Dishes. No kidding, Taiga was doing dishes in the BOARD Ace Café, having apparently been excluded from any actual Rider activities. Which was understandable, considering she kicked Leo in the shin for suggesting that she join up with the other new members and do field missions. Which... was how she ended up here. Were this still Niwa, she would have told him he could go shove it if he told her to do something menial after she'd hit him. However, here at BOARD... he was the president, and she had nowhere else to go. To make matters worse, Ryuuji agreed with his methods, and so refused to take over her body--one of the few times she wanted him to--so she could 'learn something from the experience'. Just thinking about it made her nearly snap the plate she was holding in half... except that if she broke it, she had a terrible feeling it'd find its way back to Leo somehow. The sooner she was done with this crap, the sooner she could change out of the maid outfit and go do something useful with her life. Like, for instance... exploring this world. Something she hadn't done since showing up, since most of her time was either spent figuring out BOARD HQ or inspecting the dimension rift in the Sands of Space and Time. However, there was one thing that made doing dishes somewhat bearable. She wasn't alone. Also working the kitchen was a girl who was about her height, but considering the girl's bubbly nature... she didn't want to think about how old that girl actually was. It'd probably just make her angry at her own diminuitive size... ...in more ways than one. Damn it, Ryuuji... You're supposed to like these things, aren't you!? I can't do this any longer! No response. She knew he could hear her--he always could--but he wasn't going to answer. Looks like she was alone with that other girl and the dishes. "So, your name is... Ka...zuna... was it? Aren't you a Rider? Why are you here?" she asked, deciding that trying to talk to the girl was more productive than trying to convince Ryuuji to cheat for her. At least then she'd have something to distract her from the pile of plates and utensils given to her. |

In a strange turn of events, rather than the normal uniform Kazuna would wear when working at the cafe she would instead end up in a maid one similar to Taiga's, on the grounds that they should match. Suffice to say, the rest of the BOARD staff could not refuse the request, not because of her rank...but due to her earnest nature. It was...just hard to just say no to the small girl, more so when she worked so happily in the getup upon actually receiving it. In any case, there she was, working alongside Taiga in the kitchen, cheerfully washing the dishes with the utmost care, just humming a simple tune as she kept a relatively normal pace, only stopping when the other girl called for her attention. "W-well, we're understaffed so when we aren't doing field work, most of the Riders get assigned other jobs around BOARD." she answered rather quickly. Her English was...certainly decent, though it was obvious in her tone that she was nervous speaking in it. "Of course, I also enjoy working in the café, it's one way to make people smile with the work we do~" she finished before continuing her work, the nervousness only lasting a moment. |

It wasn't the Japanese tint in Kazuna's voice that Taiga didn't care for. Unlike Kouta, Kazuna's English was actually intelligible. No, it was the... bubbly in the other girl that made Taiga sick to her stomach, and not the champagne kind. Kazuna, even while doing menial tasks, was more than happy to do so, following some sort of belief that making people smile would come of it. Rubbish. Not that Taiga was going to tell her that directly. Because while Kazuna's happy-go-lucky nature was similar to Kouta, she had one thing the male lacked: innocence. It was like an invisible force field surrounding her which prevented any ill-will from intruding. So instead of telling her that making worthless people smile was stupid, Taiga said this: "I-I see. So, do you have anyone you like here, then? Someone you want to... make smile?" If someone asked Taiga, she'd say 'Yukari' without a pause. That girl walking into a room immediately doused it with light and happiness, like a sort of reverse of the strange power Kazuna had. Rather than prevent ill-will from approaching her, Yukari seemed to emit good intentions. Still... it was just idle chat while she finished up with the dishes. Thanks to Kazuna's help, there wouldn't be much more. Then she could just work the café floor instead, where walking around and carrying food would be more than enough of a distraction. |

"...do I have to be specific?" Kazuna asked at first, stopping her task once more, and putting on a serious look, debating her answer properly. Of course, even her serious looks were just full of her childishness, as she racked her brain over the answer, thinking really hard, even going as far as to make a few light taps against her head, as if to jog the process a little. Her answer would come soon enough though, just turning to face Taiga. Kazuna would make one, final tap on her head and poke her tongue out "Ahehe...I can't decide." she stated honestly. "I honestly like everyone here, and just want everyone to smile...it's so gloomy in this town so I have to try my best~!" Edited by Yosuke, Nov 12 2009, 08:19 AM.

"HOW OLD--" Taiga began to yell out of reflex, dropping her plate into the sink. When she turned and saw Kazuna smiling so... earnestly, though, she couldn't bring herself to finish the sentence. At least, not in the tone she'd originally intended. I... want to hit her! I want to knock the stupid out of her, but...I can't! Mmm... a sign that you can make friends when you want to. That's great, Taiga! came Ryuuji's sudden response, giving Taiga a sour look on her face again. Leave me alone! If you aren't going to help, then shut up! Considering his lack of a response, she figured he was doing as he was told and sighed, starting on the next plate rather aggressively. Now she was right back to square one, angry. Especially at the fact that out of the two people she wanted to communicate with using her fists, one was in another dimension and the other was too damn charming to strike. She couldn't win! |

"I just turned fifteen~!" Kazuna answered, the fact that Taiga was clearly annoyed with her attitude just...flew over the blue haired girl's head as she returned to doing the dishes. It was a wonder how she even remained this innocent, considering who she shared a room with...but that's what made Kazuna, Kazuna. "It's good to finally have someone working here my age though, it's kind of scary being the youngest member here..." she quipped, blisfully unaware of Taiga's real age. |

"I just turned fifteen~!" said Kazuna without missing a beat, causing Taiga to shriek in shock and whirl about to stare at the other girl. "It's good to finally have someone working here my age though, it's kind of scary being the youngest member here..." the girl continued, apparently completely oblivious to the fact that Taiga was older than she was. Not for long. Taiga laughed nervously and took the last plate from her stack, washing it uneasily to try to get her mind off of the realization that she now only compared to a 15-year-old girl. "Hahaha... I'm... eighteen..." Fifteen!? Seventeen, maybe I'd be able to accept... but... fifteen!? She's not even old enough... she can't even... she's just...! ARGH! CRACK. The plate in her hands split right in half down the middle. "..." Taiga just put the pieces of the plate into the sink and curled into a ball on the floor, pulling her knees up to her face and trying not to cry. It was the worst day ever, and the day had only just begun. Edited by Ayane Isuzu, Nov 13 2009, 05:33 AM.

Taiga...was not the only one depressed at that news. When Kazuna heard that Taiga was actually eighteen...and shorter than she was, the blue haired girl could only look down at her own, barely developed body. If the person standing (well, now in fetal position) before her was three years older and was smaller than she was...what chance did she have at growing up...? "Ahaha...I...I see..." Kazuna responded with her own nervous laugh...that was soon soon followed by her curling up as well, trying not to cry herself. Oh boy. |

Before the mood in the kitchen would deteriorate to a level that would be nigh unrecoverable for the two girls self-esteem, along came someone that may help them in a way… or not. “Excuse me, can I borrow the kitchen?” It was Hajime, and if the two girls would turn to the counter, they would see the young man just about setting a basket full of… vegetables of several kinds: cabbages, carrots, horse radishes, radishes and potatoes. There are even several unfamiliar small sized chilies among the vegetables. Hajime himself looks as if he had just come from a garden somewhere, with dirt smears on his gardening apron and parts of his clothes and even his face. To complete the image, he was smiling, obviously at the small harvest he brought with him. |

"Excuse me, can I borrow the kitchen?" Taiga glanced up over her knees towards the direction of the voice, seeing Hajime standing there with his normal happy-go-lucky face on, apparently not really bothering to pay attention to the heavily depressed atmosphere developing between Kazuna and Taiga. He seemed way more interested in his assortment of fresh veggies than the two tykes. After some thought about how rude Hajime was to intrude on them like that, Taiga came up with an idea; standing, she grabbed the sheared plate from the sink and handed it to him. "Here. Take this and you can use the kitchen. I'm going to go out on the floor anyway." Leaving the plate for him to deal with, she untied the apron from its spot around the front of her maid dress, tossing it onto the counter and wandering out into the café to look for customers who hadn't been waited on yet. That way she could leave the annoying and the depressing behind, even if it meant talking to people. |

"Hi-ho~ My little plu-chan~" Yukari greeted as she walked in. Except, something seemed wrong. Her little plu-chan seemed down as she emerged from the kitchen. What could possibly be getting her down? Well, her lunch could wait for awhile clearly, she had to attend to her little palmtop taiga. "Plu-chan, what's wrong?" she asked as she approached, sounding quite concerned over the state of her favourite cafe employee. |

Kazuna remained silent as Taiga left, and stood back up to finish off the last bit of work with the dishes. But...she couldn't stop thinking of the despair caused by the recent revelation of Taiga's age, as such she decided to talk to Hajime in the mean time. "Hajime-kun, where'd you get all those vegetables?" she asked simply enough as she slowly continued her task. Maybe his cheerfulness would rub off on her if she talked to him, who knew. |

While Hajime isn’t normally quick to catch on the unpredictable thing called ‘mood’, Hajime was somewhat smart enough to notice something was wrong when Taiga stood up from her fetal position and gave him a broken plate to deal with before going out to the café proper. Doesn’t mean he was smart enough to say the right thing though. “Oh, Taiga-senpai has a little problem?” Hajime asked innocently to palmtop tiger’s back, just as someone approaches her, to which makes Hajime shrug and bring his focus back on his harvest. "Hajime-kun, where'd you get all those vegetables?" the girl he remembered vaguely known as Kazuna, one of BOARD’s ACE-class Riders despite her age and looks. Besides Kouta and Taiga, Hajime rarely or has yet to meet the other BOARD Riders whether personally or on the field, for an obvious reason. “Oh these,” Hajime started, pointing to the vegetables. “I planted them, upstairs on the 17th floor where no one is using it. These are some of the quick growing ones so I harvested them fast to try them out here.” He replied nonchalantly, as if using an office space to run a vegetable garden was normal. |

"Oh, Taiga-senpai has a little problem?" Hajime quipped as Taiga walked past him, causing the petite fireball to freeze up immediately. Surely, he didn't mean it the way he said it... but the way she heard it was as an insult. A huge insult. So probably the only thing keeping him uninjured was the sound of Taiga's favorite person strolling into the café. "Hi-ho~ My little plu-chan~" Yukari's voice called out, softening Taiga's rage into a much more docile depression. Were Hajime a little more aloof, he'd probably even find offense in the fact that she was insulted by his innocent comment yet completely ignored Yukari saying the same exact thing. Giving a sour look back towards the veggie-grower, she ran into Yukari's waiting arms and sniffled a bit. She wasn't crying... hard. "Plu-chan, what's wrong?" "Yukari... you don't think I'm a kid, right? You know I'm mature, right?" |

"Huh? Why would you be a kid?" Yukari asked, genuinely confused "Maybe they're weird or something?" Of course, Yukari, while usually unusually observant for someone possessing her level of derpiness, was also completely oblivious to the fact |
