Down at the bottom of the opening, the only source of light from the opening above lit the only area visible to everyone; a large room with smooth, grey stone floor. When the others reach the bottom eventually, they would find Nine looking around into the prevailing darkness around them, trying to make out something. Once everyone gets down, Nine would then turn to them. “There are Heartless nearby, I can hear them.” He said simply without elaborating how he can hear them. “Be careful, the reports I got from my scouts says this place is small in some places and flooded with water too; we don’t want to be boxed in by the Heartless and have our escape route cut off if the need ever arises.” Nine then raised a hand and pointed to a place in the dark behind them. “For now, let’s go into that corridor there. It’s the only path we can take for now. It’ll take us to a large chamber a few meters ahead. Oh and, we’re going to need a bit of light before we go.” For now, everyone should just do as he says. |

Star stuck close to Meglumar the whole time they descended. She wore her usual ready for anything smile on her face, but if Meglumar looked, he would be able to see the way she stepped closer to him as they walked down the steps, or the way that her smile seemed strained, her movements tense, and her eyes slightly worried. The glow that usually hung around her on sunny days faded as they walked out of the light. Being underground, away from any sources of light, meant that Star would have a limit as to how much she could use her powers. It was just like fighting at night, another thing that Star didn't enjoy. If she was cut off from the sun, and she ran out of light, she was screwed. Being underground was worse than being indoors (sunlight from the windows), or being around at night (she had already proven that Sirius could make use of artificial light sources). If Star had any fear at all, it was being underground during a fight...which this would no doubt come to. But since she was Star, she wouldn't show it on her face. She looked up as he explained the situation and asked for some light. "Sorry, can't help you there," she said with a small smile. "If we're gonna be cut off from sunlight, my supply of photomancy's pretty finite. I don't want to use it on anything but Heartless if I have to." |

Lavender descended a while later, following Star and Meglumar, making a controlled descent on a cushion of air, filling the surrounding area with a strong breeze. After hearing what Nine said, Lavender nodded as she raised her MP7A1 - the Arcadian leader had the submachine gun fitted with a tactical flashlight on the side of its barrel, which would certainly prove invaluable in this situation. However, it would take more than just that tiny light for their group. "Sorry, can't help you there," she said with a small smile. "If we're gonna be cut off from sunlight, my supply of photomancy's pretty finite. I don't want to use it on anything but Heartless if I have to." Star chimed in, smiling slightly. Being cut off from her power source certainly put the photomancer at a disadvantage. "I didn't come unprepared however," Lavender spoke as she reached into the pocket of her coat and removed from it a military-issue flashlight. "I've already got my own," she remarked, patting her submachine gun. "So, may one of you here do the honors?" "Star, you don't have to do this if you don't want to," Lavender relayed a message to the blond photomancer over the Arcadian link, in a tone of concern towards her subordinate. "All right, Nine - if that's how you prefer to be addressed now - lead on," Lavender pointed down the corridor with the muzzle of her MP7A1 as she positioned herself next to Nine, releasing the gun's safety to set it to fire on automatic. "Sure feels like the old days, huh?" Lavender commented, wondering if he still remembered their days of undertaking GLADIUS missions together, and in particular, that specific mission at the India-Pakistan border... |

Netto pauses at the edge of the hole as the rest dive in, Randy included. As soon as he's sure "Nine" isn't looking, he pulls out his CrossDimensional Chip and summons forth SpectrumΩ, away from the hole. He also inserts four Battlechips and activates AquaCustom Style, but not DarkLicense. A moment later, he calls out. Netto: Randy! Catch! He tosses a blue gun down the hole to Randy, who catches it. He then leaps down the hole himself, wielding two such guns, red and yellow. Netto: Muzzle flashlight time. Netto fires a solar shot from the red gun into the ground, briefly filling the area with light. Randy raises an eyebrow at Netto, then does the same with his blue gun. They both look around the area during the brief moments of light, attempting to determine if there are any other paths than the one "Nine" is attempting to guide them down. Netto catches a glimpse of Lavender as well. Netto: Ah yes, you were wanting to know who we were? Apologies for my lack of manners. He smirks. Netto: My name's Netto, my pal's name is Randy, and we... He tosses the yellow gun to Randy in order to free up his right hand, in which he generates his Keyblade. Netto: ...may be the ONLY ones who've come prepared. Now Ogihara...you say he "used to" go by that name? I wish to know what other names he's gone by in past. SpectrumΩ, still atop the hole, runs through a mental list of the Organization members' names, as acquired from one of their members. He mutters to himself. Spectrum: Number Nine is...Oxkito. A message discretely pops up on Netto's PET saying as much, but Netto does not check his PET just yet. Netto's Custom: 1/8 Netto's Chips: GunDelSol1 (blue gun), GunDelSol2 (red gun), GunDelSol3 (yellow gun), Shadow Randy's Custom: FULL Randy's Chips: N/A SpectrumΩ's Equipped Programs: AquaCustom Style SpectrumΩ's Current SubTypes: Light/Light (also Aqua from AquaCustom Style) Edited by Netto E. Descending into darkness...that was what this seemed to be. Meglumar had changed into his arcadia uniform quickly enough, hands inside his coat and on his sword. He was ready, and paying attention. From what the nobody was describing, he might actually have an advantage here. If there were parts that were indeed flooded, he could very easily unleash some good attacks. "Sorry, can't help you there," Star said with a small smile. "If we're gonna be cut off from sunlight, my supply of photomancy's pretty finite. I don't want to use it on anything but Heartless if I have to." Ah, that was true. And he remembered how Star was during the last encounter with heartless here. She was also fairly close to him at the moment. He made a note to be twice as cautious. He payed attention as Netto, his partner, and the 'Navi' of his dropped in with weapons. He looked to Lavender. "Miss Lavender, I have run into Netto and Spectrum before, during a mission. Netto has fought against the heartless with Star and myself, and has even expressed wishes to join Arcadia." He said, adding a small backing to Netto. Edited by Captain, Jan 2 2010, 02:44 AM.

The red stag-beetle themed warrior would descend into the depths next, and Kouta has since dispelled his keyblade for the time being. A long weapon would be annoying to use in a closed corridor, and he preferred to fight with his fists anyway. The darkness didn't really bother him much, as his transformation into Kuuga increased his senses enough that he could see well enough. Worse comes to worse, he could shift to Pegasus form, but only for short bursts, else his nervous system paid the price. It was odd that Kouta would be keeping quiet now, however. Anyone who knew him would know he was fairly loudmouthed. Of course, a lot of recent events have made him rethink a lot of things..things that he was still in the middle of mulling over. Regardless, he had a job to do and for the time being, kept his senses alert. |

Hmm....these humans were doing a bang-up job, allowing themselves to be at the mercy of an unknown ruin filled to the brim with traps. Of course, the nekomata virus was walking above the group via electro-magnetic gripping the corridor ceiling. 'Still....is Netto not even listening to this guy? He just said his 'scouts' can talk to him. Since when the heck do common Nobody minions have the ability to speak like a human?' He thought to himself, his cat eyes piercing the darkness like night vision goggles. No matter, obtaining the heart of the world first was his goal. If he could directly interface with it, there might be a bunch of clues pertaining to the Heartless and the Nobodies. Not to mention the chambers that might hold the World Heart must be filled with ancient knowledge dating back hundreds of thousands of years. Question though, is if anyone else besides them knew about the World Heart. There was always a chance some secret society guards the World Heart, labelled by birth to continiously protect the ruins from generation to generation. Like the freemasons, or a religious cult that sacrifices the scum of society to the Heart so that it would continue to protect this world from Heartless. Not to mention they would be no doubt hostile towards intruders and outsiders, even when they are being overrun by Heartless. 'I'll have to be look-out for now...and download whatever ancient symbols I come across for translation to find out what traps lay in wait for these guys.' |

“Can’t be helped I guess,” Nine commented while scratching his chin at Star’s dilemma after his request for some light. “We’ll have to make do with what we can I suppose. Luckily, I brought this with me.” He said as he pulled out a large flashlight out of a dark portal he opened with his hand. Barring the odd flashing thing Netto was doing as he descended to join the rest, once everyone was ready and at the behest of Lavender, Nine turns and led the way down the only corridor so far, which is very dark. Occasionally, one or the others would feels water droplets falling on them, as the ceiling was has minute cracks where water from the surface leaks. Other than that, the corridor had nothing to impede them. "Sure feels like the old days, huh?" Lavender asks Nine as they continue their walk. One of the few things that flashed into his mind was a certain mission back then where he was with a team of GLADIUS operatives into an underground tunnel on a mission, with Lavender at the lead. “Old times indeed.” Nine agreed simply with a straight face under his hood, his tone signifying he wasn’t interested of talking about it. [Sound Cue: People of the Moon's theme (BGM)] Together, they would eventually arrive at the first chamber Nine talked about earlier. Here, he stopped and turns to the others. Also, the walls here were covered in lines emitting pulsing, eerie blue light and bathing the chamber and our explorers in its dim glow. Ahead of them, anyone can make out two giant statues in the image of armored warriors standing guard another corridor between them, its wooden doors now lying in pieces, apparently having been smashed inwards. “I bet you’re all wondering what this place is.” Nine asks suddenly, raising his hands to indicate their surroundings. “This, is a kofun. A tomb in other words, in the shape of a giant keyhole if seen from above. This one has been developed over unaware by the city planners.” He explained. “Whose tomb this is, I cannot say yet, but the person who is buried here is very special. Special enough that it warrants booby traps and obstacles to prevent us from getting to burial chamber where they door to this world’s Heart just happens to be. I must ask all of you to be careful and don't touch anything or we might not get out of this in one piece.” As soon as he was done however, an inky black shadow crept from the doorway in front of them and rises up from the ground with two, yellow beady eyes staring at them. Nine swiftly turns and materializes a brass trumpet gun in his right hand and proceeded to pump a full burst of sonic rounds into it which causes the poor thing to explode violently into black smoke. At the same time, more Shadows appeared, two for everyone at the most in the chamber. “Oh right, there's the Heartless horde too.” Nine added. Doubtless, everyone would have dispatched the Shadows easily and so the group would continue, this time into the corridor under the watchful gaze of the stone sentinels beside them. The corridor would also have walls line with the blue pulsing light. Ahead, a bright white light awaits them… |

Netto and Randy each take out their Shadows with quick shots from the GunDelSols in their hands. Netto's second Shadow is chopped clean in half with Netto's Keyblade. As the group begins to continue onward from this first chamber, Netto notices something. Stone sentinels...perhaps Spectrum could make use of them. Taking a moment to check his PET, Netto receives Spectrum's message as to which Nobody this was. He sends a message back to Spectrum stating that his weapon appeared to be a trumpet, his element appeared to be sound...and there were statues in the corridor that Possessors could likely animate. Spectrum receives these messages in his head, and updates his mental list of Nobodies accordingly. He then places one hand to the ground, summoning a small group of Possessors, and directing them to enter the cavern. The Possessors do so, drifting slowly through the long corridors in an attempt to reach the statues Netto had mentioned. With the glowing light ahead of them, and at least two people carrying flashlights, Netto and Randy do not feel the need to use their own muzzle flashlights. However, as they are walking, a curious thought creeps into Netto's mind. Perhaps even a dangerous thought. Gripping his solar gun tightly, Netto pauses long enough for the solar-powered Star to pass him. He then raises his gun directly to her back. Netto: Sorry if this backfires. He fires a shot of condensed solar energy directly into Star's back, on the hopes that she would absorb it and not be sent flying. This was a whole new world to him, so he honestly had no idea whether the solar energy of the GunDelSol2 was something Star could absorb, or whether the fact it was concentrated into a single shot would make that impossible. Either way, he figured it was best to find out early, rather than have to risk it during an intense battle. A chamber filled with Shadows...it should have been nothing to worry about, as this was the norm, even on other worlds. Kouta just summoned up the light of his heart, imbuing his fists with the mighty power as he began facing the swarms with his usual brand of hand to hand combat. It was pretty easy, having dealt with these things on a number of occasions, dispatching them took minimal effort... Yet, why was he worrying so much? If it was going to be painless, why was he more worried than normal? "Because dealing with darkness is never easy." he muttered to himself as he kicked a Shadow away. Something he knew first hand: never underestimate an enemy, no matter the circumstances. |

"Yes," said Star in reply to Lavender over the Arcadia link. "I do.". She glanced at Meglumar, and maybe if Lavender was looking, she would have understood. Star shifted into her Arcadia uniform as they walked into the tunnel. The other thing she was wearing wasn't exactly suited for going underground, and the Arcadia uniform made her feel better anyway. Or at least, as much better as she would feel when she was going underground in the first place. God...she hated the underground. She listened to what Nine had to say as they walked, nodding once. The words anchored her to something--something other than the fact that she couldn't feel the sun. Even at nighttime, she could feel the sun...or at least, she could feel the residual traces of its energy. But underground, places that the sun never touched, she couldn't feel anything. Words couldn't describe her uneasiness. Star raised her hand after Nine finished explaining that this was a tomb. "Will we be seeing mummies?" she asked with a grin on her face. Nine would never get the chance to answer, because that was when the Heartless chose to make the appearance. Well, they weren't mummies, but they were close enough. The Shadows surrounded her and jumped at once. There was a flash of light, and they shot back as if they were burned...which, in fairness, they were. Star stood there, still smiling as the glow around her receded. She would have to stick to low-key attacks, nothing fancy. Of course, these were Shadows, and thus, were pretty much cannon fodder where she was concerned. "Elemental advantage, FTW~" Star said over the Arcadia connection as she set off another blast of light to dissuade...and burn off, any remaining attacker. The Heartless were quickly dispatched by the others, and she followed Nine forward...deeper into the tomb. She was just starting to calm down...a little...when she felt a sudden blast of light hit her from behind. Star's eyes widened as the light shot into her. It seemed to take a moment to adjust to whatever the light inside her became, but it settled, a glow forming around her for a moment as her body cast off the excess light. The glow lasted all of two seconds, before fading again. She looked around, blinking once at Netto, before grinning. "Thanks!" she said, "Owe you one!" |

Lavender nodded at Meglumar putting in a good word for Netto and Randy. Although with regards to Netto's question Lavender merely replied, "Let us focus first on the task at hand, and afterward I can answer whatever enquiries you may have to your hearts' content." Meanwhile, Star expressed over the Arcadian link her desire to continue on with the operation in spite of being severely limited while underground - Lavender had to admire the photomancer's courage, but wondered if it was a tactically sound decision. But that was Star, being herself. Fortunately for Star, Nine passed to her a flashlight, which would help somewhat, although the photomancer wouldn't be operating anywhere near her peak. Nine didn't speak much as the group ventured down the claustrophobia-inducing tunnels, apparently not too interested in Lavender's attempts to strike up a converation about the old times. Eventually, they found themselves in the chamber the Nobody spoke of earlier. A faint source of illumination came from a network of blue lines that covered the walls, bathing the chamber and those within in its ghostly blue glow. To the far end lay a wooden door - now smashed in - flanked by two statues of armored warriors. It as at this point that Nine spoke to the group once more. “I bet you’re all wondering what this place is.” The Nobody raised his hands. I must ask all of you to be careful or we might not get out of this in one piece.” They would soon find themselves interrupted by an attacking group of Shadows. Only two for each of them, and they were dispatched easily enough - Lavender didn't even need to use her aeromancy or fire a single shot; as the first one lunged for her Lavender ducked under its swiping claw and delivered a roundhouse strike to its temple with the butt of her MP7A1, and the second received an uppercut blow to the chin from the same weapon, flooring the Heartless before being finished by a kick to side of the head. Seeing that the others dealt with the adversaries easily enough, Lavender plodded on, heading further into the tomb just a few paces behind Nine. |

Ah fiddlesticks, heartless. Just what he needed. He unsheathed his sword, finding this kind of environment to be best for swordplay. Or, at the least, better than his alternative of using water magic in such an area. The blade lit up with light and began to hack into the swarms of shadows, before noticing something very odd. He just now realized that someone on their side was summoning heartless! He looked at Spectrum in between slashes and saw him bring forth some of the smaller heartless, which SEEMED to be aiding them. "Hertless....summoned? Allies?" He muttered, before getting a claw to the face. "Gah! Retu Somkal!" He yelled out in his native tongue before slashing into them again. |

The Middleman (stubborn, yet relaxed)
|
'How annoying....they can even cling to the ceiling.' Tango thought, staring into the lifeless eyes of the Shadows that looked right back at him. Of course, he could tell that they weren't interested in him, since he had no heart to give. Such a pain....and he still had to get revenge on the Netbattlers for trying to delete him. With a quick gulp, he spat a small barrage of electricified hairballs (which luckily were concealed in the darkness) to assault the Heartless Shadows head-on. At the same time, he consumed and drained the inky mist that the disposed-of Heartless gave off below him, refilling the energy tanks for the time being. Still, it didn't taste all that fresh when he chewed and downed the darkness, these Shadows must be rookies, not even slightly capable of getting a heart. Easy distractions at best.....which meant the full force was either close than he believed, or they sent only the top elite to secure their position and blockade the group until the boss moved in to steal the World Heart. |

So far so good, they were now halfway through the Haniwa statues lined corridor and nothing sprung up to attack them after the Shadows which were dispatched with ease earlier. But it didn’t stop Nine from worrying where the next obstacle would appear to stop them. He was genuinely fearful for the loss of this world after all so it was expected that he would have to focus his mind on the task at hand. What he didn’t expect was someone trying something stupid despite his warnings earlier. Meglumar pretty much caught his attention at first about someone or something summoning Heartless, and saw the two Possessors float towards the two human-shaped Haniwa statues up ahead. “Wait no-!” Nine shouted a warning too late. Foreign elements detected… Interference attempt confirmed… Sanctuary compromised… Begin purging hostile lifeforms… The Possessors would be able to possess the Haniwa statues easily, but as soon as they entered it, they were quickly expelled by an unknown force, and the statues would step off their pedestals and turn to our tomb raiders… …along with all the other statues along the corridor. As one, the silent Phantom Haniwa Soldiers pull out their iron swords and charges towards our tomb raiders. In this narrow corridor, boxed in from the front and the back, our heroes are trapped! [Sound Cue: Tsuiseki (BGM)] Nine muttered a curse at the situation and the person responsible for this, before raising his trumpet gun and fires a burst at the group of Phantom Haniwa Soldiers at the front, sending some of them reeling backwards but not actually stopping them in their tracks. Cursing again, he switches his trumpet gun from burst fire to single, and this time fired several powerful and louder shots, cracking the head of one Phantom Haniwa in the process but not exactly stopping it yet still. “Watch out, these things won’t go down easily.” Nine warned calmly.
