Zander planced his hands on his sides as he looked around the grounds leading to his dormitory. A co-ed dormitory was something he didn't much care for. Whether or not there were girls or boys didn't matter to him because in truth he didn't want to live near ANYONE. Your home should be your oasis. Not some place where you're forced to deal with the messes and frustrations of others. Still.. He WAS trying to be a bit more friendly and approachable.. Rooming with others might teach him how to better deal with people. Like not choking them! A valuable lesson he might eventually learn. He pressed the doors open and stuck his head in. First mission was to check out the commons. The shared area where the media center, printing station, and other basic utilities to be shared by everyone was provided by the campus. For super poor students it was their only source of entertainment since they couldn't afford tv's and games and such in their rooms. For Zander it might be a quiet place to get away from his roommate. Despite these places being provided they were rarely used. After all the students could all just hook up T.V.'s in their room. Rarely was someone so poor as to be without a basic comp or T.V. So this place would likely be a ghost town. A perfect place for Zander. A place where he was alone but not isolated. In other words a place where he would be by himself but could lie and say he was trying to meet others. Self-sabotage was practically his hobby... He wandered down the halls of Yuki towards the new place, carrying his laptop under his arm. "Well at least it's quiet so far.." |

Selene walked down the hallways of the Yuki dorms, towards her dorm unit with a school bag slung over her left shoulder, her footsteps echoing softly. This was the first time the Briton set foot in the dorms since she returned to the restored Hyakuji. One of the first things Selene actually had in mind when she first returned home was indeed to check things out at her dorm unit, only to run into a Frostfire Industries executive informing her of an upcoming gala event later in the evening, apparently having been sent by her father to inform the billion-dollar princess that she was to attend. And so it came to be that she would find herself ushered into a waiting station wagon and brought to one of the most high-class beauty saloons to have her hair styled, a high-end boutique to pick up a ballgown that her mother had specially ordered to be tailored for her, and over the next several hours before the evening function to get dolled-up for the big event, leaving her with no time to catch up with her friends. By the time the whole event was over the corporate heiress found herself so bushed that she simply booked a suite in the Imperial Hotel to spend the night, and only returning home to Yuki dorms the very next morning, still wearing the emerald ballgown she had on during the evening function, which she couldn't wait to change out of. With a click, Selene unlocked the door to the dorm unit, looking into the living area - everything was as she had left it before the Heartless onslaught, the personal belongings of her and her roommates still left the way they were when they headed for class. "Hello what's this?" Selene muttered to herself as a boy walked past her, prompting the young Briton to turn her head in his direction. Selene only managed to catch sight of Zander from behind, but she could tell this much that the boy wasn't someone she knew before, nor one of the new Hyakujians she befriended during the Kingdom Hearts incident, like Erin and Yumi. And the Briton was always happy to see a new face. Selene quickened her steps, catching up next to Zander. "Well, a good morning to you, good sir," Selene used her most refined Oxonian accent and pleasant smile. "Are you new here?" She asked, without considering how odd it must have been to suddenly see someone in an expensive-looking ballgown, looking more like a princess than a student walking down the hallways of a school dorm. |

Zander slowed as he heard steps behind him. He turned, sharply, to see what it was coming up behind him. However how could hep possible have expected someone like a beautiful Briton in an extravagant dress. He blinked dumbly in complete shock towards the girl. His mouth hung open a bit as he stared at her in utter shock. After a moment he reigned it in, trying very hard to regain his composure. He shifted, placing his hand over his mouth as he narrowed his eyes and looked away from her. She really was extravagant, someone like that emitted their own aura that a person like Zander was intimidated by. He was an operative who existed in the shadows, he spent his whole life trying desperately not to be noticed so someone who not only allowed themselves to be noticed but indulged in the shining radiance of being beautiful were as foreign to him as possible. So foreign he actually missed his cue to speak. He coughed a bit adjusting his stance as he continue to walk towards the commons. "I'm new, yes." He said abruptly. He didn't really know what to say or how to act. At times like these it was the perfect moment to listen to his mentors.. "When someone greets you they are probably working an angel. If you're being inconspicuous as I taught you to be they have no reason to greet you. Clearly they want something. gauge the source of their inter-" Well.. THAT mentor was useless.. "WHEN A PERSON SAYS HI IT'S IMPORTANT TO SAY HI BACK! MOST IMPORTANTLY ASK THEIR NAME! The long goodbye is a missed hello! It stretches out in your heart, it becomes a regret! So never hesitate! "... Jameson quite being redicu-" "When you miss an opportunity in life, it could be your last. Each chance you have to enjoy the temporary warmth of another persons smile is something to treasure. Don't treat people like you did me. They won't all make the effort to be your friend like I did. If you don't want to be alone then you'll have to bridge the divide between hearts through your own efforts!" "...I don't understand your logic at all....." "I'm Zander.." He said calmly. "I just started here recently. which is why we haven't met before." He glanced over to her with a level expression, anticipating her reply. This was the first step towards developing bonds between individuals. This was the sacred ritual repeated hundreds of times in a persons life that created the door to entering another person's world. Exchanging names, introduction, familiarizing yourself with another person. |

Selene couldn't help but giggle at Zander's initial expression, a demure, ladylike giggle with a gloved hand raised in front of her mouth; but how could she blame him for acting that way? It was however upon observing the way the boy reacted that Selene realized how out of place she must've appeared in her current getup, standing here in the hallways of a school dorm. Selene kept her pace with that of Zander's, as it soon became clear where the boy was headed - the commons. "I'm new, yes." Came the boy's curt reply as he adjusted his stance. Selene guessed he was one of those introverted types, judging from his awkwardness. The Briton huffed inside her thoughts - at least he was showing awkwardness instead of being abrasive, her memories taking a trip back in time, one year ago about a certain boy she kicked in the face. After a brief moment of silence which felt uncomfortably long for Selene, the boy finally spoke, his voice now clear and calm. "I'm Zander..." Selene smiled upon finally learning of his name. Of course, this only meant it was her turn to complete the introduction. "I just started here recently. which is why we haven't met before." "Well met, Zander," Selene replied, not letting her radiant smile fade. "I am Selene Frostfire, second year student. It's an honour knowing you." The Briton would've finished the introduction with a curtsy, but she's had enough upper class formalities already the night before, and it appeared that if she stopped to perform a curtsy this Zander guy would simply continue to walk on and leave her behind, making her look like a fool in the process. Of course, which could only mean she'd be punching or kicking him for that - and the Briton had been reminding herself since last year to keep her cool even when dealing with abrasive individuals. "So Zander, what brings you to Hyakuji High?" Selene asked, deciding to start with an ice-breaker. Every student who enrolled in Hyakuji High had their own story to tell - whether it is to develop their supernatural gifts, to escape from persecution, to find themselves... and that was always a good conversation starter around these parts, or so she believed. |

Oliver had to admit, the brittish accent was kind of appealing on some sort of primal level. "I was told it was a good school for us. I just figured that even if I don't have long to attend I could enjoy it for a while.. Besides. I might have a job here soon so it would be good to have a head start on learning the ropes..." Zander said in a very plain tone. The best cover story wasn't entertaining or particularly interesting. It was bland with just enough details to be believable. The more complex you made the lie the more you risked exposure, but if you made it too simple it sounded fake. Mixing fact with fiction expertly was just another thing he had learned. Still.. For building friendships it felt awful to lie. He really hated being this way, but it was his job. He had a responsibility to his country and his mother. He couldn't keep this up forever, eventually he'd separate from this 'identity' he had here or from his job. Which it would be depended on if after he distanced himself from Jameson and Cypriss' deaths he could still justify being in this life. If not he'd just have to break away... Somehow.. It felt rather impossible. Between medical bills, tuition, and cost of living how could he afford to? He'd figure it out then. For now he just had to find out what his heart felt. And a big part of that was opening up to others and really experiencing friendships. "And you?" He said turning his eyes to her, a sharp smile cutting across his features. "More importantly what's with the party-night-barbie outfit?" He said with a small laugh. Edited by Cypriss, Apr 5 2010, 10:46 AM.

The two weren't alone. Or something. Lorenzo appeared, turning a corner just ahead of them. He was dressed in a black suit, with a pair of comfortable leather boots. His tie hung loosely from his neck. He carried a bag and his jacket over his shoulder, his hair was unkempt, amazing that the hat he wore still managed to stay on, and from his back pocket, a pair of black gloves looked as if it was about to fall off. Spotting the two, he straightened up, but the weariness in his eyes was evident. He was up most of the night, filling up last bit of paperwork and whatnot at BOARD, and then getting issued his suit. But he's willing to ditch it now for a pair of sweatpants and a hoodie and his bed. "Hello you two. Um...Miss Frostfire, am I correct?" He said. How he knew, well, he saw it that some event for the rich was going on in his daily dives into the blogosphere and news media, and he caught her name and picture as well as a bio-blurb put forth by the news site. He forgot that she was going to Hyakuji for school. |

"I was told it was a good school for us. I just figured that even if I don't have long to attend I could enjoy it for a while.. Besides. I might have a job here soon so it would be good to have a head start on learning the ropes..." Zander replied plainly. "And you?" Zander asked, bringing a grin to Selene's face. The Briton was wondering when he'd ask about her. "Me?" Selene's eyes glimmered with enthusiasm as she rested her right hand on her chest. "My parents chose Hyakuji High as an institute of learning for me to enroll in so that I may develop my abilities and skills as both an heiress to Frostfire Industries, as well as a successor to the magical powers of the Frostfire family." While Selene wasn't one to brag, talking about anything pertaining to Frostfire Industries makes her aglow with pride. "More importantly what's with the party-night-barbie outfit?" Was that a laugh Selene heard from him? The Briton chuckled at Zander's question. "You might have heard about it - there was some grand reception for the rich and famous over at Imperial Hotel last night. Being a big player in the global market it wouldn't come as a surprise that Frostfires were one of the invited guests," Selene answered Zander's question as to why she would be seen in such an extravagant ballgown. "Of course, I was pretty knackered by the time the whole thing was over, so I spent the night at the Imperial before returning here to my residence in Yuki dorms," she continued, pointing to her dorm unit which was several doors down. "Hello you two. Um...Miss Frostfire, am I correct?" Selene turned in the direction of where the greeting came from, and caught sight of another boy, dressed in what appeared to be a disheveled suit, a hat resting lazily on his head. "Aye, Miss Frostfire indeed!" Selene beamed at the newcomer, a sunny smile on her face. It was nice for a change to hear someone call her by her name instead of having to have her introduce herself. But then again, given the status of the Frostfire family she shouldn't be surprised that there would be many who already knew her name. "But I would prefer to simply be called Selene." The Briton curtsied towards Lorenzo as he approached. "So, may I know the name of this young gentleman that I have the honour of meeting?" Selene asked as she looked at Lorenzo. |

I sure am dead beat. These crazy heartless and nobodies. Luckily, it's all over. Now it's all back to normal. Well, almost. My entire family is still in Gensokyo. And that means, I have no pocket money from now on. Great, I need to find a few job tomorrow. By myself. I am not going to trust those stupid crazy jobs Aunt Koizumi introduces, not ever again! But now, it's time for me to moved into my new room, heard I will be sharing the same room with Selene-Chan. Well, I sure am happy about that. Well, after a few days in Gensokyo to catch up with my family, here am I, back to school. Well, at least now I will not be meeting any Magical Girls who can summon Mystical Female Knights and Dragons... wait, Selene-San can do that... Oh well, at least except from Selene-San, I would not be meeting any Magical Girls who can summon Mystical Female Knights and Dragons, neither would I meet other crazy things like Genius, Aeromancers, Vampire Queens, Kamen Riders, Espers, Electromancers, Pyromancers, Time Travelers, and people whom can create cloths out of thin air. How wonderful, a normal, simple school life. As I walked into the dorm I saw Selene-San. Dressed up like a princess. Oh well, she must have been attending some events on her family's side again. She doesn't usually wears such things. Hmm... there's two guys with here, I think I should go say hello. "Hi, Selene-San, it's been a while, how are you? I am your new roommate." I greeted my friend, "and hello, my name is Kamu." I turned towards the two guys and smiled. "Nice to meet you, I hope we can be friends, and enjoy a simple and normal high school life." Well, I can only hope that all will go well. May fate have mercy on my destiny, at least give me a normal high school life, no more crazy stuffs. |

"...Selene Frostfire..?" He said surprised. SO this girl really WAS rich and not just playing house with a dress she spent too much on. Well, he shouldn't have been surprised. That dress probably cost more than his yearly salary. However this did leave him with a few questions. However before he could ask them some guy appeared from nowhere who seemed to know Selene... or not considering her reply. So how was it one way..? Unless he was a crazy OCD nutter who knew every rich person in the city Zander would have to assume he was a crazy stalker. He moved a bit to position himself between the heiress and the boy. "Yeah, let's start with a name kid.." He said in a calm voice. It was his natural instinct to protect Selene because she was rich and therefore the sort he'd be assigned to protect on a mission. Not out of chivilry. However after a moment he realized he was slipping into his mistrusting militaristic mindset. Urgh! What would it take to calm his nerves and help him not be constantly mistrusting of everyone?! |

Lorenzo smiled and nodded as Selene introduced himself. But unfortunately some other girl came in and tried to get Selene's attention, then the boy stepped forward with that oh-so-chivalrous attitude. Rude, reminded him of the wannabes, the Ranger washouts and the cocky guys in bootcamp who claimed they'll be joining Delta. Yeah, the author controlling Lorenzo isn't really liking the fact the boy went and jump the gun when all he's doing is waiting for his turn to post in the post order, but he should really stop breaking the fourth wall like this. Lorenzo narrowed his eyes and stared at the boy. Who was he to assume like he was lord of everything. That or he's Selene's bodyguard. "Schrodinger, Lorenzo Ruiz. Without the umlaut in my last name. Fourth Year here. I recognized you and your family from a very flattering fact check on the BBC, among other sources." He said, still staring at the boy, who reminded him so much of those cocky guys in boot who eventually humbled up. You see, real SF guys know how to interact with people. It's part of their job, to be friendly with the local populace they're working with to turn into insurgents against a larger enemy force. But eh, back in his other life, being a Ranger also meant he looked up to the Delta guys, he was already seen as weird for being an electromancer, let alone one that served in the military when others made a killing in the private sector. "And who are you, and I doubt yer old enough to call me 'kid' dude, so chill." He asked, directed at the boy, in a slightly contemptuous way. He is all fine being civil, but sometimes a hard wall needs to be met with something as similarly hard. Like a battering ram on an APC. Edited by Jusuchin, Apr 6 2010, 11:09 PM.

"Hi, Selene-San, it's been a while, how are you? I am your new roommate." Boy did that voice sound familiar. "Kyonka-chan," Selene smiled and waved at the approaching girl, nodding as Kyonka introduced herself. "Well, it's a surprise to see you move into Yuki dorms though." the corporate heiress quipped before turning her attention back to the two guys, and from what she could see Zander seemed pretty stunned to learn about her name and identity. Even in a school for gifted youngsters, it is still not a common thing to see scions of big-time corporate CEOs, and by now Selene was getting aware of how much attention she appeared to be receiving when Zander positioned himself defensively between her and the other boy. "Yeah, let's start with a name kid.." the boy spoke calmly. Selene almost facepalmed at Zander's tone and choice of words - the way he confronted the other boy was almost reminiscent of the bodyguards her father used to assign to escort her around before her high school days. Every now and then she'd run into someone who knew something about her over social networking sites and blogging circles, and it was apparently the job of the men in suits to question them and - where necessary - send them scurrying home. "I say, there's no need to get all confrontational about it!" Selene replied as she pushed herself forward, positioning herself between Zander and Lorenzo like a referee trying to separate two boxers from wrestling each other. "Schrodinger, Lorenzo Ruiz. Without the umlaut in my last name. Fourth Year here. I recognized you and your family from a very flattering fact check on the BBC, among other sources." The other boy introduced himself, although he still kept eying Zander even as he spoke. "Why, I am honoured to hear that, Mr. Schrodinger," Selene smiled as she gave Lorenzo a slight nod. "And who are you, and I doubt yer old enough to call me 'kid' dude, so chill." "Right you are," Selene added, trying to defuse the situation with some humor of her own. "So I'll say, what better way for us all to chill at this morning hour than a good pot of English breakfast tea and toasted crumpets?" Upon finishing her statement Selene stepped back and flashed Kyonka and the two guys the most radiant million-dollar smile she could muster, typically reserved for prominent events like last night's posh reception, followed by a flourishing gesture towards her dorm unit. Zander frowned a bit before looking away with his arms across his chest. At least the story made sense and was worth believing. For now he'd give it the benefit of the doubt. More importantly he didn't want to be some knightly character who acted impulsively. He had no side in this battle so there was no reason to force himself to take a side out of an idiotic sense of duty and obligation that didn't actually even exist in reality. He glanced around as they spoke, reading the flow of conversation and allowing the others to talk. "I'm Zander Winston." He said idly. However his mind was drawn back to his encounter in the forest. Well.. it was his name, no matter what that stupid wolf said! It was his name.. He felt like it was his name but maybe the wolf had a point. It was just further compounding his issues... He sighed heavily and tried to shake it off. For now he'd just play it by ear. 'It would serve you well to think deeply on the matter, rather than glance over it..' 'Just leave me be, Freki..' He thought back. "Breakfast..?" He glanced to her. "That raises an important question. Why are you here? Why aren't you in some fancy mansion eating maid cooked food and living it up..? If I had the kosher life of an heiress I wouldn't bother living in dinky places like this.." |

Hmmm... these two guys seems to be in a rather bad mood. What if they got angry and start a fight? Better not antagonize them. And better keep a distance until they cool down. Who knows, if they start a fight, I might get hit accidentally by one of them. I am just a weak little girl, I am not taking any chances. Oh, did Selene-San mentioned breakfast? Wait... wait a minute. Just wait a minute! English Breakfast Tea? Toasted Crumpets? "Selene-Chan!" I complained, "these are expensive! Can't we have something more common, like white bread and plain water?" Well, as I had mentioned, I am rather broke. |

Lorenzo chuckled silently at the boy's response. Well, you get all kinds. Then finally he saw the other girl. Perky little girl. Truth be told, he was rather hungry, he hasn't eaten anything since lunch yesterday. The fact Selene put herself between them just made her laugh a bit. "No harm done ma'am. Dealing with security is something I expected when a heiress like you ends up coming to a school like this." He said, and almost as a response to the boy about his rather biased view of the rich. "Well, this school is a good jumping point for a lot of successful people, and they accept everyone, rich, poor, white, yellow, black, esper, etcetera. Maybe her parents decided she had enough of that fancy stuff. Besides, not saying anything bad Miss Frostfire, but your father seems to understand the Paris Hilton effect. All that richness without hard work and you end up like the aforementioned girl, living it up with just a high school GED to her name, and nothing better than that. Not implying you are or your family are like em. At least, if that interview your father gave with Forbes is any indication." Great, dig yourself a greater hole Lorenzo, he thought to himself, as he started to stammer at the boldness of his response to the boy. It was as if he was naturally inclined to argue with him. |
