Mission 0: Prologue The multiverse...a collection of worlds that are all independent, separate stories. But now...the stories are combining and eventually, the worlds will be destroyed. But...what is the cause of it? Why, after such a long existence is the balance disappearing? ...And so, our story begins... Location: A construction site in Tokyo, Japan; 22 Years ago CLANG! "...Huh? That's weird." a worker muses, his shovel having hit something strange while digging up the the site. Curious, the man put his tool aside and got on his knees, using his hands to move the dirt aside...unearthing what seemed to be a strange, small tablet of sorts. "Uhm...Boss?" the man called out to the foreman, who was surveying another area of the site at the time being. "What is it Yotsuga, this better be important!" the gruff man roared back as he lumbered over, stopping just a bit behind the other man who was now holding his discovery in his hands. "....get rid of it." "But sir! This could be very imp-" the man protested only to be interrupted by the boss waving his hand. "We've already had enough delays with this, we don't need no science team stopping us from working here, get rid of it." he ordered again, before quickly turning around and seemingly scolding another group of workers. A sigh escaped Yotsuga as he moved to throw away the strange artifact...but what if he took it to get it properly examined...? Location: Hyakuji High School; Present Day Time: 5:00 PM Hyakuji High School, just your average ordinary school really. Though, there was something that set it apart from every other...the fact it catered to two, distinct sections. One being the "regulars" or your normal students and the other being the "gifted" or those who were born with amazing feats and powers that are out of this world. But the tales of these amazing people are for another time and another place. The school day had ended and the students were filing out of their classes, either heading out with friends, going off to club activities or just heading straight home after the dull day of mandatory learning. Save two particular students who were asked to head to the principle's office, and at current were just waiting outside, sitting in their seats awaiting the inevitable. The first of which was a tall, built teen with dark blue, unruly hair. He wore his uniform improperly, the jacket was just over his shoulders and his polo shirt underneath was unbuttoned, revealing a red shirt underneath and his tie was completely absent. The other was a smaller boy with spiky black hair, who didn't look much different from any other student, and the type to be least expected to be sent here for trouble. Though it was kind of obvious what kind of trouble they were in, both were covered in bruises (most of which were tended to and bandaged properly). In other words, they were involved in a fight...but that wasn't on the mind of the taller boy. "So...how'd you do it?" "Eh?" "You know what I'm talking about, Kazuki. How did you, Mr. "I write stories about robots only I can see", score with Mitsuki Sanada, the most popular girl in this section!? TEACH ME YOUR WAYS!" the boy exclaimed, jumping out of his seat and now bowing on all fours. "E-Eh!? I didn't do anything! She just said she was interested in my stories and wanted to hear more about them, that's all!" Kazuki replied, blushing a bit. This kid was exaggerating, and his outburst resulted in stares from other staff members and students alike. "Ah...so chick's dig someone who can write...bah, that's too much trouble for me." the other boy said as he stood up, sighing as he returned to his seat. "Well, guess I'm back to square one..." "S-sorry..." Kazuki spoke up quietly, before quickly changing the subject. "Uhm...thanks for saving from those guys...uh...?" "Kouta Azuma...the Principle will see you now." came the voice of the secretary. "You heard the lady, name's Kouta. And I was just doing what came natural...I hate it when people prey on the weak like that." he said, giving Kazuki a big grin...a grin that faded as he walked into the office. The last words heard from him were "I'm gonna be late for work..." "Mom is not going to be happy when she hears about this..." Kazuki muttered to himself as he left the office after getting scolded for fighting on campus, in addition to his recent outburst in class today. You see, while Kazuki is in the "regular" section of the school, he occasionally has visions of "another world", a world much like his own...only that giant robot battles take place in it. He writes down what he sees and uploads them onto his personal website, and as such he is often referred to as an Otaku because of it and is shunned by his peers. These visions often involve the school being blown up (by the robots in "that world, not the students) or something similar and he'd react to them...coming out unharmed. He'd see the damage, even standing in midair but only he would see it. "Ah! You're done!" a voice called out. It was a teenage girl with long, brown hair. Mitsuki Sanada, the girl who had asked for Kazuki to drop bye her house after school so she could here more about Kazuki's "stories". "A-ah...S-Sanada-sempai! D-did you wait long?" Kazuki asked as he walked up to the other girl, who was apparently waiting for him at the school gates. "No, I had to drop by the faculty office earlier and I just got here now, actually...what's with those injuries?" the girl asked shortly after explaining her situation. She showed mild concern as when she last spoke with him, he was fine. "It's...a long story...so which way to your house, Sanada-sempai?" Kazuki asked, mildly blushing. He...wasn't really sure how to act around her. Doubly so since she was one of the most popular girls in school. "You don't need to be so formal....follow me!" Mitsuki cheerfully responded, suddenly taking him by the hand and running off, confusing the boy even more... Though as he left he could feel the stares of several, angry, teens. Location: ??? "Protect." "What...?" "Protect the world. That is...Fighter Roa." "What are you talking about!? Who are you!?" Kouta roared. He wasn't sure where he was, it was just blue...space. All he could see was a faint red glow ahead of him. But when he tried to move towards it, the figure only moved further away, leaving him with the cryptic message. Location: White Plum "WHO ARE YOU BASTARD!?" Kouta suddenly yelled out, startling several customers within the cafe. He seemed to have gone into a daze at his post. He was no longer in his school uniform and now his "work" clothes. A random cute ensemble thrown together by his ever so bubbly boss, Asuka Sohma. "Kouta-pii, don't fall asleep at your post." the woman scolded Even though she looked happy...her tone did not show it. Kouta only nodded in return, and his boss smiled at him, returning to work. "That weird dream again..." he muttered, rubbing his temples. Location: Sanada Household: Basement It was a blur. The last thing Kazuki remembered was talking to Mitsuki about his stories, about how a white robot he calls Hartzenen fights against mysterious forces to protect the city. After that he blanked out...and woke up in a strange lab, strapped to strange machine. "W...what's going on, where am I?" he muttered, trying to regain his bearings. A quick glance around the room revealed two figures. The first being Mitsuki, he was seemingly annoyed as she was leaning against one of the machines in the lab and the other... "Ah you're awake! Good, good! So you're the boy who sees things? Interesting..." it was a strange man with glasses and clad in a stereotypical scientist getup. He was hyper and was moving too fast for Kazuki to keep up with. "Ah, sorry about treating you like this, but I wasn't sure if you'd cooperate with me....and where are my manners, I'm Ken Sanada, Mitsuki's father." he said simply, smiling as he put a hand on his shoulder, trying to reassure the boy...and failing. "What are you doing, let me go!" the boy protested, trying to wriggle from his restraints, but he was bound too tightly. "Ah...you see I'm interested in this...other world you see. And well...I want to do some experim-" "Mitsuki! Help! Your father's insane!" Kazuki interrupted, calling out to the girl. Who only sighed in response, seemingly uncaring about the boy's well being at current. "Just get this over with, the faster you comply, the faster you can go home." she spoke. The face she showed at school, the normally cheerful demeanor...was not present at all. With that she opted to sit down on what appeared to be a large, red lever of sorts. "Mitsuki, wait don't...!" "Eh?" And so, the lever was pulled and the machine sprang to life as a bright flash filled the room, the only thing heard was Kazuki's screams... Location: Downtown Hyakuji At that very moment, a giant, metal ring appeared in the sky. It's center soon enough lit up, a blue...gate of sorts. But that wasn't the end of it, right after several...mechanical...bug like entities began flying out of it, immediately attacking the city below and sending everyone into a panic. But among the crowd, a strange, white haired girl looked up at the metal ring, seemingly unphased by it as she muttered a single phrase. "Cross...gate." To be continued. Mission 1: Roar! Compatikaiser! Hyakuji was no stranger to being attacked, but this time...it was different. The city normally faced egomaniacs with armies and lesser demons on foot, more often then not targeting an artifact in the city. When it came to giant monsters they were easily sealed or just monsters hellbent on creating fanservice out of the female populace. Such a mass scale of the strange bugs with no other purpose then to destroy was fairly new, and even with the powerful residents the city housed, such a threat was far too large scale and sudden to combat effectively. But the strange bugs weren't the only things to come out of the portal, the "Cross Gate" had not closed after all. Energy began cackling out of it, whatever was going through was big and the gate was unable to handle it. Bit by bit it forced it's way through the gate, a giant black...vaguely humanoid mechanical being. It was easily larger then the bugs...but there was something off about it. ...the fact that it had a large sword sticking out it's back as it completely exited the Gate and crashed into the ground. A smaller mecha escaped the Gate shortly after, this time it was red. The Gate closed as soon as the final one escaped and merely floated in the sky, surveying the area. The sword embedded in the machine below him had suddenly faded away, only to rematerialize inside the red mecha's hand. "Tch...this many crossed over? It's going to be a messy battle. But nothing we can't handle, right partner?" a seemingly female voice said to herself within the confines of the machine. It's thrusters soon flared as it gripped it's sword, flying off to deal with the bugs while the black machine was seemingly downed. "Time to exterminate some Megilotts!" "Is everyone evacuated, Boss?" Kouta asked, looking around the shop. As soon as the attack begun everyone began leaving for the towns shelters, and at current only Kouta and Asuka remained in the White Plum. "I think that's everyone." Asuka mused, before giving Kouta a wry smile. "You know, you're surprisingly competent when it comes to things like this...if only you put this effort into working for me, Kouta-pii...." she added, before pouting a bit at the end. "NOT THE TIME BOSS!" Kouta exclaimed, blushing a bit. You see, he was the one who aided everyone leave the shop in an orderly manner, it was probably his "hero mode" kicking in but no one was hurt and the bugs did not seem to come this way ye- BOOM! The shop shook as one of the buildings nearby fell to a giant bugs attack, to which Kouta looked out the window...seeing that is was lumbering over towards the White Plum. "...Tch. Boss you need to get to safety. I'll see if I can distract it in the mean time..." Kouta muttered, clenching his fists. "...You're not serious are you?" Asuka asked giving him a rather surprised expression. She knew her hot headed employee was reckless...but to go up something like this, that was just suicide. "Do I look like I'm kidding? Go!" he roared, suddenly dashing out through the front door. he knew it was suicide but he needed to at least get his Boss out of harm's way....! "Hey! You bug bastard! Over here! Free target! Why don't you pick on something that at least fights back, huh!?" Kouta roared as he made a mad break towards the bug ahead of him. He wasn't a gifted person, the only thing he knew was how to fight. But he wasn't going to back down, not today, not ever. And he did it. He actually closed the distance and jumped at the bug, right primed for a single punch, one he put everything he had into it...! Nothing, the bug didn't seem to react, but that was expected. He was just a human being, up against a twenty meter tall bug, and as such was flicked aside easily, crashing into a pile of rubble, hard. "...Heh...is that all you got?" he spat as he slowly got up. He was battered and bleeding from his fall, but he wasn't going to let something like this stop him. He's been through worse, he's picked fight with the gifted section and still came out alive. "Come on, do your worst, bug-bastard." he said, smirking all the while. The Megillot's attention was on Kouta now, if only because he wasn't dead. It slowly turned and faced the persistent teen. It seemingly stared him down...before opening it's mouth, revealing a strange...cannon like weapon. "...Shit." he cursed. He couldn't move. His legs weren't letting him. The crash affected him more then he thought. "...Is this the limit to what a normal person can do?" he muttered, looking back at the bug. "Well, at least this should give the Boss time to esca-" He stopped himself from finishing that as Asuka was now in front of him, arms spread out as if saying "Stop!" She was shaking, mostly afraid but she wasn't going to budge. "Boss! You idiot, I told you to run!" "Kouta-pii, I'd be a terrible boss if I let my employee die for my sake. And what were you thinking!? It's crazy to go up against something that big unarmed, now look at you!" she scolded. "...I wasn't thinking straight. I just wanted to protect you and..." "Protect." that voice called out to Kouta once more, his vision began to blur all the while. Was his condition that bad...? "It's fine if you want to protect me but..." He couldn't hear what she was saying. He felt heavy as the voice continued to speak into his mind. "Do you wish to have the power to protect your world?" He nodded, unable to to hear Asuka's scolding while the bug just kept charging it's weapon. Soon enough, a strange arm brace formed on his right arm, and the voice gave him one, final command. "Then Burn Now...the new Fighter Roa!" "B-burn....now....!" "Kouta-pii...?" Asuka turned around to face her employee. Time slowed down for the moment, as Kouta stood firm, looking up at the sky. The Megilott soon enough fired it's mouth cannon firing off a blue, spiral beam. Asuka could only shut her eyes and pray as Kouta let out one, final cry. ![]() "BURN NOW! FIGHTER ROA!" A flash of light, followed by an explosion as the beam hit where Asuka and Kouta were, and when the smoke cleared...there was nothing. The pair were gone. Satisfied, the bug all but turned around and began lumbering away to continue it's destruction. "NOT SO FAST YOU BUG BASTARD! I'M NOT DONE WITH YOU YET!" a voice boomed, catching the bug's attention once more. On the rooftop of the White Plum, a figure in red armor stood, carrying Asuka in his arms. "Kouta-pii!?" Asuka exclaimed, shocked that they were alive, doubly so that Kouta was now in some strange armor. Kouta had since set her down and leapt off the roof, calling out to her as he did. "I'll be right back boss! It's payback time...!" All the while, the red mecha was having an easy time shooting down the Megillots in the sky. They easily fell to the pilots assorted bladed weaponry. Even when she was disarmed, for some reason her mech would just summon a new weapon. Regardless, the bugs attention was now focused on her, but that was the least of her troubles. The black giant began stirring. It was far from dead, and was seemingly good as new now. The pilot of the red machine cursed her luck all the while, she knew it was too easy for that to have happened. The newly christened "Fighter Roa" was faring much better against the giant bug this time around it seemed. A single kick from the armored warrior sent it stumbling back, but if all he had was strength, he'd be unable to defeat the bug. He was pushing it, but was unable to actually deal any significant damage. Of course, him trying to think on how to kill it left him open enough for the bug to knock him into a nearby building. ![]() "Tch. I just can't keep beating on it. I need something...anything to kill this bastard!" he cursed, and once again, the voice filled his mind. "Kouta...summon the flames of your heart, and call forth the Fire Dragon!" "Eh...!? I don't know who you are, but I'll take your word for it...!" Kouta spoke, focusing his energy and suddenly a bright light from his forehead gem began shining. He was moving as if he already knew what to do as he pointed forward, waving his arm a bit as the light shot forth and created a gate. "Fire Dragon....MOEROOOOO!"" he roared, and suddenly flames shot forth from the gate, flames that formed into a dragon as it roared, flying towards the bug and engulfing the monstrosity...and ultimately destroying it, a bright explosion followed and Kouta pumped his fist in the air. He did it! His spirits were dampened though as the red mecha that had been flying about dealing with the bugs had nearly crashed on top of him, and the large black machine was looking down at it. "Hey Mister Voice...you got anything that'll deal with that?" he asked, nervous. The mecha beside him didn't seem to be moving but with the giant black one looking down and priming a strange, dark energy attack...well, he had more pressing matters on his mind. "Call forth your robot, Kouta....call forth, the Compatible Kaiser!" "Okay...I don't know how that's going to work but whatever." Kout scratched the back of his head a bit. How the hell was he going to summon his robot? He didn't even have one! He just looked at his arm brace, flipped a switch, causing a strange comm device to appear as he made a single cry. "ROBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Location: Underneath the Azuma Family Flower Shop Deep underneath the Azuma household was a secret lab, it's existence known only by a single person, Kouta's grandfather: Kisaburo. He was shocked to see the equipment coming to life but at the same time, knew what it meant. He...would have a lot of questions to answer for when Kouta got home. Regardless, the machine stored in the lab, the Compatible Kaiser had sprung to life. It's Over Gate engine powered up as it was moved onto a lift and sent upwards, several doors opening on the way up. The empty lot next to the household soon opened up, and the robot completely showed itself above ground. It's green eyes flashed for a moment, as if calling out to the pilot... "Isn't that where my house is....?" Kouta wondered for a moment, before suddenly being teleported away and ending up inside the Compatible Kaiser! He was caught off guard by it, more so that now he was face to face with someone in similar armor to him...only wearing a hooded cloak. "Greetings. I am Warrior Roa. I'm sure you have a lot of questions right now...but we have more pressing matters at hand." the Roa spoke, turning around and looking at the screen, which showed the large black mech now lumbering towards the immobile Kaiser. "Yeah, I'll ask you the questions after we kick that things ass." Kouta said with a smirk beneath his mask. "HLet's go, Compatikaiser!" he roared, gripping the controls as he sent the red machine at the other. "Compati...kaiser?" "The name's too long and this is easier to say!" It wouldn't be hard to imagine the large bead of sweat forming on the back of Roa's head, but it disappeared the moment Kouta began his "charge" one that was met with the black mecha hurling the charged dark energy orb at his own, sending the Compatikaiser back due to the sheer force. "Okay, not the best of ideas...does this thing have any weapons, Roa?" he asked as he brought the Kaiser to a more steady stance after the hard blow. The machine seemed to have a barrier installed, so it cushioned the blow enough to prevent any major damage. "Just call out for it. The Kaiser Boomerang!" "Okay then!" Kouta roared, at the same time, Compatikaiser seemingly ejected several gold ornaments, two from the shoulders and two from the legs, all of which took to the sky and combined into the weapon. Kouta soon enough reached out for it and grabbed it, before hurling it at the machine before him. "GO! KAISER BOOMERANG!" The golden boomerang flew right at the black mecha, slashing at him as it collided on the mark, before breaking apart and returning to their original spots on the Kaiser. It wasn't phased in the least, however. It only seemed to roar in annoyance. "Okay...we need something larger scaled. Any id-" "HEY!" "Eh?" Kouta turned and looked at the screen, it seemed the other red mecha had opened a communication channel with him, and for the first time saw it's pilot. A fairly annoyed girl. "Look, I don't know who you are, but that thing's my responsibility! Stay out of it!" she yelled out. Her mecha was finally back on it's feet and now flying next to the Compatikaiser. "Excuse me? I try to help and -this- is the thanks I get? If I'm not mistaken didn't you just crash a minute ago!?" Kouta yelled back. What was her problem!? "That was a mistake! Well, whatever. That piece of junk probably can't kill it anyway. I've got specialized equipment for dealing with monsters like this!" she retorted, the red mecha summoned up it's favored sword once more, the machine now gripping it tightly. "Now stay out of it!" And with that, she once again charged the black machine. "What a bitch." Kouta spat, before looking at Roa. "Weapons, what else do I got?" "Excuse me?" "I'm not letting her fight alone, as annoying as she is. I have this power now and I'm going to use it, tell me what else I have." Kouta spoke simply. He didn't care what the girl would think, this was his home he needed to protect. A wry smile underneath his own mask "Try the Kaiser Burst." "Hey bitch! Get out of the way if you know whats good for ya!" Kouta roared over the comm link as the Compatikaiser took a step back to brace itself. "KAISER......!" the green gem on the Compatikaiser's chest began glowing, the letters BF showing up as the attack charged itself up. "Eh, who are you calling a...!?" the girl responded, angered as she suddenly had to pull back, once again she had embedded her sword inside the machine but before she could do much else... "BUUUUUUUUUUUURST!" And it shot forth, the massive golden beam in the shape of the letters BF, engulfing the black machine (and nearly hitting the girl's in the process). Soon enough it was reduced mostly to melted slag, to which Kouta once again pumped his fist up in victory. "Hah! How do you like that!?" "IDIOT! It's not over yet!" the girl yelled out annoyed, pointing to the remains...which had been reforming thanks to the spherical, purple core that was floating above it. "How was I supposed to know that, geeze!? Well, I guess I'll just smash it again!" Kouta spoke defiantly, only to be stopped by the girl. "I'll deal with it, it'll just get worse if you keep doing that." she spoke seriously, her machine now had summoned up a bow, and yet another sword. Where it got them was anyone's guess but for some reason she was now using the sword as an arrow. "This is why only I can deal with this." she muttered, the sword suddenly morphing into an energy arrow of sorts. She pulled back on it as it began cackling, she only had a brief moment before the core was hidden again...! "Dimension...ARROW!" she yelled out, sending the arrow loose and towards the core...and shattering it completely! The remains of the mecha died on the spot, falling to the ground as it had no means of restoring itself. "See, what did I tell you, you....!?" No response. For some reason Kouta had fallen silent and when she opened a visual communication link to check... "Kouta! Wake up Kouta!" the spirit of Roa was trying to wake up a fainted Kouta. It seemed the strain the suit and piloting the mecha was too much for his injured state, and even then he was still new to this. His armor disappeared revealing his battered form, surprising the female pilot greatly. "...don't tell me...IDIOT!" Kouta could only hear faint yells as he blacked out completely. Location: Sanada Basement Kazuki had finally come too, and once again began struggling to try and break free...and he did. For some reason he broke through his restraints with relative ease but something was off... The lab he was in looked as if it hadn't been used in years. All the equipment was rusted and the basement was full of dust and cob webs. And when he took a look around the house there was no sign of Mitsuki or her father. The place was abandoned. Was it all a dream? He wondered as he left the old place, wondering what he went through...little did he know his life would be changed forever. To be continued in Mission 2: Life Sympathy! |
