Thump. Tha-thump.

Star wasn't sure if that was the light again, or her own frantic heartbeat. In this situation, it was a little hard to tell. She swallowed, trying very hard to calm down. Panic was bad. Panic made it hard to think clearly. And she needed to think, because she knew that physically, she was weak, and elementally, she was only slightly stronger than she was physically and lacking in experience. The only thing she had, the only weapon she could rely on, was her brain.

But it was very hard to use her brain reliably when she was on the edge of panic and was being circled by a Nobody so quickly that she couldn't even see it, let alone attack it. Her grip tightened on her keyblades, her eyes wide as a bead of sweat trickled down the side of her face. She forced herself to register that there was a new fighter in the area. Forced herself to be aware of her situation.

But that awareness only gave way to more fear.

Star swallowed and extended her keyblade, gathering light into her hand. Five ribbons of light flared out from her hand, extending past the lit area around her and into the path of the Ninja. She hoped to trip him with one of them and let the others latch on to it, holding it in place long enough for Meglumar to attack it.

She wouldn't be able to hold it for long, though.

I shouldn't have come...I should have stayed home. I can't win here. I can't even fight. I'm gonna get myself killed at this rate, or get everyone else killed trying to stay alive.

I'm weak.

I'm useless.

I...I...

I'm a failure.

Damn this nobody and his minions. Damn him to every hell that ever existed and then some. His minions were fierce and annoying, and quick! How could he properly deal with them? He needed to find a way to take care of them without being hit over and over like a dummy.

Star, luckily, seemed to at least have an idea. Her light went out in the nobody minions general direction, or so it seemed, and if her attack did indeed keep it held down, he could stop it! He moved toward the ninja with both keyblades out.

He made two slashes at it, one from each keyblade, and then tried to stab it through with both. He would protect Star from these things, he would fight these things, and he would ensure, no matter what, that Star would be safe.

OOC: The story is a little tedious right now. It'll pick up soon, just keeping active by posting as much as I can for now.

Quote:

He loaded up a new disk and pointed it at the foe rapidly, The light in the area, minimal as it was, distorted and formed around his fingers exploding into a high-speed thin piercing laser beam headed directly for his target.

*Insert sounds of blinding white light beaming outwards here.* One cleared, it was obvious that the Ninja was caught off guard by the attack was being parry. The one true weakness of the Ninja NBs that can't easily dodge a counter attack. Give them breathing room to move about and then they're untouchable, maybe some of them would pick that up like this one here did.

Xephiroths clapped once. Xander had been the first to completely eradicate one of the Ninja NBs but, when one was finished two came in it's place. Like black shadows sneaking from over the ledge after climbing up the side of the building that was behind Xander, they quickly attacked at the same time he had which made it quite harder to dodge if your focused on one opponent. One came at the corner of his back while the other from the opposite corner at his shoulder blade.

Quote:

they would notice the floor was now littered with peanuts, fresh out of the packet and still crunchy.

Even though Jen played fast, she wasn't quick enough to out run nor outspeed the Ninja NB. Not because the Ninja NB was faster, but because she was slower... actually the speed of a normal human. In this case, the Ninja NB considering he had no mind only taking commands from Xephiroths to attack, he fell for the peanut crunching trick as he ran for her back side to get an opening attack, but instead of going around he went straight pass her side, in which case the Ninja NB was open to be attack as he made it completely obvious what he was doing.

Quote:

The blades brushed by almost touching him as he brought his hand forward to release his own attack: a burst of ki capable of blasting through a wall.

BAM! It was like a smack in the face to the Ninja NB, with no kind of defense to it, the NB was knocked across the area into the closest wall in the direction of Eiji's aim.

Quote:

Quote:

He made two slashes at it, one from each keyblade, and then tried to stab it through with both.

Failure to both of them, the Ninja NB was quick enough to be ahead of the light as it speed passed where it was aimed, even though it was in its pathed of running. Then right as Meglumar caught up ahead of where the Ninja NB was suppose to land, the NB stopped right in front of him and then jumped over the first strike of his blade. The second and next of course missed, but the NB was already behind him, well still in the air though as he can't be as fast in the air as he was on foot. However during this time of midair point, the NB was coming down with his blade to cut open his backside, unless someone had an solution for his situation.

~

Watching it all, he shrugged and sighed. It was boring to him. It was entirely no mood changing with this scene. Ok well, at least Xander showed something worth taking in consideration.

"Don't underestimate the training Cypriss gave me... And don't underestimate the motivations that Jameson taught me. That stupidly optimistic guy.. died smiling.. Because he believed in the future we held in our hands!"

Xephiroths: "Since no one else seems to be answering me, and your resolutions seem adequate enough to be a partial answer."

He said to Xander as if he was distracting him as he destroyed one while two more took it's place.

The one Ninja NB that Eiji had hit into a wall, got back up still alive it seems.

Xephiroths: "Is this your purpose? Is this your hope that you'll hold onto to get to Xemnas?"

Steadily speaking rather then fighting Xephiroths's purposes wasn't to battle them, he wanted to use their power for his own, but this will be prove hard if they're not even trying.

Xephiroths: "Someone at least say something to let me know you're not here just to swing around your damn keyblade and smashed, crush, hack and slash at the Organization 13 Leader and think you'll actually win. If you can't even deal with my Nobodies, then there is no way you'll make it by stopping him."

Pushing. He wanted them to go further into this, Xander was the only one to Xephiroths who observe to be taking it serious enough to unleash it all out. Why was everyone also being so on reserve? Xephs had to push a little more, there had to be something.

I don't think he was paying enough to Eiji though, after smacking his nobody into the wall with such ease. That same nobody who got back up crawled over the wall and hid itself on the side of the castle out of view of the others unless they were leaning over the ledge to look down.

Again, he waited and wasted time as he tried to talk to them and let his Nobody handle them.

Two more Nobody formed from Xephiroths side and headed into Eiji's direction without attack. Instead they encircled him, and kept at a distance.

"You want us to TALK?!" Zander said leaping back from the attacking path of the current nobody. He pulled his arm around. Only a few shots... Only a few so he had to be careful. If he overused the power without good reason then he'd be wasting his major offensive ability prematurely. However with Star there he was given a rare chance. Her light power had failed.... But it could serve as the progenitor of his own light counter offensive.

"Why would we talk when everything we want is right here?! You bastards took our world and our families and EVERYTHING! And now we're here to take it back, even if it means playing your stupid MIND GAMES and listening to you ramble!"He held out his hand. "Run Program."

All the light in the area gathered to his hand. The five missed spheres circled around his arm gathering into a massive ball of light. The surrounding area dimmed and darkened as he drew all the power together into one massive ball of raw power. "However that doesn't mean I'll play by your rules!" He thrust his arm out firing a single continuous beam. First he swept it across the nobodies, but the actual target was the leader of the group. It was time to counter attack. And no better way than a big-ass laser beam to do so.

Zander held his arm, the sleeve was actually smoking from the residual heat of the beam he'd fired. He panted a bit, looking for what effect he'd had. "Game over or just the match?"

Damn, those ninjas are quick! Jen thought as the Ninja quickly gained on her - there was no chance she could out-stealth the Nobody with her normal human speed and reflexes. But what the purple-haired girl lacked in superhuman speed, she made up for it in her perception and tactics. Jen panted as she dived behind the pillar, Keyblade in hand. But she knew that she wouldn't have time to catch her breath; the Ninja was on her like white on rice.

Crack.

Above the din of battle, the sound of peanuts being crunched underfoot almost went unnoticed, but thankfully for Jen, situational awareness was something she had practically spent her entire life practicing. The direction of the sound? Behind. True to a ninja's penchant for ambushes, this Nobody attempted to mount a surprise assault from the rear.

And now! Jen thought as the Ninja somehow ended up speeding past her instead of coming straight from the back; having already been tipped off on the direction where he was striking from certainly did help matters some more for her, as Jen threw herself forward, attempting to catch the Nobody with a slash to the side as he ran past!

No... thought Star as her attack failed miserably. She turned around sharply, trying to follow the ninja with her eyes. It was hard, though. It moved so much faster than she could see. Her eyes widened as she saw it reappear, for just a flash, behind Meglumar. Time seemed to slow down at that instant and she saw the sword descend. It would cut him...it would hurt him.

Meglumar...would be hurt because she was incompetent. Meglumar, who was always protecting her. Her eyes widened sharply in alarm and her hand extended before she could even think about it.

"No!" she shouted, a blast of light extending from her hand towards the Nobody. The blast had no actual form--in fact it was a little misshapen, but it was solid. It would be blunt if it hit, but it would be heavy. As the light flew towards the Ninja, a gold color slowly began to seep into Star's violet eyes. It hung just around the edges for now, barely noticeable.

Light pulsed again, more demanding this time. She almost didn't notice Xephiroths talking. Her mind was so focused on her own situation. She didn't have time to reply.

No...not yet... she thought as she forced the power back down. A voice rang out from it, a deep voice, and Star shivered when she heard it. It wasn't a voice she had ever heard before. Certainly, it wasn't her mother's voice. It was a masculine voice, deep and somewhat majestic.

Daughter... it said, Is this the extent of your will?

"You're just a big waste of time."

Eiji's voice was calm, as cold and composed as he always was. He had come all the way through the city walking slowly, saving his strength, not rushing and merely crushing those heartless and nobodies who dared come near him. He didn't care to destroy the evil hordes of darkness and whatnot, he was merely after the head. Once the head was cut off the body would fall to pieces.

Meeting these so-called ninja nobodies was a real bother though; it meant he'd have to use some of his physical strength to go through this place and reach Xemnas.

I'll just make this quick.

Suddenly his body darted forward at insane speed; much unlike the slow, worn-out body he'd seemed to have moments ago. He followed the ninja nobodies around from the corner of his eyes as he dashed towards Xephiroths, avoiding both 'friends' and foes and fully aware he was being tailed by the minions, which could decide to attack him any second. He had already mapped everyone's position and current actions and his tactical mind was already mapping out many different scenarios. Eiji might play the part of a mobster for a living, but fighting was his life, his element and the only thing in the world he truly loved. This guy he was about to attack might not be the one he wanted to fight, but he could see he was no small timer either and was bound to be a good challenge at the very least. Despite his outer cold and serious demeanor, inside Eiji was smiling.

"I'm not here to talk to you or your leader."

He was here to kill Xemnas... and Xephiroths should he continue trying to stop him.

"Last chance: move away."

Awwwww heck. The nobody was too quick for him. He turned around and everything seemed to move in slow motion for a moment. What could he do? He wasn't going to be able to dodge this thing. No way he was that quick. He was just a swordsman, not a super speedy fighter! He couldn't move his arms to block at that angle, he had his armor on which restricted his arms from moving that far back that quickly.

That was when SOMETHING smashed towards the ninja, knocking him a bit forward just from the blast getting that close. What in the WORLD?! He looked and saw Star. She just saved him from that thing, big time. She looked to be in pain. Uh Oh. He knew what this meant. He turned to face the leader nobody here, who was spouting off trivial nonsense.

"SHUT YOUR MOUTH!" He yelled off at the Nobody, with genuine, incredible anger. This nobody was trying to...LECTURE THEM? Say things to them? As they were fighting?! "WE'RE GOING TO WIN." He said as he tossed his Ultimate Keyblade at the Ninja Star had attacked, hoping to impale it.

They had to win. He was going to make it happen, if he had to, even if it killed him. He would stop the fight. Make sure Star was okay. They would go to Xemnas. They would stop him. They would go home. That is what he promised. That is what he would fight for.

It would had worked to, had the Nobody changed up his direction of running. In an mid run efforts, not coincidental either, Xephiroths did have full control and understood what she was planning so it was obvious that he was using her strategy against her. Just as she found her self slashing against the air, the nobody had already made sure not to be in the location of where she was aiming as he already move a second before she threw herself forward.

The nobody turned back around just after she completed her attack, which left her shoulder wide open for a strike unless she could pull back quick enough. Just as Xephiroths had planned, he was about to take her out with this next one. That was until.....

Xander had taking out both of his own attackers, and mistakely.. or maybe purposely took out the one that was attacking Jen.

Xephiroths on the other hand had a problem with something here as he was the next to be attacked right after Xander dealt with the minions. The beam of light seem to hit Xephiroths, but didn't proceed any further as the Nobody Leader manage to smile under the pressure of the attack. With a flick of his wrist, or what it seemed Xephiroths smack the beam out from in front of him and into the sky.

At the same time.

So that was five down, only three of them left. All of which were Eiji's. Who was which currently running his way.

Then...just as everything was going their way.

All the light in the area gathered into Xephiroths's hand. It seem the illumination of the environment start to circle around his arm gathering into a massive ball of light. The surrounding area dimmed and darkened as he drew all the power together into one massive ball of raw power. Just like how Xander's attacked look. The same example way.

Xephiroths thrust his arm out firing a single continuous beam, no wait it was FOUR beams of light that split from that one. Each beam heading in the direction of each opponent. What's more as wide as it was, the nobodies that were keeping up with Eiji was also caught in the blast, showing that Xephiroths had no remorse for his own Nobodies.

"Tch..." Xander reached out with both hands. His eyes clenched shut. The four beams curved and began to spin aorund his body. The light beams formed rings around him. His power was to absorb and manipulate any light in the area into an attack. He had fired back at Xephiroths all the power of his AND star's abilities... but Xephiroths had shot back something greater, right now it was playing volleyball with a ball that kept getting bigger and was increasingly filled with more and more explosive power. "Oh yeah that's smart, throw LIGHT BEAMS at two PHOTOMANCERS. That's genius."

Er.. to put that more logically they were tossing the attack back and forth and it kept getting bigger and bigger.. Soon it'd be something to truly fear. Now it was time to call in the reinforcements.. "Star... I need light. The more light I have the more powerful my attack becomes.. If you can provide the light I can create something he can't just knock away. However to charge it and gather the power will require time.." He glanced to Eiji.

"Luckily the meathead is here to provide a distraction.." He said as the massive beams of light all formed around his hands into spheres. Slowly they contracted from massive beams into smaller spheres, as they did the brightness and heat increased. He was creating hyper focused spheres on both hands. Star's light was filled with power. He was going to wield that power.. but not toss it away like before.. He was going to create something massive with his final shot.

Star's breath caught in her throat at the wave of emotion she felt coming from Meglumar of all people. What had happened to her? Why was Meglumar the one that was passionate about this battle while she hid in the background, just trying to hold on? And why had it happened? Was it because she was afraid to die here?

...If she died here, this was how she would be remembered. Star's eyes widened sharply as she considered the voice's question. The extent of her will...Was this all that she was made of? In the end, would this be Star's last performance?

The light beams came towards her. Star's eyes widened, hands spread to either side of her as she prepared to take the hit.

...

"Psych~" said Star with a sudden grin. The beams of light curved in a circle around Zander, but as they sped past her, light enveloped her hands. She took a step forward, tossing her hair. "Wow, look who's a genius, I guess," she said with a giggle.

Her heart beat fast in her chest, she was still scared out of her mind, but if there was something that Star was good at, it was working past the fear. Her mind was focused now. She had to do this. She would die if she didn't. Inside her, she could feel the power thumping, wanting to be released. Not yet. Not here, and not yet.

"One blast of light coming right up, Mr. Grape Juice Head, sir," said Star, extending her keyblade towards Xander. A blast of light fired from the tip of it towards him, courtesy of Star.

What in the world?! This guy could use light attacks? Well this was going to end up badly for him, if Star would be able to do something. It looked like the stranger-guy was also a photomancer too. Well this poor nobody was in for some trouble.

And lucky for them all, It finally looked like Star was alright

"..." Beneath his helmet Meglumar sighed in relief lightly, a smile on his face and relief filling him. It was unlikely she was completely better, but the face that she had composed herself and started to really get offensive, he felt more at ease.

But, hey, why let her and the photomancer have all the fun here? He aimed his keyblade at the Nobody, and an orb of light formed at the tip of his keyblade. The Oath Of the wand, a benefit from working with the light. He fired off there sphere from the keyblade straight at him, feeling some confidence from this.

"Oh, f**k!" Jennifer cursed as her strike connected... with thin air. The purple-haired girl could feel her heart thumping heavily as the Ninja loomed behind her, claw poised to strike. So much for her brilliant tactics. A split second passed, one which seemed like an eternity as Jen's life flashed past her. So that was how it all ends?

"NO!" Jen shouted as a wave of adrenalin surged through her, throwing herself to the ground in a desperate maneuver to avoid the Ninja's slash. Whether or not she was fast enough to save herself from the end, she would never know, because the end never came as a powerful blast of light from Zander swept across the battlefield, obliterating its targets, and among them the Nobody that almost got Jen.

"Thanks, whoever you are!" Jen looked in Zander's direction to give him a thumbs up. As the two photomancers began playing light beam Pong with Xephiroths, the purple-haired girl decided that in order to level the playing field she would need to distract the Nobody's attention. Reaching into her pack, Jen produced a spherical orb of clay.

Inside the orb contained a mixture of potassium chlorate, sugar and sodium bicarbonate, ingredients for a smoke-producing composition; a homemade smoke bomb courtesy of her encyclopedic knowledge of fireworks and chemistry.

Cocking back her arm, Jen lobbed the sphere in Xephiroth's general direction, causing it to shatter against the floor and shrouding the area around the Nobody with a thick pall of obscuring smoke. Such was the proper way of deploying a smoke screen - it would be difficult to see through the cloud of smoke when inside it; but those outside will have little trouble discerning the outline of the target.

"Suck gas, evil-doer!" Jen made a Darkwing Duck reference as the pall of smoke spread.

Eiji had ran freely, not attacked by the ninja and in barely a few seconds he had reached his destination. By the time Xephiroths reached out and fired his beam of light, Eiji was so close to him all he had to do was step aside as the light was drawn around by one of the others.

The nobody was wide open but Eiji wasn't stupid and knew the man might still be able to do something; so he was quite aware of his surroundings and ready for a surprise as he launched his own attack.

A massive flow of ki rushed through him in a fraction of a second as his fist shot forward, aiming to punch all the way through Xephiroths' body only by its physical power; at the same time, should Eiji's fist land home, a gigantic amount of pure destructive force would blast into the nobody's body, aiming to simply blow it to pieces at once.

Immediately after that the smoke granade would hit, obscuring his vision and making it quite bothersome to breathe.

Genius idea, kid... whoever you are. Just genius...

Xephiroths: "Oh!"

He didn't seem that excited or worried, it was as if they were playing right into what he had planned. There was however more situations to worry about while they think they were playing around with their little light show.

To them it looked like it was all happening so fast.

Meglumar attack looked like it had hit, so did Eiji's and soon after the smoke covered up the scene making the vision of their success unseen. Whether or not anything happen it wasn't for sure.

Moments later the smoke had cleared, and there stood not one Xephiroths. Well instead... there was 5 of him. Five distinct clones of him standing there, all clapping at once and laughing. The one who got shot had a hole in his chest and lower half, but just as they stopped clapping, the injury vanished like a mirage.

~

Footsteps of someone running could be heard as he made his way into area. Looks like someone else was trying to make it through the Nobodies that was blocking his way. A group of Ninja Nobodies to be exactly. Looks like there was someone Xephiroths didn't want there but couldn't keep out.

~

Xephiroths: "Shit he made it this far. I should have known."

One of the copies spokes as they began to split up into each one taking a opponent to fight. Btw.. the light that Xander was holding, it was starting to lose control. Much like he didn't have control over it at all. Wait, but isn't he a PhotoMancer? The only other reason why he couldn't control his own light is because.....

~

"IT'S A TRAP!" The voice from behind the group yelled as he ran onto the scene closest to Xander with one hand out as if he was about to grab the light that the boy held. Sephiroth eyes were red showing his Sharingan was activated.

Which in their case was starting to get brighter for no reason, even though Star was trying to help the situation, it didn't seem to work well. At least with the light Xander was conjuring up, he still had control off, but for the light that Xephiroths had sent back well.. it was breaking up and surrounded Xander. If he tried to control the light this time, it wouldn't work. Because... indeed.. it was a trap.
