Right here we go. Remember that this is very basic, and doesn't cover everything you need to know. If you want to know how to do something specific, your best bet is to google it. Ok, so to start off, load up the program, and click start from scratch. You should get a dialogue box asking for more info. If you want to follow this tutorial exactly, make sure your box says the same as mine. ![]() You should end up with this: ![]() Go here and copy this image (right-click>copy) Then go back to PS and press Ctrl+V (paste). The image will appear thus: ![]() You should have the 'Move' tool selected already by default. You should see little white boxes in the corner of your pasted image, click on the bottom-right corner and drag to resize the image. Click on drag on the bulk of the image to move it about. ![]() Click the green tick to confirm the change, and you should end up with something like this. Scroll down to the next post for part 2. ![]() |

Use the polygonal selection tool (You can see it highlighted in the image) to draw around the darth vader character.![]() Go to Select>Inverse. this will select everything in the image except darth vader. ![]() Now hit the delete key to get rid of the others. Go here to get the image of tatooine. Copy it, then paste it into PS as before. ![]() In the bottom right of the screen, you should see an area called "Layers". Go here, and click and drag the tatooine layer underneath the vader one. ![]() Use the move tool to re-size and position the background, remembering to click the green tick when you are done. ![]() Select the Layer containing the darth vader image, and then use the move tool to re-size and position vader so he is more prominent. when you are done, confirm the selection. ![]() Continue on to part 3 for more |

Ok, go here to get the death star image. Then copy/paste it into PS.![]() This time, drag the death star layer to the middle, so vader appears over the top of it. ![]() Just underneath the word 'Layers' you should see a drop-down box saying "normal'. click this, then choose 'screen' from the list. This is a great tool for images with matte-black backgrounds, as it makes all black transparent. This will also make the death star partially transparent. In this image, I've moved the death star over the top of the large moon. ![]() Go here and copy/paste the star wars logo image into PS. ![]() Hold down on the Eraser tool, and select 'Magic Eraser'. Then left click on the white part of the image to delete them. You should be left with this: ![]() In the 'Layers' section, click on 'Opacity' and lower it down a bit. I've set mine to 80. ![]() Select the normal Eraser by holding down on the tool again, and carefully erase away at the edges of the logo. You will need to practice with this a bit, so you may want to leave it out for now. ![]() Go to Layer>Flatten Image. This will condense all layers into one. ![]() Go to enhance>Colour Variations ![]() Continue to part 4 for more. |

Play about with the settings here to modify the colours in the image. I darkened the midtones twice and lightened the highlights once.![]() This is what the image looks like now. ![]() Save the image by going to File>Save. make sure you change the format to JPEG. )This screen will look different on your windows machine. ![]() Set the image quality in the box that comes up. ![]() TADA YOU ARE DONE |
