"It's a beautiful night..." Selene mused as she walked through the park, gazing up to the ocean of stars. The English girl glanced over to her side to look at Satsuki, wondering how her room mate was doing - it was really a shame that despite sharing the same residence on the campus their paths seldom crossed and the two girls knew next to nothing about each other; the afternoon at the pizzeria was a good start, but that would've been merely the tip of the iceberg. Still, they could spend more time together to know each other, and it certainly wouldn't hurt to have Satsuki make a few more friends in the process.

But as the day of fun and excitement drew to a close, it was pretty much time to head back to their dorms to get some much-needed rest.

With the way things are going, it would seem they're all back on track - with the earlier threat of the Apostles and the recent Arcadia mission in mind, Selene couldn't help but get a feeling of impending doom at first, but with her new found friends, it would seem that things might just turn out fine when classes begin.

"So, Satsuki-san, enjoyed yourself?" Selene asked.

Satsuki gazed up at the night sky as her roommate commented on how beautiful it was. Nowadays though, she couldn't really enjoy the daytime sky unless it was cloudy, because she needed to have something between her and it, whether it was a building or an umbrella. She could stand out under it for a short period of time if she had recently drank blood, but soon she would get tired as if she had tried to stay up all night studying, and would fall over asleep.

"I did. Thank you very much of inviting me, Selene-san." She replied, trying to be as polite as she can because Selene seemed like a really really rich upperclass kind of person, and she didn't want to insult her or be rude to her. "I'm just surprised that everyone accepted me so easily... Maybe it was Ayane's speech about how no one is an outcast here... I just thought people wouldn't want to spend time with me once they learned what I am, being too afraid of what I might do to them. And I was also afraid that people might try to hurt me or something because of what I am... I'm very glad that Jameson brought me here, and helped me get registered."

She really was quite happy about the outcome from the restaurant. It was nice being able to be open and honest about what she was, instead of hiding it and trying to pretend she was just a normal person. And classes seemed like they would be quite enjoyable, although she was wondering now how gym would work when there are people who can do all kind of weird things... Maybe it was to help students gain control over their powers so they could blend in better, or an upgrade to normal gym to fit increased physical abilities and other powers...

"I did. Thank you very much of inviting me, Selene-san." Satsuki replied.

Selene smiled warmly in response, placing her hands in her coat's hip pockets, "What matters most to me is not what you are physically... but what you are on the inside... it is by deeds and not blood I judge others." The British heiress rested her hand on the right side of her chest, at where the heart is located.

"Despite being a vampire... I can see you possess a heart that is most human indeed." Selene had always been one to believe in nurture over nature - people were generally born good and kind, but whether they are righteous or wicked all depended on what kind of knowledge and experiences they were raised on - this was the belief she was raised on, and she had never questioned it. After all, her father worked as a minister for planar affairs in the Ministry of Magic - and promoting cooperation and goodwill between humans and demi-humans was something that she had been exposed to since the day she could talk.

"Ah, Jameson..." Selene smiled at the mention of the name. "He's got a good heart... he can be a bit hard to agree with at times, but he always means well for others, I too wonder where he has gone..." the English girl sighed, a faraway look in her eyes. Closing her eyes, Selene made a prayer to her missing friend, whispering...

"Wherever you are, Jameson, please be well."

As Selene began to talk about her reasons for accepting the vampire girl so easily, Satsuki thought about why exactly it was she was so afraid of people. It was probably all of the books she had read in what little spare time she gave herself, the ones about vampires being monsters, killers, murders, luring in men or women sometimes, and other times being a monster in the dark. She had just assumed that people would view her like that, irrationally, because of all of the stress from this sudden change.

"I just thought about all of the stories I've read about them, I guess... How they always ended up being killed, and how they lived. I thought people might want to try to kill me just because of what I am, or run away for fear that I would try to use my powers to drink their blood. But it seems here, people don't have preconceptions of what you are like just because of something like you being turned into a vampire. And Jameson... I didn't know him for long, but he didn't seem like the kind of person to just run off unless it was important. We can just wait for his return and ask him why he left." She replies, quite happy now after all of what Selene had said. She was glad that she could be accepted here, and possibly in other places. And she could always work on the needing blood thing so she could eat other things, like her favorite curry.

"Stop, Vampire." someone called out to them.

A figure stepped from the well of light from a nearby lamppost. It should be obvious who it was. Dressed in a dark, fairly mannish suit, it was someone Selene had seen often enough.

Except she hadn't come in her capacity as Selene's trainer, or friend, or for that matter, as a person really.

"Kurenai Satsuki, you are arranged to be taken into protection or captured. The request comes from the Kaimu Mages' Association, and I am the mediator for the request. Do you have any objections?" Miyuki told them.

"Stop, Vampire." someone called out to them. That voice... it was a very familiar voice to Selene, for there was no mistaking who it belonged to. Partially-illuminated by a nearby lamp post, there she was - business suit, blue eyes, gray hair and all - Takamachi Miyuki; Miss Blue, the Magic Gunner... the Ice Bitch.

Selene sighed, since the night involving the stranger in black she'd come to grow somewhat disillusioned with the sharpshooter; or at least, with the methods she advocated. "What is it this time, Miyuki-san?" the British heiress asked wearily, her arms folded across her chest.

"Kurenai Satsuki, you are arranged to be taken into protection or captured. The request comes from the Kaimu Mages' Association, and I am the mediator for the request. Do you have any objections?" Miyuki told them.

"Taken into protection? Captured!?" Selene asked in English, stepping forward and putting herself between Satsuki and Miyuki. "I don't like those words one bit, are they taking her for some kind of wanted criminal?" The English girl couldn't believe her ears - as far as 'criminal' goes, Satsuki was clearly one of the last people she knew who'd fit the bill, and she couldn't believe someone would want to have someone as friendly and kindly as Satsuki brought in as if she were an escaped convict.

She seemed almost surprised

"Kurenai Satsuki, you must have..."

The implication should have been clear. She didn't think Selene would have supported Satsuki on her own, and it was quite know that Vampires could hold people in their sway afterall.

"Kurenai Satsuki, you must have..."

"Must have what? Placed me under a spell?" Selene asked as she stood protectively before Satsuki. The British heiress was no stranger to vampire lore, and she was well aware of mind control being one of the primary abilities of a vampire - but as far as she could sense, the redheaded vampire had made no attempts to invade her mind.

"What do your clients at the Kaimu Mage Association want with Satsuki-san?" the English girl demanded. "If you don't tell me what your clients want with her, I'm not turning her in for no good reason..." Although Miyuki had said, 'brought in for protection' the words bore her no comfort; she had no idea what the magi and the Kaimu Mage Association would do to her new friend, and the thought of Satsuki coming to harm just didn't sit well with the British heiress.

"Be quiet. Seriously, you always get yourself into such troublesome affairs." She almost rolled her eyes at that, the voice was dripping with contempt. "Or is it that, 'oh, I'm a knight in shining armour out to save everyone' mindset still firmly lodged in there?"

Her face returned to a serious expression, and she again resumed a formal posture, as if delivering an ultimatum.

"I'm a mediator, I only carry out contracts. Their business with Kurenai Satsuki is their own. Selene, if you are going to get in my way, I will have to take on you for interfering. This matter does not involve you." she said matter-of-factly "I shall say it again. Kurenai Satsuki, you are arranged to be taken into protection or captured. The request comes from the Kaimu Mages' Association, and I am the mediator for the request. Do you have any objections?"

And that was that. She had a job to do. Selene should know (or at least should have known) about this and what she did for a living. Afterall, did she not say before, 'I've never been much of a role model for anyone to follow.' when Selene first expressed admiration? Any disillusionment wasn't her concern.

"Be quiet. Seriously, you always get yourself into such troublesome affairs." Was that contempt that Selene detected in Miyuki's response "Or is it that, 'oh, I'm a knight in shining armour out to save everyone' mindset still firmly lodged in there?"

The British heiress decided not to argue, but instead allowed the sharpshooter to say her peace. "I'm a mediator, I only carry out contracts. Their business with Kurenai Satsuki is their own. Selene, if you are going to get in my way, I will have to take on you for interfering. This matter does not involve you." Miyuki said matter-of-factly.

Selene looked over her shoulder at Satsuki while asking, "Satsuki-san, are you okay with this?" If Satsuki agrees to go with Miyuki to see her clients at the Kaimu Mages' Association, there was really nothing she could do except to respect the vampire redhead's decision, but on the other hand, if worst came to worst...

Selene rested her hands in the hip pockets of her coat, her left hand clenching the bejeweled gold handle of her ritual dagger.

Satsuki's mind went into overdrive and her ears turned off when she heard the words "Kaimu Mages' Association." There was a Mages' Association in the city she lived in? She almost doubted it for a moment, but then realized that it was possibly true since she had meet wizards... It wasn't too odd to consider that there were more people out there, possible graduates of Hyakuji and other schools, that enrolled students who had unusual abilities... Strange events did seem to happen every so often too, like students mysteriously transferring in or transferring out, with unusual and sudden excuses. And there as that gas explosion that blew up a building, damaging those nearby, and burning all bodies beyond recognition... There were other strange events too, although she couldn't remember most of them right now. Those could have been just normal events that seemed odd, but then again... There could have been supernatural events going on in the city when she was researching them in the library.

Hmm... There were an awfully large number of books on the supernatural, full of intricate details. Like a bibliography by a modern vampire that managed to live his life through drinking tomato juice and a small animal every once in a while. There was also one by a supernatural hunter, a journal of all of the beings he had killed. They probably were just tales, but sometimes the best way to hide something is to hide it in plain sight... And no one would expect a normal library's fantasy section to contain books that were fact instead of fiction.

"Ah.. umm.. I'm fine right now... I have people I can rely on so I won't cause any trouble. I'm fitting in well here, so I don't think I should move back. If this association wishes to get in contact with me, they can send me a letter or come talk with me. If it is about the vampire that attacked me though... It all happened so quickly that I don't remember anything about it. I'm sorry that I can't help you anymore." Satsuki says, having come back to reality after Selene had asked her if she was okay with this, entirely missing the entire conversation as she was too busy remembering the past and thinking about what had gone on in her life up until now. "I can write this down on a piece of paper if you need something to give to them."

"So... you have no intention of complying then?" she sighed "Then it cannot be helped. As the contractor of the mission, I will capture you."

...

It was bothersome, but it would have to be done the hard way it seems. The things she did for money, but it couldn't be helped. Afterall, she did pretty much stretch her credit limits in order to arrange for Aisia, and she still needed to make enough to maintain everything and still eat.

"Satsuki-san, run for it! I'll keep her busy!" Selene shouted as she dived at Miyuki, trying to tackle the sharpshooter to the ground - with the distance between the two of them there was simply no time for the British heiress to perform her Blood Ritual... furthermore, she would prefer to wait for a more opportune moment to play her trump card...

"WRONG ANSWER, MIYUKI!"

Came the British heiress' battle-cry as she literally pounced towards the magus-killer like a leopard stalking its prey, hoping that Miyuki wasn't expecting her to make so bold a move to stop her.

She almost started for Satsuki when Selene's sudden movement started. The Englishwoman really did talk too much when fighting. Miyuki thought she'd taught her to keep that to a minimum, though apparently that particular lesson didn't sink in.

Her response was conditioned, and automatic.

A left straight toward's Selene aimed for her center of gravity.

That she was wearing her gloves also meant it was serious - each knuckle held an ounce of powdered metal, both to soften the shock to her fist and provide additional weight behind the blow.

Whut...?
As to what possessed Jun to come out here to the park today... only God knew for sure. Jun was not the type of person to come to ther park, specifically because she stood out that much more with noone else around to semi-blend into a crowd. But, today was a rather nice day so she figured she'd suck it up and get some fresh air with a walk outside rather than hiding in her dorm all day. Just a normal day... right?

"WRONG ANSWER, MIYUKI!"

Jun stopped in her tracks, not completely sure where that voice had just come from. She looked around her, not finding anything right away, though she could tell which direction the voice had come from. Unsure of whether someone was in need of help or not, Jun headed in that direction, hoping she would find the source of the commotion before it was too late...
