Hajime Go got 40, half of which I believe is from how I shamelessly partly base him based on me. The other half was probably because despite being amnesiac, he's still very good with housework and gardening which should count as special skills.

Tatsumi Ryugami on the other hand, got a score of 15. Not bad for a chain smoking, transforming, average magus, freelance reporter/photographer.

hmm, Katerine got 19... Yey for the Happy-Go-Lucky Marine who is basically almost an antithesis of what a Marine should be!!!

Ayane (current Hyakuji version), despite being based on an existing character upon her creation, scored a 31. Hells yeah for original plotlines!

I'll get to testing my other characters later, this is pretty fun. :D

Popped the Character / RP Cherry
Ow ow ow ow... Unusual eyes? Check, she has MINT EYES. Tri-power rapage check, we hit up shapeshifting, flight, thereby wings, and run away... Aw hell, not to mention fighting. >___<

Norah Kennedy scored a 36. Ouch.

I'd hate to see what April Kay gets... She's my long running I've-had-her-since-age-11 character that now stars in my RPG. ;O;' It's going to hurt.

Okay, well, not as bad as I figured. I figured it'd be in the 80s.

April Kay scored a 64. Given her past and the universe, I'm... okay with that score. Mostly because I know she's a bit "epic", but...Meh. Whatev'. I've had her since I was 11 for chrissakes.

You are aware that Mary Sue is all about artist self-insertion and self-wish fulfillment, right? Not being based on existing characters. While self-insertion and wish fulfillment can push stuff like basis from existing characters (I want to be cool and X is cool ergo I make my character to be like X so I will be cool too, to give a horridly made simple concept) they are not one and the same.

I think the 222 score on AITW Hiro pretty well relates the point as a model. He wasn't based on any existing character yet: HE WAS AN AWESOME PILOT. HE HAD A TRAGIC PAST. HIS PARENTS DIED. ALL WOMEN WANTED HIM. HE GOT LAID LEFT AND RIGHT. HE RARELY LOST. HE WAS IMMORTAL SO HE'D NEVER DIE AND GO AWAY. OH YEAH HE WAS A TRAINED ASSASSIN AND THE BEST AT THAT TOO. HE WAS CHARISMATIC. HE WAS A GOOD LEADER. HE WAS A NEWTYPE AND HENCE SPECIAL-ER THAN OTHERS. EVERYONE LIKED HIM; EVEN THOSE AGAINST THEM IN THE WAR. Etc. and so forth~

Just tossing this out there, in general for all, cause some in the chatango this morning seemed to be mixing up what a Mary Sue is and some (not you Nomake) seemed to think Mary Sue's were some horrid thing that was like being branded with the scarlet letter.

So now you know, and knowing is half the battle~

Also, I wanna see someone legit beat Tyrann's score of 2 lol

Nope. And that's where I stopped reading. I was made aware of this earlier in the chat, when a conversation between you and I about what defines a "cookie-cutter character" was brought up again. The term "mary-sue" was used during that conversation, so I had linked the two terms. I was mistaken, and for that I retract my statement.

This test now makes more sense, but at the same time, greatly disappoints me.

From what I see of the test.
Mary Sue = Awesome and cool characters like ancient legendary epic heroes.
None Mary Sue = Everyday average normal char, or even a loser in life.
Basically, to Anti- Mary Sue people, the more unluckily, insignificant, lowly, weak and miserable a char is, the more "depth" or "well-developed, balanced" the character is. :P
Personally, most of my Fav fictions characters are all highly Mary Sue, and all of the characters which I can't even be bothered to remember, are very non Mary Sue. :D
Long live Mary Sues. :D
