And in the endless pause there came the sound of bees.
*CRACK!*

Hyakuji was a little quiet.

*CRACK!*

And although she'd never admit it to anyone but herself, Reika was a bit lonely.

*CRACK!*

But it was times like this that reminded Reika why she loved baseball so much. Because no matter how alone she was, there was always this...just swinging the bat. As she stood atop the rooftop, the young red-head wielded a perfectly normal baseball bat that she'd borrowed from the athletic facilities, with a foot-high bucket of baseballs standing next to her, its contents gradually diminishing as Reika launched each of them "out of the park" with every swing.

*CRACK!*

Being slightly upset, she wasn't so much working on her form, swinging only with one arm, while throwing the baseballs into the air with her other, not looking unlike a tennis player serving, only instead of jumping into the air with a vertical swing, hers were horizontal. It was a dark and cloudy day, the sun doing all of its shining behind a layer of dullness and slog that filled the sky, a slight chill in the breeze that had been enough for Reika to put on an extra jacket today.

*CRACK!*

She could almost hear the whistle of each projectile as she launched it, though without being in Hashi form, she wouldn't be doing anything -too- outlandish. Still, she had considered it, and it had been a while since she'd last used her powers...

'Maybe just once?' She pondered, standing there a long moment as she held the ordinary wooden bat in her hands, wishing it was her -real- bat. Meh, she'd avoid it for now, no sense in stirring up too much trouble this soon after her arrival. Speaking of trouble, where were all the students, anyways? The announcement said something about a week long break...but it had been posted weeks ago! Maybe something had gone wrong? Was the school closing down? Oh welll, she'd worry later. Right now...baseball.

*CRACK!*

The door that lead to the rooftop proper soon opened, followed by the sound of footsteps. What followed was the sound of a fairly deep voice that spoke in a somewhat exasperated tone. "Uwaaah. This school is so big, I didn't expect to lose my way a couple of times getting around." the man mused out loud.

It was Hongo, apparently touring the new school so he could get used to it now that he was going to start working here. He had actually just finished his little tour and wanted to come up here for some air...he was quite fond of high places anyway.

"Hm...? Didn't expect anyone to be here..." he mused out loud once more, noting the girl who was up here swinging a bat, launching balls into the distance. Well, at least there were students around. It seemed that due to the break most were just occupied elsewhere.

Say "Battletoads" again! I dare you!
Satori was making his way towards the main building, Matsu flying high above like a human kite. The young man was invisible, but not intangible at the time, there was no point. It took energy to will him to be seen, and more to make him intangible. The worst thing that could happen was a low flying plane, and the young spirit could outmaneuver one of those on a bad day.

More importantly he had two things to do at the building. One was to prepare for his special game, the other more immediate issue was investigating this strange noise emanating from the rooftop.

As if in answer to his question another crack sounded. A second later he heard Matsu cry out in pain. The young spirit spiraled towards the ground like a crashing plane. He hit the dirt near Satori with a bit of a crunch. He moaned in pain. The source of his injury came falling a second behind, dropping right into Satori's palm.

"...baseball?" he smirked. This kind of thing had become more and more popular as of late. A silly American sport. A second crack sounded, and this time, knowing what to look for, he saw a small white sphere rocket from the roof top.

"Impressive..." he thought out loud. Matsu rose to his feet, panting a little bit. His spike hair was standing on end.

"Impressive!?" he shouted. Before Satori could even respond the young spirit...the young demon, shot off the ground heading towards the roof. Might as well let him investigate.

Reika paused mid-swing as the rooftop door opened, causing the ball she'd thrown into the air to bounce at her feet, before rolling down off the edge of the roof. Who was this guy? He had a fairly intimidating look about him, tall and strong looking. Was he a teacher? Or maybe the rooftop janitor? Wait, did those even exist?

"Oh, hi there." Reika said, a faint smile showing as some form of company had finally shown up. Personally she would've preferred a student, but it could always be worse, right?

"I didn't expect anyone to be here either, actually." Reika said with a small giggle. "Are you...a teacher here?" Reddish-pink eyes twinkled quizzically as she tilted her head, very curious about this man indeed. Did adults find places like this calming as well?

"You could say that, though I haven't really started working yet." Hongo said chuckling a bit before giving the girl a warm smile. Despite looking intimidating...he didn't really give off that feeling. For the lack of a better term, he just felt harmless despite his size. Regardless the man shut the door behind him before moving simply to lean on the fences that surrounded the rooftop proper.

"Name's Hongo Takeshi, recently hired Gym teacher." he soon spoke up, introducing himself with a rather broad grin. "Am I interrupting anything?" he asked shortly after.

((No need to reply to this. It’s like a cameo.))

As Kagura wandered quietly down the street - plain brown school bag in hand while attired in her spiffy new uniform - she couldn’t help but feel the soft pitter-patter of her heart picking up pace. The anticipation within her building up with each step she took as the large majestic gates before her drew closer. Today was the day, she thought, the day she saw her new school!

Naturally, despite her eagerness, Kagura’s face remained as stony as ever, not even making room for a twitch as a subtle briskness snuck its way into her step. And as she got closer, the intensity of her stride simply increased.

By the time she was on top of the gates, Kagura was almost at a run; her excitement reaching a crescendo as she swiftly rounded the corner and came to an abrupt halt, her eyes momentarily blinded by a bright white light as the sight of the school opened up before her. Oh, wait, that’s not a li~ *Thwock*

The circular white missile had smacked her right on the forehead, forcing her to jerk her head backwards. And as she slowly began to fall, the darkness closing in around her, all she could offer was a confused, “Huh?”

Matsu rose up above the roof on an updraft that then swept over the two people standing there. Some tough looking adult and red headed girl. The guy looked like the type who would hit someone with a ball for no reason. Had he taken the time to examine the situation further he might have avoided what happened next.

"Oy, you bastard, you'll pay for that!" He shouted, suddenly rushing at the man over the fence. He would take him out in one blow with his flying drop kick.

Satori barely had time to react. Not knowing what was going on up top. With a slight exertion of his will Matsu became quite visible, even as he flew at Hongo.

"I'd better get up there..." Satori mumbled to himself. Normally he would just fly up, but controlling Matsu in such a mood would be troublesome. Instead he did the next best thing, he took the stairs.

All it took was a smile from the tall stranger, and Reika already felt more at ease around him, his general demeanor fairly friendly overall. Ah, so he was her Gym Teach- WAIT, WHAT NOW? This man was the gym teacher? How amazing was that! He looked like a gym teacher too (didn't they all?), but with classes canceled, no wonder he was on the rooftop! He was probably just bored.

"Oh, my name's Reika Umito, 1st year. I have you first period, whenever class starts up! You can count on me to do my very best!" Reika proclaimed, beaming from ear to ear now. "And no, you weren't, I'm just bored is all. Baseball's my fav-"

Reika didn't have time to go on further, as a sudden cry of anger drew her attention to what looked like a ghostly figure suddenly appearing from nowhere, a kick being sent towards her new-found teacher. "Takeshi-Sensei, look out!" she warned, her limbs already crackling with the slightest hints of bluish-tinted electricity as she considered taking Haishi form...though the teachers here all had powers too, didn't they? Surely he'd be able to defend himself...

Aha, so the girl was going to be in his class, and he all but nodded along as the girl made her own introduction and answered his question. "You got spirit kid, I like th-" he was then interrupted by both his natural sense for danger and intent to harm him along with the Reika's timely warning. As such he turned rather quickly to counter the threat.

As such he used his left arm to block the drop kick, his altered body not buckling in the least under the impact, he'd then attempt to use his free arm to grab the strange thing's leg, and for all intents and purposes throw him on the rooftop for questioning.

"What is it with me and getting attacked lately?" he muttered bitterly.

Matsu was stunned when his supposedly perfected flying kick was blocked by the mans arm, but he was truly shocked when he then grabbed one of his legs and heaved down. He barely had time to gather the wind around him and cushion himself against the ground.

He halted just a few inches away from the roof top. Without hesitation, hoping to move before the man could react he shot upwards, trying to drag him into the sky.

"Take this you stupid bastard!" he shouted angrily.

---

Meanwhile, Satori made his way into the building. He headed for the stairs at a calm gate. As he made his way towards the roof he passed a few of the faculty members who had to keep working over the break, and some of the maintenance people.

Reika's eyes went wide with a sort of awe as she watched her Gym teacher not only react in time to block and utterly stop the blow, but to throw his opponent to the ground as well. However, it appeared that the strange attacker had some sort of levitation powers, and made full use of them to avoid a painful impact. Did this teacher of hers have a lot of enemies?

The position didn't last long, as the attacker then rose himself into the air, attempting to take Takeshi-Sensei with him, with Reika standing by looking a bit undecided.

'Should I do it?' She wondered, still on the razor's edge of transforming and attempting to nail the assailant with one well-placed pitch to the back of the head. Even from this angle it wouldn't be hard in Hashi form, aside from a slightly awkward throwing arc.

No, for now she would watch and wait. Transforming had to wait until it was -absolutely- necessary...didn't it?

Hongo was a fairly large man, such that try as Matsu might he actually was only a little bit off the ground at the rate he was going. But Hongo was fairly calm about things, and wasn't really struggling...against, he just had this...puzzled look on his face as he looked at Matsu. It was just some...kid.

"Uhm...you don't look like a member of Shocker, so before I have to actually get serious I'd like to know why you're attacking me." he asked with a nervous chuckle. He didn't want to have to use any form of force right now, but when left with no choice...

Matsu struggled with all his might, but he could barely even budge the old bastard. Without Satori's power amplifying his own he was too weak to build up the necessary lift. Finally he stopped, just floating there.

He let out an exasperated groan and mumbled to himself, "Where's the dirty old cyclops when you need him?"

On the plus side, it looked like the jerk wanted to negotiate. For that power he sure was a coward. "I could ask you the same!" he exclaimed indignantly. He gestured at the large lump on his forehead and glared.

"I know you humans like your silly games, but that's no excuse to hit innocent spirits with a god damn ball!" He made a rude gesture at the man. While he had visibly calmed, inside he boiling mad. This idiot wouldn't see it coming.

"Kya!" he swung his foot out, a swift kick to the head to end it!

---

"Dismissed!" A voice called out from behind. Before Matsu's kick even reached Hongo the young spirit disappeared in a swirl of wind.

"Call me a cyclops eh?" Satori mumbled to himself. The little bur head couldn't keep himself out of trouble for even a second. He tossed the baseball up and down a couple times.

"Sorry for the trouble, is this yours?" he said, looking right at the girl. Even with one eye, he was far more perceptive than the brash little demon he called a servant. And deep down inside, another spirit stirred. A voice uttering in the back of his mind. "Baseball..."

Oh no! At this rate the attacking ghost would carry her teacher up to dangerous heights of...less than an inch off the ground. Reika blinked and giggled slightly as her teacher attempted to understand -why- this strange boy was just...attacking him. The boy just gave a nasty remark about being hit by a-

...a baseball?

Reika's eyes widened with comprehension, but just before she could try and explain things, the young assailant launched himself into a kick aimed towards Takeshi-Sensei's head. All of that nonsense was for nothing however, as the agitated young man simply...poofed. The man responsible for dispelling him how stood in the rooftop doorway, tossing a rather unmistakable sphere in his hands and asking for its owner. At first, Reika was hesitant to even admit it, but with the baseball bat in her hands, it was fairly plain.

"Yeah..." She began slowly, rubbing the back of her head in embarrassment and smiling sheepishly. "Sorry if I hit you or your friend, I didn't think anyone would be out here on such a cloudy day...". Reika wasn't known for knocking people in the head with her baseballs, but it was bound to happen sometime, though on a day like today, she'd hoped to have this place all to herself...ah well. At least the gym teacher was cool.

For a brief moment one would see Hongo tense up as he actually got into a proper fighting stance, he was a bit sad that it had to come to this: after all, it was just a kid. However, he wouldn't need to actually do anything as the kid suddenly disappeared causing Hongo himself to just blink for a moment, wondering what happened.

Following that another man would appear, this one had an eye patch. Well, it seemed the situation had calmed down and sure enough he at least found out why he was suddenly attacked. Well, no harm done, he figured.

"Could have been worse though. The kid had enough spirit to at least come up here and do something about it, at least no one was seriously hurt." Hongo spoke, trying to reassure Reika a bit, before turning to Satori. He didn't look like a student so Hongo went about to ask the obvious.

"You a teacher too? Name's Takeshi Hongo, looks like we'll be working together." he spoke up, giving the man a broad grin.
