The New Zealand Warriors have kept their perfect 2008 NRL home record intact, overcoming the Canterbury Bulldogs 36-16.

The Warriors raced out to a 10-0 lead in as many minutes when wingers Patrick Ah Van and Manu Vatuvei both crossed the line.

It could've been six more had a brilliant tackle from Ben Roberts not denied Brent Tate when he was over the line.

That save proved the turning point for the Bulldogs in the first half and they hit back with two tries to lead 12-10 at halftime.

Firstly a Sonny Bill Williams-inspired break led to a Luke Patten four-pointer, then Roberts waltzed through a leak in the home side's defence.

It was all the Bulldogs in the early running of the second half but the Warriors were more decisive when presented with try-scoring opportunities.

Vatuvei notched his third double of the year, Sonny Fai scored his first in Warriors colours and Lance Hohaia and Ruben Wiki also got across the line.

A try to Heka Nanai was all the Bulldogs had to show for their second-half efforts as they failed to bounce back from last week's 12-40 hiding by the Roosters

The Warriors recorded their third home win of the season to move into the NRL's top eight with a resounding 36-16 triumph over the Bulldogs in Auckland on Sunday afternoon.

Despite trailing 12-10 at the break, the hosts stormed home with four second-half tries to blast their opponents off the turf at their Mt Smart Stadium fortress.

Manu Vatuvei scored either side of the interval and made two line breaks, while full-back Lance Hohaia capped an industrious performance of 214 running metres with a late four-pointer.

Dejected Kiwi international Sonny Bill Williams said the Bulldogs were outclassed by the rampant Warriors attack in the second half.

"I was very disappointed, it is always good to come back here but the Warriors were just to good for us," Williams said.

"We had a lot of possession early in the second half we couldn't convert, and to the Warriors' credit they came back and just steamrolled us.

"Each week I look forward to playing footy, everything off the field is settled now and I'm just trying to play consistent footy."

The Bulldogs came back into the match after a poor start to the first-half when captain Andrew Ryan broke away and passed to full-back Luke Patten, who raced away to score.

Roberts then forced his way over and Hazem El Masri's conversion put the visitors in front 12-10 at the break.

But Heka Nanai's lone try was all the Bulldogs could muster in the second half as the Warriors ran in four times through Vatuvei, Hohaia, Sonny Fai and skipper Ruben Wiki.

The Warriors' third home win follows previous successes against the Knights and the Eels, but the New Zealanders face a tough fortnight on the road in Queensland against the Cowboys and the Titans. Warriors: 36 (M Vatuvei 2, P Ah Van, R Wiki, L Hohai, S Fai tries; M Witt 5 conversions, penalty goal)Bulldogs: 16 (L Patten, B Roberts, H Nanai tries; H El Masri 2 conversions)

It was a good game to watch, Manu Vatuvei had a good game, as did some of the other warriors.
Sonny bill performed well for the bulldogs, and it was close until the warriors got a healthy lead, and the doggies couldn't come back.
