Hyakuji 2.0 Template Character Name: Jennifer Alexis Chase (Just call me "Jen") Gender: A girl! Age: 15 Height: 162 cm Weight: You wanted to know? How could you!? Description or Image of Character Appearance: ![]() (Please ignore the ears and tail... I was cosplaying at that time.) Jennifer (or "Jen", as she prefers her friends to address her by) isn't a very physically imposing person, standing at a modest 5 feet 4 inches (or around 162 cm for those more familiar with metric units) and sporting an average build. Her slender frame has the tone and definition of someone who enjoy engaging in regular exercise, although she doesn't appear very athletic at the first glance. While physically she doesn't stand out, it is the way that Jen expresses herself through her choice of attire that distinguishes her in a crowd. A natural brunette with hair that reaches past her shoulders, Jen has taken to dying her locks into a shade of lavender half a year ago. One noticeable thing about herself is that her eyes are naturally reddish-purple, possibly a side-effect of her Meta-human genes. As far as her personal wardrobe is concerned, Jen prefers clothing that is simple and practical to fit her active lifestyle - she typically prefers T-shirts and jeans over a blouse and a skirt or a dress, the latter typically reserved for going out to parties or if the dress code of an establishment (I.e. school) mandates it. A dynamic person who likes constant changes, Jen never keeps her hair the same way for longer than a day - she may let it billow out one day, tie it into a ponytail the next, braid it up on yet another day, or decorate it with brightly-colored pins on yet another day. Similarly, she is seldom seen in the same pose for long, frequently fidgeting about, such as resting her weight on her left leg one moment, and shifting to the right shortly after; or one minute she may be standing with her arms akimbo, the next they'd be folded across her chest.Occupation: Highschooler Grade Level: 9 (1st year) Alignment: Neutral (Light or Darkness? Neither of it really makes any sense to Jennifer - as far as she's concerned, light is merely photons that are detectable to the human eye, and darkness is merely the absence of light. What good and evil is there to speak of? That doesn't mean Jen is amoral, however - she'd do whatever is within her ability to help others, but just don't expect her to side with something she just can't make sense of, like associating Dark and Light with morality.) Powers/ Abilities: Power of Analysis - Jennifer possesses a phenomenal ability to absorb and retain knowledge faster than the average human, being capable of speed-reading entire books and retaining the information within at incredible rates. (Can read and memorize approximately 20 pages or 30,000 words - whichever is greater within 5 minutes - or approximately two posts) The limitations to this ability is her physical capacity and her resources; for instance, she can read through a book on Karate and gain knowledge on all of its stances and delivery techniques for punches, kicks and grapples, but whether she possesses the physical capacity to throw a punch hard enough to hurt her opponent is a different story altogether. Likewise, she may be able to study and memorize the schematics of a F-22 Raptor by examining its blueprints, but unless she gains access to a proper industrial facility, constructing the thing would prove darned impossible. But like anyone who is human, Jennifer is not without flaws, and typically after the first speed-read her mind tends to retain only 30% of the information gathered after 24 hours have elapsed. It typically requires multiple readings over a 72 hour period for her mind to retain the information gathered via speed-reading for any extended amount of time. Again, this is dependent on the degree of complexity - simple things like learning a new language, knitting, repairing household appliances or cooking recipes typically can be instantly memorized after the first read, while higher-level knowledge like computer hacking, piloting and schematics of complex machines (I.e. helicopters, planes, tanks, etc.) often requires her to read through multiple times in order to memorize them at length. Shatter Point Detection - A combat-based manifestation of her Fast Learner ability. By memorizing schematics and anatomy, Jennifer is able to identify weak points in her opponent, be they flesh or machine so long as she has had knowledge of said target's internal workings, and is therefore able to exploit said weaknesses, (think along the lines of The Inhumans' Karnak of Marvel Comics fame) striking her targets at where it would most likely cause them to break. Again, this ability is dependent on her resources and physical capacity and her resources - having the physical prowess of a normal human being one can only go so far even if you know an opponent's weak spot; as some targets prove to be simply too resilient to damage using normal human strength without the use of weapons or special powers. It takes 1 post for this ability to warm up, and once engaged it requires a cooldown period of 3 posts. The Tinkerer - Aka. the MacGyver power; the result of months of reading the complete collection of Ragnar Benson's works, special forces (i.e. SAS, Navy Seals, US Marines, Spetsnaz, etc.) field knowledge handbooks and other esoteric knowledge (and not to mention a fair bit of inspiration from the show that bears the ability's namesake), Jennifer has become something of a Ms. MacGyver when it comes to improvising, modifying and jury-rigging stuff to create weapons, explosives, traps and other nasty gizmos using the most mundane of items. Given the proper tools and materials to work with, the right information on her hands, and sufficient time to prepare, Jen can come up with a wide range of improvised weaponry, explosive devices and traps to confound enemies; needless to say, a typical DIY store would be something of a heaven for her, filled with pretty much all the things she would need to conceivably create a sufficient-sized arsenal to equip a small-sized army of ragtag survivalists. Equipment You Have: Schoolbag with usual books and stationery, wallet with money, AHS student ID card, various business cards and a photograph of herself and her friends in front of the Esplanade taken in 2008, portable first-aid kit, portable toolkit, Swiss army knife, Sony PSP, Dell Inspiron Mini 12 subnotebook, LED flashlight, butane lighter. Personality Description: ![]() If one were to sum Jennifer up with one word, that word would most likely be genki, or energy. Lively and mercurial, Jennifer can be best thought of as a gerbil on a caffeine rush. Always in action, always thinking, Jen dreads the thought of having to sit or stand idle for any extended period of time - anytime one finds her during her waking hours, she is likely to be doing any of the following; grooving to her favorite songs on her MP3 player, reading, (although she carries lots of books - to be covered later in her powers) engaging in a sport, or playing games on her PSP. While extremely open when it comes to expressing her thoughts and feelings, Jen isn't exactly an outgoing person, being more inclined to keep herself occupied with various activities rather than to hang out with others; although when asked out by her friends, she would say yes more often than not. Curious and adventurous at heart, Jennifer embodies the spirit of Carpe Diem, or "seize the day" - being one who is constantly looking for new experiences to try out, new horizons to discover and new problems to overcome. Her constant badgering of others with good-natured advice and sharing of knowledge and experiences can make her somewhat hard to get along with, although for those who do manage to get along with her, she is a loyal friend like no other. Quick to anger but also quick to smile, Jennifer seldom holds any lasting grudge - although she tends to take offenses against her friends more seriously than those against herself. All in all, Jennifer is dependable person to befriend - being unpretentious and open towards others, and ready to help when it's within her capability. Personal History: Jennifer was born on 15th of February 1994, to the couple Alex Chase, a marketing and sales representative for the US branch of Frostfire Industries - a British-based multinational business conglomerate with holdings in several major industries including, but not limited to: aerospace, defense contractors, pharmaceuticals and information technology - and Susan Yan, a Singaporean-born Chinese actress. Jennifer's mother was at the time nine months' pregnant when on a trans-Pacific flight from Singapore to Los Angeles, California. And as Jen's parents would tell her, she was delivered in mid-flight by a doctor who happened to be one of the passengers on board, before mother and child were rushed to hospital upon the plane's landing. Jen was subsequently raised in Los Angeles as a citizen of the United States of America. The first thing her parents had noticed since her birth was here unusual eye color, but they had not suspected that their daughter was a Meta-human until she was a month old, when Jennifer began speaking fluent English - by the time she was three, Jen was able to converse in no less than ten different languages - English, Chinese, French, German, Spanish, just to name some of them - and displayed the reasoning ability of a child three times her age. For the most part her childhood was still fairly normal - growing up the way most kids do, going to school, playing with the neighborhood kids and such. Both of Jen's parents are often busy with work, which consequently gave her plenty of room to explore life's unlimited choices and to make her own decisions, fostering in her an independent spirit. In school, Jennifer has had her fair share of popularity and notoriety - the former mostly from classmates who found her to be one of the best people to approach when they needed help with their assignments, and the latter would be the teachers, who would often find Jen daydreaming in class or skipping school entirely, yet strangely aces the class in every test and examination, and sometimes, to their embarrassment, correcting a teacher's mistakes when said teacher is giving a lesson. Shortly after Jennifer's 15th birthday, her father was promoted by the company to a directorial post, and was subsequently transferred to the Asia-Pacific, an area that Frostfire Industries has been expanding its influence into; despite its prominence in Europe and North America, the Asia-Pacific was a largely unexplored domain for the corporation. Jen's father was deployed to Frostfire Industries' newly-opened branch in Japan, and in doing so Jennifer also moved with her father to the land of the rising sun. In order to better understand her nature as a Meta-human and master the use of her abilities as well as continue her education, Jennifer enrolled in AHS, with the school fees being paid by her father as a new chapter in her life opens... One fine day in Domino Town, Jen was surprised to find a crowd gathering around a crater in the middle of the town square - it was no crater, however; the sides were too smooth to have been caused by an explosion, and at the bottom of the bowl-shaped depression was a sphere of darkness, not unlike a black hole, that no light seemed to escape from. Curious, Jen also moved forward to explore. Unfortunately, she moved a little too close to the edge of the crater and lost her footing, falling right into what appeared to be a portal, taking her into an unfamiliar realm and far away from home... Mashed Potatoes? So how did Jen end up becoming a dimensional traveler? The proof, they say, is in the pudding... Edited by Lawman, Nov 23 2009, 11:00 AM.
