It was the night’s still air that alerted the girl, the night’s calm quiet and it’s alerted feeling, birds gone silent and crickets fallen mute. A wind ruffled the branches of a near-by leafless tree, brushing across the camp the girl sat in; the fire crackled for a moment in the winds cold embrace. Her gaze rose from the ground to the village a few hundred yards down from the cliff she sat on, shaking her head slowly he sighed and rose to her feet. “Well.” That was all she said before she heard them, the thunder of horses, the thunder of foot soldiers. The in surge of warriors from the east, from beyond the mountains she stood by; they were coming for them after so long, after so many years of solitude. She hurried to the fire and dashed it out by piling snow from the ground onto it, huddling near the back of the mountain wall she watched, the thundering of hooves surrounding her now as they surged through onto the twin trails leading down to her home. “Leave no prisoners!” “Kill all, even women and children, wipe them out for good!” “Take all the treasure you want, they won’t be needing it after this!” The soldier’s voices echoed in her ears as she sat there petrified, huddling in the back of the cave while trembling like a leaf in the winter’s cold without that fire. The valley was lit aflame with screams of terror and death, the girls gaze drifting up to the human sorcerers perched up on the cliff above her to safely cast their spells upon the valley. She rose to his feet and grabbed the blade resting next to her against the wall, walking to her left she stepped into the hidden passage out of the mountain valley, casting a glance back at the burning villages she left like the coward she was; like the sinner against the Tiralo she was. --- The war ravaged land surrounded her as she walked silently away from her ancient home, shaking her head slowly as she walked left on a path towards a known refuge from the war; concealed to the people who wished to harm them. Who wished to destroy them. “Well, I’m on my own now…” The guards stood silent as she passed, eyeing her weaponry and then the girl herself ~Perverts~ The thought echoed through her mind earning a silent chuckle under her breath as she walked fully into the refuge. The refuge was old, mostly forgotten by anyone who didn’t live there. The homes were either small tents or makeshift wooden shacks that often kept more than one family inside, the light from the sun was beginning to rise in the east and children were already on the dirt streets playing around. The merchants slowly shuffled out to small make-shift stores that lined the streets, women had come out to tend to their chores whilst some of the men went out to a near by field. This was all that was left of many races, the many species of the world the humans didn’t like. And even here some humans took refuge, a large city that was filled with the mixed people, generations had been born and generations had died here. This was the city of Aletration, the city of the non-humans and human refugee’s. --- The war has torn many people apart, the human kingdom’s discovery of magic and an invention they called the ‘Canon’ and ’Rifles’ had pushed many Non-humans technology to the brink of extinction. What could armor of leather or cloth stand to the power of the human rifle, what good would stone walls do against the powerful canon? They had fled here to hide, magic concealing away their home, concealing away their hiding place. Sorry for the horrible introduction, not very good at them it seems… Anyway, this story takes place during the human and non-humans ‘civil-war’. Refugee’s armies try to push back the human armies but are often defeated, seeing as the human technology had advanced to greater and more powerful weapons. The story will start out in the Refugee city of Aletration, and more of the plot will be revealed later on after the first 2 or 3 pages of posts; to give people time to get introduced to each-other’s characters. The city of Aletration has 3 districts, these would be the Market, Living Quarters, and the main square. The market is lined with make-shift stalls and some shacks for merchants, however the merchandise is often very pour in quality because of the poor state of the city, no exports can reach them from the other kingdoms seeing as they are in a state of war in their own lands. The other thing about the market is the food is always fresh seeing as there are farms around the city, which a few of the brave farmers out there bring in food they have grown. The living quarters is in a sad state of disrepair, shacks often house more than one family at a time; children often play in the muddy streets and women are often seen working outside and around their homes. The wealth of a family can be seen in the type of home they live in, a small shack with about 4 or 5 families often is a sign of the lower-class. A larger shack with about 2 - 3 families is considered middle class. A home with just one family is the sign of upper class. The main square houses the gates of the city, as well as a large tavern in the middle of the district. This is were all the characters in the Roleplay should end up at, for the plot to be revealed. The tavern is the center of all public relations, council meetings (Not much of a council, eh.), and general conversation. The people of Aletration: The races of Aletration can range from human to anything thought of, but there are some limits on what is allowed and disallowed from the city. Most of the city consists of Were-folk, humans, elves, Tiralo (A vampire-human hybrid, does not need blood to survive and the only trait they have of the vampires is their ivory white fangs). And I’m to lazy to think of other races, so if you want to play another race; pm me about it and I’ll tell you if it’s good *nods* Were-folk - These are not just werewolves, they can be anything ranging from wolves to birds, just depends on your choice of what your character is a cross with. I’m not good at these types of things so, I will give it a shot. If it doesn’t work out, then… Meh. Character Profile: Name: Age: Race: Appearance: (Pic is fine): Were-form: (Only for were-folk)(Pic is fine): Animal form: (Only for were-folk) (Pic is fine): Personality: Weapon of choice: Abilities(I.E spells, etc.): Reason for being in Aletration: Short history: (Optional) Extra: Riel's profile: Name: Riel Age: 20 Race: Tiralo Gender: Female Appearance: Riel stands at a small 5’ 3”, she is underweight but her body doesn’t show it. She’s also very strong, but for some reason her body doesn’t show it as well. She wears a black mask around her face, it covers her lower face and her left eye. Riel’s hair is an orange like color, red strips run through it from the bangs to shoulders. Her hair covers a short brow and black eyes which contain a white pupil. Her lips are a natural black, ivory white fangs rest gently against her lower lip from the top of her mouth. An ancient rune covers her right eye, it glows with an odd yellow light when she becomes angry… Around her neck she wears a rune made of yellow Topaz; it is a symbol of wind and light, Riel’s dominant element. She wears a loose black linen tunic, bound by a belt of ragged rope at the waist and wrists. She has several pouches tied to the belt; they contain her Needles(Explained Later), herbs, poisons, and dried rations. Over the tunic she wears a black leather chest piece, ancient runes elegantly run across the neck protection and chest. The leather is very ancient, dating back to Riel’s Great Grandfather, the leather bindings are newly made from a different leather for the old ones had snapped during a training regiment. Riel wears shoulder pads made from the same leather as her chest armor, there are two segments to it; The top overlaps the second in an arc, it spans out to 1” from her shoulder; The lower piece is in an arc as well, extending ½” from her shoulder. The pads are bound by light brown leather to the chest piece, the leather straps are new as well. Riel wears black leather leggings that have plate armor forged onto where the knee caps and shins are, the plate is surprisingly light for its appearance. The plate is held together by leather straps as well, it is flexible as is the leather; ancient runes are imbued within the plate for increased speed and agility. The leather seems to be ‘younger’; as if it was made yesterday. But the fact is, the leggings are older than the chest and shoulder pads. A light brown strap of leather snakes its way across Riel’s chest, on the back it holds a blackened quiver with elegant runes running across the opening. In the quiver several black arrows are held, the tips made of Dragon Scales and bright yellow Topaz. A black bow(More in weapons) rests Parallel to the quiver, held by another leather strap. Another belt of leather lays under the belt of rope, it holds onto the black scabbard of an ancient katana. Weapon: Riel’s primary weapon is a black bow; this bow was carved from an ancient dead tree by her ancestors, imbued with the runes of air it can twist the air when the arrow cuts through it. The bow is a deadly weapon for assassinations due to the fact it makes the air around an arrow razor sharp, so even if it misses by a few centimeters the air can wound an opponent severely. Another unique thing with the bow, is the fact it also channels fire; Riel sometimes invokes fire and wind to make a deadly attack which often drains her energy with a single strike. Riel’s secondary weapon are throwing needles honed to a razor sharp point, they are often dipped in a deadly poison that acts as acid when it touches the skin of an unlucky victim. They are often not deadly without the acid unless they hit a pressure point; causing Riel’s accuracy to be tested in situations she has no poison to use. However; she is quite accurate when it comes to ranged and throwing weapons due to her minor manipulation of the air. Riel’s third weapon is a katana made out of a golden metal, but having no chemical similarities to gold itself; the blade has runes crudely etched into the flat sides of the blade. The unique factor of Riel’s katana is that it carries a hand guard made of an elegant silver; and the fact the handle is almost transparent. The handle’s base contains a gem of yellow topaz shaped as a rose petal. The Katana contains the ability to warp air itself, allowing the arcing of air into a razor sharp force. |
