"<... Huh?>" "<What's wrong, Kim?>" Claudia, the Fire Control and Navigation officer for the SDF-1 Macross and presiding officer in charge asked the short-haired radar operator named Kim. "<That's weird... we're detecting a small energy signature that looks similar to a fold somewhere out in the bay... whoa! There are now two IFFs being broadcast from the units! They're registered as...>" She stopped and gasped. Claudia blinked and spoke up, ordering her subordinate to tell her who they were. "<Well... one of them is registered as a ZAFT mobile suit. But the other is... well...>" "<Spill it, Lieutenant! We don't have all day!>" "<... The GAT-X105 Strike Gundam.>" Now it was Claudia's turn to gasp and look at the horizon where two specs could be seen in the distance from the bridge of the SDF-1. "<... Good God, she's come back.>" Soon enough, both suits would reappear over the Sea of Japan near Hatsunejima, and no longer in the battle for Atami City. They were here for one and one purpose only. To finish each other off. Aisia gripped the controls and pointed at Ayane's Impulse with her beam rifle. "<From here on out, it's just you, and me. No powers, nothing. Just our suits. I'm not sure that you're going to keep your end of the bargain though, so... if you do use them, I won't hold back with my own.>" She wasn't going to attack just yet, but rather waited for the other girl's response. |

All of a sudden, the warring skies of Atami vanished, replaced with the all-too-familiar vista above Hatsunejima. As if she'd just been there yesterday, there was the crescent island with the towering pylons of the SDF-1 Macross standing proudly in the middle of its bay. So... she was thinking the same thing. That makes things easier, Ayane mused before the comm crackled to life and Aisia's face appeared. "<From here on out, it's just you, and me. No powers, nothing. Just our suits. I'm not sure that you're going to keep your end of the bargain though, so... if you do use them, I won't hold back with my own,>" the other girl spoke angrily as her Gundam pointed its beam rifle towards the Blast Impulse and waited. Ayane merely chuckled and hit the comm switch, re-enabling her microphone. "<Understood," was all she said in response before killing the open communications line once more. There would be nothing more to say to Aisia. This battle would be determined with their mobile suits, not words or magic. Difference being... I can't be defeated. Not by the Strike! Right now, she was at something of a disadvantage having run out of missiles, forced to face Aile Strike face-to-face as Blast. At this range, though, even jettisoning the pack wouldn't be to her advantage. She'd have to get some distance first! The quickest-firing weapons she had left were the railguns over her shoulders and the beam rifle, so she fired those at Strike to cover her retreat! |

"<Understood.>" Those were the only words she said before killing communications. Aisia then aimed her rifle at Ayane as the latter began to retreat back and opened fire. ... She must have used up all of her weapons back there... "<... You always did use too much force,>" she muttered as she decided to raise her shield instead of opening fire to block the incoming attacks, letting the anti-beam shield absorb some of the hits. She then flipped a switch on her console as soon as Ayane was at a good distance. "<If you want to fight from a distance, here!>" [CAST OFF | CAST ON | CHANGE LAUNCHER] As soon as she changed to Launcher Strike, she aimed her Agni Impulse Cannon and let loose a single shot at the retreating Impulse and slowly moved towards the island! |

Ayane smiled as she saw Strike retreat as well, flipping parts over to Launcher Strike in an instant. While that sure seemed like an egregious use of powers--didn't Strike have to RTB to change packs?--Ayane ignored it. Aisia was levelling the playing field a little, which was all right. The Impulse still had an overall advantage! One she'd reveal immediately. Keying in a command on her console, she blocked the incoming Agni shot much as Aisia had blocked the railgun shots moments earlier. While she still had no idea where they were being sent from, the Sword Silhouette appeared on cue, with Blast Silhouette ejecting from the Impulse's back. Instead of fly back, though. she had set it to cover her transformation. The Blast Silhouette dropped under Impulse and flew right at Launcher Strike! Meanwhile, Sword Silhouette slammed into the back of Impulse, and the Gundam's armor shifted to red. For the moment it just hovered there with beam rifle and shield still in hand, glaring down at the Strike. "<Melee isn't my style... but I'm here to win.>" |

While the Strike was originally meant to RTB to change packs, it had changed so much over the course of Aisia's adventures that it could simply do just that instead. However, it was apparent that this suit was able to do the same, even using the jettisoned pack as a weapon aimed at her! Even in its development phase, the Agni shot wasn't made to shoot consecutively, but at this distance it was enough time for her to shoot the Agni shot through the jettisoned pack, blowing the improvised projectile to pieces as it approached her. Inside, Aisia was not crying. Not anymore. She had no tears for this fight... she had shed all of them long ago, and she was here to win as well. It was faster to simply raise the anti-ship Gun Pod on her right shoulder at the Impulse and let loose with missiles and vulcans, while she let the Agni Cannon charge itself up. Even so, she kept flying closer to the islands so as to give them a different battleground. And while she hated having to fight so close to the place she once called home, she also stopped caring at this point. At the very least, they would fight in the wooded areas near the mountains to the south of the island. What made it even more eerie was the fact that the cherry blossoms were in full bloom... "<Just as planned... so far,>" Ayane reassured herself as Aisia blew the Blast Silhouette into pieces. It was the most assured way to destroy something with that much mass after all; but using the Agni meant she'd have to wait before being able to fire again. It was a matter of mere seconds, a half minute at the absolute most. However, those 30 seconds were 30 seconds where Aisia's only options would be to run, try the Launcher's smaller weapons, or switch. She'd gone with the first two options, continuing her descent towards Hatsunejima while spreading cover fire from the machine cannon and missile pod. Ayane charged right in, using the Impulse's chest-mounted CIWS to knock out the incoming missiles and her shield to block the vulcan rounds as the gap quickly closed. After all, that's Launcher's weakness... unlike Blast, it has no defensive capability, she thought with a smile, watching as Strike's form began to grow in her monitors. For now, she took aim with her beam rifle and fired two shots, aiming for the Agni cannon. It'd be ready to fire within moments, so if she could just distract Aisia long enough to forget about it, this would be simple. |

Aisia grit her teeth as she sidestepped the shots by dodging to the right. They were finally reaching the mainland itself, and she could only hope that nobody would interfere with them as they fought. It was a risk, but it was one that had consequences that she didn't care about at all at this point. Sure enough, Ayane did realize Launcher's weakness. It was her form after all when she was still a Strike Ranger, after all. However, what she didn't know was how much it changed. While it still needed to charge for a sustained shot, when Liz repaired it, it went through a number of upgrades - one of them being that she could still fire normal shots while charging for a sustained shot. And it was just about finished charging right about now. At this range, it would be pretty hard to miss. "<FALL!>" she yelled as she unleashed one normal shot from her Agni cannon, sending the Gundam back from the recoil... but then followed it up by unleashing a fully-charged and sustained shot! Ayane would be sure to dodge the first volley... but once she did, she could lead her second shot to her! |

The Strike dodged right, swiftly maneuvering out of the way of Ayane's beam shots. And as Ayane had predicted, her next move was to heft the Agni cannon and fire. With a smile, Ayane rolled the Sword Impulse right, watching the plasma shot fly past. "<Too eas-->" Her monitors went red. Even though she had dodged the Agni Cannon just now, she somehow found herself looking down the barrel once more as it glowed brightly. ...what!? How could it have charged that quickly!? The Strike was never capable of that! Ghh! However, complaining about it wasn't going to allow her to survive. She had to act--fast! The plasma shot, fully charged, tore away from the Strike's massive weapon for the Impulse. For a second, it seemed like it worked. Impulse didn't move away. On closer inspection, though, Aisia would find that somehow, the beam had gone through Impulse. Under the beam were its legs, and above it was the chest section, its beam rifle once more aimed at Strike as it opened fire. She'd separated the Core Splendor! Don't you get it, Aisia? You can't win. There's no way for you to defeat a Gundam designed to outclass you in every way no matter how hard you try. I'll always have a way to beat you... always! |

"!" She "Tch'd" a bit at the sudden maneuver. So it's a modular machine that easily separates, huh?... That pretty much lowered her options. Using beam weaponry meant that she could just separate the parts to dodge. But... how vulnerable were the parts after they separated? She would have to find out another way. She let go of the Agni Cannon, turning off the sustained shot and dodged to the left this time. At the same time, she pulled a lever once more to change parts - it was one of the few things that it was able to do the same way as the Impulse. [CAST OFF | CAST ON | CHANGE IWSP] She didn't know what other forms the other Gundam had, but seeing how limited their use of the IWSP was, she had no idea if Ayane knew what else it did. She landed on the ground, causing the fallen cherry blossoms to disperse around her and fly into the air like so much confetti. The trees weren't going to be much cover, but cover was still cover. With that, she let loose with a volley of beam gatling shots at the enemy above her! |

Ayane indeed wasn't familiar with this new form of the Strike. From its looks, it had a large shield with built-in gatling, and some sort of cannons on its shoulders. While Aisia had transformed, Ayane reformed the Sword Impulse and continued her descent while watching carefully. What pack is that? I don't recall seeing it... well, that's fine. Once more, she shunted power into the shield's VPS system and ran straight into the Strike's path of fire. It ate away at her battery power to do it, but it meant she could take the beam gatling head-on! Rather than try to target through the trees, though, she switched her beam rifle away and grasped one of the beam boomerangs, tossing it in the general direction of the source of that gatling fire. It might hit, it might not. It might hit on its way back around, it might not. Most importantly, it gave her a chance to retrieve one of the Excalibur anti-ship swords from its rack and activate it, the purple beam sizzling to life across its massive gap. With all those weapons on the Strike, she had to take this up close and personal! She hadn't seen any melee weapons on that new pack, after all... |

It was actually supposed to have melee weapons. The two slots on the back were supposed to be for the Grand Slam swords, but because it was left relatively incomplete by the time she stole it, they were never really implemented. The IWSP, after all, was supposed to be the implementation of all of the combined firepower of all the packs. Aisia, on the other hand, mostly saw it as an anti-riot unit, used to destroy many enemies at once. However, considering that she only had ONE enemy to deal with... She saw the boomerang being flung at her, and she sighed. Your suit may be more powerful... but I KNOW how to use this one! Without letting up on her barrage, she simply shifted her aim at the boomerang, shooting the projectile down in the process. She didn't know if it would destroy it, but it certainly stopped its rate of travel. She wasn't done though. She led her target and unleashed a pair of railgun shots from her shoulder cannons at where Ayane would end up at her current trajectory! She wasn't going to let her get any closer! Indeed, as the gatling swept sideways and its massive shells slammed into the boomerang, the thrown weapon was quickly overwhelmed and erupted into a fireball ineffectively. Ayane frowned, watching how quickly Aisia took care of that then returned to opening fire on the Impulse itself, even unleashing blasts from the shoulder cannons this time right in the way. "Tch..." Rather than waste any more battery power on trying to get closer, she dropped power to the shield and let it take the railgun blasts. It wouldn't last much longer, as the blasts blew craters into its once-perfect surface. That was all right... she just needed it to last for one shot. Stopping her approach she threw the shield to Aisia's right, the side of Strike that didn't have that massive deadly shield on it. As soon as she did the left hand grabbed the beam rifle and fired at the shield's surface, the shield reflecting her beam at the Strike's massive backpack from the right! If that didn't work she'd have to find another plan. Aisia didn't look like she was going to let up and allow Sword Impulse into effective range. And unfortunately, while splitting Impulse into sections was effective against slow-firing beam weapons, that gatling fired much too quickly to dodge that way. Rushing head-first isn't going to work as long as she has that pack equipped, and I can't use powers to close the gap. This'll require tactics instead of force. If I can't overpower her, I'll just have to think of something else. Come on, Isuzu... there's gotta be something around here you can use... |

Throwing the shield? Why would you- That became apparent when Ayane aimed the beam rifle at it and used the shield to ricochet the beam off of it! There wasn't much time to react. She could only inch the Gundam a bit to the left before the shot hit. It wasn't a clean miss, as the shot did manage to hit the backpack, damaging the right booster and reducing mobility. Not that she'd need it though at the moment... she was fine with staying where she was. Of course, now that Ayane was lacking a shield, she could pepper the Impulse with as much beam gatling fire as her ammo capacity held. However, it would be more prudent to force her to move where she wanted her. Once more, she shifted the angle on her shoulder railguns and opened fire, but this time one at Ayane's left and the other at Ayane's right. It was the same tactic she did to her earlier back in Atami city, except she only needed both the left and right railguns. the Z axis was closed off to one spot, and that was up! And that was where Aisia aimed her beam gatling as she unleashed another barrage, aiming this time for somewhere along the Impulse's chest and neck area! |

Ayane indeed saw what Aisia was doing with her fire. She'd recognize that tactic anywhere, which is why she knew that there were actually four possible directions if you thought it through. If your immediate left and right were cut off, you could either go straight forward--not the best idea, but an option--fly backward, go up... or down. Which is what Ayane did, hitting her thrusters inverted and soaring below the edge of the island, out of Aisia's firing arc. There she'd stay, flying along the beach edge away from the Strike. Since she couldn't overpower the Strike's current form and staying there would just end up a battle of attrition, she needed to escape for a bit and rethink her tactics. Not to mention, the battery wasn't going to last a whole bunch longer. Having abused the VPS like that took a good toll on its reserves, so she probably only had five minutes left in it if she didn't recharge real soon. Problem is... it'll take ten seconds at least to recharge, and I won't be able to move during that time. I have to secure a safe place first. She looked back to where the Strike was, watching to see if Aisia would decide to give chase or just stay where she was and wait. Now then... what will you do, Aisia |

This isn't working. Aisia pulled on the lever again to change forms! [CAST OFF | CAST ON | CHANGE LIGHTNING] She suddenly transformed into that of Lightning Strike! Why would she change packs in the middle like that with Ayane now skirting the edge of the island? Simple. IWSP was meant for more general purpose bombardment with its gatling and shoulder railguns. But she wasn't trying to destroy the island, heavens no. The last thing she needed was so much collateral damage. Instead, she would have to switch to a more precision-based attack. The Type 70-31 Electromagnetic cannons unfolded themselves under her arms, and she combined them together to create a single cannon! "<Eat this!>" She fired off two shots - one directly at the Impulse and the other just slightly above it. If she tried to do that separation bit again, she could blow the top half to smithereens as a result! |
