A swift entrance from a patron broke his attention from Ladybug. He had seen the man before enter, yet this figured moved swiftly for a safe spot in the Tavern. His head tilted slightly. The golden hinges on the door seemed to burn into a rusted steel. It was a minor change, subtle to evade the eyes of most. It ensured that anyone attempting to enter, would simply find an abandon building. The tavern itself had shifted slightly in the planes of space and time. Max's eyes shifted to the blind man who miraculously walked to this figure. He anticipated some sort of result from this move, but was unsure of what that would be. His attention danced back to Ladybug, "Surely you could not leave before I tell another of my tales, aye?" His long pause was sign that he expected more than just an answer as his eyes bounced back and forth from the comers of new and old. |

The old man had seen enough days to recognize that the girl was experiencing a different reality. The man being, only himself being 74, had read many minds during his journeys across the world. In all truthfulness, his accumulated experiences reached that of a man who had lived life a dozen times. He had in the prime of his days traveled the world, searching out memories and experiences. Knowledge was his true intention. Today, no... not today, yet actually 2 days. The day that he is experiencing, and the day the girl is experiencing. Anyways, he had the opportunity to see inside the mind of something different, which he took the chance to take advantage of. The man turned his consciousness towards Maximilien, focusing his will on the thought he wished to portray to him. Then he released them. Max, my young friend, what is with the disbelief? You seem to be experienced in the ways of magic, yet naive in the ways of the mind. Consciousness is a different property, independent of time and space. That is what makes it so miraculous. At that point the man returned his thoughts towards the woman in "front" of him, reaching across the voids of space and time, to a realm located beyond, then back again. |

Having a complete stranger sit down in front of her, her green eyes narrowed as she studied the man. She noted that he was blind, but the way he had moved over to her table was magnificent, not to have run into any of the obstacles that were bound to hamper a blind man. Licking a deep cut on the left side of her bottom lip, she waits long enough to have her drink set down in front of her before she moves her hand to hold it. "Excuse me, sir, but I did not invite ye to join me at this table," she said softly before lifting her mug. "I would very much appreciate it if ye left me alone. I do not want any company right at this moment." Placing the cold mug to her lips, she tilted her head back just enough to take a shallow drink of the whiskey. Her eyes remain trained on the blind man before her, waiting for him to leave her. |

His long pause after he spoke to Ladybug assured that he would not get an immediate response out of her anger. His attention was then turned to the female being irked by the blind patron. His steps toward the table were calm and relaxed. He poised himself at the edge of the table. "Sir, we do have one rule in this place." His eyes glanced between the man and woman. "Please do not bother other patrons, lest they invite yeh to it." He remained there, awaiting response. Perhaps it would be retort, it did not matter. He simply wished to reassure the harassed patron. |

I am sorry mam... If you want any help, just ask.. That was the last thought he placed in her head. At that point the old man just stood up and walked towards where he originally sat where he entered. He reached his consciousness out again, observing the environment as he did when he originally entered. He didn't truly turn his turn his attention away from the woman however. He just was monitoring her remotely. She wouldn't admit it, yet she had something to say, and he wanted to hear it. He relaxed, wishing someone else in the bar would start some conversation.

Lifting her gaze from the blind man to the approaching man, she felt herself tense and she fought to remain calm. Bringing the mug of whiskey up to her lips, she listened to the man speak and gleaned from the information that this man was the owner. "Thank you," she said softly and then let her eyes lower to the mug and table before her. She studied the grain of the wood, trying to distinguish what type of wood was used to create the table. Another soft sigh passed through her thin lips before her tongue darted out to run along the bottom lip, playing softly with the deep cut. Lifting the mug once more to her lips, she tilted her head back and finished off the drink easily. |

His nod was followed by a short pause, then the blind man escorted himself to the bar. Max decided to linger in his position for a moment. His attention swayed toward the still speechless Ladybug, as if she had been paused in time. He figured she was indeed paused, in thought. Should she stay, it was his victory. Should she go, she would miss out on hearing her own grandeur told to the patrons. With this he was left by the woman's side. Only a few words slipped from the part in his lips. "The name's Maximillion, yeh need help; jes lemme know." He gave her a gentle smile, then allowed her the chance to be with herself. |

She inclined her head to Max and let her mind and body relax. She was glad that he hadn't asked her any questions. Her story was her own and she wanted to keep it that way. She had gotten herself into the mess and she would soon get herself out of it. Letting out a deep breath and lifting the mug once more to her lips, she suddenly realized that she had finished off her whiskey. Standing up, she manuevered her way toward the bar and waited patiently as she looked around the room, letting her eyes linger on several of the other patrons. She took in their garbs and noted that she wasn't the only one who wore a rather magnificent dress. "Bartend, may I please have another whiskey?" she asked softly as she tried to catch the bartender's attention. |

Every time Max spoke towards her, Ladybug's insides bubbled with rage. She knew what he was thinking, because they had a history that went back farther than anyone else in the bar had been alive. Her arms lay at her side as straight as her bulging hips would allow. Her old fists were clenched tightly, knuckles white as the taut skin over them forced blood away. Ladybug stood near the door, oblivious to all around her as her thoughts, armed to the teeth, went to battle. On one side, curiosity and vanity stood tall, garbed in heavy armor of bright colors and various styles. On the other side, a selfish sense of victory led an army that stretched to the horizon, organized and precise. Feeling his gaze burning a hole into her back, a white flag finally raised on the side of victory. Max had won this battle, as he had many others. Ladybug turned around and hobbled to the bar with her fat, stocky legs. She grabbed a bottle of wine from behind the bar and proceeded back over to her corner, now lit brightly due to the new golden color of the flames in the fireplace. Uncorking the bottle, her swollen fingers grasped the deep green bottle and ungracefully refilled her cup, the head of the bottle clanging against the rim of the old wine glass. Ladybug shoved the cork back into the top of the bottle before picking up the beverage before her. She shot Max a glare as she tilted the glass up, her eyes daring him to gloat as the scarlet liquid found its way into her mouth. |

The old man looked back down at his empty mug. He wanted another drink, yet seeking it was not an option, he sensed people still staring at him, Why did I move? he thought to himself as began to talk for the first time. His voice was horse and raspy with old age. "Mam, may I please have another ale?" With that he reached into his coat, and placed 10 pieces of copper onto the table. When the ale finally came to him, he began drinking it again. Listening, feeling, trying to realize what was happening in this unusual tavern. |

He'd watched ol' Ladybug take her bitter defeat and manage to snag a bottle. He watched her take a swig before he allowed himself to take center stand near the fire pit. "Lads an' Lasses. It's that time o' night where I tell a tale of tales. One of which bards wish for in their wildest dreams. The grand history o' meself and my companions." His voice boomed through the tavern as he spoke, unlike his normal audible and low tones. "Tonight yeh shall hear o' the time Miss Ladybug 'n Meself began building the very place you sit within now. " He glanced over to her with a smile. "That's right, Miss Trumpet herself helped me build this place in her less wrinkley times." He gave her a slight wink before allowing his gestures to entertain those watching him. "I suggest ye all order somethin' tall and hard, tis a long tale to hear." With this he gave a small pause, waiting to begin his tale after the majority of patrons had settled in. |

The wrinkles on Ladybug's face began to contort for several seconds before they finally contributed to the forming of a smile. Max began his story time just as he had other nights, but she knew this one was, in a way, a dedication to her and their years together. Her memory was faded in many spots, holes worn in certain areas of the past, but it was very rare that a memory of her and Max found its way through the cracks of her tattered mind. Sweet, red liquid flooded her mouth as she took another sip of her wine, her eyes following Max as he stood by the fire. She set the wine glass down and returned her dear friend's wink with her crooked smile, overlooking the pet names that he kept coming up with. Ladybug placed her elbow on the table and propped up her head, swirling the wine glass around in her free hand as she anxiously awaited the beginning of their story. |

After recieving her refill, she moved back to her table and sat down, listening to Max as he spoke. Her eyes shifting to the woman he spoke of and a soft smile played upon her lips. She let her eyes linger on the woman and then drifted slowly back to Max, awaiting for him to start his story. Lifting her mug to her lips, she took a smaller drink from it than her first two drinks. She wanted to remain somewhat sober to listen to his tale, he seemed interesting enough. |

The short pause was filled with the chime of glasses and silverware. His booming voice struck cord again, he seemed to grow slightly more tall than he was before. He was the most noticed of the people filling the tavern. The tavern seemed to vanish from view. The walls vanished as did the fire pit. It soon became nothing but workers, patrons, and wooden frame holding the structure together. "Ages ago, before the lives of many of you, the tavern was being constructed." The structure was deep in a clearing of a dark forest. Thick roots seemed to be alive as a young, black haired version of Max wandered out of the thick. "Ah, less handsom then; than I am now." He chuckled lightly. A gorgeous young, jet black haired, woman wandered not too far behind him. She had on an extravagant red outfit, lined with onyx stones. "Now you know why we call her Ladybug." He chuckled and glanced at her. "It was what felt like a winter's dusk. Very cool... Odd weather for a plane stuck in eternal midsummer. We were there to investigate, we figured my magic had... Well, messed things up. It's a bit complicated." He paced side to side, telling the story. "We never realized the plane was in flux. Apparently it's stronghold over midsummer was weak. Yer, ol' Max didn't help that fact any." A large serpent figure slowly began its journey behind Max and Ladybug. "That... My friends, somehow slipped from a plane of winter greatness." He chuckled. The serpent unleashed a crystaline roar, ice spewing like plasma from its depths. Ladybug and Max had been narrowly spared, due to some minor protective magic already in place. "Yeh see... I was smart then.. " He winked, "Unfortunately we were unarmed." He took a pause as the serpent reared back once more. |

Rozwell had finished bandaging her palm by wrapping a piece of cloth over her cut. As she walked back behind the bar she heard Max starting to tell his story. She loved his stories, all the things he had done, and all the wonderful things he shows with his magic during his wild tales. She walked around the bar and leaned her back against the lip of the bar, flaring her wings and then relaxing them in a comfortable position on the bar. She loved the part about the Ice serpent, She gave a smile as she watched the magnificent show. While exploring the magic scenery she noticed one of the patrons wearing a lovely emerald coat with red flowing curls draped over the figures shoulders. "An vaecaesin, nomag?" "An elf, maybe?" She spoke softly to herself as she let out a small purr like whimper as she crossed her arms and relaxed a bit more. |

With longing eyes, Ladybug watched her younger self as Max projected the past around them as if it were real. She now wore a dress that was the inverse of the one she typically wore back then, representative of her finally moving on. The stones on the projected dress shone with a brilliance that hadn't been visible on Ladybug in years. The memories that Max was showing were identical to the ones in her mind as she thought back to their adventures together. The particular project he was describing was one that would change the two of them forever. Ladybug missed the action with the serpent. She found her attention focused around the room instead, observing the reactions others had to one of the incidents that would shape these two old folks. |

Letting her attention move to the serpent, her eyes widened slightly at everything. She let her eyes fell upon the two figures of Max and the woman in the corner. She studied the scene as it played out and thought about what she would've done in that situation. Then she felt eyes upon her and looked around slowly. Her eyes stopped on the woman behind the bar and she took in the woman's long horns and her figure. A soft smile played along her lips before she returned her attention to Max and his story. |

The serpent struck down with a mighty force. A blinding blue light filled the air. Max had been blown to the ground in the attack. There stood Ladybug. She was out of breath, but postured strong. What was left of the serpent gave a mighty howl. It slowly vanished as it's weakened state would not allow it to remain in the midsummer plane. The young version of Ladybug looked toward Max and smiled. She had already seemed to gain a few years in just moments. The young Max looked up. "---- Thank you." Her real name wasn't heard, as if taken out of the story itself. She simply gave him a smile and nodded. "She gave her age and beauty to save ol' Max here.." He glanced back to the real Ladybug, giving her a smile. "Saved me life she did... Since then we've tried to get the years back.. You could say it's worked some.." He smiled... His story continued on, describing various things they did just after that event and how it drew them closer together. Before long the tavern was returned to its original state and Max was ending the story. His after thoughts were short but sweet, allowing him to return to his duties at the bar. |

Alex had sat in the corner of the Tavern for quite sometime, he had fallen asleep once the tale had begin; tired from the day he had just faced. How long had he been out, an hour; two? He didn't know, and didn't bother to keep track of time while within the walls of the Tavern. Placing a hand on the wall behind him he climbed to his feet, eying the patrons once more before heading towards the cellar; he kept mumbling something under his breath. Approaching the door he stared at it, before raising a hand, the door pulled itself open. Looking around before slipping into the cellar he smiled; maybe life wasn't so bad after all. With a long and hefty sigh, Ladybug returned her gaze to her former self just before she struck the serpent down to defend her dearest Max. Once the luminescent blue light faded away to reveal the figures once more, Ladybug lost her look of admiration. The once young, voluptuous woman had gained years in age, nearly drained of power after casting such strong magic. Putting the rest of Max's story in the background, Ladybug downed the rest of her wine and filled up her glass again. She did not need to hear their sweet memories come from his aged lips; she was playing them out in her mind on her own as she stared off into the distance. These two souls were once very close, nearly inseparable. Their time together has since diminished, and Ladybug was sure that he had forgotten much of the past. A single, lonely tear formed on the corner of her right eye. Upon sensing this, the old woman turned her body towards the window behind her. Her heavy eyelid blinked the tear away from her crow's feet, the salty drop forming a bath down the wrinkled face. Ladybug lifted her wine glass to her parched lips again and took a large swig of it, nearly slamming the glass down as she returned it to the splintered table. |

Lifting her glass of whiskey to her lips once more, she lets her eyes lower to the table as she thinks about Max's story about how this tavern was made. It seemed possible, but then again, anything is possible once you put your mind to it. Her eyes closed slightly and she coughed softly, lifting a hand to cover her mouth. Many paths seem to cross and yet...they seem to drift apart and then meet again later in life, she thinks to herself. She leaned back in the chair and relaxed, letting the whiskey make her mind buzz gently. |

A wooden plank broke free of the crate with a soft squeak. A sign of wood that was more old than the material that filled the crate. Maximillion reached into the crate, he pulled out an old bottle. It was not one filled with wine. Some other silvery liquid filled the large magnum bottle. He uncorked it with a hiss and pop. A few moments passed by and he let the liquid pour into an oversized bowl. Perhaps another hour had passed by. Maximillion walked by Ladybug and gave her a light smile. He'd been working on this brew for years now, he felt to be on a break through. He'd been working on a way to restore her to beauty and age that she deserves. All he had done is prolonged both of their lives. The story was more than just memories, but a way to bring her hope that the potion would work. After he passed her, he began surveying and wandering about the tavern as his usual. Edited by Vexar, October 17 2008, 12:21 PM.

Finishing off another glass of wine, Ladybug continued to stare out the window. After a few moments, she saw Max's reflection growing larger in the window before her as he got closer to her table. He shot her a small smile, one that she returned instantly. She had long wiped the path of salty water from her face, attempting to keep another one from forming. Damn Max and his stories, she thought as he continued on his way. The old man had a way of raising emotions out of her that no other being was able to raise. This particular memory really hit home with this overweight has-been. Deciding that she had had enough alcohol for the evening, Ladybug snapped her fingers and watched her wine glass and half-empty wine bottle fly back to the bar with grace, dropping gently onto the counter in front of Rozwell. The burgundy liquid in the bottle barely swashed around with the light way in which it was set down. Realizing that the cork was still on her table, she pointed to the bar and watched it zoom over to the bottle and pop itself inside the opening at the top. After verifying that the glass and bottle were where they should be, Ladybug pulled a journal out from the large handbag that she had shoved out of sight in the corner when she came in. Her fat fingers pried a pen from the spine of the book and pulled the cap off. Using a ribbon bookmark, Ladybug immediately found the part of the book she wanted. Her sagging eyes focus intently on the blank page before her for a few minutes before the pen began to go to work. |

Silently the man walked in, his movement erratic, his breathing heavy and his face pallid. The taverns doors closed as quickly as they opened. The tall slender man, with auburn hair, pupils as dark as the nights sky, and rosy lips walked in, stumbling over to the counter - away from everyone. His eyes peered at all the patrons that were present in this humid tavern. Raising his right arm up high, he waved it around before he deeply called out to the tender, "Oi! I want a pint of lager here." Careless of what others would think of him, he slammed his hard head onto the counter, echoing a loud thud. "God.." he mumbled aloud before dozing off for a bit. |
