The entrance bell to Cafe Mahou jingled as Hiro stepped in and held the door open, always a habit, for Eleanor to enter. Along the way Hiro had taken the liberty to point out what sights could be seen along the way. Ontop of this he also detailed Arcadia a bit more and their struggles with Cain. The name would've rung a bell, he had told her all about his original run in with the monstrous vampire in Europe still before he departed.

Hiro, "And this would be Cafe Mahou..."

Hiro finished speaking the sort of half-tour to Eleanor as he awaiting holding the door. Several of the maids taking orders half looked up to check upon hearing Hiro's voice but noticing he had a friend with him they merely shouted various greetings and went about their work. It had been a nice day so far, pain upon the face aside, and so far it was only getting better and better. Hiro was slightly embarassed to show Eleanor the Cafe, he had considered it on the way over, not so much because Maid Cafe's were an odd thing in Japan but because she would quite easily deduct, with her sharp mind, his less than entreprenurial motives behind opening one.

And in the endless pause there came the sound of bees.
Smiling at Hiro's curteous gesture, Eleanor entered the cafe. She'd been surprised by the news about Cain appearing so recently, though she was glad to hear that the up and coming occult-expert had finally done away with that monster once and for all. Hmph, at least he was still worthy of his codename, shooting things up and asking questions later.

On a slightly lighter note, where on earth had Hiro picked up such an entrepreneurial spirit? Teaching, running an occult bookstore, and a cafe? Wasn't that a bit much to ask of one man? Sill, one would think the businesses ran themselves from the way "Gunslinger" talked, the daily operations apparently left largely up to his employees. Naturally it was safe to assume the majority of them would be female; anyone who knew Hiro at all could guess that much, and yet nothing could have prepared Eleanor for this cafe...she'd never seen anything like it before.

Over a dozen girls, all dressed in maid outfits ripped right out of someone's favorite anime, all taking orders and carrying plates of food. Her Christmas-colored gaze widened at the sight of it, the polite bows and small giggles of each waitress sure to earn an extra tip from their male guests. Not to mention the smell of the food, which to Eleanor spoke of a place that had more going for it than just the "service".

After they'd taken their seats and been handed their menus, Eleanor's eyes scanned it quickly, only a short moment passing before she asked the oh-so-usual question. The same question people in this exact situation had been asking for...probably a hundred years or so.

"So...what's good?"

Hiro, "Everything really! Err well... I guess I have to say that being the Owner..."

Hiro started laughing as he shook his head slowly. A part of himself was quite surprised with his own actions. He hadn't felt this relaxed or at ease in a very long time. Shifting he kept his own eyes locked forward still enjoying the mystifying unique-ness of Eleanor's own eyes as he continued trying to answer in a more direct way.

Hiro, "Well, you said tea originally... I based the concept for our tea here a lot on you and the stuff you'd drink and have me try anyways so you might as well try it and let me know if I did a good job or not."

Hiro smirked and then nodded slowly; it was true. He knew little about tea himself and didn't have a huge preference and he naturally equated tea to Eleanor for a myriad of reasons so it just seemed a natural choice when he was planning things. As one of the many maids approached and asked for their order. In a cheery tone Hiro addressed her immediatly.

Hiro, "Just water for me right now, treat my friend to whatever she wishes on the house..."

'Meh, why do they always have to say everything...' Eleanor pondered with annoyance, resisting the urge to roll her eyes. Granted, he -was- the owner, but still, couldn't he at least narrow the choices down? Ah well, this was more of a coffee and desert place anyways, judging by the selection.

Tapping her fingers on either edge of the menu as it rested in her lap, Eleanor patiently listened to Hiro's ramblings as her eyes continued to examine the choices offered, nodding slowly as he mentioned tea. She was about to respond however, when their waitress arrived and asked for drinks. A pretty young thing she was, leaving Eleanor to wonder just how many of these girls knew about their employer's...reputation with the opposite sex.

"Lemonade." Was Eleanor's response, the sweet yet sour beverage having become a personal favorite of hers for a number of years now. Yes, Eleanor had changed a bit since Hiro had last been around...her clothing was now much more conservative, her overall demeanor a bit less aggressive, and as for her tastes in food and drink...well, she doubted that if he even tried guessing at her favorite food for half a day he probably wouldn't get it.

"To tell the truth dear," Eleanor said as the waitress scuttled off like the busy little bee that she was, "I haven't had tea in a few years now."

A lot of things had changed since the day Hiro had left, and though she was loathe to admit it, most of the changes had been nothing more than distractions...just ways to keep from thinking about a certain someone who was much closer to her than they realized.

'Hmph, don't be a fool, Eleanor.' Her cynical side reminded her.

'He's probably got more women's names in his spell book than actual magic.'

Hiro, "Not in a few years? Really!?"

Hiro asked in a bout of shock. Was this really Eleanor? Boldly, as Hiro usually was, he reached out with one of his arms slowly and gently placed the back of one of his hands against Eleanor's forehead gently. Her skin felt soft and as nice as it always had but she didn't feel sick in the least. She wasn't sick and the energy feelings were Eleanor without a doubt; she had changed for some reason.

Pulling arm back slowly Hiro slouched down in the chair as usual and let out a relaxed sigh. It had always been comfortable working with Eleanor and perhaps, in his hard to understand wisdom, the Guild Master had paired them together for this purpose. Laughing again Hiro continued the conversation. There was so much they had missed out talking about.

Hiro, "But I guess what I've been wanting to ask since we met... Did you ever meet someone? Romantically, I mean..."

For all her stunning looks and rather calming stable attitude Eleanor had never been one to date often, at least not for the time Hiro had known her. Now it had been years; who knew what that time would bring.

Was it really so hard to believe?

Sure, tea was great, but in the past few years Eleanor had left many of her old habits and favorites behind, in pursuit of improving her magecraft and attending to her ever increasing duties within the guild. Quirking a brow as Hiro felt her forehead like some overly concerned mother, she batted it away with one hand and rolled her eyes. "Honestly dear, you worry far too much," she chuckled dryly. He always had been concerned with the well being others (females especially), but much more so now since his coming to Hyakuji...had these kids really changed him that much?

Sighing, laughing, and sitting up once more before carrying on the conversation, Hiro proceeded to ask a question that made Eleanor's stomach plummet. Was it really necessary to ask -that- question in particular? For the umpteenth time however, she had to remind herself that this was Hiro she was talking to. She would have been quite surprised (and disappointed) if he hadn't asked at all, so perhaps it was time to finally lay her cards on the table.

"No, I haven't bothered with any of that for quite a while. Developing my skills has taken up virtually all of my time, really," she stated with finality, the crispness in her tone heightened in order to hide her discomfort with the topic. Though naturally...she was curious as well.

"...And what about you?"

He frowned slightly as she brushed his hand away. Perhaps he had changed, but he had to worry now. He had seen it, others far younger than himself falling, dying to try and protect others and for this reason he had to be a greater protector so that nobody else would have to die. Hiro's eyes turned softer however as Eleanor mentioned her shift of focus solely on personal improvement.

So she's had a rough time while I've been here goofing off, Hiro mused to himself mentally. It was true that he had grown in his powers as well but that wasn't all. He didn't think when he had asked about relationships, it was a natural curiosity, and to now have it thrown back in his face caused Hiro to shift a little uncomfortably in his seat as he pondered the situation.

He knew what he should say. The old Hiro would've lied, but he wasn't that person anymore. Letting out a soft sigh he began to speak.

Hiro, "Ah... well... I guess like most things that is kind of complicated, Eleanor..."

And slowly, as from before, Hiro began to try and piece things together for her as best as he could. From initially acting much as he did when they were partners to the issues with Lillian and Kurei, the complications of Judah and the current rather odd situation with Kurei, all about her, and though he spoke calmly inside Hiro felt ashamed to have to tell this all to Eleanor on some level.
