It was official. She was drawn to cities.

Not the elemancer side of her, of course. The elemancer side of her liked wide open spaces where she could feel the air and nature was pretty much nature and she could breathe without inhaling God-only-knew how many toxins were hovering around over her head. The elemancer side of her hated them.

But the girl that had spent seven years living in Tokyo was drawn to them.

Chizu watched as the man she kicked in the face fell over, wrinkling her nose slightly as she stuffed her hands in her pockets and continued to walk. He was drunk, she could smell it on him. Then again, drinks were just one of the things you could waste your money on in this town, if you had money to burn. The other was gambling. She wasn't a gambler, but she was starting to think that she really needed a drink.

Not that she had that much money anyway. Besides, if she got drunk, she wasn't sure she wouldn't fight, and if she got into a brawl here, Damon would kill her when she got back.

What was left of her anyway. She glared down at her arms. They were covered in bandages from the wrist to the shoulder, remnants of her attack against the Grim Reaper. If it wasn't for her injuries, well, things could be a lot more interesting. But she wasn't that girl anymore. She didn't need a fight to complete her evening.

She continued to walk through the streets.

Ganta gazed at the brightly lit city as he walked down a crowded sidewalk. He had never been in a city like it before. Of course he had seen a few modern cities since he was brought into this multitude of worlds, but never one so full of people or buildings. He wondered how many people it must take to fill a city like this, and he shook his head as he concentrated on other things.

A few people looked at him with slightly confused looks, but he ignored them. His long black coat and steel gauntlets certainly stood out, as were the green dragons embroidered on his sleeves, glittering in the multitude of lights. He knew his choice of clothing might seem odd to those in this world, but he wore what he liked. As he walked, the number of people on the sidewalk decreased, and the people looked a little less friendly, some of them glaring at him threateningly. He looked around him to find that he had entered an area filled with bars and casinos.

He walked past a group of men who all glared at him and flexed their muscles threateningly, but he ignored them. Apparently they didn't like that too much. "Hey freak." They called, walking up quickly and surrounding him. "These are our streets, you gotta pay up if you wanna make sure nothing bad happens to you." They all grinned at him, thinking they had found easy pickings. "Move it." Ganta said, which only pissed them off even more. "You think you can talk to us like that?" one of them asked. "We'll teach you to show a little more respect." They moved in closer, ready to rush him.

"Which one of you was talking about respect?"

Chizu stepped towards them, glaring at the men that surrounded Ganta. She watched as they turned towards her and could practically see what they were thinking. She was very nearly half their size, and injured as well. The scene would have been laughable, if it wasn't for the fact that she looked so completely sure of her ground and of the fact that she could take them. That certainty was completely lost on them.

They laughed.

She expected them to.

A year ago, she would have attacked here and now, but Chizu had matured since then. She held her ground, giving them the chance to walk away. But they probably wouldn't take it. Who would walk away from an unarmed girl anyway? "Maybe I should show you guys what that word really means," she said, every word a threat. She was just daring them to take her on at this point.

They all looked over at the new girl, surprised at first, then most of them started grinning and laughing sadistically. To them she was just a normal teenage girl. She was injured too, and that only made her look like an even easier target. A few of them moved closer to her, less interested in Ganta now that they had a new target to aim for. "Whats that little girl? You're gonna teach us about respect?" They laughed again and one of them moved closer, a long piece of steel pipe in his hand. "Thats our line." he said, and jumped forward, raising the pipe over his head.

There was a sound of steel hitting steel, a flash of orange light, and in a blur Ganta stood behind the man holding the pipe, now gripping the end of it in his gauntleted hand. "Don't forget about me." He said, holding the pipe still with one hand despite the man's best efforts to get it from his grip. "Leggo!" he yelled. "Better idea, maybe you should let go." The pipe started glowing a deep red around Ganta's fist and the man roared in pain and released the cherry-red metal, his hands now badly burned and speckled with large white blisters.

As the first thug stared at his hands, a second swung at Ganta with a bat, only to have Ganta catch it in his other hand, the wooden shaft suddenly bursting into flames and managing to ruin another pair of hands, the pungent odor of burned flesh in the air. Suddenly finding two of their own taken out, the rest rushed towards both Ganta and the girl, fists and weapons raised.

The moment the man moved to intercept the one holding the pipe, Chizu moved as well, sweeping her leg out and catching two of them by the ankles. She straightened up, twisting to the side and dodging a punch. Chizu's right arm swept out, catching a glancing blow on the forearm from a wooden club and driving it away from her as the heel of her left hand clipped her attacker's chin.

Chizu winced at the sting in her right arm. Yeah...bad idea. She almost forgot the cuts were there. She didn't stop, though, swinging her body around and planting her foot squarely into her attacker's chest. He fell over, and she quickly ducked as a metal pipe swung over her head. She counted the people attacking her. There were at least four, maybe more.

Four to one...think it'll be fair to use aeromancy now?

Aether's voice sounded faintly amused. I suppose, since you're arms are injured.

Right, said Chizu in reply. The tip of a bat clipped her cheek, hard enough to bruise. If she hadn't moved out of the way, it would have been her head. She caught a punch, deliberately avoiding blocking it with her arms as she called up the wind around her. The wind suddenly exploded outwards around her, sending the people surrounding her stumbling back and giving her a lot more room to work.

"Sorry," Chizu said with a grin. "As you can see, I can't afford to hold back." She gestured at her bandaged arms, then launched herself at one of the men at a speed that blinded. Chizu pulled her arm back, the wind encasing her fists as she punched him in the stomach. He went flying, hitting a wall.

"You alright back there?" she called towards Ganta, turning around to dodge a strike headed for her.

Ganta wasn't too surprised to see the girl get to work on a quartet of attackers, seeing as she had been so eager to take them on in the first place. For the time being he left her to it trusting she knew what she was doing. In the mean time, the rest of the group were gunning for him, hoping to drop him quickly. He grinned slightly As another baseball bat came down on him, only to snap in two upon hitting the extension of his gauntlet that covered his forearm. The attacker then got one fist in his gut and the other in his face, knocking him into the side of a building.

The next one came up behind him and took an elbow to the jaw, while another started slashing at Ganta with a butterfly knife. The blast of wind informed him that his compatriot was an aeromancer, quite interesting. He moved to the side as the razor sharp knife passed his cheek close enough for him to almost feel it.

The knife wielder seemed to have caught on to the mistakes his friends had made, and attacked quickly with jabs to keep a safe distance. However, he over extended himself, allowing Ganta to let the man's arm slide under his own, wrapping it around his assailants limb and snapping the bone cleanly in two. He let go as the broken arm bent in unsettling ways, and grabbed him again to hurl him at another would-be attacker.

"Never better."

A hard right hook grazed his cheek but the one swinging at him received a swift chop to the back of the neck, putting his face to the pavement. He whirled to find that the only sound left was groans of pain from the thugs who were still conscious. "What, over already?" Ganta said mockingly before turning back to his temporary fighting partner. "You alright?"

Chizu winced as she elbowed someone in the gut, pain shooting through her injured arm. She was sure she had re-opened a few of the wounds. She straightened up and glanced at her arms. Red spots had formed beneath the bandages in places. Chizu winced. Damon was going to kill her when she got home.

"Alright," said Chizu, holding up her arms slightly, "Could do without these damn wounds, but, otherwise good." As she spoke, she casually stepped on the hand of a man reaching for his knife. Chizu glared down at him, the wind forming in a thin line between her fingers and his neck. The man would be able to feel the slight pressure there, as a blade formed, pricking him just enough to release a drop of blood.

"If I were you," she said slowly, lifting her foot off his hand, "I wouldn't do that." She watched as he scuttled back, nursing his injured hand. She thought she felt something break. She looked away from him, looking back up at Ganta. "So," she said, reaching up and pulling her hair out of her face, pushing it behind her. It always got tangled after a fight. "I'm Chizu," she said, as if nothing had happened.

Ganta nodded and walked over to where his new companion was dealing with the last one that had any fight in him, and watched as he fell over himself trying to get away from her. Ganta saw one of them starting to get up again, but a swift kick to the head put that to an end. Honestly, these guys had been stubborn. They had either been braver than most, or just plain stupid. He tended to think the latter was more likely.

"Ganta, its a pleasure." He replied, his face less serious now and more friendly. He held out his hand for her to shake, the gauntlet now quite cool to the touch, though still a little warmer than steel would normally be when worn like that. I take it you are an aeromancer, or perhaps someone with equivalant powers?" He had felt that intense blast of wind and seen the slightest outline of a blade around her hand a moment ago. "Though I am sure this was already obvious, I'm a pyromancer." His green eyes seemed to glow like coals for a moment before they returned to normal.

"Cool," said Chizu, reaching up and briefly clasping hands with Ganta, a grin on her face. Fighting together with someone was a quick way for Chizu to make friends...it had been the only way she had made friends, in fact, until she joined Hyakuji and discovered that she was normal there.

She let go of his hand and nodded. "Yeah, I'm an aeromancer," she said. "It comes in handy a lot." She had noticed him make use of fire earlier. Pyromancers sometimes leaned a little too far towards the destructive, but Chizu didn't particularly mind. As long as they weren't pyromaniacs, she found that she identified with them a lot better than she did with other elemancers.

Something about the element reflecting the personality...or something like that. "So, Ganta, you from around here?" she asked. It was really hard to tell with the multi-verse in the mess it was these days.

"I have no doubt it does." It seemed just about every one of their attackers had finally passed out from the pain, and now things were a bit more quiet without their moaning in pain. He was almost a little disappointed he couldn't have gotten a little more mileage out of them, but he supposed two mages were a bit much for a simple group of street toughs.

He looked at Chizu for a moment, finally getting a good look at her. She was a good deal shorter than him, and looked a few years younger as well. Her hair seemed to be a light purple color. What he noticed most about her was how she carried herself. She seemed strong, and had a certain sense of pride about herself. She certainly was an interesting girl.

He shook his head when she asked him about where he came from. "No, just another poor soul who got thrown into this multitude of worlds. I came from a town called Aridhol, though I was the only one who got pulled into all this" He thought back to his parents and friends, and felt a familiar stab of loneliness. "What about you Chizu?"

Chizu nodded in sympathy, glancing away for a moment. They had all lost some things to the Heartless. She couldn't imagine that there was anyone right now that hadn't, or wasn't about to. "I'm from some place called Hyakuji," she said, "You might have heard of it, a lot of the people from there are all over the place. I think...about half of us made it. The rest...well..."

She didn't like to think about it, not about people like Coryn and Kaede. Not about people that she would in all likelihood never see again. It just hurt way too much to think about it. It was so much easier when she didn't. She looked up at Ganta. "But, hey, when this ends, we can all get our worlds back," she said, a little note of determination in her tone.

She wouldn't let it end like this. Like everything else, she had made a promise. That much was clear based on the bracelet she wore on her hand, and the blue ribbon tied just above it.

A puff of smoke appeared and a figure could be seen standing within it....and remained still......and still stood there..........and kept standing there.........and-

"You used too much smoke powder in the smoke screen again!"a voice yelled.

"Dang, I thought I had it that time,"another voice said. the figure waved the smoke screen away coughing. "Sorry, that was a really lame entrance. Um...I was watching from the shadows and observed you kicking a couple of thugs around and when I heard you mention Hyakuji, well I was kinda glad to hear that more than the handful of people I've already found have made it out,"Ryo said.

OOC: We'll be disregarding Haganashi's post.

"I think I might have heard the name once or twice." It seemed a number of people had been from someplace with that name, though he had never given much attention to the details of the place. His mind was focused on getting back to his own home, he hadn't the time to worry about a world he had never been to and never would. He thought back to his home and his family. His father, strong, stout, and proud, his mother, graceful, loving, and always there when needed. He thought about his little sister, Mira, and how she would be getting ready to begin school as a journeyman mage. He remembered his friends and classmates and the crazy stunts they had pulled. Images of all the old places he had spent his days. The lake behind the school where he and his friends had spent their free periods, the giant tree they had climbed as kids, and even as teens. The little clearing in the woods outside town where he had stolen his first kiss, and the rolling hills surrounding his home that he knew like the back of his hand. All of it came back to him in vivid detail, memories as clear and sharp as photographs.

As his memories flooded over him from the deepest parts of his mind, he got a very far-off look in his eyes, his surroundings forgotten, as was Chizu. Every memory was so powerful, it was as if nothing else existed, there was only him and the bittersweet images racing through his head like a home movie. He almost looked to be in a trance. He had worked hard to keep those memories from resurfacing, but it seemed meeting this girl had caused him to weaken his defenses and now his memories seemed to be making up for all the time he had spent ignoring them. As they started to lose their intensity, Ganta suddenly felt dizzy and awkwardly sat down on the pavement. He hadn't been prepared for the surge of emotion that accompanied his unexpected reminiscing. He propped his arms on his knees as his head hung down and took a shaky breath. A few small tears escaped from the corners of his eyes, partly from all the happiness he had known in his own world, but also from the bitterness of being torn away from it. There were so many things waiting for him, and he didn't know how much longer he could wait.
