How long had it been? The blonde wasn't exactly sure, but he was sure that his hair was still clotted in places with blood. He'd been sewed up and 'fixed', but at some point the idiotic boy had scratched them open and hadn't bothered to go get re-stitched.

The boy had drug himself from his bed to the school, deciding that laying in his room sulking over how useless he had been wouldn't be doing anyone any good. He wore just a tight white wife beater and loose fitting jeans, his body sagged over as he sat on the steps of the gazebo. There was a growing red splotch on his side that the boy wasn't aware of -- or simply didn't care about. He hurt all over. How could those kids take so much of a beating and just get back up again as if nothing had happened? He thought he was going to die.

Hell, he still thought he was going to die.

The boy let out a shuddering breath, reaching to his pocket for his cigarettes. His shaking hand brought one to his lips and he reached in again for his lighter... and grabbed nothing but change.

"SON OF A BITCH!" He snarled at no one, throwing the handful of pennies and nickles into the lake, the hairs on the back of his neck bristled. He needed a cigarette and in his hurry to 'clear his head' or whatever the hell he thought he was accomplishing he had left his lighter.

Cigarette still between his lips, he dipped his head down, his elbows on his knees and his hands hanging loose. His body was bubbling with emotions. Anger, frustration, sadness, helplessness. Uselessness.

If only his powers worked on himself, huh?

"Here," York spoke in a soft tone as he lowered his right hand holding his own gold plated lighter, flame ablaze, into the peripheral vision of Yuu. Perhaps the boy would've heard York's approach but the flurry of sound from his own outburst had masked the trodding of York's path towards him.

He was still in the process of exploring the city and its school along with getting to know people in the city and originally he'd come to take a look at the lake. However, upon getting closer and seeing the boy's outcry York had taken a personal interest.

"You probably shouldn't be," York commented upon the cigarette in Yuu's mouth, "But then neither should I. I'll keep your secret..." York laughed jokingly as he walked around a little placing himself in plain view of the boy.

"I'm FBI Special Agent Francis York Morgan, but call me York; everyone does," he spoke in a friendly calm tone that was downright unbefitting for someone claiming to be an FBI Agent.

"Here,"

Yuu lifted his tired grey eyes upward toward the flickering light. His eyes lidded slightly and he moved his mouth toward the light, inhaling deeply and letting out a soft, satisfied sigh as the smoke flooded his lungs. On the exhale, the smoke curled from his nostrils, his eyes lifting up to York.

He was quiet for a while, listening to York speak and... attaching himself to the man's emotions. The older man was very laid back, calm, composed, and Yuu needed that. York's calmness made Yuu calm, and after a few more slow drags of his cigarette, he mumbled, "Thank you." and dipped his head in a little nod.

An FBI agent? ...Did Japan have an FBI? For a long moment, Yuu felt very stupid.

Shaking his head a little, Yuu extended his arm -- bandaged from the elbow to shoulder -- and held his hand out to York. "Yuu." His head cocked a little though, "Shouldn't be broadcasting that. Could get hurt." Was that a threat? Maybe to someone that didn't know Yuu's nature or his general... Yuu-ness, this would seem very...suspicious.

He was almost too quiet.

Laughing a little York extended his hand and shook Yuu's firmly. Letting go he placed his lighter back in his pocket and spoke, "I wouldn't be that worried about it. I'm on loan to the Police Department here and I'm just trying to get to know my surroundings. I shouldn't be having to lie to school students."

Slowly, York raised his right hand to his ear checking on the ear piece he had in as he began to speak softly, "Zach, are you getting this? This student is named Yuu; he doesn't look to be of Japanese descent but I could be wrong. I don't believe his mannerisms indicate any connection to Wo-Shing. Rather, he might just be something of a young cynic. Not far off from you back in the day. Isn't that right, Zach?"

"Anyways," York continued with a smirk as he began to pace a little around where Yuu was sitting, "I am an FBI Agent, you know. I might not have flashy powers, but I can handle myself okay." Laughing a little York proceeded to tap his forehead slowly, "Gotta lot up here. Slinging around fire doesn't mean crap if you don't have the smarts to use it properly."

This encounter already seemed to be going better than his previous. A rude suspect, animals masquerading as ninjas; a total trainwreck. Still, he'd yet to find any leads on his main case but this was permissible. It was only his first day in Hyakuji.

Yuu's shoulders rocked in a shrug, his funeral. The kids here were crazy, he had seen that, and he wasn't even completely certain that the students here could be taken down with even bullets. Now that he was calmed down, though, York's words sunk better into his mind.

FBI... The government.

The hairs on his neck bristled and he inhaled sharply, his fingers strumming slowly over his thigh -- a nervous gesture. Go figure that the boy had a few deep rooted issues with the government. His eyes turned away again, staring off into the lake... and the change he had thrown there. That was supposed to go toward his next pack...

And speaking of money, the boy had become quickly more and more aware that he didn't have enough money to support his nicotine habit as well as his home... He needed a job.

"Tell me what sort of agent you are." An order, not a request. But there was no authoritative tone in his voice. He was just... Curious. If York was a part of what he had experienced... of what he had gone through... Yuu would suddenly turn into a very terrible sort of person.

"Ah, what kind?" York repeated as he mulled over the question for a few moments still pacing around. "Well," York continued, "I guess I'd really just think of me as a Detective of sorts. I've actually only been with the Bureau for a year and before that it was simply the regular police force. Most of what I've done since the Bureau is comparable to what I am doing now. Being sent to some unfamiliar place and step in to solve some matter the local police aren't handling for one reason or another."

"What did you have in mind?" York said in a joking tone as he finally settled his pacing opting to sit down beside Yuu and gaze towards the lake some. His question held a hinting tone almost as if he were expecting a certain answer among others.

"Zach, it seems this child might have had some past encounter with the Bureau," York explained in a hushed tone raising his hand to his right ear again, "That or he also has a natural fear of authority figures such as the law. Perhaps that is a commonality among this generation...."

Ah... that was good. At least he hadn't been in this thing long, and hadn't done anything horrible... that Yuu was aware of, at least. The male was mellow as ever too, not lying at all. That was good too. The man seemed genuine and didn't act anything like the men and women Yuu had dealt with, and that was just grand.

Yuu's shoulders rocked in a shrug as he exhaled, sending a wisp of smoke from the corners of his mouth. What did he have in mind? Nothing that exciting... Just wondering if he'd done any disgusting experiments on any children...

The boy snorted, then shook his head, "Just curious."

"You're not one for conversation are you?" York questioned with a laugh making a very obvious observation. Laughing a little York stood back up and began to pace around again.

"Zach, are you watching?" York began slowly, "Yuu seems rather introverted. Not one for conversation you might say. I'm finding it hard to carry on the conversation with the minimal amount he is contributing. I guess you could compare it to talking to a wall. I'm not sure which I prefer. The awkwardness of this conversation or the insanity from the school gates. I guess this one at least makes a bit more sense. Wouldn't you agree, Zach?"

"So tell me Yuu," York continued as his voice took on a curious tone, "Have you lived in Hyakuji for long? There's a certain thing I'm wondering about. Perhaps you can give me some information that would be helpful..."

Why did everyone say that? Just because he didn't speak uselessly... Again, Yuu's shoulders sagged with a shrug. "Not really," He muttered, drawing his cigarette away from his lips slowly, exhaling another mass of smoke. He could converse, yeah, but...well... Not very well.

The boy's head cocked a little as York questioned him, and he shook his head. No... he hadn't been here long. Technically he'd only been in 'Hyakuji' for about a...week? Maybe? Probably way less. Either way, he liked having the calming company, so he turned his gunmetal eyes up to York and spoke, "I can try, though."

He winced after a moment, reaching to his side and touching the sore spot there. Christ had that hurt... What an idiot he'd been, trying to help. Now he was just a beaten, bruised mess. It was a good thing he was wearing a shirt, or York might have been concerned for all the bruises he had accumulated.

"Wo Shing," York said plainly as he raised a hand with one finger held up as if counting the point, "Does that name a ring a bell to you at all? Think carefully, ok? It's very important to me."

York's tone held almost a playful jokey-manner but he was more than serious about his question. It had been the reason he was liasoned to the PD in Hyakuji and the point of him being in the city. Everything hinged on this main case, no matter what other ones would rise up later.

He hoped the boy named Yuu wouldn't already be a part of Wo-Shing. He didn't carry anything in his mannerisms thus far to suggest it, but if he was a part then it might have been a bad move to reveal his hand so early. It was a gamble, but hopefully one that payed off well.

Wo Shing? Again? They must be much more prevalent than he thought... If an FBI agent was here asking about them, they were far more trouble than he had originally imagined. Which meant... they were ruining more lives than he had thought.

The hairs on his neck bristled.

"Yakuza," the boy responded, short as always. He wasn't entirely sure if that was an accurate way of describing them, but by the way Chizu had described the group? It seemed like whatever they were wasn't a very far grasp from the Japanese equivalent of a mafia.

Shifting his weight, the boy used his middle finger to nudge his glasses up the bridge of his nose, staring toward the lake, not even looking at the man at his side.

"You're really going to get killed,"
he added, one eyebrow cocking for a moment. What if he had been in this Wo Shing? What if he had some strange power like controlling fire? York could have been finely roasted before he could blink. Why did everyone at Hyakuji seem to be so trusting?

"I'm an FBI Agent," York replied dryly, "You don't need to point out the obvious dangers of my line of work." It was quite hard to carry a conversation. However, given the answer it seemed Yuu had nothing to do with them.

"If I don't take risks I won't get anywhere," York continued with an excited laugh, "So do you have any information on them? Anything will help." York knew that at this point was like trying to beg an answer out of a wall. Yuu didn't seem to be much for conversation at all in the least. Still, the word had rung a bell clearly for the boy to make the comparison "yakuza" so he had to at least know something.

Soon York would ask the wrong person and thus begin barking up the proverbial wrong tree. However, this was what Rude had been assigned as his partner for. He couldn't stop in his pursuit of justice; not even with the threat of danger to his own life.
