, keeping a watchful eye on Selene and her personal effects. It wasn't quite the season for swimming yet as far as most folks were concerned, but today was comfortably breezy, and at the same time with a fair amount of sunshine to make things pleasantly lukewarm.

The redheaded Briton untied the wrap around her robe, slipping it off her shoulders to reveal her swimsuit. Folding the linen robe, Selene draped it over the back of the chair before stretching out a bit to warm herself up, at the same time enjoying the comforting touch of the breeze and sunshine upon her face and body before making her way over to the poolside.

"Hello, what's this?" Selene gave her exclamation of mild surprise as she noticed from the other side of the pool a familiar face. Was that none other than Zander, that boy she met at the dorms? Grinning, Selene slipped into the pool, crossing the gap between herself and Zander by swimming. A slight splash marked Selene's arrival as the corporate heiress poked her head and shoulders above the water's surface, beaming at Zander just as Setsuna began to address the boy.

"I say, for a shy guy like you going swimming at a public pool is quite unlike you!" Selene remarked, giggling slightly before looking at Setsuna, and a puppy who was curiously at the poolside. Strange, Selene thought - didn't this establishment have a no pets allowed policy? Or perhaps it was a pet of someone rich and powerful - after all, when one has money, one can often disregard rules and policies, get the enforcers to look the other way. But there was no doubting it - that was one cute puppy! Selene remembered how one of her relatives was a dog-lover, and that she kept some of the finest pedigrees on her estate.

"Oooh! Cute!" Selene gave a girlish squeal as she literally jumped out of the water like a dolphin, leaving Zander conveniently ignored for the time being as she looked at Setsuna. "Wow, whose dog is it miss?" The Briton asked the purple-haired girl as she looked about, trying to locate the pup's owner.

Zander glanced away from the unresponsive guy. Clicking his tongue in frustration/. "A tan and muscles aren't so great.." He muttered to himself. However as he looked away he noticed Setsuna... Talking to Freki..? She mist have a thing for puppies. At least he'd distracted her from seeing Zander with his chest all puffed out like and idiot. He sighed heavily before taking a moment to admire the way that swimsuit fit her. He coughed a bit. 'It's.. Not bad..' He thought, looking away rubbing his chin.

However suddenly he was drawn out of this 'admiration' by Selene. He leaped back, his eyes widened in shock. "Tch! My god!" He said clicking his tongue and shaking his head. Her teasing tone was perfect for digging right past his typical defenses. Not only that but the swimsuit was once again shocking to his senses. Rather than fighting back he could only praise the people whose job it was to design these things. It was almost like they were gifts to mankind.

"Who said I'm shy, just because I don't want to hang out with you..?" He said with a bored expression, this was his counter teasing. He sat down on the side, sliding into the water. "I just avoid people in most cases.." He said with a shrug of his shoulders. He turned to face her and noticed she was gone. Joining Setsuna in cooing over Freki. He'd completely missed his chance and wound up talking to air..

"Tch!" He spat turning aorund and holding the edge of the pool. 'My abilities are seriously lacking.. I lost to my own dog..'

'YOUR dog?' Freki shot back.

'Yes, MY dog. Stop beign so showy. It's ANNOYING with these women around.. I wanted peace and quiet..!'

'... oh? Are you sure you didn't want to do this?' Freki said before climbing into Selene's lap and curling up.

'I'll fuckin' kill ya'.' Zander said in yakuza voice.

'Bring it on.' Freki shot back.

To all observers Zander was just glaring intensely at a dog with killing intent.

Setsuna looked over at the source of the voice that joined her. The girl was a rather pale looking foreigner and her accent stuck out in her tone. This was a bit of a bother, she had come here meaning to watch other people mingle, not to mingle herself. If this girl made her part of the scenery then she couldn't possibly relax properly. Backing out of the pool slightly to sit on the edge, she slid a small distance away from the dog in an attempt to keep herself separate from the foreign girl's fawning.

"Ah, I don't know who's dog it is, I was just waving at while it walked by." Setsuna glanced over at it slightly as it watched the two of them. "Could be anyone's, I'm sure the owner is around, or maybe looking for it, you should look after it just in ca-" She was interrupted as it suddenly hopped into her lap, curling up affectionately at if they'd known each other forever. Setsuna blushed slightly at the cuteness of it, forgetting for the moment that it was the exact opposite of what she wanted.

She sighed in defeat, coming back to reality and placed a dry hand on it's head. "I guess it probably isn't a stray if it's this used to lying on people's laps..." Setsuna lowered her head, the warm feeling of the sun on her exposed back suddenly feeling less inviting and more irritating. Her gaze wandered helplessly to the distant Zander, not really expecting help so much as hoping for a comforting familiar sight. However, such was certainly not the case as his expression appeared aimed at her.

Setsuna started a bit, unnerved by the malicious expression etched on her acquaintance's face. Had she done something wrong? Clearly she was getting in the way of something he'd been doing too. Her own expression weakened a bit, feeling vulnerable under such a intimidating stare. Zander had seemed like such a calm person before, but this sort of thing did happen when you bothered someone enough...Boy he really looked pissed.

"Ah, I don't know who's dog it is, I was just waving at while it walked by." The purple-haired stranger replied as she glanced over at Freki and Selene. "Could be anyone's, I'm sure the owner is around, or maybe looking for it, you should look after it just in ca-" Before Setsuna could finish, the puppy suddenly ran towards the purple-haired girl and jumped into her lap in a display of canine affection, and if she hadn't said the dog wasn't hers, it certainly acted as though it was her pet, bringing a grin to Selene's face.

"Well, I think he likes you!" Selene giggled as the puppy jumped into Setsuna's lap, and noticing the blush coming to the purple-haired stranger's cheeks as the puppy attempted to get her attention as it jumped onto Setsuna's lap. It occurred to Selene that the other girl probably came here to find some time alone, judging from the way she responded to the Briton's unexpected intrusion, so to speak. But it seemed that a cute little puppy was what it took to break the ice as Setsuna accepted her fate and stroked the little pup on the head.

"He's certainly quite the friendly one," Selene added as she sat down at the pool's edge, dipping her legs into the water. She had little doubt that whoever was the dog's master, he or she must have taken good care of this one to foster in it such a trusting and friendly demeanor, that it was happy to nuzzle up to strangers as long as they looked friendly.

And it was there that Zander looked in the two girls' direction, and for reasons the Briton couldn't fathom, the boy looked angry as he gave that death stare of his which seemed more befitting of a gunslinger or Yakuza member than a high school boy. Selene looked at Zander in the face, following his line of sight which led to Setsuna. "Pardon me, Zander... but what's with the death stare?" The Briton asked in mild surprise, unused to seeing Zander with that expression which was quite uncharacteristic from his earlier unassuming and awkward stance.

'Yes Zander Explain the death stare.' Freki said with no end to his delight.

"...Ah..." Dammit! He'd been caught in a hard place once again. How was he supposed to keep the Sekkou secret if he told that he had a hyper intelligent magical wolf. The only way to prove it would be for Freki or Zander to henshin. But if Zander transformed into his Sekkou uniform their memory would just be wiped. That was IF Zander was even WILLING to blow his cover over this, which he wasn't. He was rather proud of his ability to keep secrets entrusted to him and wouldn't so callously toss them aside just to avoid minior inconveniences like this.

And the other option was is Freki transformed... Freki wouldn't transform. He was enjoying this too much leaving him no proof for the statement 'Freki is a magical dog who it harassing me.'

...Boy that sentence carrier many levels of embarrassment. That he COULD be harassed by a dog, that he WAS, that a dog was all it TOOK. He sighed planting his face into his hand as he looked down with a twitch of frustration. With the truth ruled out as an option he only had lies. Well, in this case just go with the simplest one right? A good agent knew which assets to burn and when. On the priority scale Selene and Setsuna were less important than burning Freki. "It should be obvious why I'm glaring.. Because you people annoy me. Please stop harassing my mutt while it's trying to take a piss, eh?" He said in a nonchalant voice, clicking his tongue in annoyance.

'I understand you had to lie to protect my secret but you didn't have to go that far..'

'With as much as they know me that is a conceivable scenario.'

'Yes but it's unnecessarily harsh to them!'

'They will not be wounded by my words. Selene already believed me to be... unpleasant. She'll just confirm to the other how rude I am and Setsuna will extrapolate it from our encounter. They will be annoyed but it's hardly my problem..'

'You can lie to everyone but me. I know that you regret doing this so why go straight to a harmful lie?'

'The situation that our actions put me in forced me to lie! All lies are harmful.'

'... I admit i put you in a bad spot but you're the one whom glared so obviously! ... Tch, it's no excuse. I behaved like a pup, teasing you like that. Even so, if you always default to harmful lies you'll only create misunderstandings. No one can read your mind. They can't understand when you say something to protect them or yourself..And the intention behind a lie cannot prevent it from spreading the poison of misunderstanding through everything it touches.'

Zander lifted himself from the pool holding his hand out for them to give him back that mutt. It was annoying, seriously annoying! This stupid obligation to the Sekkou which had forced him to carry more secrets. How was he supposed to be honest when he was forced to lie even more? More importantly he'd hoped to establish some sort of friendship among him and these people... Obviously this could never happen if he had to keep being rude to cover up his own dumb actions.

Setsuna looked up at Zander, wincing slightly at his words as if she'd been stung. Her face showed her vulnerability for a moment, but in her mind it was clear that he had only been being nice when they'd met on the roof. At that time, she was getting in his way too, but Zander had put up with her anyway. Now she was making trouble for him again; it was reasonable for him to act this way. Setsuna's face quickly tightened up, her expression dull and uncaring as she picked the puppy up from her lap and set him in Zander's arms. Why couldn't she have just stayed in the background like she was supposed to?

Setsuna quickly stood, formally bowing slightly towards Zander with her hands resting on her knees. "I'm very sorry for causing so much trouble for you." She quickly leaned back up and turned carefully on her heel, walking back towards the chair where she had rested her things.

Your vulnerability was obvious, if you make him think he hurt you, you'll only make more trouble for him.

Shut up.

You're always relying on others to apologize or to pick you up when you're in pain, is it really worth being such a burden?

Shut up, I don't have any other choice.

You do. You know you do. I've shown it to you. I'm the only one who's ever shown you another way.

Shut up!

The dark shard remained silent again as she sat down in her chair, lowering the umbrella slightly to cover her head. Was it too awkward for her to even consider staying here? Setsuna considered leaving, but she really needed this place now. Reaching into her bag, she pulled out a pair of sunglasses and returned to watching the assorted masses enjoy their pool-day shenanigans. So long as she remained quiet, she wouldn't get in anyone's way. All Setsuna needed to do was lose herself in the crowd again, it wasn't as if she'd expected someone she only met once to instantly be her friend.

"It should be obvious why I'm glaring.. Because you people annoy me. Please stop harassing my mutt while it's trying to take a piss, eh?" Selene blinked at Zander's statement. Now that was unnecessarily harsh; where previously the Briton thought Zander was a reserved sociophobe, she was beginning to think that he was an antisocial little bugger.

"I'm very sorry for causing so much trouble for you." The purple-haired stranger replied as she bowed apologetically, eliciting a stammer of disbelief from Selene. Trouble? As far as the corporate heiress was concerned, she and the other girl were just minding their doing their own thing when his dog came by seeking their attention. And he actually said that they were disturbing his dog? The Briton was needless to say offended by the groundless accusation made by this tactless young man, but she wasn't about to respond to an arse by being one herself.

"Your dog?" Selene smirked as she she looked up at Zander. "Well then obviously you hadn't been giving him the love and attention he needs if he were to run around seeking affection from strangers like that," the corporate heiress fired off the first volley of barbs at Zander. Tit for tat. And to further rub it in Selene got down on one knee to pat Freki affectionately on the head, cooing playfully. "Hello, cutie! Has your master been neglecting you?" Selene 'spoke' to the puppy as she leaned in close towards Freki and picked him up, briefly nuzzling her forehead against the puppy's nose before setting him down, giggling slightly.

This was in most part due to Selene's upper class upbringing, but being raised among the highborn of society had cultivated in the young Briton the kind of backbone that meant she took no crap from others. Someone who is kind at heart, but makes it clear to others not to take her kindness for weakness.

"Anyhow," Selene continued, her tone sounding more serious this time. "You may be able to circumvent the No Pets policy, but I think you're still going to get in trouble with pool authorities if your pup actually pisses around here. Although that still brings me back to my point earlier... you should keep a closer eye on your pup, you should learn to establish a closer bond with your pet to know what it wants." That being said, the Briton knelt down to give Freki another gentle pat on the head and massaging the pup's head from behind his ears, running her fingers through his fur in a display of masterly affection.

Well, Selene had intended to shoot Zander with the barbs of sarcasm, but come to think of it, the Briton realized that she still came off as being far kinder than she originally intended.

'Boy aren't you getting the royal treatment..' Zader sent to Frekii but got no reply. The fact Freki was enjoying himself to the point of not having the ability to reply actually pissed Zander off more. He was receiving a guilt trip and a tongue lashing while the mutt that caused it all was all but being massaged in a spa. It was quite the reversal of fortunes and more than a little annoying to endure silently. He knew, though, that enduring it silently was what he had to do.

Saying anymore at this point would only serve to complicate matters. He'd burned an asset.. that was all.. Because he'd successfully made a clean burn there'd be no mess or fuss later. This was exactly how it should be. Still.. It was surprising how affected she had been. He wasn't expecting her to particularly care. Like Selene, her reply had been pretty standard. A calm dressing down from the offended party. But Setsuna's reply was rather emotional..

Perhaps he'd underestimated the impact a single encounter could have.. he supposed casual friends were formed in such time. And then to be immediately treated oppositely.. Well, yes it was annoying. Zander felt the same way but he didn't have any way to excuse his actions without trying to explain Freki. Once again he could only curse the irony of trying to be more honest while collecting more secrets.

"If you want the stupid mutt I'd let you have him if I could.." Zander said with a frown. "Unfortunately I'm stuck with him.." He said folding his arms on the side of the pool with a frown and resting his chin on them. "Shouldn't you say something to her? She's going to waste the day moping at this rate.. Besides, you're still interfering with my ability to spend the day on my own.." He said with a dull monotone.

Selene giggled as Freki clearly appeared to enjoy the affection the corporate heiress lavished upon him. Although it didn't seem to please Zander... but then again, that was sort of the thing Selene was going for. And this was when the boy spoke again, frowning. "If you want the stupid mutt I'd let you have him if I could.." Selene stopped playing with the puppy, looking up at Zander, cocking her head slightly to one side as she studied the boy's face. "Unfortunately I'm stuck with him.."

"Well, if you put it that way..." Selene remarked as she gave Freki a final massage behind the ears and stood back up to face Zander eye to eye. "The way I see it, it sounds as if you care a great deal for him. But can't find the right words or actions to express your feelings." The young Briton looked wistfully at Freki.

"But you might want to make up your mind soon - one thing we always take for granted is that we think the people we care about will always be around for us to talk to, for us to tell them how much they mean to us..." Selene looked up at Zander. "Otherwise, one day they could be gone and there's a lifetime of regret for not saying what you always wanted to say." The Briton's thoughts wandered briefly to Jameson. He was a changed person when she saw him again during the Kingdom Hearts incident, that was for certain. But just how had he changed? She didn't know, and she probably never will.

"But anyhow," Selene's voice became more cheery again as a smile crossed her face once more. "Now that I've given you something to think about, I think I'll leave you to your thoughts!" The corporate heiress' smile widened into a grin before she turned around and sauntered over to one end of the pool, diving smoothly into the water to take a swim from one end of the pool to the other, letting Zander take some time to digest what she had just told him... or not.

Zander looked to Selene with a blank expression. Her words seemed tempered by a lot of intelligence. She really seemed to understand what she was talking about.. He took a deep breath and watched as she swam away. "Thanks.. I guess.." He said in a low voice. He didn't really know how to react to that. The only person whom had consistently forced his opinion on Zander was Jameson, and it had always been for his own good in the long run.

Still.. He had a feeling she wasn't talking about Freki.. He glanced back to the wolf pup and smirked a bit. 'Boy aren't you a lucky mutt..?'

'You're lucky as well, to have met such a level headed lady.'

'... I still don't see a solution..'

'You're looking at things too linearly. Can't you tell the truth without revealing the secret? Is withholding information lying? Would it be lying if you told her you jsut can't tell her..?'

'What reason would she have to believe that? It's absurd to take someone at their word when their that vague.'

'No, it's trust. And it's the foundation of a real friendship.'

Zander eyed the dog before letting out a heavy breath. Even if he'd decided he wasn't going to run over there right now. That wasn't his style. Besides.. He felt like he wanted to think on it a bit longer before doing anything. He still had a lot to learn about interactions between people. He had underestimated her reaction to his first lie and it caused a huge bothersome situation. The second time he'd make sure it went better....

BUT HOW?!
