Netto: ...I hate it when plans backfire. Randy holds the blue GunDelSol1 in his left armpit as he reaches for a certain special chip. He slots his Synchro Chip into the PET attached to his chest, allowing a second copy of Spectrum to form around him as armor. As the two Spectrums share a mental link, this alerts the first Spectrum that his Possessors had done more harm than good. CrossD. Spectrum: ...dammit. Immediately, CrossDimensional Spectrum (the one Netto summoned) uses the powers of Netto's CrossD. Chip to warp to Netto's location and fuse with him. Now having the power of a Navi backing him up, Netto points his GunDelSol2 down the corridor behind them. He infuses the weapon with Light energy and fires what amounted to a "charge shot" at the nearest Haniwa statues in that direction. After this, he dashes up to whichever statue he manages to hit and slashes at it with his Keyblade. R Spectrum, the fusion of Randy and Spectrum, grips both his own GunDelSols tightly and fires repeatedly at the Haniwa statues that approached from in front, the opposite direction than CrossD. Spectrum was attacking in. They seemed to be sturdy stone warriors, but the Solar Gun was nothing to scoff at either. It was just a shame the guns were already locked in shot mode, as spread mode would have been able to instantly crumble any inanimate object, and stone statues, even mechanized ones, would certainly count. Netto's Custom: 3/8 Netto's Chips: GunDelSol1 (blue gun; Randy's right hand), GunDelSol2 (red gun; Netto's left hand), GunDelSol3 (yellow gun; Randy's left hand), Shadow CrossD. "Crap." That, unfortunately, was the only coherent thought that passed through Star's mind as the statues began to come to life, but considering she was underground with a limited supply of power (and limited space to run for her life, while we're at it), caught between statues and whoever had been holding the Idiot Ball long enough to summon Heartless in an underground tomb full of booby traps. And yes, that was a TVtropes link. Star swallowed, taking a step back towards the center of the group. She wasn't going to rush forward like an idiot. She knew exactly how limited she was in this case, and she wasn't going to make it so that everyone had to protect her. She just hoped it wouldn't come that far, because when it came to that, if she used up all her light here, she was toast later on. She glanced at Meglumar, keeping an eye on the fighting. "I've got your back if anything happens," she told him in passing, hoping that he understood it. He knew her well enough and he wasn't stupid, so chances are, he would. |

"CHOU HENSHIN!" Kouta roared out as he charged on ahead once things got bad to worse, as the Soldiers began their rounds of attacking. While it was unwise to charge into a swarm, Kouta had one advantage: the ability to change forms to match the tide of battle. A brief flash was all that occurred as Kouta shifted from the red Mighty form, to the silver and purple Titan form. The change of form gave Kouta a defense increase that allowed for him to take the Heartless' attacks without so much as flinching, to the point that while he was being attacked, he had resummoned his Keyblade undisturbed, but the weapons form would not remain the same for long, as the moment it fully materialized it was transformed into the purple and gold Titan Sword. And the first order of business was to thrust said sword into the first Soldier he could set his sights on. |

It would take more than just a few Shadows to stop this bunch, that Lavender was sure as the enemy fell swiftly before them. This however only caused the amethyst-haired aeromancer to be on high alert; if the mission is going too smoothly, you can bet that something was not right. "What the?" Lavender hissed as two Possessor Heartless floated towards two of the Haniwa statues that lined the corridor. The aeromancer raised her MP7A1, aiming at the nearest of the two statues. To her surprise, the Heartless were forced out of their would-be vessels by a mysterious force. Without warning, the statues came to life as they stepped off the pedestals towards the group with swords raised, and the remaining statues in the corridor did likewise. Nine acted first as he began firing powerful sonic blasts from his trumpet gun, but the statues were more resilient than they looked - one of them was barely fazed even with its head cracked by a sonic blast. “Watch out, these things won’t go down easily.” Nine warned. "Back to back! Get in a defensive formation!" Lavender yelled over the din of combat. "Weaker combatants, stay in the middle!" The aeromancer decided to focus on the ones in front. Constructs, especially magically-animated ones, were every bit as much of a pain to handle as undead. At least robots can be disabled by targeting vital sensors and circuits - but these? Lavender isn't sure if they had any 'vitals' to begin with. Apparently they weren't made of ordinary terracotta clay; either that, or whatever animates these figurines also granted them with exceptional toughness. "Aim for the limbs - try to break them off at the joints; that should stop them or at least slow them down," Lavender told the rest of the group. That being said, Lavender took aim at the nearest advancing Phantom Haniwa and fired a short burst of three rounds from her submachine gun at the statue's left knee, before firing a second triple burst at yet another Phantom Haniwa's sword arm at the wrist. |

...Why god? Why? Meglumar groaned in visible irritation, getting his sword ready for another challenge. Those possessors were more trouble than they were worth. "This is why I very much dislike heartless." He groaned, sizing up the statues before him. Ugh, he could not tell how effective his sword OR magic would be on them. He needed to think of something quickly. He then hear Star talk to him. "...The same to you." He responded, before sticking his sword into the ground. He reached into his coat and removed one bottle of water. He didn't know WHY Star needed to vocalize that. It was something he felt didn't need to be said. He took aim at one of the statues, then unleashed the contents of the bottle against it, said water being launched at full force and infused with light. It reasoned that the light might somehow penetrate the stone and strike at the heartless. It was better than trying to slice into it, if it WAS stone, and not something more brittle. |

One of these days, he was going to whack Spectrum over the head with a spoiled trout. Although using Possessors seemed to be a useful idea to gain additional ground forces, it was sort of stupid not to use his own programs to detect any form of hidden machinery and weapon systems. Heck, Tango knew better than to arouse any form of army, dead or living, with even the smallest of taps. No matter....he will end Spectrum in due time, for this, and for trying to kill him with Bit Snipers. Preferably with nuclear fallout, or a cement truck burying him beneath 20 feet of dug ground. For now, he weaved through the spears that had a bit more reach than swords, in which he countered with fire. Fire Breath to be exact, spewing down on the clay soldiers with blazing hot heat to melt their shells. One of them glanced off his back right shoulder, which he shrugged off as a scratch since the blade was poorly maintained and a bit rusty.

The Phantom Haniwas were very resilient, as they were made completely out of baked clay, yet being able to move like creature of flesh without breaking themselves apart. What magic that made them move probably lies somewhere in the tomb, but at the moment, our heroes have to worry about surviving this onslaught first. As Nine discovered by shooting relentlessly at them, they don’t go down easily and the loss of a limb or two won’t stop them altogether; some of them that he had shot in the legs only causes them to crawl towards them. And since they’re not essentially alive, shooting them in the head doesn’t work either. “Only way to bring them down is to obliterate them completely and not leave any pieces behind that can harm us.” Nine finally deduced after rendering one Phantom Haniwa into small broken pieces on the ground. Still, the horde persisted, and he ducks under a wide, overhead slash before kicking the Phantom Haniwa in the chest and push it back, causing the rest of them in the back to slow down. At least the narrow corridor was disadvantageous to them as much as it was to the tomb raiders: no more than three Soldiers per line can move. Nine then materializes another trumpet gun from the dark portal and storage space he can utilize, and began pumping an unending blast of sonic rounds into the Phantom Haniwas. More fire from the team erupted, from Netto, Randy and Lavender, which helps to slow the silent stone warriors approach, if not pinning them down and maybe wear them down a bit for the close combatants to easily destroy them down to little pieces; the Phantom Haniwa Soldiers on the first line would be destroyed, shot to many pieces by the combined effort but still more were behind them to replace the fallen. Kouta’s charge into the fray caused the first Phantom Haniwa to crumble into pieces after being stabbed by Kouta’s Titan Sword. One of the Phantom Haniwa soldier who was right behind it was also stabbed, but was still standing straight. At this close a range, the Phantom Haniwa Soldiers slashes at Kouta, hoping to decapitate the armored warrior’s head. Unfortunately for Meglumar, his light infused water trick would have no affect whatsoever on the Phantom Haniwas as they were literally animated empty stone statues. It’s only effect was to just wet the Phantom Haniwa Soldiers and not slow them down one bit; he should be better off striking them with his sword right about now. And it seems that Tango finally decided to return to the ground, so to speak fighting the Phantom Haniwas on foot instead of from the ceiling where it was hiding earlier. Some of the Phantom Haniwa Soldiers that tried to get after it would find the odd looking cat hard to strike. For their trouble, they were blasted with a fire breath, causing some of the Phantom Haniwas to crack and crumble under the intense heat, if not melting on the spot. There were still some left ready to defend the tomb, and our heroes have so far fought valiantly and smartly (except for some which are better left unnamed). Keep it up!

Randy: ...nothing mechanical in the statues. They're being animated through non-technological means. R Spectrum: Tch! Possessing them would have been so useful, too! R Spectrum sighs as he "feels" both his summoned Possessors die while attempting to regain possession of the Haniwa soldier statues. Netto: Nothing to do but smash them to pieces! Netto dissolves his Keyblade. Netto: And how better to blow apart clay than with EXPLOSIVES?! He pulls out his EON-Brand Explosive Pistol™ and fires it at the chests of two of the Haniwa soldiers on his end (the back). He then fires his GunDelSol2 at the soldiers, this time doing as Lavender(?) suggested and aiming for the weaker areas--the joints. CrossD. Spectrum splits off from Netto, both arms turning into busters. Netto: Wha--?! CrossD. Spectrum: We can work faster this way! Come on! CrossD. Spectrum places his busters to either side of Netto's head and fires at the clay Haniwa golems, bursts of water-based energy exploding repeatedly where the Aqua-type Energy Balls landed. Like Netto, Spectrum was aiming for the joints, attempting first to "disarm" the statues nearest the group, then remove their legs before moving on to the next statues in line. Randy realizes his guns aren't doing a great deal of damage, and sends them away. He grabs a metal staff from his waist and pulls it out of its holster, a sword generating over the staff. Randy: Perhaps GramSP will do the trick! Randy infuses GramSP with Light energy, which the Solar Sword responds positively to, its strength being boosted more than a Light energy infusion would normally boost a weapon. With a grin, Randy dashes forward, slashing at the shoulders of the nearest Haniwa golem in front of the group, the leftmost one of this group. He then holds GramSP in his left hand and generates an AirSword in his right, slashing that same golem across the chest. If the AirSword connected, the golem would be blown backwards, breaking open against the golem behind it and possibly taking that golem out too. After all, what was animated clay but a mobile Obstacle? Netto's Custom: 4/8 Netto's Chips: GunDelSol1 (blue gun), GunDelSol2 (red gun; Netto's left hand), GunDelSol3 (yellow gun), Shadow CrossD. Naturally, being little more than animated figures of clay the loss of limbs only posed a momentary hindrance to the Phantom Haniwas, as those damaged continued to attack - swinging at the group with the broken stumps of their arms, or even crawling on their hands to get at the intruders. “Only way to bring them down is to obliterate them completely and not leave any pieces behind that can harm us.” Nine called out over the din of battle before kicking an approaching Haniwa, causing it to stumble into its comrades and pushing them back. "Mixing it up close and personal happens to be more my style anyway," Lavender replied as she slung her MP7A1, deciding to switch to unarmed combat with aeromancy mixed in, a pair of cyclones gathering around her fists - forget about finesse when dealing with enemies of this nature; brute force would have its say! Smash them into little pieces so they can't get back up. Shouting, Lavender launched herself at a nearby Phantom Haniwa that was attacking Kouta, the cyclone around her right fist gaining strength as Lavender threw a big right straight at the animated statue, looking to smash it to little pieces on impact. |

'Odd....the fire stream that I launched should have turned the floor into lava. Must be a unique floor.' Tango thought, somewhat annoyed that he lost his footing on the ceiling so easily. No matter...it was too dark to tell who he was by outline alone. Of course, now he was under seige by the clay soldiers that were preventing him from spraying off another round. Considering that he disliked the Nobody who seemed to not be any help at all, since he appeared to be severely lacking any real power. Heck, even Wazuki's Nobody (who also had a guitar), could blast an entire army to shreds with a single song.....which reminded him to test that 'Suicide Song' sometime when he felt like it. Bobbling and weaving through the legs, he stepped back a few times or took cover behind another clay soldier. Thus, confusing the warriors and making it possible to exchange 'friendly fire', since the clay beings had no regular common sense. Thefefore, each time he felt the tingle of a spear or a sword slashing down at him, Tango took cover behind the legs of another soldier nearby. 'Gotta find a way to outflank them before giving off another Fire Breath.' He though to himself, trying not to get skewered and chopped through. Only Kouta remained standing firm after the blow connected, only grunting for but a moment, it seemed it'd take a lot more to decapitate the herculean Rider. Kouta remained undaunted as he advanced, even with the Haniwa impaled on his Titan Sword...so he could slam it into another Haniwa with relative ease. So far they seemed tough but his own strength was more than enough...he just hoped how easy things were going remained as such. |

Obliterate them entirely? That was unlikely to be easy, and here, in the center of the group and shielded from danger, Star wondered if it would be alright if she didn't even try. She thought for a moment that the others would understand if she couldn't do it, that she was saving her power for whatever was worse that lay ahead. But...come to think of it, how did she know that there was anything worse? What if this was the worst thing that happened, and she was caught not doing anything about it. She weighed her options. She had been fully charged, so to speak, when coming in, and she knew from experience that if she was careful, that would serve her in at least one fight. She would have to spread it out for more. Right now, though, she didn't have a choice, although she wasn't sure exactly what she could do to obliterate them fully. She was barely a fighter of any sort at all, hand-to-hand was just asking too much from her. She did, however, extend her hands, forming two orbs of light which she sent flying at the nearest statue. The orbs were solid, and if they hit dead-on, might be enough to break it. One aimed for the head, another for the torso. Let's hope this works... |

Meglumar growled with a fair deal of irritation. He normally would have gone in, swinging his sword, but...Doing so while others were firing guns, and the like. NOT a smart move. He needed to wait. As soon as Netto finished his little assault, he charged in at the one they were attacking, his sword at the ready and infused with light. He began to hack into it multiple times. Die! Just please DIE! He thought to himself as he hacked at it, with no restraint. Even if the thing went down, he would still continue hacking into it over and over. Lavender DID say these things had to be taken down quickly, and completely. He planned on doing so....by smashing every piece he could. Edited by Captain, Jan 18 2010, 03:28 AM.

OoC: Two things. First, Netto and Randy are firing in OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS. They are NOT attacking the same statue, or even the same set of statues. Second, Randy stopped firing and started slashing when he realized his shots were-- Pokébattles Narrator: It's not very effective... ...yeah, that. So, um...please edit your post with these points in mind. (There ARE soldiers approaching from both the front AND back...) EDIT: Actually, I think that last point should be made clear to everyone. There are soldiers approaching from both the front AND back. Say which ones you're aiming at. Edited by Netto E. Takashi, Jan 18 2010, 03:04 AM.

The Phantom Haniwa soldiers never stood a chance. Despite their small number, the combined effort of the tomb raiders were super effective, and before they knew it, all the Phantom Haniwas now lie in tiny pieces littered all over the ground. Nine, still wielding his dual trumpet guns, aimed and fired at some of the still larger pieces until he was satisfied that the Phantom Haniwas won’t be coming back up soon. “Great work, that was easier than I thought it should have been.” Nine commented, a sort of congratulations to the whole group before turning to Netto’s group as a whole. “And next time, you should do well to do as I say before you bring the whole tomb down on us. I just hope that stupid trick with the Possessors doesn’t alert whatever is running the tomb to our presence. Now, let’s continue…” Nine berated the group calmly before turning to continue walking down the corridor to the next chamber… --- First Guards lost… Hostiles still at large… Engaging secondary defense… Mobilize Second Guards… --- As our tomb raiders continue down the corridor unhindered, they would be able to hear a soft rumbling sound coming from somewhere deep in the tomb but not to worry, nothing came at them at the moment and they are allowed to pass to the next chamber unhindered. Once exiting the formerly guarded corridor, our tomb raiders would find themselves in a large and brightly lit chamber, larger than the previous one they had came across when entering the tomb for the first time. The same glowing blue-lined rocks that made the walls of the previous corridor are also used to built the walls here, which attributes to the lighting. Six massive pillars stood in the center, made of granite instead of the eridian rocks and holding up the roof of the chamber. There are also numerous pots of various shapes, sizes and condition are littered all over the place whether near the wall or placed haphazardly just about anywhere. Ahead of where our tomb raiders would exit, there is a large hole in the ground that seems to have stairs leading down somewhere in the dark. And lastly, there were Phantom Haniwa Archers up in a long, inaccesible balcony above said tunnel, aiming and releasing a total of twenty iron arrows at our tomb raiders once they all exit the corridor. “Take cover!” Nine shouted in warning, quickly rolling and using one of the massive pillars which was near as cover; the pillar itself can hide at least three or four people behind it. “Just as I feared, the whole place knows we are here.” Nine said calmly after a quick study of the situation and the chamber itself. “We’ll have to take out those archers before we can proceed.” As if to heighten the danger even further, several Phantom Haniwa Soldiers armed with swords and spears appeared out of two small rooms on either side of the chamber where they were placed into. Slowly, they made their way to everyone present with gleaming and rust-free weapons, obviously more dangerous than the previous group they encountered in the corridor. The archers on the balcony would also shoot an arrow immediately if any of the tomb raiders escapes the safety of the pillars: looks like they’re in a tight spot. Without much else to say, Nine raises his dual trumpet guns at one of the Phantom Haniwa Soldiers as soon as it appeared around the pillars, punching a lot of sonic rounds into it. “Somebody take out those archers! We’re sitting ducks here!”
