The Book that is Hyakuji's Story has come to a close. However, there are still plenty of stories left to be told in the madcap Anime Universe it inhabits. As one book closes, so too does another open. Presented by veteran Hyakuji Staff Members, check out the next generation EVOLUTION of "Anything-Goes" Anime Roleplaying at Senki Academy

More than a Ghost on a Shipwreck

Alright, this may be a silly question, but I think it would be interesting discuss especially since this is an RP forum. This will be a simple and clean discussion (no not the song from Kingdom Hearts). Please don't bring up specific examples unless they are nice, and be vague enough so that we don't know if you are talking about someone specifically. Question: What do you think makes a good RPer? What do you think makes a bad one? Simply answer the question the way you see fit, but remember, be nice^^. |

Well... I'm not too good at making long, detailed statements when I'm not posting in-character, so I guess I'll just summarize my views on good role-playing in point form. Narrative: Good narrative would be important to role-playing. Of course I don't expect every role-player to be say, Stephen King, but a good roleplayer should still nonetheless have an eye for detail as well as some knowledge in metaphors, puns and other forms of wordplay to make their posts entertaining. Consistency: This is something that's easier said than done. Being able to stay true to your character's personality as portrayed in his/her original character profile and not deviating in their usual behavior without a good reason. Yeah, that's pretty much my two cents. |

WHAT'S SO FUNNY?
|
I don't think having a great writing ability exactly means that one is a great RPer. To be a writer, that's about all you need, but RPing is different simply because you're interacting with other people. If I could pick out one trait that a good RPer has, it would be FUNNESS. It's great if one is able to post paragraphs and paragraphs of text full of the most minute details, but in terms of RPing, if the majority of that post is about that person's character... then I doubt that thread will reach 10+ posts. Simply put, if that person can RP a good situation and lead the fellow Rpers into a wonderful tango of literature, then he/she is a great RPer. If he/she can incite wonderful roleplays and beautiful situations for other RPers to react to, then he/she is someone fun to RP with, thus making him/her a great RPer in my mind. Everything else is just exacting details. Being fun is my basis on who I like as a RPer.[/b] Edited by MaKeNsHiZeRo, Mar 5 2009, 11:33 PM.

I like it when characters are dynamic and not static, just a personal preference. |
