Chizu really wasn't in the habit of getting whisked off to strange places by guys with giant robots. It was a very good thing she wasn't afraid of heights, otherwise she might find this whole set-up just a little disconcerting. As it was, Chizu kept an eye on the scenery below her so that she could find out where they were, and probably escape if she needed to, and wondered as her hair got in her face for the tenth time that day if it would ever be the same again.

Probably, after a really painful brushing later that evening. But she was an aeromancer and used to it. What she wasn't used to, however, was the fact that the metal was cold, and so was the wind, so she was effectively freezing out here. Which meant she really hoped they arrived soon.

Are you sure about this? asked Aether.

It's not like I can't jump out anytime. I just don't want him to know that until I actually have to. replied Chizu. Which meant no, she wasn't sure about this, but Koori hadn't tried to kill her yet, so that had to be a good sign.

The Wolf
In the cockpit, Wolf reappeared, again perched on Koori's shoulder. "I've contacted the client and sent the report. He would like to meet with you within the next twenty-four hours," she said, then glanced at the HUD. She enlarged the part that showed the girl, who appeared to be shivering. "Are you sure this is a good idea? We could just alter her memory and leave her somewhere," she sounded peeved about something.

Koori sighed, "I told you, I only want to use that as a last resort. Besides, you know that, unless it is done by a professional, memory alteration can easily go wrong, and I won't risk collateral damage on a mission, that's why I'm a sniper. You know all that, so why are you being like this." As he spoke, the mech began to lose altitude, heading for a specific warehouse in the middle of an abandoned part of the city.

This time it was wolf's turn to sigh, "I know, you don't like getting outsiders involved, but I'm worried. After all, she was fast enough to get a blade to your neck. If you didn't have your concealed guns, you could have died. And she has those weird powers. I just don't like it." She sounded grumpy again at the end.

Koori smiled, I appreciate your concern, but I won't be caught off guard like that again. I know what her power is now, and I know she can't fully control it, so I should have no problems. And besides, if I do get into trouble, I know I can count on you to save me."

Wolf blushed a little at the last comment, but Koori was focusing on landing now, so he didn't see. A moment later they touched the ground in front of a large, dark warehouse. A beam of light came from the mech and connected with a panel on the door, which began to open. Once they were inside it began to close, and lights flickered on, revealing a space full of high tech equipment. Koori lowered the mech's arm to the ground. "You can get off now," he said through the speakers.

We're losing altitude.

Got anymore "useful" information? asked Chizu sarcastically. She leaned back against the metal of the hand, feeling the shift in the wind as the mecha began nearing the ground. For a moment, Chizu felt a sudden flutter of panic at being in a descent that she was not controlling, but the moment quickly passed. Chizu had been an aeromancer long enough that she knew that she was in no danger from the heights.

She watched as the warehouse opened, jumping down from her perch on the hand when he told her to get off. "Finally," said Chizu, running a hand through her hair which was, as expected, a tangled mess. She sighed and gave up, settling on brushing it out of her face as she turned towards Koori. She folded her arms. She had seen enough of suspicious warehouses to last a lifetime, thank you very much.

"So...exactly how long are you planning to keep me here?" she asked, wondering exactly where she stood in all of this. As far as she knew, he could have decided to keep her captive or kill her or something like that. In which case, she'd just have to fight him and leave, which was something she wasn't looking forward to doing.

When she had gotten off, chest of the mech opened and Kazuma leapt down, landing lightly on the concrete below. As he stood, so did the mech, the chest plate closed and it made its way over to a corner of the warehouse that was walled off from the rest. As the mech stopped, robotic arms began extending from the walls, attaching cables to the body. A thin beam of light from the mech connected with a computer in the middle of the room. Then Wolf appeared next to it, lines of code running down her semitransparent body as she ran checks on the CREED's systems.

Meanwhile, Koori came and stood in front of Chizu, looking her in the eyes with his clear, golden ones. When he spoke his voice was casual, "How long you have to stay here? Well, that all depends on you. In a few minutes, I will contact my client via a video conference. Afterward, I will get some sleep and then leave for my home world. Now, you have two choices: you can stay here till I leave, without making a fuss, and leave without incident; or you can try to escape, in which case I will have no choice but to bring you with me and have your memory altered, after which you will be returned here. It's up to you, but I must warn you, I know what your power is, and that you don't have very good control over it yet, and that I can shoot faster than you can move." He let the last comment hang in the air, then turned to a corner of the warehouse that appeared to be living quarters, with a bed and other pieces of furniture arranged in an orderly fashion. As he walked away, small drops of blood fell to the floor. "Now, if you will excuse me, I need to change my shirt," he said, then added almost under his breath, "Can't very well meet the client in a bloody shirt, even if the shirt is red."

Chizu weighed her options. On one hand, she was fairly confident in her ability to get out of just about any situation. On the other hand, she didn't really know this place. On one hand, she was sure that if Koori couldn't reach his gun, she could take him out. On the other hand, she wasn't sure Koori couldn't reach his gun. One night, versus having someone either kill her or mess with her memories.

She leaned against the nearest wall and folded her arms defiantly. "Just tell me this," she said, "Why wait until tomorrow to let me go? Why not let me go now?" That was the part that didn't really make sense to her. Did it matter? She just wanted to be out of here and forget that she ever met the man.

Koori walked over to his bed and sat down with a sigh, rubbing his head, "I can't let you go now because I can't risk being caught. That vampire might have been a scum bag, but that doesn't change the fact that I'm the one who killed him. It would be inconvenient if I got caught, and no matter what you say, I can't be sure you wont go running off to find the cops. So until I can't be caught, you will stay here."

He paused for a moment to take off his shirt, which had a fairly large cut in it. Underneath the shirt, his body was tight and compact, thin but obviously almost solid muscle, and covered in scars, with a new cut, long but shallow, across his chest. He examined the cut with a mirror, then pressed a button on a panel next to his bed, and a tiny robot wheeled onto the bed and up his arm to the injury. The robot scanned the cut, then it opened to reveal a little spray nozzle. It ran over the cut, spraying a clear liquid onto it. A moment later, the cut was closing, contracting, as if it were being sewn up. Once it had closed, the robot went over it again, this time spraying a white liquid, which hardened in seconds to form a protective covering. That done, the robot went back to its container at the foot of the bed, and Koori put on a new shirt, throwing the old one away, since it would be a pain to try to get all that blood out.

Once that was all done, Koori got back to his feet. "Now then, if you understand, then you are free to make yourself at home. If you have any questions, just ask Wolf here," he said, gesturing to the semitransparent girl.

Wolf nodded to Chizu then turned to Koori, "Everything is fine with the CREED. You want me to open a Com channel to the client?"

"Please," he said. A small holographic screen appeared before him and he moved away, out of earshot of Chizu.

Chizu clenched her teeth together and forced herself not to swear at him for his response. It made sense, and more than that, it made the kind of practical sense that she respected when it wasn't played against her and hated when it was. She wasn't entirely sure she wouldn't have gone straight to the cops either. That really didn't matter now, because it looked like she was out of options.

She settled for folding her arms and rolling her eyes as Koori took off his shirt. He felt the need to do that here in front of her because...? He probably didn't have company very often. Given a choice, she wouldn't associate with someone like him either. She muttered a few choice words under her breath and watched the robot. She would have liked to have something like that, it would get her back out there faster.

But if there was one thing that proved God existed, it was that Chizu had never been born with the ability to heal. She knew she would never be able to keep out of a fight if she had. Aether, she thought towards the wind elemental, knowing he would immediately know what she wanted. Aether didn't reply, but she thought she felt him nod. He'd go and tell Damon that she wouldn't be coming home tonight and hopefully he'd return. Chizu always felt a little insecure without him there.

She stuffed her hands in her pockets and glanced at Wolf as Koori left the room, her expression sullen. One of these days, she was going to learn to mind her own business. She didn't see that day coming in the near future though. But for now, she would relent. She sighed and ran a hand through her hair. "Got any food?" she asked, wincing as her fingers caught a tangle. "...And maybe a brush?"

Wolf considered her for a moment before answering, "Well, Koori will probably be cooking something after he talks to the client, if you can wait that long. If not, there is food in the refrigerator, so you can see if there is anything you want. For your hair, you can use this." She pointed at a small box near the bed, which opened to reveal a mass of green gel. "This nano-gel will take any form the user specifies, in this case: Gel, form hairbrush." At her command the gel changed shape and hardened into a hairbrush. "If you need anything else, ask and I will see what I can do."

In the other room, Koori sat on a folding chair and opened the Com channel. A shadowy silhouette appeared on the screen, and a synthesized voice asked, "Is everything taken care of?"

"Yes, he is dead, and no one will know you had anything to do with it," Koori said. "Now then, concerning the payment, I've decided to cut it in half. The mission was easier than I thought."

The man was silent for a moment, then said,"I appreciate that. I'll put the money in the account you indicated. It's been a pleasure doing business with you."

Koori chuckled, "Same here," and closed the Com channel.
