When the owl post had come in, Bella was just about to enter the castle. She took a seat on the immense stone steps to read what she assumed would be another list of questions or demands from her mother about the wedding. Turning the thick envelope over in her hand, the writing was not one that she'd recognized. A puzzled look flitted across her face as she slid her hand under the flap of the envelope and broke the elaborate G that was stamped into the red wax seal that held it closed. The stiff ivory parchment in her hand trembled slightly as Bella read the measured cursive script. A small wrinkle appeared on her brow and she read it through again. She was unable to stop the sudden intake of breath as the words sunk in. Her features were sculpted into a controlled look that betrayed none of the emotions that were brewing within her. Her heart was hammering in her chest with a exuberant tempo. The only outward sign of her inner excitement was the slight shaking of her hands. She slid the note she'd been reading into her robe pocket as she got to her feet. So this is what pure unadulterated hope felt like, she thought as she quickly gathered her rucksack from the step beside her. Slinging it over her shoulder with practiced ease, she pulled the huge wooden doors open to slip into the castle. Immediately she moved with purpose through the busy corridors. Classes had let out for the day and the student population had chosen this particular moment to mill about in the hallways. Darting around the students, she finally found her way to the dungeon levels of the castle. Even the usually subdued corridors down here were busy. Bella blew out a sigh of frustration as she weaved among the students as quickly as she could. She could see Cam standing near the spot where they invariably met up after class. He towered over much of the crowd which made finding him that much easier. She was unable to stifle the wide grin that swept over her face at the sight of him. As she got to his side, she raised herself up on her tip toes and planted a tender kiss along his jawline. She rest her cheek against his for a moment as her lips brushed his ear. "We need to talk. Now." Her whisper was barely more than a breath. As she pulled back, she allowed a barely subdued grin to colour her face. Her brown eyes sparkled with the excitement as they met his. She flashed a winning smile at the boy Cam had been talking to. "Sorry, I'm going to need to steal my fiance away for a bit." Without waiting for a response, she slipped her tiny hand into Cam's and tugged him down the corridor in search of somewhere quiet for them to talk. Finally, she spotted a broom closet. Heaving a sigh, she pulled him along behind her and the duo slipped unnoticed into the dark quiet space. "Lumos." She lit up the small space as she turned to face Cam. There was barely enough room for them and the various cleaning products. Pulling the parchment from her robe pocket, she handed it to Cam. As he began to read the thick paper, she began to talk, her voice was filled with possibility. "I got this just a few minutes ago. Its a notice from Gringotts, an account has been created for Mr and Mrs Cameron Rourke. This account is for any monetary wedding gifts to be deposited in. An account for us to start our happy married life with." She paused, wringing her hands in front of her. "Our families have already made the initial contributions." "Cam, look at the amount that has already been deposited." She was vibrating with the promise of it all. "Think of how long we could survive on that amount alone. It's still months from the wedding by the time we leave, we'll have enough to live comfortably no matter where we have to run to." Edited by Isabella Turcotte, Jun 18 2009, 03:10 AM.

“D’you think I should be worried? I mean, it itches something bloody awful—” “Oi!” Cam cried, a mixture of disgust and horror twisting his features. “Mate. No. I don’t want to hear that. Fucking hell.” This was what he got for conversing with Malcolm. Slytherin’s resident manwhore. It had only been a matter of time before he caught something. Still… Cam really could have gone without hearing about it. Really. “What? Just between us blokes,” Malcolm said defensively, brows furrowed. Cam sent him a very dry stare. “No. Not between us blokes. Between you and Georgina whatsername. Who I’m almost entirely certain gets around more than you do, and if that isn’t saying something, I don’t know what is. Which means you should have known better.” Malcolm didn’t appear to be listening. He kept shifting on his feet, looking distinctly uncomfortable. “Seriously, mate, I think I might be dying. If it falls off—” “Fuck's sake!” Bella could not have arrived at a more perfect time. Cam had been moments away from stalking off down the corridor when he felt her hand on his arm and her soft lips on his jaw. He almost breathed a sigh of relief, welcoming the distraction her whisper provided. "We need to talk. Now." She pulled back and Cam met her sparkling gaze with a somewhat curious one of his own, wondering what had her so excited all of a sudden. In the meantime, she’d turned her gaze on Malcolm, flashing the distressed boy a wide, charming smile. "Sorry, I'm going to need to steal my fiancé away for a bit." And without waiting for a response, she took Cam’s hand, tugging him off in the opposite direction, which he really had no objections to whatsoever. Anything to get away from that bloody awful conversation. And he couldn’t deny feeling intrigued by Bella’s odd behavior and the fact that she clearly had something big to tell him. Which she decided to do in a… broom closet? He rose an amused brow at the strange choice, but Bella didn’t even give him time to make a cheeky comment before she dragged him in after her and shut the door behind them. The space was (predictably) quite small, very cramped, and pitch black, smelling somewhat unpleasantly of cleaning supplies and rotting wood. "Lumos,” she said clearly, and they could see again, the wand’s light illuminating the space around them. Cam blinked, squinted, and regained proper sight, watching in confusion as Bella pulled something from her back pocket and handed it over to him. A letter? He took it and peered down, eyes flying over the ink. "I got this just a few minutes ago,” Bella spoke up as he continued to read, her voice barely able to contain her giddiness. “It’s a notice from Gringotts, an account has been created for Mr. and Mrs. Cameron Rourke. This account is for any monetary wedding gifts to be deposited in. An account for us to start our happy married life with." Cam briefly glanced up, eyes wide as her words sank in. She wrung her hands together and looked at him with eager excitement. "Our families have already made the initial contributions." His stare flew back to the heavy parchment and, sure enough, there it was. The amount was printed neatly, right there, on paper. Solid proof it was real. His heart swelled. "Cam, look at the amount that has already been deposited,” Bella said, a quiet thrill in her low tone. And he did. It was all he could look at. He couldn’t have torn his eyes away if he tried. "Think of how long we could survive on that amount alone. It's still months from the wedding by the time we leave, we'll have enough to live comfortably no matter where we have to run to." He couldn’t believe it. It was really going to happen. Sure, he’d known ever since their talk in the Great Hall that they were both serious about this, but this… this made it real. The weight of the parchment in his hands felt good. Absurdly good. It was really going to happen. His smile grew. And grew. And then he laughed. A low, warm sound that came from the depths of his stomach. Finally, he looked up, meeting her glittering brown stare with his, and without hesitating he wrapped his arms around her waist and lifted her in an enormous hug. By the time he set her back down, he was beaming. “This is brilliant. This is brilliant, Bella.” His heart pounded excitedly in his chest. A loose smile caught his lips and he slumped back against the wooden shelves as his gaze looked off to the approaching future. It was really happening. And it was going to work. They just had to survive until graduation now. Which would be easy. Barring any unforeseen disasters, of course. |

A burst of excited giggles erupted from Bella as Cam laughed lifted her in a tight embrace. Her own arms slipped around his neck. Things were finally going their way. Since that fateful day in the Great Hall where they decided to take control of their own future, she'd been plagued with thoughts of the many problems that they'd face once they left the safety of Hogwarts. The top among them was the financial burden they'd have to overcome. It would be a struggle, even with sporadic work that they both be able to find, every knut they'd make would have to go toward shelter and food. This simple piece of parchment changed things immensely. “This is brilliant. This is brilliant, Bella.” Cam set her back on her feet and she beamed up at him. Her own excitement was only fueled by the exhilaration she could see reflected in his smiling face. As Cam leaned back against the shelves behind them, she plucked the parchment from his hand and folded with care before tucking it back into her pocket. "Freedom," The word escaped her parted lips like a sigh, she closed her eyes for a moment and reveled in the sound of it hanging in the air. Her face filled with look pure euphoria. Never had a word held such promise and hope. "Not exactly the ideal location for such wonderful news, but I had to be sure we wouldn't be overheard." She sighed again while looking around the dingy little closet. She chuckled lightly, "C'mon let's head to the kitchens, we can nick something sinfully sweet and celebrate our future." Bella took a single step to reach the door and turned the knob, she was very still and utterly silent for few moment before turning to Cam once more. Her smile had faltered as she lifted her bewildered eyes up at him and held up her hand, palm up, to reveal the brass handle in her hand. "Bugger" She muttered as she dropped the handle to the stone floor with a clatter and whirled around to push ineffectually on the door. It refused to budge. She bang her closed fist on the solid wooden door. Suddenly aware of how quiet things had become on the other side of the door, Bella glanced at her watch. It was dinner time. The hallways had been busy only a few moments before were now likely empty. "Bloody Hell," She muttered and then raised her voice. "Hello? Is someone out there? Anyone? Open this door! We're trapped in here! HELLO?" |

Dani crammed the rest of her hastily grabbed sandwich into her mouth, licking the tips of her fingers as she walked down the corridor at a brisk pace. Once again, she was missing dinner to tutor some unfortunate Hufflepuff who was about to fail Potions. Not that Dani minded all that much, if she were to be honest. Sitting awkwardly at a table full of students watching you eat had never been Dani’s ideal setting for consuming her food. She had really put in an effort when she first started here. After all, what better way to get to know people? Instead, she got to know the insides of their mouths. There seemed to be a considerable lack of etiquette and manners within the student population. Besides, she often lost her appetite when she would accidentally glance up from her plate long enough to watch boys generously spraying their half-eaten food all over the poor souls next to them. So, rather than starve to death, Dani opted for the next best thing. Needless to say, a quick bite that she could scarf down in a hallway somewhere was much preferable to engaging in the Hogwarts feasting ritual. More than likely much safer as well. Hefting her bag more securely over her shoulder, she barely noticed as the halls emptied, until it was just her weaving her way through the dungeons, checking her watch every few minutes and realizing she was most likely going to be late. If that boy had just moved out of her way so she could have grabbed her sandwich quicker… No. Her tardiness was her own fault for not just asking him to move. It was as she was brooding on this that a sudden noise erupted to her right. Jumping nearly five feet in the air and sucking in a huge breath sharply, Dani found herself on the exact opposite side of the corridor, staring with wide, frightened eyes at… a door. Her hand pressed to her chest, feeling her pounding heart through the pale skin. Slowly, the alarm dissipated from her small frame, replaced by wariness and curiosity. It was obvious that someone had trapped themselves in the broom closet, even without the screams for help that continued to emit from behind the closed door. Dani frowned, annoyance crossing her features at having been scared so thoroughly because some dolt had wondered into the closet that everybody knew locked from the outside. A quick check of her watch told her she was now two minutes late. She bit her bottom lip, lines appearing in her forehead as she contemplated what to do. Dani could pretend as though she had never heard (though the wails could have given a banshee a run for its money) and only be slightly late for her session. Besides, it would serve the dimwit right. She had to pass by here anyways after her lesson was done. If they were still in there, she could always let them out then. Dani sighed as she moved forward, hand stretching out for the doorknob. It had never really been a question. More just entertaining notions of what she could do, but never would. Her conscience demanded she helped. Flinching at a particularly aggressive knock on the door, Dani’s slender hand closed around the handle. “Oi!” she exclaimed, her voice laced with more irritation than she would ever have used on the person if they had not been out of her sight and more than likely unable to hear her. “Just hold on for a sec, will you?” She gave a hard tug on the knob, causing the door to slowly start to open. Dani felt dread descend on her suddenly as she waited to see who she would find once it had opened all the way. Merlin help her if she had interrupted some erotic lovers rendezvous |

Damn. Bugger. Shit. Fuck. It was all Silas could think as he weaved quickly through the corridor. His long legs carried him fast and he thanked the Gods that they had not blessed his sister with such length. She was definitely half a hallway behind him, trailing like a beagle; her wand held out in front of her very red, angry face. How was he supposed to know that cornering the Hogwarts brute would result in his sister being humiliated in front of all her little friends? He couldn't possibly know that! She was just being emotional. A girl. Besides, Lachlan's a jerk; Saoirse should know better. He took a quick dive to the left, narrowly avoiding a... flying shoe? Silas took a moment to pause and turn back toward his little sister; he raised his eyebrow, plainly mocking her. "Really? A shoe? C'mon, you can-" And, she did. Her wand whipped around her head and then pointed at his torso. The bright yellow light hit him fast, toppling him into the wall behind him. He loathed himself for teaching her when she was far too young. He wanted her to defend herself. Not... kill him! She seemed to be on a rampage, knocking into students, hexing them out of her way. Or maybe he was hallucinating from all the heavy breathing and extra oxygen he was bringing in. She was starting to look funny; like fireworks or... a monster. She was going to kill him! He jumped away from the wall as she approached him. His wand was drawn and he tried not to get too defensive; he didn't want to hurt her at all. But, he knew when he had to protect his own arse. "Saoirse, just bloody listen to reason! Look, if you really want to be with someone, get a pet. They're loyal and won't... well, you know." He heard her screech and then did the only logical thing... ran again. Down the hallway, almost to the end, he spotted the broom closet he used as a hide away. There was someone trying to open it, playing with the handle. His sister was running again. She was almost within distance to really strike a blow. Only several feet separated them. The girl in front of the broom closet wasn't moving. She yelled at the door. Silas didn't have time. He had to get in, lock himself in. The girl had the door open. She was just standing there. He could get in; they were both thin enough to fit in the small crack she made. He grabbed the girl's wrist, intent on not allowing his sister to be a murderer, and yanked her against him, side stepped the door and squeezed in between them into the broom closet. The girl felt familiar, thin, tiny... but he didn't dwell on it. His sister's angry hiss at his elusiveness filled his ears. He had to lock the door. Silas twisted his wand in front of himself, nearly prodding the girl in his arms and then breathed out deep when he heard the click of the lock on the door. Physically relaxing, he relinquished his hold on the girl and ran his free hand through his knotted hair. "Sorry," he muttered to her, finally looking up from the doorknob. Damn. Bugger. Shit. Fuck. It was all he could think when his eyes met that very awkward girl he had hidden in the shadows with. And then he heard two more sets of vocals. His eyes danced over the pretty, if not furious, features of Isabella and the exasperated face of Cameron. Silas smiled sheepishly and ignited his wand with a nonverbal Lumos spell. His sister kicked the broom closet door. "Well," his voice was guarded as he reigned in his amusement and heavy breathing. "Isn't this cozy." |

“Oi! Just hold on for a sec, will you?” An exasperated female voice called out from the other side of the door. Bella scowled at the tone. Honestly, how much bother could it be to open a bloody door? The faint light from the dimly lit corridor started to peak through the slowly opening door. A door in serious disrepair. For a school as famous as Hogwarts, this type of neglect was simply unacceptable. Bella's back stiffened slightly with indignation as she made the decision to go to the headmaster's office straight away and complain about this. Although complaining to Reynolds would require an explanation as to why she and Cam were in there in the first place. It wasn't as if she could say 'Well sir, we needed a place to discuss a secret plan to run away from our families and responsibilities. Oh yes, and we are planning on stealing a whole boat load of money from the people being generous for our wedding that will, incidentally, never happen.' She hesitated for only a moment. It's a bloody broom closet, obviously she'd say that she needed a broom. At the exact same moment that Cam needed a broom. With the door shut. Bugger this. Reynolds didn't need to know anything more than the door was broken and repairs should be made immediately. She lifted a hand up to push the door open further. Taking one step forward to leave the cramped smelly broom closet, something large collided with her. Bella stumbled backwards crashing into Cam and the shelving he had been leaning against. To stop herself from tumbling to the hard stone floor she instinctively reached out to grab hold of a shelf or anything. She caught hold of Cam's arm and managed to stay right side up. A wave of anger washed over her. Generally, Bella was an even tempered girl but the unmitigated gall of someone shoving her around was enough to cause her temper to rear its ugly head. She opened her mouth to berate the heathens who'd collided with her when she heard it. Click The darkness surrounded them once again as the door was shut tight. The very door that was missing a doorknob. Fuck. A soft light of a lumos spell illuminated the closet once again. She hadn't heard the incantation for it so it must have been a non verbal casting. If she weren't so completely furious, she may have been impressed. She squinted against the light and scowled at the newest occupants of the cramped closet.Immediately she recognized Silas Matthews holding his wand to light up the space but the petite Ravenclaw girl was someone she'd never seen before. Bella was something of a social butterfly and she thought she knew almost everyone in the school. Squeezing between the two people who'd just managed to trap them in here once again, Bella reached up to place a hand on Silas' chest and pushed him out of the way so she could get to the door. He'd always been an ass to her despite her efforts to be civil. And in the last two minutes, her feelings for her housemate had deteriorated even further. She put her weight into shoving at the tightly closed door. It refused to budge. Whirling around, she turned her narrowed green eyes to Silas and the girl. "Exactly which part of 'open the door, we're trapped' was too difficult to grasp?" Her sharp tone filled the small space as she folded her arms angrily over her chest. "Were you too wrapped up in the excitement of a little snogging session to hear us shouting? We'd be happy to give you some privacy however you've locked us in!" |

He knew he’d spoken too bloody soon. Cam could only stare blankly down at the doorknob in Bella’s open hand, feeling his elation dimming with astonishing rapidity. It figured, really. Too many good things had been happening lately. A bad one was bound to come around sooner or later. “Alright, hold on, it’s not the end of the world,” he said, trying to be the voice of reason in a situation that really wasn’t that alarming when given a bit of thought. “We just need to get someone to let us out.” Bella was way ahead of him, already banging on the door and calling out to anyone who might have been passing by. Thankfully, they didn’t have to wait long before someone finally responded. “Oi! Just hold on for a sec, will you?” came an irritated voice from the other side of the door. Cam’s relief was very quickly stunted by the emergence of another feeling entirely. He knew that voice. Sounded immensely familiar, anyway. He studied the door more intently as his brows knitted together, eager to see whom exactly the voice belonged to. Only, the next thing he was aware of, after the door had slowly begun to open, was Bella being shoved violently into him as the small space briefly filled with light only to grow dark again barely a moment after. He steadied her, gripping her waist and wincing when the shelves behind him dug into his back. And after the disorientation wore off, Cam realized that the closet had just inexplicably gained two more occupants. Occupants he wasn’t able to identify until the closet filled with light. When it did, his green stare immediately fell upon the familiar and sheepishly grinning face of Silas Matthews. “Well," the dark-haired boy said. "Isn’t this cozy.” It wasn’t, actually, there was barely room enough for two people, let alone four, and what the hell was going on anyway? And what was that banging noise? Cam's attention fixed on the door again, yet to move to the still-unidentified person with whom Silas had barged in here with. Not until Bella ripped herself from his grasp and shoved her way in between the other two occupants of the closet did he finally do so, and even then it was involuntary. Sort of difficult not to notice someone when they stumble straight into you. Instinctively, he steadied her – for it was a her – but any and all movement from him grew quite frozen when he finally settled his gaze on her face. “You,” he stated quietly, surprise clear upon his features. Of all the places he’d expected to see the strange Ravenclaw girl he’d met in the library again, a cramped broom closet most certainly hadn’t been one of them. He hadn’t seen even a glimpse of her since that day, actually, so it was especially unexpected. And only the sound of Bella’s angry tirade brought him back to the present. “—too wrapped up in the excitement of a little snogging session to hear us shouting? We'd be happy to give you some privacy however you've locked us in!" Cam tore his gaze from Vivian’s, moving it first to Bella, who looked about ready to kill someone, then to Silas. Another loud bang hit the door from the outside, followed almost immediately by a muffled and vaguely familiar sort of shouting. When he realized why it sounded so familiar, Cam’s shoulders sagged in dejection as he once again swiveled a very exasperated gaze on his friend. “Fuck’s sake, Silas, you didn’t…” Another bang. Clear confirmation if ever there was one. Cam nearly groaned. “What the hell did you do this time?” |

Next time she was just going to be a heartless bitch and pass the closet door while emitting an extremely cruel chuckle, Dani reflected as she was unceremoniously thrown into the tiny room and shoved into what felt to be twenty people and a broom. Even though she had been the one tossed around like a rag doll, Dani seemed to be the first one to emerge from disorientation. Already, her quick mind had begun taking stock of the various objects around her. Upon closer inspection of her dark surroundings, Dani counted three people, the slender shadow belonging to a female, while the two larger ones were obviously males. Which would make the broom… Revulsion caused her face to scrunch, even as she turned in utter dread to locate the object currently poking into her lower back. Thank the Merlin, it was indeed the handle of a broomstick. An actual broomstick, made of wood. She needed to get out of here now. There was a loud thump from the other side of the door, as though an enormous beast was trying to crush the wood into smithereens. Maybe she could stay a while after all. “Sorry,” the largest male, the one who was the cause of her less than pleasing situation addressed her. She merely looked up with wide, irritated eyes at his tall, newly lit form, feeling a jolt of recognition as her gaze surveyed his frame. “Of course,” she muttered to herself in bitter exasperation. You’d think Merlin would have taken pity on her, but no, he seemed to enjoy tormenting frail little her, while leaving obnoxious, large him very much alone. Figured. In all honesty, she wasn’t that surprised. It was almost as though she had known the moment his hand had closed about her thin wrist. Perhaps she had, actually, since if anybody was going to get her locked in a broom closet with two other people, it would be him. Speaking of two other people… Dani turned wary eyes on the closet’s two other occupants. The glow from her kidnapper’s wand illuminated two very familiar, highly unwelcome faces. Cameron Rourke and Isabella Turcotte. She must have somehow seriously offended Merlin. This was just downright cruel. “Well, isn’t this cozy,” came the cautious voice from above her. Dani couldn’t have disagreed more. Cozy? She may as well have been trying to sleep on a cactus. The face Isabella was currently sporting seemed to whole-heartedly agree with this notion, though if the slightly pinched addition to her expression was anything to go by, Dani would claim that Isabella had attempted to sit on one. As if she had read her thoughts, Isabella suddenly moved, shunting Dani into Cam as she made her way to the door. She felt a warm pair of hands reach out and grab her. At this rate, she was going to start charging a dollar every time somebody touched her. By the time she left here, she’d be an heiress for sure. Even this humorous thought did little to lighten her mood as Cam’s eyes fell on her, and, much to her dismay, recognized the girl he currently held. “You,” said aloud, face clearly revealing his surprise. For her part, Dani’s eyes closed briefly. “Me,” she responded in dejected defeat. All the effort to avoid him for the past few weeks, all the sneaking through the shadows, the near heart attacks when she would round a corner and he would be there, all of it had been shattered by one boys unfortunate timing. “…wrapped up in the excitement of a little snogging session to hear us shouting? We'd be happy to give you some privacy however you've locked us in!" Bella’s yelling redirected Dani’s attention to the other occupants of the cupboard they were now all stuck in. It took a moment for her words to register, seeing as she had missed the first part, but once they had, Dani was unable to keep herself silent. “Snogging?!” she repeated in stunned outrage, her expression a mixture of indignance and horror. Perhaps if that wasn’t what you two were doing in the first place… No matter how dire her situation was, how freely words had left her lips mere minutes before, she could not voice that particular thought aloud. Instead, she merely continued to look affronted, hoping they would all just forget about her existence for the rest of the time she was stuck in this hell. “Fuck’s sake, Silas, you didn’t…” Cam broke in with a comment directed at her abductor. Fancy that, it actually seemed to be working. And she had finally learned the boy’s name. Silas. A rare, strange name. It suited him, she decided. Dani turned curious eyes towards the door, straining to hear more than just the pounding on the door, as though it were actually possible to figure out who was creating them. “What the hell did you do this time?” Cam spoke again. Good. Now if she could just sidle her way over to a corner, perhaps she would be able to fade into the background… |

Right. Perhaps cozy had been a bit of an overstatement. Silas' grin faltered, only minutely, as he took in the faces of his abductees. In the space of two minutes, he had managed to piss off four people. And Maher was probably going to beat his face in, too. Whoopie. His shoulders bowed slightly. Maybe he would enchant the broom closet and they could all live happily ever after inside of it. If they all didn't behead him first. "Snogging!" he startled when the small girl shouted back at Bella, surprising him with the high volume of her voice. The sheer disgust insulted him. Like it was a bad thing to be snogging in a broom closet. Prude, he remembered. But then, the way that Cam's hand was at her waist... he brought his eyes back to the face of his Slytherin friend and pouted his bottom lip in contemplation. Hopefully Bella wouldn't notice the touch; she might blow her last fuse. Did they know each other, too? Was she making rounds on driving all the Slytherin men insane with her awkwardness? His gaze drifted to her face and he studied it only for a second before deciding that she was harmless; too tiny to cause any real damage to anyone. Maybe they were one of those weird triad things he had read about in Wicked Witches... That would explain why Bella was so upset when she thought that he and the usually mute girl were going to snog in the closet. Ah, it was starting to make sense! He slowly dragged his eyes to Bella's angry face, the way she tried to control the situation - and failed - was almost endearing. He was going to apologize for her presumptuousness, but his focus was now on the door - Jesus, his sister was trying to kill them! Well, him... but now they were all in it together, because he would take a human shield if necessary. Saoirse's banging grew more insistent. Fuck. "Fuck's sake, Silas, you didn't. What the hell did you do this time?" The hesitant question hung in the air a bit as Silas caught his friend's eyes. His hand had been removed from the girl's waist and she was now trying to sink through the wall. He couldn't help the guilty smirk that clung to his lips. Before he could open his mouth to speak, his sister's voice rang into the closet. "I HOPE LACHLAN TEARS YOUR SODDING HEAD OFF!" A small pause and what sounded like a chimaera charging the door, and then, "YOU HAVE TO COME OUT SOMETIME, YOU FOUL GIT!" And then the banging ceased... and her heavy, clunking, booted feet could be heard echoing off of the walls of the corridor, getting quieter as she presumably got further away. Thank Merlin for minor miracles. Well, that solved that. No need to ruin anyone's shagging time. Silas' eyes narrowed as his dimpled grin grew. "I suppose that she doesn't like my method of protecting her virtue," he said with a wink to Cam. He turned his head to face Bella again - Gods, he would need some knotgrass to alleviate the pain he was starting to feel from moving his head around so much. And then he realized why his Slytherin comrads were so antsy. The doorknob rested in Bella's hand, and if she wasn't careful, she was going to crush it to dust. Hmm. Even though his frame was a giant six foot, four inches, he felt himself shrink under everyone's stares. Anger radiated from Bella. Annoyance from Cam. And that weird girl who was smothering the wall... she seemed the safest option. He shuffled around and brought himself to full height next to her, his back pressed against the wall. "Maybe you should tell them we're not shagging... they seem pretty pissed that you're cheating on them," he whispered to her through the corner of his mouth, only loud enough for her to hear. |

Locked in damp, smelly crowded broom closet with her faux fiancee, his arrogant prat of a friend and some terrified girl was almost more than Bella could handle. She was barely keeping her temper under control. And yes, she really was restraining her anger - Not a single person had been hexed, now had they? Not yet anyway. Her eyes moved instinctively to Cam. If anyone would get them out of this situation, it would be her betrothed. He was much better than keeping his cool in these types of situations. (Not that they made it a habit of getting locked in broom closets.) His attention was elsewhere however, the wafer thin girl had wasted no time in tossing herself at the good looking Slytherin. Cam's hand rest lightly at her waist as she leaned in against him, batting those abnormally large eyes at him in an obvious adoration. Bella's eyes narrowed. What sort of harlot flings themselves at a man when his soon-to-be wife is standing right there? Why, it was just plain rude! The soon-to-be wife thing was all a sham but there was no way that truncated trollop could know that. And really Cameron should know better. This is exactly the type of behaviour they could not indulge in. Bella could care less if Cam was interested in another girl. Though they were engaged, she had never loved him in that way before. However, it was only a few days ago that she'd had to endure yet another of his tiresome speeches about how they had to keep up appearances until graduation. Like she didn't already know that. And now he was the one with a tiny tart in his arms. Before Bella could speak, the waif like 'Claw shuffled close to the wall and apparently began working on her impression of a wallflower. Perhaps she'd remembered that Cam's girlfriend stood close by. Bella wasted no time in reminding the girl who exactly belonged in Cameron's arms, at least til graduation. She pushed past Silas once more and tucked herself under Cam's arm. Her own hand slipped up to rest on his flat stomach. She angled her body against his in a way that hinted at the intimacy of their relationship. With a saccharin sweet smile, Bella let her eyes fall on the little Ravenclaw. "I thought I knew everyone in this school, but I don't think we've had the pleasure. I'm Bella and this handsome bloke," She flashed a coy little grin to Cam, "is my fiance Cam." A heartbeat after the words left her mouth, an ungodly bellow came from the other side of the now locked door. "I HOPE LACHLAN TEARS YOUR SODDING HEAD OFF! YOU HAVE TO COME OUT SOMETIME, YOU FOUL GIT!" All eyes in the broom closet were now focused on the now grinning git who was really the cause of all this drama. He winked at Cam and quipped, "I suppose that she doesn't like my method of protecting her virtue," An undignified snort of disbelief escaped Bella before she could stop it. Her eyes rolled at the ridiculousness of his statement. Silas Matthews protecting anyone's virtue was just purely absurd. He was exactly the type of boy who took great pleasure in tarnishing the virtues of almost any girl he met. He was exactly the boy most mothers cautioned their daughters against. As if to prove her point, the dark haired Slytherin moved to the little wallflower and spoke softly to her. Bella cocked an eyebrow in disbelief. The little one certainly made the rounds.
