A lot of people only see one side of my writing, with me writing as Kuro. It tends to be dark, raunchy, and random, because that's the kind of character Kuro has evolved into. I thought I would write something in my spare time to kind of counter-balance Kuro. Meet Kuro's opposite, Kaoru. (Im so original with names.) I've never written like this before, but I'm interested in seeing how she comes to life. Please keep in mind that Im not the kind of writer that carefully prepares a story, lays the framework, and fills in plot, then writes it out. I type what comes to mind at that time, and merely let the ideas flow out onto the paper. I rarely change anything or add in much afterwards, typically I just type whatever I think at the time and go from there. I find it more fun that way rather than writing a story as if from a guidebook. Without further ado, I bring you a heartrending story between two high school students, both with complicated lives, and both completely unaware of the feelings that will rock the very life they live from day to day.

The alarm blared loudly in the fresh morning air, the sound of the morning radio show tearing loudly through the mostly silent house. Downstairs in the kitchen, Kaoru was preparing two bento's, carefully cooking the sausages for one of the side dishes. At the age of 16, Kaoru wasn't the most beautiful girl in her class, but her looks still managed to draw the attention of several boys every now and then. The best way to explain her would have to be "slightly above average". Her hair was short cropped a little higher than her shoulders, fanned out towards the tips, looking as if it was styled daily. The truth was she rarely did much with her dark red hair, a gift from her american father, and the hairstyle was actually bed-head. She was the type of girl who didn't care to impress anyone by wearing makeup and doing her nails or hair daily, but still managed to pull off the natural beauty look. She kept herself neat and clean of course, but never went much farther than that unless it was a formal occasion. Her skin was slightly tanned and her physique decently built, again due to her american blood. Right now, she was dressed in her school unifrom and a plain kitchen apron, so she didn't stain her clothes. She may not care much about her appearance, but she didnt go out of her way to ruin it either.

As she took the sausage off the flame and carefully portioned it out into two bentos, she noticed that the alarm was still going off upstairs. Thankfully, her parents had left early that morning for work, otherwise she was sure they would have been quite angry by now. Most times her parents work kept them working late into the night, causing them to sleep in late most days, and neither of them enjoyed being woken up early in the day. Kaoru's father worked for the american embassy in Tokyo as a translator. He had come over to japan seventeen years ago fresh out of college, where he had met Kaoru's mom. The thought of their meeting brought a smile to Kaoru's face, wondering how the two of them had found anything in common back then. Kaoru's mom was a member of the service, working on special assignments such as diplomatic issues and foreign espionage. Of course no one was allowed to know that, so she had a desk job at the embassy as well, only taking time off to go on missions occasionally. On the day her father was going through his orientation, he had made a wrong turn and happened to end up in her mothers office. Supposedly it was love at first sight for him, and murder at first sight for her, as he had caught her in a rather embarassing moment. She was standing on her desk, balanced precariously on a stack of books as she angrily thumped the ceiling with a broom handle, cursing thoroughly at the floor above. Supposedly the embassy was under construction at the time, and Kaoru's mother happened to be in a newer wing of the compound. Of course Kaoru's father feared for her safety, and leaped forward to steady the woman, only to recieve a thorough beating with a broom handle due to her mother mistaking him for an attacker. Her father was in the hospital for a week due to that incident, and her mother was furiously embarassed. Due to her shame, Kaoru's mother visited her father often, bringing him things to eat daily (which coincidentally increased his hospital stay from two days to seven), which he gladly ate every day while they talked. Six months later, they were engaged, and a year later Kaoru was born.

Kaoru wasn't their only child, and the other child's alarm upstairs had been going off for ten minutes now, causing a vein to pop on Kaoru's forehead. Very calmly she put down her utensils and wrapped up the bentos, setting them carefully on the table. She took a few deep breaths before taking off her apron, hanging it on a small hook next to the pantry. Turning on one heel, her patience broke like a tidal wave breaking against a harbors shores, her face growing red, her hands clenched into fists. She had inherited many things from her irish-american father. She stormed up the stairs, her feet slapping loudly on the hardwood floors of the two story house, approaching a door marked "Do Not Enter!" in large red letters, with small letters underneath "Kaoru, this means you!". Kaoru's foot connected solidly with Enter on the doorway, throwing the door open wildly, the poor door rocking crazily on its hinges. From the amount of scuff marks on the door, this apprantly wasn't the first time.

Inside of the room slept what could only be described as your typical bishoujo 15 year old boy. His hair was bright blond and wavy, almost silky as it lay shrouded around his perfect face sideways on the pillow. He was wearing nothing but a pair of boxers, the covers in disarray on the floor next to the bed. A smooth stomach showed off an impressive eight pack, and finely toned features that would make grown women blush. His skin was smooth and unblemished, his face almost angelic as it lay there innocently amidst the blaring of the angry radio across the room. Many wondered where he got his perfect looks from, as Kaoru's dad was pure Irish-American, and her mother was native Japanese, no american blood diluting her ancestry. Neither had very many light skinned, blond haired blue eyed babies, but Kaoru didn't think much about it. Kaoru grabbed the offending metal clock, hefting it in her hands for a second before tossing it wildly across the room, it slamming into the headboard of her brothers bed, falling down solidly on his too-perfect nose.

The boy jumped out of bed wildly, looking around, his sky-blue eyes that could make most women get weak in the knees settling on his sister. "What the hell Kaoru, what was that for!" he said angrily. He shook his head a bit to clear the sleep out, and took a quick look around the room, gathering his wits about him. Absent-mindedly, he scratched his crotch and yawned before turning his eyes back on his sister. Taking one look at her face, he cringed, knowing what was coming next.

"Kazuo, you idiot!" she yelled angrily, slamming her hand down on the small bookshelf near the door, causing it to shudder dangerously. "Do you have any idea what would have happened if Mama and Papa were still home? Do you even care about waking up the neighbors!? Think about someone other than yourself for a change!" Kaoru crossed her arms over her chest angrily as she stared at her brothers angelic-looking face. 'If only those girls at school who fawned all over him knew how he was at home...' she thought to herself.

Kazuo merely grinned and posed like a male model, his hands behind his head and his hips thrust out lewdly. "Aw c'mon sis, like you can stay mad at a body like this. I can't help it that I need my beauty sleep ya know. You should sleep in more, might help you out some," he laughed. Just then his boxers decided to loosen and fall, causing him to freeze like a stone statue. Kaoru stood there for a second, her look completely neutral, before she busted out laughing and walked calmly out of the room. "Perfect body my ass," she yelled out as she left. "You're a bit too .. small.. to be saying that don't you think?" The last thing Kazuo heard was her raucous laughter going down the stairs, sounding like some perverted old man. Kazuo blushed thoroughly, snatching up his boxers and slamming the door shut to his room.

Kaoru stood impatiently at the front door, glancing at her watch nervously. "Nii-san hurry up already, sheesh. Soccer practice starts in 10 minutes, I'm supposed to be there already!" she yelled up the stairs. She looked out the door to see other students walking by on their way to school, which was conveniently close to Kaoru's house. She looked back to yell once more and nearly choked as she found Kazuo standing right in front of her. "Gosh, don't scare me like that!" She said angrily, pushing him away. She jerked the front door open and walked out the door, the bright sunlight of the morning washing over her. As if by magic, a bright smile lit up her face, and even her walking seemed to be lighter. Kazuo shook his head as he closed the door and locked it, watching her greet her friends out by the road cheerily. No one but Kazuo and her mother and father knew about the secret side of Kaoru. At school she kept up her facade of being the most positive and cheerful person you could ever meet. Even when her grandfather had died all she did was smile every day. Her cheerfulness and bright personality had led her to become the student president even though she was only a sophomore. She was also a manager of the soccer team, and still found time to make dinners and lunches at home. Many viewed her as the perfect girl, but Kazuo knew better.

As he caught up with the group, of course all of the girls eyes were drawn to him, and he playfully threw an arm around his sister, winking at them. "Thank you for taking care of my sister, beautiful nee-sans," he said, smiling playfully at them. Their hearts practically jumped out of their eyes and Kaoru rolled her own. Grabbing his bento, she "gently" handed it to him, slamming it into his chest so hard that it knocked his breath away, forcing him to grab the bento and clutch his chest. She smiled sweetly at him and patted him on the head just as "gently". "Thanks nii-san, but won't you be late at this rate? Run along now like a good 'little' boy and get to class, wouldn't want to miss the bell on my account," she said, her words slicing like a blade into him. The smile never left her face or his as he pulled himself together and strode calmly towards the school gates, his bag thrown over one shoulder. "No, thank you, my ever so gentile sister," he said sweetly. Her friends attention was solely on him as Kaoru pulled down her eyelid and stuck out her tongue at him.

"Wow you guys have such a great relationship, I wish I had a brother like him," they said, practically swooning. The inner Kaoru practically threw up hearing this, but the outer Kaoru just smiled and ushered them forward. "C'mon, we don't want to be late," she said brightly. As her friends turned and trudged towards the gate, disappointed not to hear her lovingly confirm what they were saying, something caught Kaoru's eye near the gate. "You guys go on without me, I forgot something I had to do," she said, smoothly slipping away from them towards the trees inside of the school. Her friends merely nodded, chattering happily about what they had done the night before, oblivious to the world. Walking up to the small patch of trees near the gate, Kaoru spotted what had caught her attention, and noticed a boy sitting up in the tree smoking a cigarette. "What are you doing!" she called out angrily without thinking. "You can't smoke on school grounds!"

The boy merely looked down at her, and took a big puff off the cigarette before jumping down lithely from the tree, landing square in front of Kaoru. "Who are you to preach at me? Huh?" He said angrily, blowing smoke in her face. Coughing, Kaoru sized him up, seeing if she recognized him. His clothes were scuffed up and wrinkled, with small leaves from the tree stuck in the fabric. His hair was black as midnight, spiked in every which direction as it was trying to explode off of his head. A large amount of piercings and metal jewelry adorned his body, and Kaoru wondered how he could walk around like that. The most noticeable thing about him was his eyes though, which seemed to suck Kaoru in from this distance. They were a startling green, so bright Kaoru would have almost thought they were contacts, except he didn't seem the type to need glasses. After a few minutes, she realized she was staring and turned away angrily.

"You shouldn't blatantly disobey the rules like that, what if you got caught? I'm sure your parents would be unhappy too, and whats with all those piercings? This isn't some delinquent school...ngh!" she muttered, her voice cut off as the boy suddenly smiled and grabbed her, planting his mouth over hers roughly and grabbing her around the waist. She struggled against him for a moment before swinging wildly at him, her fist connectinging solidly with his jaw. The boy fell to the side, his teeth biting into her lip, drawing blood. Holding one hand to her mouth, Kaoru angrily kicked him in the chest once for good measure, drawing pleasure from hearing him gasp for breath. "Stupid fucking delinquent, who the hell do you think you are. You think this is some sort of manga? Eat shit and die!," she said angrily, spitting on him as he lay there gasping for breath. She hated people like him, but every school had one. Carefully drawing herself together, she calmly straightened out her clothes and wiped her lip, which was blleding profusely. Kicking him once more as she walked by, she rushed towards the soccer field to get something for her lip, which lay on the other side of the small grove of trees.

Luckily, no one was at the club room when she arrived, since she was a few minutes late. Everyone was already on the field, practicing a bit before school started. She angrily took out the first aid kit, getting some antieptic for the cut and slamming the lid shut. She stared at it for a few minutes, trying to calm down after what that boy had just done. It wasn't like it was her first kiss or anything, but it still shook her to be treated so roughly like that. Worst yet, her heart was still beating furiously in her chest, refusing to listen to what her head was telling it. The image flashed through her head again and again, and she angrily walked over to the water fountain, splashing some water on her face trying to clear her mind. Her mind was so focused on what had just happened, she didn't hear the door creak open behind her, or the footsteps approaching her from behind. Two hands reached around her face, covering her eyes, and she screamed loudly, flailing against her would-be attacker.

"Kaoru, stop!" a familiar voice called out to her, clutching her body tightly. "Whats wrong with you?" the voice said, as Kaoru opened her eyes, staring straight into the eyes of the last person she wanted to see right now. Embracing her tightly was the captain of the soccer team, Satoru Amano. Kaoru felt her cheeks heat up as she pushed him away, turning back around. "Sorry you startled me," she said cheerfully, wiping at her face with a towel, attempting to get some self-control back. She felt Satoru's hands on her shoulder again and she flinched, turning back to him slightly. "What happened to your face?" he asked worriedly, brushing his thumb across her lips. He looked down at it, noticing a little blood and looking back at her quickly. "Did someone...?" he began quietly, his hands on her shoulders.

Kaoru merely stared at him for a second before busting out laughing, thumping him playfully on the shoulder. "What are you thinking, you pervert," she said brightly, tossing the towel into a hamper nearby and smoothly breaking out of his grasp. She snatched up a small stack of towels and some water bottles and walked towards the door. "I accidently bit my lip this morning as I was walking to work, Sachi had me laughing so hard I wasn't paying attention. i'm such a klutz sometimes," she said, laughing. She was glad her back was to him now as she walked out the door, leaving him standing confused in the middle of the room. It took her a minute, but she managed to regain her composure by the time she got out to the field, and was greeted by the cheers of the soccer team as their manager arrived,
