So far, most of Quin's time had been spent in Traverse Town. Seeing as Traverse Town was a safe town and hub for most of the known worlds, there was the assurance of safety. Quin had yet to be tested, however. He hadn't been tested under stressful situations, other than the recent incident in the Third District.

His intentions for joining Arcadia were simple but complex. He wanted resources and friends, comrades. People he could count on when he needed them. But he also wanted to do good. He wanted to right the wrongs, and he wanted to investigate the problems as to the state of the universe. Nothing is possible without help and resources. Not in this day and age.

Then there is the issue of opposition. Understanding and knowledge of one's enemy is simply not enough. Arcadia's job was to fight evil, not just know it. And for that, Quin conceded deep respect even though he had only barely scratched the surface of the inner workings of Hyakuji and the worlds of the universe.

The front entrance to the Fairy Tail guild hall was very festive, with dozens of people enjoying their times. It was early afternoon. Lunch time for most people, and they were certainly using it. People were drinking, eating, dancing, and conversing deeply. The place was great.

Quin stepped up to the bar and asked the barmaid for directions. She responded, "There's a central staircase to the upper floors, but they're typically off-limits."

"I see. I'm here on personal terms, and will likely be accepted into the upper floors to speak with someone. As for safety, I can assure you that the people I wish to meet can defend themselves, in case you were wondering whether I was harboring ill-will towards them." With that, Quin nodded to her and made his way through the crowd to the stairs.

Code:

I couldn't find information as to how the layout of the guild was designed, so I wanted to be cool and use my imagination.

Ironically, the stairs were not literally stairs. There was something odd about them. Quin stepped onto the first step, 7 inches off the main floor, and what appeared to him was simply an optical illusion. The stairway was not real at all, it was simply a five-by-five foot platform that had imagery of a staircase, made possible by way of magic.

After a second or two, someone's soothing voice spoke directly into Quin's mind, asking, "What business do you have here and which floor do you wish to be directed?"

Getting over the shocking realizaiton, Quin responded in think-speech, "I'm here to speak with some higher-ups of Arcadia as to joining them. I do not know which floor they are stationed at, however."

As soon as Quin finished, he was immediately teleported to Arcadia's floor. It happened so fast, that to Quin he was staring out at the crowd of the first floor and then in the blink of an eye he was in a new room.

Lavender blinked in surprise at the blond man who just teleported into her office. Quin would find himself being teleported into an administrative office - a large oak wood desk and high-back office chair. On the desk was a computer and other standard stuff one would find in an office. But he'd find who he was looking for - a young woman with amethyst-colored hair and elven features sat behind the desk, wearing what appears to be a military dress uniform - white dress shirt and black necktie and a tan office skirt, underneath a matching suit jacket. Lavender looked up at Quin, then down at the 'documents' she was processing; which weren't really Arcadia documents at all, but rather her latest doujin which she was almost done penciling.

Lavender looked up again, grinning sheepishly as with one swift fluid motion the aeromancer swept the manuscript and stationery underneath her desk before clearing her throat with a cough, straightening her tie and then sitting upright with her hands folded together and resting on her desk, looking up at Quin with a businesslike expression, wearing a mirthless professional's smile on her face. Gosh, why'd have to use the magical teleportation in that manner! Lavender thought. Straight to the higher-up's office! Why can't he opt to teleport first to the reception area? However, Lavender wasn't the sort to tightly enforce bureaucracy, while she could've asked him to go to the reception area, she chose to address Quin.

"Greetings sir," Lavender said as she looked at Quin. "How may I help you?"

Gonna assume that he's wearing the clothes in his profile picture, because this is hilarious XD

The door to Lavender's office suddenly burst open, admitting a certain blond photomancer. Star seemed to have improved visibly from Shinya, but maybe that was because she had an actual place to stay now and some actual answers. And a Keyblade! Oh, and a crush on her partner, but that wasn't entirely important was it? "Moooorniiing~" she said cheerfully, holding up a paper bag. "I brought cookies!"

Star paused for a moment as she realized that there was someone else in the office. She blinked and turned to face the man, one hand on her hip as she looked him up and down. He seemed to be wearing some sort of...pajamas? "Cool," she said, nodding approvingly. Star hardly ever criticized other people's personal style, except when they failed at their own personal style. She looked away from Pajama Dude and placed the bag of cookies on Lavender's desk.

Lavender looked kinda...sheepish...as if she had been caught in the act, or nearly caught in the act of something. Star grinned, a knowing glint in her eye as she looked over at Lavender's desk. "Ah, boss, I forgot to ask. How's the doujin coming?~" she asked. She quickly stepped back out of easy reach before Lavender could react.

One of the things she loved about working at Arcadia was the office gossip.

Nothing wrong with silky smooth clothes. I feel like Batista, wearing the clothes of royalty. B)

Quin's sudden appearance into the office startled the woman at her desk. Quin was startled as well, though. The woman at the desk promptly put away whatever she was working on and turned her attention to Quin.

She said, "Greetings, sir. How may I help you?" But before Quin could respond, another girl entered the office, interrupting the conversation-to-be before it began.

She studied Quin for a moment, and commented with "Cool."

Quin couldn't help but wonder, These are the people sworn to defend and protect society and they're poking around with each other for fun... It wasn't a surprise, though. Everyone had an inner-child, no matter how sinister or serious they could try to make others around them perceive them as.

After another moment, and another exchange of words between the two ladies, Quin finally responded, "I'm here to offer my services. To join the cause, I suppose. I spent some time in the Third District a while ago. Got attacked by tons of heartless. I can't help but imagine what it would be like to a person who couldn't fend themselves or didn't have backup like I did."

He stepped closer to the desk, past the energetic woman who had just stepped away from the desk. "It's business time," he finished.

Lavender's pointed ears perked slightly as she detected movement outside her office, and before she could address the blond newcomer, the door flew open as another blond entered the Arcadian leader's office - that was none other than Star. "Moooorniiing~" the photomancer greeted. She seemed to be in good spirits today; that was a good thing - was she already recovering from her explosion in Shinya? Lavender certainly hoped so; at this point in time there was really no point keeping what she and Damon had found out about the cheerful photomancer. Perhaps, at an opportune moment she would talk to Star about things... but the aeromancer couldn't help but get the feeling that Damon had already beaten her to the draw. "I brought cookies!" The photomancer said as she raised a paper bag.

"Good morning, Star," Lavender replied with a smile on her face, nodding to acknowledge Star's arrival, however untimely it was. Or rather, the untimely interruption to Quin's untimely arrival. Lavender was kind of expecting Star, but not expecting Quin... whatever. "Thanks, that's really nice of you."

There was a slight pause as Star looked the man up and down curiously, taking note of his build, posture, clothing, etc. "Cool," Star commented before proceeding to place the bag of cookies on Lavender's desk. Apparently, Star had caught on with the sheepish expression Lavender was displaying when she first entered the office, for the blond photomancer wore a playful grin on her face as a knowing glint came to her eyes. "Ah, boss, I forgot to ask. How's the doujin coming?~" she asked, before stepping back.

It didn't take long for Lavender to respond, as the Arcadian leader's face flushed pink. "Star! Not in front of a newcomer!" Lavender exclaimed in a flustered tone as she jumped out of her chair, waving her arms about. "Oh, sorry..." Lavender said as she looked at Quin, realizing just how unprofessionally she had behaved. "AHEM." The aeromancer cleared her throat again as she straightened out the lapels of her jacket and seated herself down, allowing herself a few seconds to get back the proper expression and the right atmosphere.

"I'm here to offer my services. To join the cause, I suppose. I spent some time in the Third District a while ago. Got attacked by tons of heartless. I can't help but imagine what it would be like to a person who couldn't fend themselves or didn't have backup like I did." The blond man spoke up.

"Well, to be able to survive a foray into the Third District... that speaks much of your abilities," Lavender replied.

"It's business time," He said as he stepped closer to the desk.

"Well, if you've come to offer your services, you've come to the right place," Lavender replied as she raised her left hand and performed a flick of her left wrist. The air moved as a violet aerowhip moved from her hand and pulled a nearby swivel chair over to the front of the desk. "Here, take a seat," Lavender gestured towards the chair that was offered to Quin.

"For starters, do tell me a bit about yourself." Lavender said as she looked Quin up and down.

I'm assuming I should post again, since not much will go on in this thread to the point where it should be structured like an event.

Quin was impressed. Her words were chosen wisely, and her control of air was great enough to the point where the chair spun around and slowly stopped directly behind his knees, without touching his legs, but less than a tenth of an inch away.

He took the seat and tried to think of where to start.

"My life is not very exciting. I've had the power to control dark matter, and to an extent dark energy, for as long as I can remember. Most of the people who attend Hyakuji were probably born with their powers, so that's not surprising.

"I consider myself an advocate of the light, and as such my powers can be very deadly to the heartless and the supernatural in general. I've accepted that the supernatural exists, simply because I've seen it personally. When it comes to the universe, most of the laws cannot be bent and are very powerful laws indeed. So I highly doubt there will ever be something supernatural to the point where my abilities will be ineffective and rendered useless. Simply put, I cannot be stopped. But I digress . . ."

He knew he sounded arrogant, but he knew in due time he'd gain the respect, and in turn respect the members and friends. He would probably go down in the books as the serious guy in the group and believed a degree of seriousness was always called-for, especially in the scheme of something as grand as the protection of the worlds.

"If you guys will have me, I'd love help stop the darkness from spreading."

Star laughed at Lavender's reaction, a grin on her face as she turned to face Pajama Dude. "He'll find out sooner or later, if he's new," she said, with a wink. Ah, Arcadia. The single, largest organization dedicated to eradicating the Heartless threat, but it wasn't without the office gossip. And the betting. She wouldn't forget the betting. Especially since she had her hands in both the rumor mill and the betting pool.

But that was typical Star. She smiled and placed her hands behind her back, taking a step to the side as Lavender's Aerowhip came through to get to the chair. She hadn't left the office yet, though. This was interesting enough that she wanted to see it through to the end. Besides, she wanted some of those cookies. She leaned over and opened the paper bag, taking out one and biting into it as Lavender and Pajama Dude continued their discussion.

Star whistled. "Third District. And you've still got your Heart. Impressive." She leaned back against the wall so that she could hear his answer. He sounded overly formal, but she got a lot of that from Meglumar, so she was used to it. "We'll have you," she said, beating Lavender to the punch. "Here, take a cookie. I'm Star, by the way. I'm with the Fire Division. Nice to meet you!" She grinned at him cheerfully as she handed out the bag.

The door swung open, crashing loudly as Jameson burst into the office. e was practically mummified in bandages. His arms and chest were completely covered, so much so he didn't eve bother to wear a shirt. The news he had was way too exciting for that! He rushed into the room, limping heavily on his cane. His one good eye fixed on Lavender and eager with excitement!

"LAVENDER LAVENDER!" He shouted as he entered. "We figured it out!" Jameson said eagerly. "The tenth world.. The hidden one.. Using the data from those who escaped Florencia we tracked the world they went to!"

He said all this practically in one breath. "This world is gonna be VITAL, I can FEEL IT!" He said energetically. "I'm already arranging a quick scouting mission, I just need you to OK... it.."

He blinked, a dumb expression convering his face, "Star.. Pajamma boy..?" He said confused. "YOU IDIOTS! Don't just barge into Lavender's office without permission when we're discussing classified information of the tippity top most secretness!" He said pointing at then, obviously both annoyed and unaware he was the one who had barged in.

"He'll find out sooner or later, if he's new," Star was clearly enjoying the rise she got out of Lavender as she wore a grin on her face. The aeromancer sighed and decided to ignore Star at this point - she was clearly giving the photomancer more arrows to shoot her with if she continued to pursue the matter.

"Third District. And you've still got your Heart. Impressive." Star whistled as she leaned against a nearby wall.

Lavender nodded as Quin sat down and introduced himself. "My life is not very exciting. I've had the power to control dark matter, and to an extent dark energy, for as long as I can remember. Most of the people who attend Hyakuji were probably born with their powers, so that's not surprising." Dark energy manipulation? Now that was a pretty interesting ability, and not to mention potent when used masterfully. And then he started getting to the part about how he considered himself an advocate of light. Lavender sighed inwardly at that part - what a blowhard! Still, if he was able to survive a foray into the Third District with all its Heartless, he must have had some pretty admirable skills, or his power is indeed this potent. For now, she resisted the temptation to try out Quin's fighting abilities with a little one-on-one sparring session in the gym. "If you guys will have me, I'd love help stop the darkness from spreading." He finished.

"We'll have you," Star spoke up, beating Lavender to the punch and in turn eliciting a raised eyebrow from the aeromancer.

"Why of course," Lavender replied with a smile. "Your goals are truly heroic, and Arcadia welcomes anyone who would seek to combat the Heartless and protect the realms."

"Here, take a cookie. I'm Star, by the way. I'm with the Fire Division. Nice to meet you!"

"And I am Lavender Smith, leader of Arcadia," Lavender added. "Glad to have you in our ranks... whatever your name is. Now, if you would follow me, and I will show you around-" Lavender blinked once more in surprise as Jameson burst - or rather, limped - into her office, all bandaged up like a mummy - the detective was topless save for the bandages wrapping his chest and arms, his good eye fixated on Lavender, glimmering with excitement.

"LAVENDER LAVENDER! We figured it out!" Jameson shouted, barely able to contain his enthusiasm.

"I am right in front of you, Jameson. No need to shout..." Lavender muttered her reply as she raised a hand, signaling the one-eyed super sleuth to calm down.

"This world is gonna be VITAL, I can FEEL IT! I'm already arranging a quick scouting mission, I just need you to OK... it.." Jameson pretty much spewed it all out in a single breath.

"You have my authorization, Jameson." Lavender replied, nodding. "But you're going to have to get Liz to get those wounds of yours healed up first," the aeromancer pointed to Jameson's bandaged chest. While it has already been a long time ago, Lavender was still mindful of Jameson's last foray into Niwa on non-Arcadia business with his proteges Ewan and Yumi that somehow caused him to come back with bullet wounds and in a pretty bad shape.

"Star.. Pajama boy..?" Jameson looked confused. "YOU IDIOTS! Don't just barge into Lavender's office without permission when we're discussing classified information of the tippity top most secretness!"

"For the record Jameson, I was expecting Star," Lavender replied, scratching the back of her head. "However stunning your news were, your arrival was unexpected."

"Cor blimey, you could've waited for me to finish ironing your shirt!" Selene burst into the office at this point, holding a clean and smartly-ironed, fresh out of laundry dress shirt in her hands. "How am I going to explain things to Yumi-san if those wounds started bleeding again?" The Briton huffed, before looking up to notice Lavender, along with Star and Quin in the office.

"Sorry!" Selene apologized as she stepped back, before turning her head in Quin's direction. "I say, are you new to the ranks of Arcadia?"

"The guy with one eye is Jameson," Lavender said to Quin. "From the Fire Division and one of the co-leaders of Arcadia. That redhead with the Oxford accent is Selene, also from the Fire Division." Lavender looked at Selene - who smiled and bowed slightly; then at Star. "And the blond girl who introduced herself earlier is exactly who she says she is - Star, Fire Division."

Star blinked as the door burst open and Jameson entered the room. He found something about Florencia? Well, then she wanted to go! She wasn't likely to go berserk again and start attacking allies, after all. At least she didn't think she was. "Oh! You see it too?" she asked Jameson as he called Pajama Dude "pajama boy". "They're awesome pajamas though..."

"Selene!" said Star, turning towards the door as Selene walked in, a grin on her face. She ran forward and gave the other girl an energetic hug. Okay, so she didn't really know Selene very well, but Selene had been one of the people to help her at Shinya, before they split the party anyway, so that had to count for something, right? Right? She let go of Selene and backed up, turning towards Jameson and placing her hands on her hips.

"Hey, if you're going to that other world, I wanna come!" she said, "Damon says I'm safe now and I'm not likely to try and kill you all again." Those words were never meant to be said in that cheerful whiny voice. The effect was just wrong. "Besides, I got a keyblade! It's awesome!"

"Selene!"
"How am I going to explain things to Yumi-san if those wounds started bleeding again?"

... Most of the chatter was left unnoticed by someone who came in from the closet. She had her headphones framing her blonde hair and was mostly just pirouetting around unnoticed until she saw some of the paper that was under Lavender's desk.

...

"... Uwaaaah! The boss is doing another doujin!" EveLiz said loudly before diving under Lavender's desk and yanking the papers out from under it.

... Apparently, this time it was a magical girl one.

She scrutinized it for a bit. For one, it depicted someone who looked like Chizu as a magical girl fighting against a dark magical girl and her maid who looked like Otoha and a mellower version of Aisia respectively. They were also holding Jameson and Damon hostage for some reason using tentacles.

She flipped to the next page.

...

"... I don't think they're supposed to be that big, boss," EveLiz mused.

... Exactly WHAT wasn't supposed to be that big was left up to discussion.

Quin was overwhelmed. The next thing he knew, there were twice the amount of people, all chattering at once, than before.

Quin let them talk at first before thinking of what he should say next. He was not injured and was perfectly able to start working as soon as possible.

The group was preoccupied with the revelation of this new doujin, however.

"Um . . . Well, I was thinking about . . ." Quin began, but was cut off by all the chatter.

Quin was prepared to follow Lavender and probably be initiated or briefed, but that would have to wait a moment or two, he figured.

"Oh! You see it too?" Star couldn't help but mention Quin's style of attire to Jameson. "They're awesome pajamas though..." Things were getting a little chaotic in Lavender's office...

"You know Star, I don't think those are pajamas..." Selene replied, chuckling nervously as she scratched the back of her head with a bemused expression on her face. They looked like pajamas to Star, so she's free to call them whatever she wanted, right?

"I'm sorry, this normally doesn't happen around here," Lavender said to Quin, smiling sheepishly.

"Selene!" The Briton laughed as Star ran forward to give her a hug.

"Hi Star, glad to see you're getting better already," Selene replied cheerfully after the blond photomancer released her and turned her attention towards Jameson, expressing her enthusiasm in joining Jameson's reconnaissance mission to this newly-discovered realm.

"We'll talk about this mission in detail later," Lavender addressed Jameson. "I'll join you at the Control Station in a while." The aeromancer looked at Quin, then back at Jameson.

"Anyway, this is an initiation for a new recruit in our ranks - everybody, back to your posts - now," Lavender asserted herself as she gazed sternly from her desk at Star and Selene. She'd allowed things to get sidetracked a little too much, and now it was back to business. Or not.

"... Uwaaaah! The boss is doing another doujin!" Lavender stared dumbfounded as yet another Arcadian entered her office... from the closet! Before the aeromancer could say or do anything, Eve, currently taking control of Liz's body had reached under her desk and taken out the doujin manuscripts Lavender had been working on prior to Quin's unexpected arrival in her office.

"Liz, wait!" Lavender exclaimed as she jumped out of her chair as the blond Esper began flipping through the pages of the manuscript, waving her arms around.

"... I don't think they're supposed to be that big, boss," EveLiz mused.

"Nooo..." Lavender tried to shout, but her voice seemed to fail her as she could only muster a whimper as she felt her knees grow weak.

Lavender apparently put her foot down, and it did the trick.

After all, Jameson had important information to discuss later on, and business needed to get dun, Quin assumed.

He remained in his seat, unsure of what to do next. He could either rudely assert himself into the situation more so than he already had and get some attention, or he could wait even longer and wait for the eccentrics (not including Jameson, to an extent) to clear out of the office.

Quin mostly wanted to discuss his call of duty. What exactly would his position be and his objectives as a member of Arcadia? Would he be part of the fire team, the elites whose job was to seek and destroy enemy threats. Or would he be on the investigative team? He knew he was good at investigating, but his powers did nothing whatsoever when it came to investigation. He suspected the investigation team was for people whose powers allowed them to do very strange things, like see ghosts and talk to the dead; powers which would be very beneficial to investigation. He knew he was more suited towards the fire division.
