Character Name: Ayane Isuzu
Gender: Female
Age: 19
Height: 151 cm
Weight: 55 kg
Description or Image of Character Appearance:
Posted Image

Occupation: Student/Manager at Abenobashi Arcade/Invader Hunter
Grade Level: Sophomore
Powers/ Abilities:

  • Gate of Gale. Ayane has the ability to "open a gate," which means that she can use wind-elemental magic from another dimension. However, she detests using this ability and will avoid using it unless absolutely necessary. In addition to her personal distaste of the ability, its use will slowly but surely rob her of her body. Extreme use will eventually kill her completely... or so she believes from observing the effects the Gate had on Reiji. Despite having vowed to seal the ability away she ended up using it once more and has now expended her safety margin. While exactly how much 'safe' use is left isn't something that can be measured, it's likely that using the Gate of Gale even once more will cause irreperable damage.
  • Gate Full Open. This is an extension of Ayane's Gate ability, but one which will bring every ounce of energy her body can handle into being for one strike. Rather than the relatively small gate created when she uses her normal ability, this one is much larger and more powerful. However, due to its very nature she can't afford to use it except in the most extreme of extreme situations. Its use would greatly increase the strain on her body, and in its unpredictability could very well finish her off the very first time she opens it. It was this ability she used ineffectively against Kamen Rider Kuuga... and thus sealed her fate as a Gate Keeper for good.
  • Minus Gate - Gate of Void. Another extension of Ayane's Gate Keeper nature. During the events of the dimensional disturbance, Ayane's Dark alignment brought this ability to the forefront, marking the first time it appeared. A Minus Gate is a Plus Gate (or just 'Gate') that has inverted due to its user's hatred. Unlike the widespread destructive potential of the Gate of Gale, the Gate of Void works much more efficiently to remove her target from the space it occupies. Or, more accurately, it removes the space they occupy as a whole. As long as she doesn't use her Gate having it turn to Minus shouldn't be a problem... but since emotional instability gives birth to Minus Gates in the first place, the possibility looms over her...

Equipment You Have:

  • Cell phones/Laptop. Now back in their proper dimension where the AEGIS Network exists, these devices are both communications relays as well as weapons. The cell phones are equipped with a system designed by Ayane herself that allows them to convert electrical energy into "Imitation Gates," false gates that imitate the abilities of many known Gate powers. These are not nearly as strong as the Gates they imitate, but for small areas or single targets they work well. After one use of an Imitation Gate, the cell phone is destroyed. The laptop is equipped with a Paranormal Frequency sensor, and can also link with the cell phones to create an Imitation Gate of Sealing. Due to excessive (ab)use, AEGIS has restricted her use of the Imitation Gate System to pre-approved instances and areas of high IPW saturation only. See below for a list of her available Imitation Gates.
  • M-Phone. While she has no clue what it does, this odd phone was the only item to survive interdimensional displacement, apparently mingling in with the rest of her cell phones.

Imitation Gate List:

  • Red Fire Gate. The most basic of basic offensive Gates, it spews fire in a thin stream for a short distance.
  • Lightning Gate. While primarily used as an offensive function, it can also be used defensively depending on power setting. At maximum, it creates a storm of lightning that will arc across any conductive surfaces nearby. At minimum it projects a field of charged particles, useful for shocking sense into people.
  • Explosion Gate. The most powerful offensive Gate, it literally converts electricity into raw Gate energy then spews the resulting Gate energy in all directions.
  • Steel Wall Gate. The core staple of defensive Gates, it projects a barrier ahead of the phone that can protect its user for roughly 30 seconds. The interesting thing about a Steel Wall Gate is that without using the laptop to coordinate, phones set to use Steel Wall Gate can combine to form a multi-faceted barrier. The 30-second limit remains, but in that configuration it can protect a wider area.
  • Recovery Gate. A crude implementation of the Gate of Life using the Imitation Gate system. It can counteract poison gas and heal minor wounds (cuts and scrapes), but a mere cell phone doesn't have enough energy for it to be useful in healing the truly injured.
  • Illusion Gate. A Gate that causes anyone looking into the Gate when it activates to see their worst nightmare. The effects are only temporary, perhaps only a minute at best. Good as a distraction, not so good at anything else. A device much more powerful than a cell phone would be required to perform a greater illusion. For that, AEGIS has whole teams, it seems.
  • Powered Gate. This Imitation Gate is interesting in that in and of itself, it's useless. For this Imitation Gate to be effective, it must be used by a true Gate Keeper. The Powered Gate amplifies the holder's own Gate powers through its own system, similar in theory to a Gate Engine. In this way, the output from a True Gate can be increased without increasing the strain on its user, as that strain is instead placed on the Imitation Gate. The effect is only good for a single strike.
  • Gate of Sealing. Unlike the other Imitation Gates, this one is much more powerful and complex. Using her laptop to synchronize them, four cell phones placed around a target connect to one another to create one massive Gate reaction in the center, one that encapsulates the target before shrinking down and exploding. Designed by Ayane in order to take care of larger targets that a mere Imitation Gate would be ineffective against. The only issue is that the phones must be placed at precise locations, requiring that the target is either immobile or led into a preset trap.

Personality Description: Ayane's personality went through something of a roller-coaster over the past year of dimensional travel she'd been subjected to. Thrown to the World of Legacy, she became a happy-go-lucky girl with no regards to logic or intelligence in return for an unlimited supply of hot-bloodedness. Back to her senses in Traverse Town, she turned dark and sinister, angry both at herself and the Heartless for causing such a mishap. Reunited with Aisia and experiencing the conclusion of that terrible nightmare, she's left... somewhat softened. While before she might not seek friendship, now she seems to be a little more outgoing. Where she used to be on a hair-trigger, she is more forgiving. In wanting to return to a 'normal' life, she seems to have mellowed out. In doing so, however, it seems she may be more vulnerable than ever to her changing surroundings...

Personal History:

Ayane had a bit of a troubled childhood. Well, you could call it that, or you could call it par for the course when it comes to a father who up and disappears at the ripe age of five, and a mother who's too busy crying about it to help out. Since she had no support from parents, Ayane became a self-reliant child, earning good grades, doing her own chores, even making her own food. As she grew older, she decided that she no longer really needed parents anyway. Especially fathers, who were especially useless. Perhaps it was thanks to having no role models that Ayane also grew to thrive on praise. Her good grades were much less a willingness to succeed, and much more a way to be praised by her teachers. Not only that, of course, but also that she had learned about being able to go to a private high school if her grades were good enough. A private school with elite students, and best of all, no more living at home? Ayane Isuzu was inspired.

Now, that's not to say that she grew up completely without support. When Ayane had about reached age 12, she was approached by a man who claimed to be related to her parents and had something he wanted to give to her. Now, under any normal circumstances, the "don't take candy from strangers" memory would kick into gear here, but she'd never been taught that. Fortunately, this particular stranger was much less interested in her undeveloped body and much more interested in making use of her family lineage. Ayane discovered that her bloodline contained the genes of "Gate Keepers," or humans with a supernatural ability to access powers beyond others' reach. She, too, was one of these Gate Keepers, and possessed the same gate as her father; the Gate of Wind. Mentioning the fact that she had gained the ability from her father was probably a bad idea, though, since from that point on she absolutely refused to make use of her powers. However, since her combat and reasoning skills were well above-average--and since AEGIS was practically a one-man crew at this point--it was decided that she be given new toys to play with. Ayane was supplied with a cell phone program which would connect to the AEGIS network and access a system of "Imitation Gates," or gate-like power sent over the air. With these Imitation Gates, Ayane would be able to carry out her role as an agent of AEGIS without necessitating the use of her own, personal gate.

One would think that learning about supernatural powers and aliens would turn Ayane around and make her energetic, but instead, she just became more introverted around others. She would attend class and answer anything asked of her to the best of her ability, but she spent more time researching Invaders (apparently some sort of alien) and Gates than making friends. As far as she was concerned, her peers were nothing. Scum of the Earth, right along with the planet itself. Learning the truth of the world tends to mellow things out for a person, it would appear. And now, Ayane Isuzu is 16 years old. She is a self-serving, introverted girl with supernatural powers and crazy electronic toys. And it's her first year of High School, attending a school known for its... odd community.

Previously, On Shin Hyakuji High School:

Since arriving at Hyakuji, Ayane has caused... chaos. On her first day of school, she blew up her homeroom in frustration and then was nearly erupted by her teacher Hiro Tsukasa, who then ended up being her first period teacher as well. She met Hinata Kagura, who despite constantly ruining any chance of making a good impression on Ayane managed to stay on the girl's good side. She experienced a strange battle against mysterious beings and something called 'Arcadia', and was dragged on a beach trip. The beach trip, while filled with embarrassing moments featuring less clothing than she was comfortable with, wrought one very important turning point in her life.

The advent of Aisia Asakura.

Who, to be fair, she nearly fried to a crisp in their first meeting. This girl who travelled dimensions was strangely attractive to Ayane, perhaps pulling at her curiosity about interdimensional travel, or her interest in Gundams. Whatever it was, Ayane felt close to Aisia even though they'd only just met. Upon returning to Hyakuji after the beach trip, she found to her surprise that Aisia had taken up residence as her roommate and had the same strange power Hinata had to pull her strings. Through a rather embarrassing event very soon after she also met Shiki Mizuno, and was introduced to the Strike Gundam in all its glory. And through another Shiki-related event, ended up confessing to Aisia, which while it was filled with an emotional rollercoaster of craziness, did work out. Much to the chagrin of their next-door neighbor, Ayane and Aisia became more than just mere roommates or friends--they were lovers.

Her one 'social' obsession, if you could call it that, was playing the Gundam arcade game in Majikku Mall. I guess it would be social, considering through the game she also met Saito Hiraga, who would be a thorn in her side from that point on. His extreme self-confidence would repeatedly trip her up, though she tries hard to seem like she doesn't care about his chides. On the other hand, she does acknowledge him as a worthy opponent, and in that, perhaps even a friend.

For Halloween she was once more dragged along by Aisia, convinced to attend the Hyakuji Halloween Party. Though she snuck in out of costume, she ended up dressing as Setsuna F Seiei from Gundam 00. This would turn out to be something she regretted, for that Halloween Party would end up turning its attendees into whatever they attended as. So for a brief time, her consciousness was replaced with that of a Gundam Meister, who worked alongside Saito--who had been changed into a SD Gundam Exia--to save Hyakuji from the Robot Masters. Most of her memories of it are fuzzy.

She's had her body exposed repeatedly to strangers, blew up bits of the school, dragged into a battle against Dark Brain, made into a Mecha Musume Ranger, fought to save Hyakuji from Mu, and got fired from AEGIS for a month. It wouldn't be a stretch to say she's been through the wringer, but she doesn't mind all that once she goes to bed each night. After all, the one she loves is always there. How will she handle the future, though? What trials and tribulations await her down the road? WILL SAITO AND SHIKI EVER LEAVE HER ALONE!?

Second Season Summary:

As it turned out, there was no next time. In an instant, everything Ayane Isuzu knew was erased, replaced inexplicably with a world known as the Universal Century. Not only was she displaced in dimensions, but upon her head was--unbeknownst to her--a fragment of Otoha, her headband. This headband had a rather interesting side-effect, causing her personality to shift completely into something closer to her father, Shun Ukiya. She even announced herself with her father's last name, leading everyone she met on mind-numbingly reckless adventures through the mysterious world of giant mecha. Aside from not being able to remember much about why she was there or how, none of it really seemed that strange to her, either. She continued to live day-by-day in the Universal Century, sure that this was her place in life. Hotblood in one hand, Gundam in the other. Savin' the day.

That is, until the headband, with the same abruptness that brought Ayane to that world, vanished, causing her personality to suddenly return to normal, retaining every memory of all the completely out-of-character and disgusting things she'd done. Rather than blame the headband (as she still wasn't aware that it was the cause), she seethed to the core at the world she was in. She wanted to destroy it for everything it had made her do. Rather than carry out that will, however, she caught wind about what had caused the initial dimensional displacement. Apparently, Hyakuji had been destroyed by something called 'The Heartless', and her being teleported to safety in this crazy universe was a by-product of that event. Her rage quickly shifted directions, her desire to return to destroy them overwhelming. The only problem was, how would she get back?

Ayane wouldn't have to look far. Though it was not the same girl she'd fallen in love with moons ago, there was an Aisia Asakura by her side. A girl capable of the very sort of dimensional travel she needed. Using one final favor, she had that girl send her back... back to the lost world, the universe now belonging to the Heartless. What she'd find there was a world built from fragments, all very different and yet converging upon one another like ten jigsaw puzzles all smashed together and made to fit. The state of the world mattered little; she wasn't expecting it to be anything but destroyed. AEGIS was gone. Her family was gone. Her friends were gone. Aisia was gone. She had escaped the horrible disgrace that was the UC, but had arrived in a world she had no ties to. There was only one, single reason for her existence now.

She would erase the Heartless as viciously as possible. To this end she would do anything; she would join corporations based solely on their transforming armor technology. She would work under them enough to gain their trust, doing any job as long as it meant making their power hers.

For the power to erase them... she would even sell her heart to the Darkness so that she might walk the very same path they did. After all, how does the saying go?

Keep your friends close, but your mortal enemies beside your heart?

Unfortunately for those trying to protect the fragmented worlds, Ayane's choice of alignment caused a great deal of suffering. On more than one occasion she turned on her teammates and chose to side with their enemies, producing the very Heartless demons everyone was trying to defeat. It even clouded her interactions with people like Kazuna Kenzaki and Aisia. While she didn't end up fighting Kazuna, she did have a duel-to-the-death with the one person she'd sworn to love and protect. Thankfully there was no death involved, but Ayane had been prepared for it. The Darkness had made it very difficult to see her path as clearly as she liked, growing darker and darker as time passed. By the time the universe had spurred towards a climax, Ayane's world was little more than shadows. She reached the final stage teetering on the edge of becoming a demon.

Third Season Summary:

Though it seemed that the darkness she clung to would end up consuming her, in the end both her love for Aisia and the pure energy of Kingdom Hearts cleansed the evils from her soul and together with everyone, they managed to defeat Xemnas to bring back the rightful universe. Planted back into Hyakuji High School she and others like her found themselves in a confusing position. To them, it had been over a year since Hyakuji had disappeared. To the rest of the world, it had only been a single day. Even with the stain of darkness lifted from her heart she was left disoriented and unsure of whether she could continue life as normal, as if nothing had happened. On top of being thrown around worlds and nearly becoming a demon, there were more personal issues at stake. She had fought heavily with Aisia... but more importantly, had had intimate relations with Kazuna Kenzaki. More than returning to school, she needed to clear up those problems first.

Unfortunately, the world was likely still irritated from nearly being destroyed and decided to make things difficult. Kazuna turned out to be Ayane and Aisia's new roommate, further stressing an already stressful and jealous relationship. Though Nanoha Go joined the room to even things out, it didn't stop Aisia from rightfully feeling threatened by Kazuna's presence. As if things couldn't get any more stressful for the Gate-Keeper-turned-yuri-casanova discovered that Kouta Azuma--Kamen Rider Kuuga, her arch nemesis during the Kingdom Hearts Crisis--had become a beautiful woman. Then you had her AEGIS contact and uncle Reiji Kageyama forcing himself onto the school's staff and changing her schedule...

Basically, there was no way Ayane could win. The universe was conspiring against her, punishing her for joining the Dark. So she simply did her best to stay out of everyone's way, attend classes as normal and clear things up with her girlfriend in private. It was difficult... but somehow, she--and her relationship--survived intact.

Now, the question was... what new troubles would befall her?

Fourth Season Summary:

Tension. Pain. Powerlessness. Victories tainted by a dark, secret past. A desperate struggle to keep her relationship from crumbling to pieces in her hands. It could be said that of all the battles both physical and personal Ayane Isuzu had been through, those of the previous season were the most private and the most difficult. While she was one of the many, many Hyakuji citizens to join forces successfully against the Machine Empire, she also lost a great deal during that conflict. Her name as Kamen Rider Faiz was taken away from her as she fought a fellow Rider, Kuuga, out of pure irrational rage stemming not only from Kuuga's protection of the Machine King but also from a filthy secret in her own past. In that very same fight she used a Gate ability so dangerous it is to only be an absolute last resort, robbing her of any future chances to 'safely' use her own latent powers. Of course, as always, her Imitation Gates were under severe restrictions.

So she was without the very special powers that made her feel like she belonged in Hyakuji among the other supernaturals. That shouldn't have bothered her too terribly since at least she had a loving relationship with someone...but even that had been on the razor's edge. Even a semi-romantic trip to the moon via TARDIS and standing together victorious after the defeat of the Machine Empire hadn't been enough to prevent the wedge of mistrust from sliding its way between Ayane and Aisia. Aisia herself was becoming distant, even violent sometimes as of late. Ayane tried to either ignore it or find a way to cheer her partner up, but even she could only lie to herself for so long. There was something strange going on... and yet, she couldn't even have enough faith in herself to ask.

Thus, Ayane Isuzu starts this season trapped with others in the endless maze of Heavenly Host Elementary School. Will they escape? And even if they do... will Ayane and Aisia ever be the same again?

Supernatural hijinks and yuri relationship struggles ahoy next time on SHIN HYAKUJI HIGH SCHOOL!

Mashed Potatoes?
There is no spoon just like there is no good luck for Ayane. Poor Ayane.
