Hyakuji 2.0 Template Character Name: Alexander Atreides Gender: Male Age: 17 Height: 6’1” Weight: 182 lbs Description or Image of Character Appearance: Toned and muscled, it’s pretty obvious that Alex trains his body hard. Well groomed, his hair is a light blond and, though most often kept in a ponytail, runs slightly past his shoulders when loose, with a few strands of hair usually in front of the right side of his face. His eyes are an icy blue, and are usually his defining facial feature… to the ladies, at least. His expression and stance is always cool and composed, testimony to his calm demeanor. For his everyday attire, Alex’s common color schemes usually include one or a combination of the following: white, black, red, or grey. No matter what color he may be wearing at the time, it is guaranteed to be neatly kept, giving him the appearance of a handsome aristocrat. His training/fighting attire consists of an all black, sleeveless karate Gi uniform, with a black obi around his waist and black headband on his forehead. He also wears black fingerless gloves, and black sneakers. No matter what he’s wearing, Alex can always be seen with a small, cylindrical object hanging from the right side of his belt strap. This cylinder is actually his custom-made retractable training bo staff, and is always kept at his side, though very rarely seen in action. Occupation: Student, wandering martial artist Grade Level: Junior Personality Description: Alex is somewhat reserved, though he is by no means introverted. He tends to listen more than he speaks, and is always willing to help those in need. He is a fairly intelligent young man, always doing rather well as far as classes are concerned, though he prioritizes training over studying. First and foremost, however, is the welfare of his friends and loved ones. He will do anything to protect them, sacrificing life, limb and reputation for those he cares about. A humble protector of the weak, Alex cannot tolerate bullies, or any authoritative figure that chooses to abuse his or her power. He also doesn’t like intellectual vanity. Always valuing wisdom over intelligence, he respects someone willing to be humble over someone gloating over their accomplishments, even if they are impressive. Due to his chivalric nature, he also abhors mistreatment—be it physical, mental, or emotional—of women (he abhors mistreatment in general, but of women especially). He would never lay a hand against a female unless it was absolutely necessary to protect someone in dire need. Overall, Alex could be described as a “Prince Charming” of sorts, flawed only perhaps by his unwillingness to talk about his past with anyone, no matter how close. And his unwillingness to explain why it is that he continues to wander from place to place, with no apparent destination in mind… Likes: Martial arts (obviously), learning, helping others, music, culture, philosophy, the stars Dislikes: Bullies, seafood, politics, non-competitive violence (violence for violence's sake) Powers/Abilities: Alex actually has no extraordinary powers, per se, but rather he is an unusually quick learner. Through intense dedicated training, he has become an extraordinarily prodigious martial artist, surpassing the degree of black belt in several styles…a feat usually reserved for those that have spent decades in training. A specialist in unarmed combat, he is also an expert at bojutsu, having trained under numerous masters since he was young. However, unless the situation calls for it, he prefers to fight unarmed. Though he knows of their existence, Alex was never taught how to harness such energies as chakra or ki. Instead, he has honed his physical body enough through hard work to make up for it. If anything can be considered extraordinary about him, it’s his physical prowess. He’s trained himself to become incredibly fast and agile, and though it wouldn’t be described as superhuman, is relatively strong. In the end, however, he focuses much more on technique to win a fight than anything else. He tends to start a fight defensively, choosing to observe his opponent’s strengths, weaknesses and attack patterns, before going on the offensive. His opinion is that the warrior with great technique, no matter the strength or lack thereof, always triumphs over the warrior that rushes ahead. As stated, Alex knows and practices several forms of martial arts, including his own personal style. Of the official and familiar arts, he focuses mostly on internal defensive styles such as Aikido, Baguazhang and Jujitsu, but can mix in aspects of external martial arts styles such as Changquan, Shotokan Karate, and Shaolin Kung Fu if the case calls for it. The mentality of complete flexibility, often associated with Jeet Kune Do, is something Alex chooses to live by. Despite training under numerous martial arts teachers, Alex is unaffiliated with any particular group. He follows neither the way of the samurai nor the shinobi, choosing instead to follow an individualized code of a solitary warrior. A vagabond, through and through. Special Techniques: Meridian Blockage: A technique often associated with Buddhist monks. Alex has learned that by striking certain nerves on the body, the flow of chi through one’s system can be temporarily disrupted. Utilizing this technique in battle may have a debilitating effect on opponents not versed in the usage of chi. Alex may choose to strike 1 nerve each round. Should he succeed in striking at least 4 different points, the target is paralyzed for 3 rounds. If the target is an experienced chi-user, however, the effect instead results in the target’s chi potency being reduced by half for 3 rounds, though they can still move about freely. A successful strike of 8 points is necessary to paralyze such an opponent. This technique is only effective against human targets whose flesh is vulnerable to blunt damage. Targets with sufficient protection (i.e. body armor, or non-human opponents) are unaffected. Concussive Blow: A common martial arts technique, Alex sends a swift strike of the hand against the occipital ridge, resulting in an instant knockout. Cannot be used against other PCs without the user’s permission. Only works against those of a lower skill/power level than the user. (This attack is basically just a low-level enemy fodder killer. Judo chop!! =D) Flaws/Weaknesses: Because he was never taught how to harness chakra or any type of supernatural energy, Alex’s main weakness is his vulnerability toward those that can use them. Despite the fact that he is a hard one to match in hand to hand combat, he is still human, and thus remains at a distinct disadvantage against foes that know how to utilize their otherworldly abilities correctly. He has tried to learn several ways to compensate for this obvious disadvantage, though he still has a lot left to learn in order to overcome his natural weakness. Due to his altruistic nature, Alex is willing to endanger his own life to help others, a behavior that can easily be taken advantage of. Equipment You Have: In addition to all the standards (books, cell phone, money, etc.), Alex carries a telescopic bo staff on his belt, which he uses for training. Residency Request: Dorm: Yoshima Schedule: Homeroom: Lillian 1st: Supernatural Studies 2nd: Martial Arts LUNCH 3rd: Music Personal History: Alex is completely reluctant when it comes to discussing the subject of his past. An orphan for as long as he could remember, Alex grew up raising himself. Though his history is for the most part unknown, it is common knowledge that he had traveled on his own for most of his life, wandering from school to school, city to city, country to country, continent to continent, all the while placing himself under the tutelage of various martial arts instructors, if only briefly. Despite never staying under the guidance of one master for very long, Alex seems to be able to retain skills learnt without forgetting a thing. Many believe it is contributed to the constant practice that he undergoes, never allowing himself the chance to forget any techniques he had learned, but rather constantly improving upon them. His exact reason for learning all of these forms of fighting, as well as the reason as to why he refuses to remain in any particular location for extended periods of time, is unknown to any but himself. For an orphan, Alex is well educated and eloquent, a testament to how seriously he takes his schooling in addition to his training. Having been very well traveled, he’s fluent in a number of different languages, including Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and English. He enjoys artistic endeavors, though he focuses more on appreciating the works of others rather than creating anything of his own. He enjoys reading both poetry and prose, as well as listening to classical music. He is an impressive student, no matter which educational setting he finds himself immersed in. Just as with his martial arts, however, Alex has never stayed at any particular school for too long. Taking this ‘wandering warrior’ attitude into account, it remains to be seen just how long he plans on staying at Hyakuji High... RP Sample: (Taken from a bio from one of my other characters from another RPG) FWOOPFWOOPFWOOPFWOOPFWOOPFWOOP Taehyun’s eyes shot open, dark orbs darting toward the piles of sheets and towels laying across the room. Crude but effective, for a makeshift bed. But the target of the boy’s eyes was not the bed itself, but rather the empty indentation that signified the absence of its user. “Shiro? Shiro where are…” “Shh! Keep it down!” A firm but cautious whisper penetrated the still darkness. Kohaku’s gaze shifted toward the voice’s source, resting upon the hunched figure of a young boy no older than himself, crouched beneath the sole window of the tiny room. The boy turned his gaze from the glass toward Kohaku. For the first time since they were introduced to the ‘game’ that changed their lives, a look of sheer terror replaced the usual display of arrogant confidence upon Shiro’s face. FWOOPFWOOPFWOOPFWOOPFWOOPFWOOP “They’ve found us…” Kohaku let his gaze drop momentarily, his hands tightening into fists as the truth hit him. “Yeah? No shit, Sherlocke.” Shiro pounded a fist of his own against the wall behind him. “I didn’t notice the sound of the FREAKIN’ CHOPPER right outside the damn window!” A series of shallow breaths gave further voice to the boy’s frustration. Kohaku lifted his gaze until it once more found the disgruntled form of his surrogate brother. A slight smirk would form near the edge of his lips. At least he’s still maintained his sarcastic wit. Things aren’t too bad… yet. Shiro returned his smirk with anger. “What’s so funny?! Unless you’ve figured out a plan to get us out of this shithole, I don’t think this is the right time to be grinning like a freakin’ moron! In case you‘ve conveniently forgotten, we’ve got the entire damn army hoppin’ right up our front lawn!” FWOOPFWOOPFWOOPFWOOPFWOOPFWOOP “Hmph…” With little more than a sigh, Kohaku rose to his feet, kicking aside the remnants of his own improvised sleeping quarters. By some divine foresight, he was already dressed from earlier that night, so preparations were minimal. He was ready to move out, as was Shiro, by the looks of things. “Well, no use waiting for them to come to us. Let’s go.” Kohaku made his way toward the door, Shiro’s eyes following in disbelief. “And what do you expect us to do? Click our heels together and hope to high heaven that we wake up from this God-forsaken nightmare? Sorry, bro, but it’s a little too damn late for that!” Kohaku ignored his friend’s outburst. If they were to make it out of this mess alive, they needed to keep their heads. His hand firmly on the doorknob, a quick twist and pull would force the door open. FWOOPFWOOPFWOOPFWOOPFWOOPFWOOP Kohaku was instantly taken aback as he shielded his eyes from the blinding beam of the helicopter’s searchlights. “Son of a…!” POP-POP! POP-POP! Four smoking holes instantly dug themselves into the frame of the door beside Kohaku. Squinting his eyes against the unbearable light, the young boy could make out the shapes of several figures approaching from the direction of the chopper, each one armed and ready as they fired toward their targets. “Dammit, run!” Kohaku yelled as he dashed away from the miniature fort’s doorway, eager to escape from within the soldiers’ targeting reticles. The two teens made a hasty retreat from their hideout, the unwelcoming cacophony of burst fire following right behind them. Dodging trees and undergrowth as they sprinted through the forest, the brothers ran for their very lives, the steady rhythm of twirling helicopter blades and dozens of marching boots never very far behind. Two teenage boys against a trained platoon of hardened soldiers. Things did not look good. “We need to think of something, fast!” Kohaku yelled as they continued to dart between shrubs and rocks. “Yeah, well… That’s your strong suit, Einstein!” He heard his brother respond. “After all, I never woulda thought of the BRILLIANT idea to leave our weapons behind and run out of the only shelter we’ve got, right into a bunch of brutes with sub-machineguns and a God damn APACHE HELICOPTER!” Kohaku could do nothing but shake his head as his legs continued to run. “Look… We’ll get out of this yet. Trust me…” Overhead, the terrible beam of the chopper’s searchlights penetrated through the leafy canopy, approaching its prey with swift efficiency… FWOOPFWOOPFWOOPFWOOPFWOOPFWOOP BEEP. BEEP. BEEP. BEEEEEEEEEP. A lazy hand came crashing down upon the countertop. After a few seconds’ pause, sluggish fingers scampered to find the source of the irritating wail, knocking over an empty coffee cup and a small stack of papers in the process. BEEP. BEEP. BEEEEEEEEEEEP. “Alright, alright, I’M UP!” The muffled shout emitting from beneath dual layers of bed sheet expressed a fair share of annoyance. The searching digits of a boy’s hands stumbled upon a hard plastic object. Using the sense of touch to identify a small protrusion, frustrated fingers pressed down upon the Snooze button. Moments later, the haggard form of a handsome young boy would rise up from underneath the covers, lethargic brown eyes moving toward the now toppled alarm clock. After rubbing the sleep from his eyes, Taehyun gave an obviously aggravated sigh, turning his legs to the side edge of his bed before steadily rising to his feet. Taking a moment to collect himself, the young boy shook the bitter memories from his head and grabbed the draping form of his uniform from its position upon a nearby chair. He then made his way toward his bedroom door. Hmph… Time to see if this school’s really what it’s cracked up to be… Mashed Potatoes?
