Star laughed, leaning her head back against the tree. She turned towards Meglumar, a grin on her face as she noticed his crushed expression. "Meglumar," she said, leaning closer to him with a smirk on her face. "I was joking." She pulled back a bit and shifted position, pulling her knees close to her chest and resting her hands on them.

"Well of course I meant me," she continued. "How many people as awesome as me do you know? None! Because I'm one of a kind!" She giggled at the end of her sentence, turning around to face him. As she did, her expression became serious, a small smile on her face. It was a genuine smile, one that came from something more than just amusement.

"I really like you, Meglumar," she admitted.

She didn't know when she first realized that. Maybe it was that one evening on the tower in Traverse Town, when she almost fell to her death. Getting saved from something like that wasn't something she could just forget about after all. Or maybe it was that night in Niwa, when she felt discouraged and Meglumar had assured her that she saved a world. How about that night after Shinya, when they formed their empathic link? Or maybe it was the final fight against Xemnas, where they finished everything.

Did it matter? It had happened. She didn't know how long it would last. Her track record wasn't exactly impressive, but she would take whatever she had.

Meglumar stared at Star for a moment before facepalming. She played him like a card. Like a piano. Like one of those video games at the arcade. "That....Was not funny." A tad bit unhappy at Star's little game, but at the same time grateful to at least hear that she liked him as well. He smiled back at her. "And I really like you."

This girl. from the moment they had met she had been slowly becoming an interesting person in his life. A friend who helped him adapt to a foreign world. A friend willing to help him return home. A comrade in a war. A trusted confidante with whom he shared even what he felt. And now, a girl whom he was willing to defy his people's beliefs for. This was going to be...very very different. But hopefully worth it.

The sun finally set completely on the horizon. The day was done, and now night would take it's place. The next day, things would be very different from the day that had just ended. Meglumar looked up at the sky. "Ah. A good omen. The Stars here are just as amazing as the ones at Kara."

She could feel the last traces of sunlight disappear over the horizon. It felt like a lingering touch on her skin, slowly fading away as the last sunlight disappeared. It wasn't fully dark yet, she could still feel traces of light in the surrounding area, but for all intents and purposes, evening had come. The stars would be out soon. She turned her eyes skyward as the first star appeared in the sky, a small smile on her face as she identified it.

Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight, I wish I may, I wish I might, have the wish I wish tonight... she thought to herself, going over the rhyme she had learned as a child. She made a wish quietly, keeping that one to herself.

"Why thank you," she said with a giggle when Meglumar talked about the stars, inching closer towards him so that she could lean her head on his shoulder. The early evening was one of Star's favorite times of the day. It was probably the only time she was calm, at least on a regular basis.

The stars hung in the sky above them, and for the first time since Florencia, Star was fully content.

Meglumar could not help but make a small chuckle at what Star said. "You are welcome." He said, as Star put her head on his shoulder. It was calm now. It was quiet, peaceful, and serene. And it was a great thing. He lightly placed his hand on Star's.
