The falling sensation abruptly stopped, and when Chizu opened her eyes she was standing, perfectly whole, mind you, in front of a rock. She blinked once, then twice, and glanced around her. The people she had noticed before were there as well, along with Nickle. When had he gotten here? And more importantly, what happened to that whole "falling to her death" thing? An illusion? God, I hate illusionists, she thought, thinking about Kaito and how he had done the reverse and nearly fooled her into falling off a building like an idiot. Yeah, illusions were never really her thing, she usually fell for them. It's a good thing you didn't panic, said Aether in the back of her mind. Yeah, a good--WAIT! You KNEW?!? ...More or less... Aether's voice sounded almost sheepish in answer. And you didn't tell me?!? ...Well, the point of the exercise was that you thought you were falling to your death. Hmph... said Chizu, turning to listen to Master Yun. Crazy old man. The last comment was directed at Aether, although she had a feeling it could relate to the other man standing in front of them asking them if they wanted tea. "I'll take a cup," she said, and accepted a cup from the woman that passed it to her. Chizu blew on it and took a sip, her eyes narrowed as she listened to Yun. ...Relying too much on the wind? Heh...that was ironic, considering a couple of years ago she didn't have any wind to rely on. Still, it made sense. The wind was the first thig she had reached for this time around. She frowned. She would need to work on that area, but what did he mean she wasn't relying on her own will and spirit? Chizu's argumentative nature rose to the forefront. She had bound that wind in place by means of her own will and spirit! She would have argued had Aether not reminded her that her sister would have hit her over the head for the comment that she was about to say. Sufficiently chastized, she kept her mouth shut and accepted a bowl and spoon from the girl that was handing it out. She walked over to the pot and slowly scooped some of the stew into the bowl, careful not to burn herself. From behind her, she heard Nickle ask Master Yun what he was going to teach them. "I second that question," she said, looking up. "What exactly are we here to learn...besides, you know, the obvious." |

Pulling his dark stetson hat off his head as he began to brush his shirt off as he noticed that the man called Yun-sensei was speaking to him as well as the others. Furrowing his eyebrows at the man's words, he placed the hat back on his head. "Well, thank you...sensei?" He said after a pause, somewhat unsure of what to call the man. "Uh, but, I'm not part of the martial arts club." He continued as he took some of the tea and began to partake of it as well. He still didn't know why he was still here, but he figured since he'd been put through so much already, they least that he could do was stay for a sip of tea. It wasn't like he had anywhere else to go on this mountain, besides off another cliff. Smirking at his awful sense of humor, Dare took another sip of the tea. It was some of the best stuff he'd had in awhile. |

Yun 'looked' at Kouta with his inquisitive eyelids, which still remained shut. The smile and his cheerful attitude seemed to vanish for a moment. "We will meet again before this is all over, warrior-san. Do your best in the meantime." Yun bowed deeplyas Kouta left, then turned to Miyuki as she walked away to her trashed bike, a tiny dark cloud above her head. "Good-bye, Miyuki-chaaaan~" He pulled out a white fan with a red dot in the middle and waved it in the air emotively. "Good luck... come agaaain~" Suddenly he turned to face everyone again, this time his face was serious and ceremonial. "I am glad to meet you all young warriors. Even if you were not previously members of the Martial Arts Club it doesn't matter. Those who are willing to undergo the training I have prepared for you are welcome to stay." He nodded as he drank some more sake, listening to what they all asked. "Well... I must apologize for the abruptness of the experiment you were all put through, but it wouldn't have worked had I warned you about it before it started. As for your assumption, no... it was no illusion." Yun raised and extended his hand towards the man sitting on his left, who bowed lightly as he did so. "This is Ukio-san. He is a talented psychic and is responsible for what you all saw and experienced earlier. His abilities play an important role during advanced training for members of the Black Lotus, a group of martial artists I train on a regular basis." Then he turned to the man on his right, who remained still. "And this is Goro-san. He brought over the large rocks next to you and he will be your spar buddy for the duration of the training session." Yun smiled devishly as he said so, and even though the Goro's lang hair covered the majority of his face, those who looked really hard might have noticed the tiny grin formed in the man's lips. "And last but not least, I will tell you what you will learn. Nothing can be learned overnight, everything we do requires practice, hard work and perseverance, but overtime... after lots of training, you might be able to develop your senses enough so that you will know what is real and what isn't; you might learn to develop your mind so that it won't be fooled so easily; you might learn how to discover your true inner power and maybe... just MAYBE, be able to kick some ass." Yun smiled, took another sip, then smiled again. "Any more questions before we begin?" Yun smiled a lot. |

Nickle had been eating his stew and drinking his tea as he listened to Yun explain about the club and introduce them to Ukio and Goro. He had to admit he was impressed that a psychic was also a martial artist. From what Nickle knew of that little clique is that they tended to spend most of their time focussing on their mental abilities rather than their physical prowess. However, for this man to do what he did, it really was impressive. When Yun inquired about whethet either of them had any more questions, Nickle smiled, feeling a bit more at ease after the food and his regular disposition returning. "Just one, for Goro-san. How did you move the rocks?" Nickle was interested if he was a terramancer or just a man with sheer physical prowess. If he wasn't the latter, then it would put Nickle a little more at ease about training with Yun, if not, he'd have to really focus even more. |

Chizu wasn't sure if knowing it wasn't an illusion made her feel better or worse. On one hand, it made her feel good that she wasn't that mentally weak that she could completely believe she was falling to her death. On the other hand, it made her just a little nervous that these people had enough power to do that...and that she really was falling to her death. Instead of sorting through that tangle of emotions, Chizu decided to work on eating her stew instead. So...it wasn't an illusion? she asked Aether. No, it wasn't replied the wind spirit. ...Then why'd you tell me it was? asked Chizu, finishing off the bowl of stew and setting it and her spoon aside. I never said it was an illusion, specifically, replied Aether. I simply said it was controlled. Ugh...I hate you sometimes, thought Chizu as she looked towards the two people--Ukio-san and Goro-san. She hardly ever used honorifics, but she decided that politeness was probably best in this case. After all, those people could kill her in a second. That certainly gave them her respect. The corners of her lips turned up in a grin at Master Yun's words, especially the last sentence. That's more like it. "No questions, sir," she said, wondering if they were going to begin now. |

Look at his little dance

Mon was a simple man with simple thoughts. As such his mind was now entirely trying to figure out what inner power was, as opposed to outer power. He was fairly certain that what he had was outer power so that was strength. But inner power he wasn't really sure. The opposite of strength was probably intelligence, but they didn't seem like mages. Well, there was the psychic, which he assumed was like a mage but more fighter-esque. Mon stood up as he finished his stew. He wasn't being disrespectful. Well he might have been but it wasn't on purpose. He stepped to the nearest boulder and stared at it. He wondered if he could lift it. He could destroy it. But that was something like his specialty. He lowered himself and slid his hands around the base of the rock. He would probably need to get proper leverage to lift it... His footing shifted and he lifted with his whole body. |

Ada looked at them in bewilderment, why after such an exercise would you want to leave from the training, if anything it made her hungry for more learning like a starved dog. Listening to him speak, she sat there shocked at the situation going on, that it was as a real as possible was rather shocking and that Master Yun was not controlling it but rather his students were made her imagine what Yun-sensei's abilities would be. Each one of his followers would be part of the whole to maintain an important part of each part of the exercise. What was most important in her mind from seeing these followers, was because she knew she was going to excel past them and she will do it in a dress and high heels, because that's how she was and she believed she could. Even if it took years, she needed to surpass others. Master Yun told them anything was possible, the limitations of one's own eyes are what people believe to be the limitations of the world, it was clearly proven to her...she must use it to her advantage. "My question, Master, how one would go about the Black Lotus?" Ada asked Yun-sensei with much respect as a Teacher should be given, it was a powerful tool to learn and she needed to learn a lot to be powerful, to be perfect... |

Dare put the cup of tea down, and stood up straight as he fixed the dark stetson hat atop his head. Training to grow even more powerful? That he didn't really care for, but some part of him still enjoyed the thought of becoming stronger. Perhaps it was one of the fundamentals behind his design, always wanting to stay a step ahead of others, always developing in new ways. Still undecided about what he should do, Dare looked over to the master and frowned. Perhaps he'd just wait and see what they'd do next before he made any real decision. It wasn't like he had anywere else to go at the moment. |

"Ahhh! That's a very good question, Ada-san!" Yun spoke quite cheerfully as Mon got up and tried lifting the massive rock with all his might. The rock merely shifted around in its place a little as he pulled up, and even though he was able to raise it a few inches, he would see that a big part of its lower half was dug into the ground, perhaps by its sheer weight... perhaps by the force it had been stuck there with. "You see, those belonging to the Black Lotus must undergo a special initiation ceremony and take an oath, which they must maintain for the rest of their lives. You will all be assessed during your training to see if you qualify, but said assessment won't be based on skill, but rather on character. Whoever wants to join can come to me at the end of this training session, but I can't promise anything." Meanwhile, Goro-san simply stretched out his right arm and placed it on the side of one of the rocks near him without even getting up... and grabbed it, then lifted the thing right out of the ground like it was as heavy as a beach ball. "And now the real training session will begin. I'm sure some of you know about the existence of what some call 'ki', 'chi', the terribly misused term 'chakra', 'prana', etc; it is the vital energy which exists in all living things. Martial artists often spend a lifetime trying to develop such energy so they can enhance their combat skills; some very few are able to develop it in less than decade, even fewer get to actually gather enough of it to be used in combat, and from those merely a handful ever develop such power to an extraordinary level. Some of you already possess the potential do develop such power even if you don't yet know it. Apart from the use of ki, there is of course many other aspects which must be cultivated in order to attain your true power, such as optimal physical performance, mental and emotional clarity, willpower and of course... a superb technique. You will be taught in all of these aspects during our training sessions." Yun raised from his sitting position and the men took the food and eating utensils away. "So now that the proper introduction has been made it is time for the training to begin! You have already proven you can let go of your judgmental minds and preconceived ideas somewhat, so the part of the training that deals with the mind is done for today. Next, both your physical prowess, instinct and fighting techniques will be both put to test and developed at the same time." The grand master pointed to the forest behind the cave, which continued further up the mountain. "There is an entire tribe of wild Chimera coming this way. Chimera are hybrids, the result of a strange mix of human and animal. Most of them are quite civilized but many wild ones remain and this place is in the border of several tribes' territories. Both the stew and the tea had in them a particular herb which possess a very special scent which is extremely easy for their acute sense of smell to follow, and your body has already started to smell the same way since you ingested it. In short, they are going to hunt you all down and there is no way you can hide from them." He paused for a moment as he put his hand behind his ear as if to listen. something unnecessary for someone who could sense all people within a mile radius, but they didn't know that. "Oh yes, they're almost here! Anyways... you need to make your way down the mountain before the Chimera catch and eat- I mean... hurt you. You will find a deep chasm a couple of miles before you reach the bottom of the mountain. the bottom of the chasm is filled with mist, so you won't be able to see it. Your mission is to jump in it once you find it. Those who manage to escape the Chimera and do as I say will be safe... you'll have to take my word for it. Those will also be the ones to pass this session and move to the next. Oh and I almost forgot... you must not use your powers at any moment during this exercise, nor can you kill or cripple any of the creatures should you have the chance to fight them." Yun spread the large paper fan with the Japanese flag on it. "Now..." Suddenly the man brought the fan down as a bunch of hairy, humanoid creatures with animal heads came out of the woods. "...GO!" Nickle listened intently as Yun explained about the Black Lotus and the training that came with it. Even if he didn't qualify to be a member now, he couldn't hide the fact that he was truely interested. He himself, had never developed any true ki techniques, although, one thing had been made very apparant to him. He was in touch with his ki, even if he couldn't utilize it. In the past, when Nickle had fought Eiji at the tournament, he had transformed into his Storm King form and attacked him. Nickle had always been under the impression that his entire being was simply lightning until that match. However, Eiji's attacks damaged him all the same. Due to a single ball of concentrated ki being within the storm king. Nickle's essence. Nickle just wondered if he'd be able to develop that further. However, as Master Yun's speech wound down and he spoke of Chimera's, Nickle facepalmed. "Good lord. I swear once you've taught me how to kick ass, I'm gonna try to put it to use." said Nickle with a bit of a smirk, hinting towards Yun playfully. He had to admit, although there was a distaste for the man, even though they'd just met, Nickle's competitive spirits were burning now. He enjoyed a challenge and he wasn't about to let some chimera eat him. Mental note, develop a sense of caution around Yun-sama. thought Nickle before turning around and beginning to move as fast as he could down the mountain. "Come on guys, less you wanna be chimera-chow!" said Nickle, his smile hiding the slightly nervous disposition beneath his skin. |

Chizu swallowed at Master Yun's explanation, although she placed her hands in the pockets of her jeans and tried to appear nonchalant. She was succeeding too. Chizu had always been good at hiding her feelings, she was just selective about which feelings needed to stay hidden. Happiness? That was cool. Anger? That was cool too. Excitement? Hell yeah. But sadness? Anxiety? Fear?!? Those were things better kept inside. I'll see you at the bottom, said Aether. ...What?!? asked Chizu. Technically, I'm a power, he said, Unless you think you can't do this without me. Hmph...I'll see you at the bottom, old man, she replied. Nervousness wasn't quite fear, but it came pretty close. Beneath the calm exterior, Chizu's muscles tensed, her whole body wound up like a spring that was ready to go at any moment. Chizu relied heavily on speed and reflex, and right now, all she waited for was the signal before she took off. Hairy humanoid creatures rushing out of the forest and coming straight towards them? Definitely a signal. Chizu spun around with all the suddenness of a cracking whip and raced down the mountainside, not even slowing down to pick her way. Aeromancy had bred any anxiety she had about heights out of her and Chizu had been in training of one form or another for nine years, mostly physical. While she might not be as strong as some of the people here power wise, and while her fighting style was mostly unrefined, she was still in peak physical condition, and had been relying on her speed and her reaction time way before aeromancy had even crossed her mind. As it was, she was holding back, keeping herself to the pace she had always set before joining Hyakuji and finding out that her speed was actually her first power. The lovely side-effect of that was that, since she could easily go much faster than this, she wasn't going to get tired anytime soon. Chizu jumped past Nickle with a grin, landing on a ledge that jutted out from the mountain side about two feet below them. She turned her head around to glance at him. "If you can keep up!" she said, her grin turning into a slightly cocky smirk. |

Mon had lifted the rock... That made him the winner. He dropped it back to the ground and tried to turn before he realized his feet had been pushed into the ground. "Damn..." As he pulled his legs out her saw Goro lift one of the boulders with one hand... Mon didn't even know how to compare to that. Well, he did. He lost. He listened as Yun explained that he needed something that wasn't being at his physical peak and having a lot of willpower. He was glad to hear that he could somewhat get over his preconcieved notions. He didn't concieve many but he was pretty sure about the ones he did. He'd have to get over those. The stew was going to make monsters chase and eat- I mean hurt them... That was just great. That's what he got for trusting people. He always tried to be trusting but this guy was being very cruel to them wasn't he. Mon dusted his legs off. He'd just have to run. He was pretty good at that. It was down the mountain too so it probably wouldn't be so bad. He couldn't use his powers so... That just meant he couldn't use his fire punch, right? Maybe not his rock smashing either. It probably wouldn't have helped that much anyways. He crouched down and launched himself forward. He was fastI wonder if I could convince them they don't want to eat me... I convinced bears not to eat me... Well, that was one bear at a time. If there was one of these things then I could probably manage. He'd also done it entirely by wrestling the Bears to the ground. He probably couldn't beat all of them to the ground. Mon dashed along, keeping up with Nickle for the moment. He wasn't really sure if he could run fast enough but he would find out soon enough he supposed. |

To get in the Black Lotus, one must have their mentality which is certainly logical right? She nodded it was true, she wondered if they would accept her, so blindly, but she would work for it if she had to, she needed to develop herself further to be able to hold Lilith's true power. Lilith spoke too highly of herself, but as a Demon Empress with even Biblical reference, she most certainly would have a lot of power but it was her body which was the one that was holding both of them back. Seeing Goro-san lift that boulder so simply, it just made her want to beat him. Envy, it is what makes another person ambitious and makes them better themselves. Without envy there wouldn't be improvements to things, it's natural. Of course Lilith was not impressed, she could do that in her sleep, even do it Ada's body if she wanted to. That was nothing. As he spoke of using Ki, it seemed she was many steps ahead of them in that she could manifest her Ki, focus it and project towards another as a beam or blast. But an extraordinary level was not yet reached. She wanted to cultivate all of her aspects which would allow her to grow, as he stated. Paying attention intently when he finished off saying that they're instincts, physical prowess and fighting skills would be developed and tested at once...here came a new annoyance...When her eyes widened...So they were tricked once more, this old man would be a hoot she thought, even to the extent that his serious training would then lead to some innuendos alla Master Roshi. She could make do with her Martial Arts, ki wasn't needed to be able to do Martial Arts, hell she could do some amazing ass acrobatics so why wouldn't she be able to escape...If they were to get near, she would need to let them go alive...Now it got a little harder... As the group began to quick dash not as fast as she could but good enough for now. Reaching Nickle and Mon she then jumped next to Chizu, "I mean, you two wouldn't wanna lose to girls would you?" Ada asked playfully with a grin of her. She wondered if they would all team up? At that point she wondered if this was Yun's intention as well, to see their morals?...But there was a time and a place for this, and this moment wasn't it... |

Cross-dresser Extraordinaire!
|
Nami wasn’t sure what had called her to come to this place, but sure enough she stood there; Tomo disguise in place, at the foot of a mountain. She looked up the side of it and sighed. “Theres only one way to go from here.” She said walking up to the cliff side reaching up till she found a sturdy rock to step on and began her climb to the top. Soon enough she reached the top of the small cliff side and hoisted herself up landing on the grass of the mountain. She picked herself up and dusted off her jeans she looked around making sure it was safe before continuing towards the top. As she continued forward she cursed silently at her male disguise, binding one’s chest did not make for easy breathing, and her black cap made her head feel hot, but still she continued forward till she reached the top. Nami…or rather Tomo looked around to see that she was not alone. There were eight others than her, one of them appearing to be the man who called her. He proceeded to greet everyone then wait….WHAT? Before she could react Nami had been stung by dozens of needles, which somehow seemed to zap her of all her strength. If that wasn’t bad enough now there was boulders, normally dodging wouldn’t be much of a hassle with her martial arts background but right now it felt like she was the weight of an elephant. Using a rolling technique she was able to avoid a direct hit from the large rocks and avoided being crushed only to have the whole cliff crumble beneath her. Falling tree and rocks added to the sheer drop made for one terrifying ‘oh sh!t I’m going to die’ moment but after the initial shock Namida quickly pulled her mind together and shifted her body so that she landed on one of the larger falling rocks. Sensei Yun had said “Your enemy is the limitation set by your own logical minds which stop you from believing anything's possible!” so maybe the answer was to stop thinking logically? She decided that having no better plan she should try it so she dropped to her knees and bowed so low that her forhead was pressing against the rock. ‘you will stop falling, you will instead float upwards, and you will steer clear of falling debrie’ she told the rock her eyes shut tight; she didn’t ant to see her death if this failed to work. She wasn;t sure if it worked or not, when she opened her eyes they were no longer falling and the mountain was in one piece again… what the hell? The old man introduced himself as he burned himself with his tea, Nami couldn’t help but feel that this man was rather ridiculous. She accepted the tea offer, (god knows she needed it) but refused the stew as her stomach probably couldn’t handle it at that moment. For a little while things seemed to calm down, Nami listened as the others talked, mainly about the Black Lotus, a group of warriors Nami assumed the men clothed in black belonged to. Then the conversation took and interesting turn as their ‘sensei’ began to explain ki, and demonstrated by lifting a rather large boulder. Nami was very interested in this indeed. Before she could speak up into the conversation Sensei decided to pin some more bad news on them. He pointed into the forest, explained what a chimera was, and then informed them that basically because of the tea he gave them, the chimeras wanted to eat them. Lovely. Even more lovely a large group of them came out of the woods at that moment, though Nami didn’t get a good look at them, for she had bounded up so fast that by the time she noticed she had reacted she was already running rather quickly in the direction opposite of the chimeras. In spite of it all Nami had to laugh, this whole thing was utterly ridiculous, like some really weird anime.

As they ran down the initial slope they could all hear loud grunts and noises behind them. Those who took a peek over their shoulders would see the following: A dozen humanoid beasts, hairy from tip to toe and with animal, wolf-like heads and claws were chasing after them at alarming speed. Many had spears and rustic weapons, but some used their claws to push themselves forward, grabbing onto trees or even the ground itself to increase their speed. Even though the kids were quite fast, their beastly pursuers were gaining ground quickly. A few yards ahead there was a loud creaking noise and suddenly a few trees fell to the sides to give way to what looked like a mythical giant, walking towards them. It was a rare type of chimera, one seldom seen in Shambala: A Rhinoceros chimera. The thing growled loudly and menacingly as it began to charge forward... straight at them. With every step the ground shook a little, and whatever trees or rocks unfortunate enough to be in its way was shredded to pieces as the gigantic, roughly 12' tall chimera charged through, piercing with its giant horn whatever came in contact with it. The guys still had a few seconds to act and think of something to do, but it was clear they couldn't simply run away and avoid everything, for it was still a long way down the mountain.
