FabledAll's Fair in Love and War
Welcome to Fabled. Just a warning, this RP is probably going to be mature-ish, as it will be following the interactions of many different races/species within this world. The encounters will range from inter-species relationships (<3!) to all out wars between races. Please remember the rules when participating. All content must be PG-13. If you wish to go beyond that, please take it to PM, or even IM. You have been warned.

Where in the world...?!
So... what is this world, right? Well, it's a hodgepodge of climates and environments, scattered over a large planet full of wonderful creatures.

Posted Image

Ok, so the map is pretty straight forward, I would think. But you may have noticed that only four races have defined locations. The reason for this is that the other races are found everywhere, there is no defined location for them. The only other race I have not defined, but is not found everywhere is Nereids, but that should be common sense. They are found wherever water is.

A few explanations: The Fae are located in a dark, gloomy yet sunny and cheerful forest, called Faengle. The Draconians are situated along a stretch of mountains. The Mammalians are situated in a forested area. Icarians are situated along the coastline where Icarus fell. These areas are the homeland of their individual races. This does not mean, however, that you will not encounter a individual of that race outside of it's area.

What... are you?!
So, just what are you? Well, you can be one of any number of races. You can even have more than one character, though try to keep it to a maximum of 3 or 4. There's lots of races to chose from, each one wonderful in it's own way.

Humans

One of the most persistent races, and one that is common over all of the world. Humans excel at spreading themselves across the planet, adapting to different ecosystems, and just plain survival.
The Legend
The humans have many different accounts of how they came to be, but all have a few key points in common. One omnipotent being, which they call God, created the world, and the humans. They believe that they are God's chosen to occupy the planet, and to bring the world to utopia. Unfortunately, humans often war among themselves, and with the other races.

Icarians

These colourful beings can be found almost anywhere, but most build their homes where their race was said to have sprung from. Icarians' are much like humans in appearance except for the feathers growing among their hair, the feathered forearms and their tail plumage. These creatures excel at flight, but have a tendency to fly at dangerously high altitudes. Sometimes to their own peril.
The Legend
A young man named Icarus was imprisoned, along with his father, in Tartarus. His father devised a way to make wings of roc feathers and candle wax, so they could escape. When the wings were ready, his father warned him not to go too high, or the heat of the sun would melt the wax away. Once they were flying, Icarus loved the sensation so much he forgot his father's warning and went higher and higher. The sun melted the wax, and Icarus plummeted into the water below. Luckily he did not die, but washed up on the shore. He was near death, but people who lived near the shore nursed him back to health. When he awoke, it was to a great surprise. The melted wax had solidified during his rapid fall into the frigid waters, and the feathers where stuck to the skin of his forearms. His father thought he had died, and so had went on, so Icarus was forgotten by his own people, and lived a long life there where he had fallen. He ended up begetting a race of feathered humanoids upon a female human of the area. Thus, the Icarians were born.

Vympyri

These creatures of the dark seduce humans and feed upon their lifeforce, via their blood. They appear human, but for their pale skin, fangs, and almost Fae-like beauty. Their ability to use their blood to form weapons and the lengthening of their nails into claws enable them to fight off their enemies and long time rivals, the Werelings.
The Legend
Dead men tell no tales

Skinwalker

These creatures gave up their humanity a long time ago. Now they consume the flesh of humans in ritualistic cannibalism, and work shamanistic magic to shapeshift. Their shapeshifting ability lets them take on the appearance of any animal, but only if they have it's skin. They wear the skin to become the animal. They can also do the same with an individual from any of the other races. It is not unusual to hear of a killing among one of the races, where the persons skin was taken. With the skin, they take on the appearance of that person, but also their abilities. Skinwalkers live in clans, with an hierarchy much like an native indian tribes'. There is the Chief and Chieftess, who are the leaders, the warriors and their families. The Chief, however, must consult with the shaman, or high-shaman, to get guidance from their Gods.
The Legend
The Skinwalkers legend comes from a part of the Humans' legend. In the Humans' Bible, there is a part that talks of a pair of brothers, Abel and Kain. In the Skinwalker legend, Abel and Kain were out in the wilderness, when Kain was told to kill his brother by a higher power. Kain did so, and to cover up the murder, he chopped up his brother and ate him while he was out in the wilderness. When he returned home by himself, he told his questioning parents that Abel had been killed and eaten by wolves.

Nereids

These creatures live in the seas, and have been sung in ballads for time immemorial. They come in many varieties, as many as the different species of creatures in the sea. They have webbed hands and feet, or even a tail instead of legs, and are great beauties.
The Legend
No one really knows much of the Nereid lore. There are too many inconsistencies to piece together the real tale, and no actual Nereid will tell you it themselves.

Fae

This race is full of creatures of unbearable beauty, and deadly seduction. They have a immense grasp on Fae magik, which flows through the planet, but is most strongest at Faengle, where they make their home. Fae are humaniod in appearance, and stature (not little tinkerbells, ok), but with pointed ears. They wear a glamour when among other races, especially humans, because their skin glows from their magik. The glamour hides the glow and makes others think that the Fae are human.
The Legend
Not much is know about the Fae. It is said that they traveled to this world from another.

Wereling

These creatures are shapeshifters. More commonly known as therianthropes, these human like creatures can shapeshift into an animal and 'were' form. The animal can be any predator, either of the land, or the skies. Their animal form is as it sounds, them taking on the form of their animal. The were form, however, is more like a mammalian than anything. This man-beast combo is strong and feral, and a deadly opponent.
The Legend
The deity the Werelings call Great Father mated with the moon goddess, Luna, to create their race. After begetting the race, he left Luna to chase after other females. In her anger, Luna cursed the race to lose control when she is strongest, at the full moon.

Gargoyl

These frightful creatures are most often mistaken for either a building decoration, or the popular 'demon' of Human legend. Gargoyls are humanoid in appearance, only with tough leathery skin in stony tones, and large bat-like wings. They also sport small thin tails, usually ending in a spade. Gargoyls are best known for brute strength and a tendency towards dark magiks.
The Legend
N/A

Mammalian

These creatures are humanoid animals. They have the wit of humans, and the instincts of their animal counterparts. They walk and talk as humans do, and have a society system much like humans. There is much variety among this race. Any animal that lives in the world, there is most likely a mammalian of that species.
The Legend
N/A

Draconian

These creatures are the fearsome beast of myth, dragons, put into a humanoid form. They are much like mammalians, only they aren't covered in fur, but with scales, and have horns and bat-like wings.
The Legend
The legends are so old and diverse for these beings, that the tale is long lost.

Nagii

These creatures are seductive and deadly, a cross between humans and snakes. Nagii have the upper body of humans, and the lower body is the long, coiling tail of a snake. Their hands are tipped in claws, and they have forked tongues and fangs which can produce venom.
The Legend
N/A

Cubi

Cubi refer to Incubus and Succubus. These creatures of seduction drain the life force from humans through their lovemaking. Humans have a maddening tendency to get addicted to their lovemaking, eventually dying from the leeching of their life force. Cubi usually appear human, but can take the appearance of anything they wish, and can enter dreams. Since Cubi are demons, they only have one name (no middle or last). They guard it, though, and only use a nickname, or the closest approximation in the human language, because names have power. A sorcerer could use the name to summon the Cubi, for their own dark purposes.

my chara:

Name: Sira Runningpaw

Age: 23

Race: Skinwalker

Appearance: 5'6". Brown hair that reaches mid back, often in braids. Oak brown eyes. Tawny complexion. Fairly lean, and slightly curvy. Usually wears a skirt and blouse, sometimes wears trousers.

Alliance: Skinwalker

History: Born and raised in the Wintermoon clan, daughter to a brave warrior, and a talented shaman. Sira developed her powers earlier, and quicker, the shifting becoming a second nature to her. She quickly rose to the ranks of shaman in her 13th year of life, and ascended to high-shaman at the age of 18, just two years after the death of her mother.

Abilities: Shapeshifting through the use of skins.

Extra Info: Sira is the high-shaman of her clan, the Wintermoon Clan. The skins she possesses are fox, snow leopard, snowy owl, stag, and jackrabbit. Because of her position as high-shaman, the gods gave her the ability to shift between skins without actually physically having the skin in her possession. She still, however, needs to own the skin.

Reed_Lefte

Name: Has everyone call him Pyre and never reveals his true name
Age: That's a secret to him alone
Race: Cubi (Incubus)
Appearance: Can normally be seen as a small child not over six years old with raven hair and orange eyes when he is wandering around town without a meal at his side. Whenever he does have a meal however his look changes to fit whatever the mate's preferences are. Of course in the wild where one can go as they please Pyre does so often taking whichever form he pleases.
Alliance: To him and his self alone
History: Pyre has slipped throughout his existence using his powers of seduction to find a "meal ticket" wherever he goes. Normally only stays as long as he remains entertained. Pyre is admittedly a fickle person only ever thinking of himself and his own personal entertainment. He prefers the finer things in life and hates physical work of any sort besides what he does best. If there is any fighting you can normally catch the Cubi already fleeing the scene or to have a hired bodyguard to act as his meat shield. Beyond these facts though Pyre has kept an astounding amounting of secrecy never being to big of a player in any sort of scene, always preferring to stick to the outskirts.
Abilities: All natural powers for a Cubi
