Her arrival wasn't particularly dramatic. Injured personnel came in all the time afterall. Still unconscious when they'd arrived, Miyuki was quickly processed and diagnosed, and then checked into a hospital room. The damage wasn't as bad as initially thought. The bones were fractured to be sure, but amazingly had not quite broken. The majority of the apparent damage was more caused by an unprotected nervous system suddenly receiving the sensory boost the from the power of the Sealed 8 of Diamonds - Scope, overloading the CNS and causing a pronounced drop in capability after the initial rush. Now, all she had to do was wait to naturally recover. The bones would be treated through some other means, but they'd have to wait for her nerves to recover from the experience. For Miyuki, it wasn't really a new experience. She'd gone through mostly the same thing as a mage, now the only difference was the source of the overloads. The problem of course was she was... bored. Due to security concern, BOARD's medical ward was deep within the building, and as such had no windows. While this made things more secure, it also meant there was no view of the outside. She wasn't the sort who'd really ever cared for television, and she'd been told the Chief now had Kazuna filling in her work instead to make sure she had plenty of rest. For her, the only good news was that she was now at the stage where her legs were numb, rather than facing the pain from muscular damage that she'd have to deal with once her CNS had renormalised itself, but that would be comparatively fast to heal compared to bone. |

"Why did I even bother doing this?" Kouta mused to himself with a sigh, just...standing at the doorway to the room Miyuki was assigned to. It's not like he had any ties with the woman, she just babysat him due to work. And even then, she had an apparent distaste for him anyway, if anything, him showing up would be the last thing she wanted. And then he thought back to why Miyuki was there in the first place. If it wasn't for him wanting to go to the meeting, she probably wouldn't have done this to herself. "...well, I guess it is my fault, so may as well at least check on her...right?" he continued just talking to himself. Was he guilty? A little, but shook that thought off and looked at his now bandaged hands, which were slightly burnt due to something he was carrying: lunch. He had...actually gotten up early to try and make something, and due to being out of practice and made a few mistakes, and had gone through a couple of tries too but... "Meh, she'd probably scold me for doing this too." he said with a sigh before knocking on the door. It was now or never, really. |

"It's open." she unconsciously responded, in English. As the most common language among BOARD's employees, her speech ended up defaulting to it over the past few months, although her accent was mildly English rather than the American-sort that most of the employees had. She didn't really know who was at the door in anycase. |

After a deep breath, Kouta opened the door, now wearing the usual smile he always had as he entered the room. "It's me~!" he stated simply enough, before holding up the things he brought over: a plastic bowl of sorts and a thermos. "I figured hospital food sucks so I brought some lunch." he explained. It wasn't anything really fancy, just Gyuudon and miso soup. If all went well, he could just drop it off and leave without another word... |

"At least one of us is happy given the circumstances." she observed dryly, rolling her eyes at his cheerful entrance. "If that's all then you can drop it off and leave." |

A response he was expecting, but he just shrugged it off. "I'd rather be be bright and cheerful over cold and annoyed all the time." he quipped simply enough, placing the food on a table nearby, before rummaging his jacket pocket for...a can of strawberry milk, which he set next to the rest of the stuff. "Kazu-chan said you liked the stuff so I figured I'd bring some as well." |

"Kazuna says alot of things. You two would get along, you're both unreliable." she told him in a fairly bored, deadpan voice, not really paying attention to him or what he was doing. She was bored yes, but not bored enough to really want him and the cheerful stupidity that grated on her around. |

"Well then I'll just take this for myself at least, thirsty anyhow." Kouta responded, unfazed by the woman's insults. He'd heard it all by now over the span of his entire life, he was used to it. Regardless he ended up picking up the can, popping it open and began drinking, unceremoniously, just taking a seat in one of the chairs. "Your usual hate for me aside, how are you feeling?" |

She raised an eyebrow at that statement. "What makes you think I hate you?" she had to ask She didn't particularly like him and found his cheerfulness to be quite grating to be sure, but rarely did she actually ever dislike anything enough to actually hate it. She wasn't really the sort to express real 'hatred' as people would know it afterall. |

"I dunno, all I do is bring you trouble, everything I say and do is wrong, my attitude pisses you off..." Kouta mused with a shrug, before taking another sip of the strawberry milk. "I could keep going but that'd probably devolve into another lecture, ne?" he finished with a bitter laugh. He...really did not hold back when he talked about himself especially. "I'm honestly quite surprised you put up with me this long." |

"It's true that I'm not fond of you, but I have no reason to hate you. If you bring trouble, my job is simply to deal with it." she shrugged, her interesting waning, the voice went back to the cold, somewhat dry voice. Lacking anything else to do, she'd ended up starting on the meal Kouta had brought. She was somewhat hungry despite already having had food. The problem wasn't in the meals in the medical ward not being 'filling enough' as much as her body went through alot of energy incredibly quickly. The sort that she had to eat enough for several people to just barely provide enough calories to burn through a day without losing weight. One could imagine if you will, that she simply had a food-powered fusion reactor onboard to meet her daily energy needs. "It's not really my place to tell you what attitude you should approach living with anyway." she added as she ate quietly "All I can do is tell you what you should know and learn. The rest is up to you, whether it works out for better or worse, you're the one who suffers or gains. I only step in when it's someone else who suffers because of that." And by the time the lecture was over, the bowl was already empty, and already resting on the desk. Edited by Katyusha, Oct 17 2009, 07:15 AM.

"I'll make sure I'm the only one who suffers for my actions then, otherwise you'll be stepping in all the time." Kouta answered soon enough, by now the cheerful air around him had long vanished for the time being. Again, it was something he was just used to by now and largely shrugged it off, before quirking an eyebrow at the now finished bowl of food. "...How do you do that, honestly? Eh...whatever, surprised you were even willing to try it since it was something I made." |

"Food is food. As long as it's made properly and won't kill you, it's bad to waste it" She wasn't really paying attention to Kouta. By now all she was doing was relaxing herself and mentally complaining that her body healed too slowly. If only she could be like a convenient video game character where healing was simply a matter of hitpoints and you didn't have to worry about such things as being maimed in such a way that recovery would be difficult if not impossible. "In anycase, suppose that's why you didn't visit the nurse's office like I told you to after your training." she wondered idly. Edited by Katyusha, Oct 17 2009, 07:46 AM.

"Pretty much. I figured I'd be going there often, so I felt like being nice and making sure they won't see my face everyday." came Kouta's rather honest response. "Besides it didn't hurt that much and I still had work to do so I just patched myself up and took a short nap." he continued, shrugging again. Of course, when he meant "work" he didn't just mean with BOARD, he had already taken a few extra odd jobs around town, he...just disliked using the company card and as such made cash for himself. |

"Thats what they're there for." she admonished him without changing her voicetone "If I didn't hold back, I could have caused more serious injuries. Even if you're 'feeling okay', you should also make sure you're fit for duty. If you break down while in the field, that could be the death of yourself, or worse, someone around you." She didn't really look irritated, but it seemed obvious all the same. Such a cavalier attitude might have worked before, but there would be no such nonsensical risktaking if it could be helped here, especially not when the stakes were so high. |
