"I've heard that name before," Hiro began in answer to Loto's question, "It's a really powerful Clan of demons. Mages that have had even a little bit of formal training like I did are warned against summoning them or trying to make pacts with them. But I should look into more first..." Hiro let his words trail off in a hint of contemplation and worry. "Yuki," Hiro continued, "If you are my servant now then take the box and Orb into the back room and then go upstairs and store it in my apartment. I don't want them out and accessible for anyone in the store, okay?" "Yes, Master!" Yuki called cheerfully as she scooped up the Crimson Orb and the box Loto had set on the counter and then happily skipped off in the direction of the back room. It was something Hiro would have to get used to. "Now," Hiro continued, "What about your parents?" |

"Well it all begins on my little trip to the demon realm. I came across a group of demon slayers, and well things got weird. People in the group claimed to have seen me before when I was an infant. That is when I ran into my biological parents. At first I didn't believe them until they showed me baby pictures of when I was just born. Not only that they had a birth certificate and all the legal paper work. They then said they sent me to my foster parents due to me not wanting to grown up in life and death situations." Loto stopped there as though he was letting Hiro wrap around the brain what he had said so far. He then looked towards the backroom as if checking to see, if Yuki was coming back yet. "For two years I trained with the two of them, and began to understand some of my own abilities. My father was good with the sword. His skill is probably greater than that of the greatest swordsmen alive today. My mother though I'm not sure what she is exactly. You see she seemed to have elemental powers, but she was using what seemed like incantations with them. In all the time I've had my ability to control fire, and the time spent at the elemancer tower. I've never come across any books about elemental incantations. I was wondering if you could clarify, if she might of been a mage who specialized in elemental magic perhaps." Loto stopped again, but there was a trouble look on his face this time. The look was of uncertainty and doubt of one’s own capabilities. It was as if the next said of words had weighed heavily on his mind. "I was also wondering since I have the genetic structure of both my parents. Then shouldn't my own abilities be similar to my mother’s? I mean could she have used an incantation on me to change my abilities? I'm just not sure what I'm capable of doing any more Hiro. After seeing my parents in action I feel like I should be stronger." Loto then looked at Hiro, as if he was looking for some sort of guidance in the matter. If his mother was a mage then what did that make him? |

"Hrm," Hiro pondered as he mulled over the words Loto had spoken, "Well... if your mother was a Mage then I'd think those same powers would be flowing through you as well. A lot of the strongest magical powers in the world are held by ancient families that have had generations of wizards from their line each one reaching the peak of their power and passing it down to their children to be improved further." "That's actually the reason I took so easily to Magic," Hiro laughed softly as he began to pace a little explaining, "I didn't know it when I was young but my ancestors were also powerful wizards and Magic-Users. If she used Elemental Magic but you were unaware of this... natural talent could've had them manifest themselves as things you could automatically do without understanding the Magic behind it. That could be misread as Elemancy." "While they're similar," Hiro almost sounded as if he were lecturing a class by this point, "Elemancy and Magic are two very different things. Elemancers have a natural affinity for their element and can control it with their own might. Sorcerers tap into supernatural energies and create the elements. While Magic might be more diverse... I don't think any Elemental Mage could be as defined and precise as a skilled Elemancer at their respective element." "I dunno if any of that helps," Hiro laughed as he shrugged his shoulders, "But maybe that's a starting point to look into. I could loan you one of my basic books on Elemental Magic if you want and you could work through it... see if anything in it resonates with you..." |

Loto listened carefully on what Hiro had to say about his circumstances. It all made sense that his body might of been looking for an outlet, and hence any magical energy he had formed into fire. It was at least worth giving it a shot, and seeing what happened. Though there were some other questions he suddenly had. "Hiro do you think an elemental mage could give birth to an elemancer. What I guess I’m trying to say is, if the magical energy was strong enough to naturally be in aliment with an elemental affinity. Could an elemancer be born that way? This thought also just sort of came up. From what I know most Mages uses incantations for their magic. Do you think an elemancer could strengthen their own techniques by using an incantation?" Loto placed his hand on his chin, as he closed his eyes. It would seem that he had entered into a deep thought pattern. A few seconds would pass before he opened his eyes. "Well it wouldn't hurt to give that book you offered, and give it a look over. Who knows it just might have the answer to my questions, or at least give me an idea of where I stand on things." It was better than wandering around in circles. Plus it never hurt to try a new method, or a different view point on the matter. He was just hoping this book would resolve matters he had within himself. |

"Hrm," Hiro pondered for a moment, "Stranger things have happened so I'm sure it is feasible. Maybe your Mother's affinity for the elements attracted some powerful Fire Elemental and it called out to you before or at birth... there's possibilities to support either origin for your powers..." Letting out a sigh of confusion Hiro Tsukasa exited from the front counter and wandered into the back room. He was gone just a few minutes before returning clasping a old weathered tome in his hands, the book bound in a blank mark-less cover. Reaching out he handed the book towards Loto. "Here," Hiro said cheerfully, "It's a very basic starter to Elemental Magic. It also talks a bit about Elemental Spirits which could tie into the possibility of you being an Elemancer rather than a Wizard. There's no need to rush it back to me... I have the kind of stuff in there memorized like the back of my hand." |

Loto could see the confusion on Hiro's face, as he left for the backroom of his shop. He could understand Hiro's confusion, as he himself was confused at this point about the origin of his abilities. Waiting a few minutes Loto notice the return of Hiro with the book that was mentioned. Taking the book from Hiro, Loto noticed the wait difference from a normal book. "Hiro if this is the beginner’s volume. I hate to see the more advance ones, as this one reminds me of a dictionary. No wait, make that two dictionaries. Don't worry about me rushing it back. It just might be a few days for me to read all of this. I think I have a book at home on basic elemancy, so I can do a comparison. Hopefully that might lead to a link between the two, and provide some sort of answer. Then again if there is a coming elemental listed I just might need to talk with it, as it might be able to clear things up." Loto placed the tome on the counter with a thud. He didn't know how Hiro carried such a thing with such ease. All he knew was that this book and any others he had at home could provide answers to his questions. Hopefully he wouldn't run into any dead ends. |

"I have faith in you," Hiro laughed softly as he waved goodbye to several of the workers slowly filtering out of the store. It was almost closing time and people seemed to come in far more often just to browse or seek Hiro's services rather than actually make purchases. "If anything weird occurs or you run into trouble just get in touch with me," Hiro continued, "But I don't think you'll have any problems with such a basic tome. You should also go talk to the people at the Elemancer Tower and see what they say about your issue." |

Loto taped his finger n the tomes cover as he contemplated what Hiro was saying. "That is presuming there is any one at the tower to ask. Just because it was rebuilt doesn't mean it’s occupied." Loto picked up the tomb again tucking it under his arm. It was apparently close to the shops closing time, and he didn't want to keep Hiro from closing on time. There was also no longer a reason for him to be around the shop. After all he had made his delivery, and got at least a starting point to a possible answer. Stopping in front of the door Loto looked back at Hiro. "If anything comes up, or I need your help I'll be in contact." He remarked before opening the door, and leaving the shop. He had originally walked in with a box, and walked out with a book. It was a rather odd feeling to be back in Hyakuji, but his visit to the tower would have to wait till tomorrow. It was getting late and he had a long trip home, since he lived in the suburbs of Hyakuji. He just faded into the evening crowd, as he began his trip back home. |

"Keep in touch and good luck with figuring things out," Hiro called after Loto. Now that the shop was empty Hiro exited the front counter and moved to lock the front door and turn off all the lights. Closing time was particularly easy since his apartment was merely on the second floor of the building. The Scarlet Clan. A Demon for a Maid/Servant. Loto's own struggle for the origin of his powers. It seemed like slowly but surely things were starting to get very interesting again. As he worked his way into the back room and began to head upstairs Hiro wondered if these things were a precursor to something bigger on the horizon. "But really," Hiro let out a soft sigh mumbling to himself, "What the hell am I supposed to do with a demon maid... hum..." |
