I'm still new to the concept of online role-playing, so I'd appreciate any advice that anyone would be willing to give to me. I've played D&D a few times with friends, and I've also participated in some with other friends, through chat applications like AIM. That's about all.

It's just like chat, except you make longer posts and really work hard on your quality since your post is on the site forever! You make your post, then wait on others to make a post. Some threads require a character sheet, some don't and encourage you to just jump in with your first post. So take a look around and let us know if we can help at all. If you want to start a practice thread with someone, that is cool, too. We have a whole forum for practice!

I tried to get into a few RP right off to start developing my skill at this. That has worked pretty well. The people on this sight are better than most communities, they won't condemn you to death for being new and inexperienced. If you are looking for a RP that you can fit in with, because it is also hosted by someone new, go to Cries of the Earth in Science Fiction. Anyone is welcome, I will begin the day after we have 4 people on it.
