OOC and sign-up here: http://s1.zetaboards.com/roleplaysanctuary/topic/1620429/1/?x=0#post214464 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Alexis Lay in her big, comfy, bed. She had the whole room to herself, mainly due to the fact that no-one had wanted to share with her. Alexis didn't mind, the quiet was nice, but company would nice too...today was the day everyone arrived, newcomers and familiar faces. Alexis stayed here over the summer, there was nowhere for her to go... She pulled the covers back over her face, knowing full well she was late. It was her second year at St.Obsidian's school for the gifted, and she had been assigned to the house of fire since day one. And since day one she had shown an apt ability for the Element magic they had taught throughout the first year. This was not the reason she did not want to face her fellow demonic housemates, it was the fact that everyone else had private classes to control their unique abilities, and Alexis Star had not yet shown any signs of having any sort of extaordinary talent. This had made her the laughing stock of her peers, even her tutors had begun to whisper behind her back. Maybe there was something wrong with her brain, she started to wonder if her neglectful parents (all too keen to get rid of her) had dropped her on her head when she was a baby, when her thoughts were interuped by a thudding knock on the door to her room... It was nearly 7 in the morning, and the same unusual Northeasterly gust that came at this time every year, came whirling into the courtyard of St. Obsidian's. Leaves from the trees blew up in mini wind-devils, and when the gust halted, there stood Airowyn, an Angel of the Air House. He was wearing his usual long, silver school robes, and had his pack with his things form home slung around his back. He silently slipped into the school, and made his way to his room. As he reached the Main Hall where it divided into Angel and Demon halls, he noticed that al the doors to each room were open. "Must be airing out the rooms." With the slight of his hand, he sent two surges of wind down each corridor, closing every open door, and pounding hard twice at the door at the end of each. But the last door in the Demon Corridor was closed. Weird.. Airowyn then slowly turned to his right and headed down the Angel Corridor to his room to ready for the year. Alexis groaned, she didn't want to get out of bed, but that thud must have meant someone was impatient for her awakening. She climbed out of bed, slipping on her red robes...why did everything have to be so cleche? Sighing, she moved swiftly to the door to see whho was interupting her groveling. Opening the door, she saw the blur of blue as it turned the corner. They couldn't have been new, no-one was expected to arrive until around 10 o'clock, and robes weren't issued until tomorrow... "Hey!" she called "did you knock on my door?" She wondered who the angel was, she never really spoke to anyone from Ice, but then again, she hardly even spoke to her own kind. |

As Airowyn turned down the Angel Corridor, he heard what sounded like a voice from afar. He looked around slightly, a bit confused, and then shrugged, figuring it was the wind. He walked down the hall to his room, 8 doors from the first on the right, and gently slipped his ancient key into the lock. The lock thudded with every knotch of the lock the key pushed up, and after the fifth notch, Airowyn tuirned the key, and opened the creaking door. His room was just as he left it. Small, roomy, and 3 bookshelves filled with tomes of various subjects. He shrugged his silver robes to the floor, leaving him in his sweatpants and soft, cloth shoes. His chest showed of goosebumps from the cold travel to St. Obsidians. Airowyn then walked back out of his room and back out into the courtyard. He sat quietly in the grass, and meditated, waiting for all of his peers to arrive from the summer holiday. He breathed in and out deeply, letting the cool forest air penetrate his lungs, his heart, his very being. He slowed his breathing even more and gradually, Airowyn started to disappear. As the breeze grew stronger, his breathing increased, and after a minute or two , he had completely vanished. A strong wind still remained, and it traveled quickly around the grounds, up and over trees, through the corridors, permeating the grounds, and then came back to courtayard. The gust slowed, and slowed, and blew down to the ground, and gently formed and rested back into the human shell, Airowyn. He opened his eyes slowly, and stood up.A very good session The Son of the air, then laid down on the cool grass, and quickly fell asleep, tired from his journey. |

Strange. Alexis thought as she returned to her room. She removed her robes, hanging them behind the door and decided to get dressed properly. Classes didn't start until tomorrow afternoon, so she didn't need to bother with formalities just yet. She grabbed a pair of jeans from her draw and her favorite black long-sleeved top was strewn on the floor. She grabbed that too, along with a pair of trainers and headed out into the courtyard. It was awfuly quiet outside, something she'd gotten used to over the summer, and no-one was around yet. Most of the tutors hadn't even arrived yet. Alexis was the only pupil she knew who stayed over the summer. The place was not as empty as she thought however. She caught a glimpse of a dozing figure on the grass, not far from where she was stood. Curious, she wandered over, wondering if she should wake them up. He was an angel, she noted, and not a bad looking one at that. "Hey" She said, trying not too peer over too much, she didn't want to petrify the lad. |

A dark room appeared before him, candles outlining it. He stood in the center facing a shadowed feminine figure. The girl turned to him, and looked like she was about to speak and then... 'Hey!' Airowyn awoke, and sat up, turning backward to see the source of the greeting. He was surprised to see a girl from Fire house here, especially wearing jeans. Nobody arrives till 10. He thought. Then he piped up. "Why hello." Airowyn chuckled slightly at the awkwardness, and stood up to face her. He softly rubbed his chin. "You...you are Alexis, right?" |

Alexis was surprised at his knowledge of her existence. "Erm, yeah....I'm Alexis" She thought for a moment, her eybrow raised "How d'you know my name? I mean, most people don't even notice I'm here half the time" She was quite confused at his, she'd only came over to say hello, he was the first true person she'd seen since the begining of the summer. She didn't really know what to say after this, the one time she wanted to speak and she was at a loss for words. Edited by Elyad, May 24 2009, 02:52 PM.

"I know most everyone here...I just choose not to talk to most of them." Airowyn answered, chuckling softly. He paused slightly, noticing her apprehension. "I apologize if I perturbed you..." His demeanor softened. Airowyn was always a fluid speaker, but his surprise at her coming upon him in the courtyard jarred his filtering some. He had definitely known who she was. A lot of the Angels did, almost always in a derogatory sense, seeing as she was one of the 'late bloomers', who showed no signs of a signature power mastery of their element. Alexis was very beautiful, and Airowyn went to great lengths to watch her, make sure she was ok. He hadn't seen her for a few months and during the summer, often thought about her. Wondered where she was. What she was doing. He never had the guts to go up and speak to her. She was a Demon after all and eh was an Angel. A match reeking of taboo and curses by both parties. And here he was, talking with her...or at least trying to. |

"Oh, no..It's fine" She replied, she was quite surprised that he would speak to her, knowing who she was. Especially considering he was an angel, not a bad looking angel though, she thought. He was kinda cute... "Were you the one that knocked on my door before?" She wondered, sitting herself on the grass next to him. Seeing as the place was empty and nothing got started 'till later, she might as well stay and talk. It couldn't do any harm to cross a barrier if no-one knew she was, could it? She thought a moment about the matter of rivalry between the two races. What was the point in having a mixed school if the two weren't allowed to mix? |

The angel chuckled "I wasn't knocking exactly, I was just shutting all of the open doors in the hall. The staff had them open for cleaning I'm guessing." He then outstretched his hand to his right side and closed his eyes. The wind picked up and the door of the citadel sprung open. Airowyn's t-shirt flew through the doorway and into his grasp, then the gust died down. He put it on and looked to Alexis again. "Were you here all summer?" Airowyn gazed into her eyes. He had a bad habit of doing that. He never meant to unnerve people, but he always looked directly at whomever he was speaking to. So they knew his attention was solely on them. Such beautiful eyes... He blushed at his thoughts, and tried to hide it by smiling at the girl sitting next to him. |

Alexis sighed, looking down to the grass, "I don't really have a home to go to, so yeah, I was here all summer." She wasn't really used to talking to people, so it was difficult for her not to spill her guts out to this poor angel. She looked up, realising he was staring straight at her. Alexis blushed slightly, something she hadn't done in a long while. She smiled lightly, "You know who I am, but I don't even know your name...It'd be awful rude of me if I winged about my troubles to a complete stranger" |

"Oh! Im sorry!" The angel reach out his hand in a soft manner to greet the demoness, "Airowyn...Airowyn Solblade." He smiled gently, hoping she wouldnt mind his formal nature. |

Alexis took, Airowyn's hand and shook it lightly. His skin was so soft... "Airowyn." she repeated. "nice name, I wonder why I haven't seen you around? Skulking about in the background usually means I can get a grasp on who everyone is...It's better than being part of some fad group..." This was true on some parts, but Alexis hoped that he wouldn't catch on that she would really heve loved to have been at least recognised by one of these 'groups'... |

Airowyn smiled and winked "Maybe, I just skulk a little bit better." adding a playful tint to the conversation. "No, I just tend to stay out of the way. I'm either in class in near silence, or out and about roaming the campus. and I totally know where you are coming from. I'm in this fad group, called Angels..oh, God. The most pompous individuals you will ever meet, all of them!" He laughed heartily, secretly jumping for show in his soul for finally being able to touch a girl. So warm... |

Alexis laughed, she could almost feel the lines on her face crack it had been that long. "You could say the same about Demons, the two have more in common than it's thought" This was true, she'd managed to do some reading over the summer, revealing that hatred between the two was not allways so deepset. Maybe just being with this one here was enough to turn back centuries of rivalry. I mean, it didn't take much to say hi...but then again, she was no ordinary demon. "You're different though, not as pompous. So am I, i suppose...." |

"I would say we are both really different. Not petty like our respective brethren. I like that, even if I am labeled as an outcast of my own race." Airowyn smiled gently, looking to the sky. The sun was rising quickly. "The professors should be arriving soon. What a sight it would be for them to see us, sitting her talking." He leaned back, laughing loudly. "I'm up for that if you are." His eyes shown brighter than normal, more relaxed around this demoness than anyone else. |

Alexis giggled, she hadn't had this much fun since....she couldn't remember "I'm game" She said finaly, leaning back. She looked to the sky and tried to remember a time when she had last had fun....her brother...Mori...she frowned at the lost memory and turned back to Airowyn and smiled. She noticed a figure in the background, "Oh look," she pointed "There's one now" |

"Well, look at this place!" Claire Velun looked around at her dorm room with a scowl. "So lackluster. So drab. So... not me!" She stomped to the bed and looked at its lack of linens. Instantly, a ball of maroon fire appeared in the hand that she held forward and cupped. She whipped it around like a softball and threw it at the sleeping arrangements, and they caught instantly. The fire spread all around the top of the bed, and Claire decided to lay in it. Being a demon and being used to the fire she spawned, she only felt a mild warmth. Hopefully, the fire alarm or smoke detector won't spoil her moment. She sighed, "This will do for now..." |

Alexis jumped to her feet on hearing the ringing of the fire alarm, "I'm so sorry Airowyn" she frowned, "I'm gonna have to deal with this" Alexis shot off as quick as she could, not having any wings tended to make getting places a little tedious, but then again so did not being very good at Physical activity in general. After sprinting through the corridors she found the cause of the problem. Smoke was pouring out of the sides of the door to one of the dorms. Catching her breath she tapped the code into the security unit on the wall next to her, stopping the fire alarm. When will anyone ever learn not to use powers in the dorms?...she thought to herself, aproaching the door. She knocked loudly, hoping it could be heard over the flames inside. "hello?" she called "is anyone in there?" |

"Oh, drats. I knew I couldn't trust the alarm!" Claire stood on the floor as the sprinklers in her room doused the bed. Through the smoke she could hear knocking and a voice. Claire blew away the smoke and opened the door for another girl, probably another demon. She waved as her face became free of smoke. "It's such a shame they had to prevent my beauty from spreading all along this building. If all of the rooms are like mine, I'll have some work to do."

Alexis looked at the demon girl unimpressed. She'd only been here a year, but she was used to this kind of demon allready. She'd heard of the Velun family before, and despite their reputation, Alexis did not seem particularly fond of being looked down upon by yet another well established family. Perhaps this one would be different. Alexis hoped this one would be different. "Claire Velun I presume?" Alexis asked. "We have rules here that state clearly that no powers are to be used in the dorms. I'm guessing this is your first year here so I'm going to let this one slip by. Welcome to St Obsidian's" She smiled. |

Claire listened to the girl put her down and pouted with her arms crossed. "Hmph, I guess I'll do it the old fashioned way, for now." Claire planted her hand on the bed and the fire travelled up her arm until the fire and smoke was no more. It left the top of the bed charred black. She turned back to the girl. "Well, no one told me we were supposed to get our own linens. Heh heh. I only brought clothes with me. Well, along with the bird cage and some family heirlooms and my beauty kit and a little bit of cash--not much, just a few hundred--and... Hmm, there was one more thing, but I can't figure out what it is..." Claire stopped listening as she took a seat on her train of thought. |

Alexis couldn't help but smile. The girl was vain, but seemed nice enough. "I'm sure you'll remember..." She looked at the charred bed and sighed, "If you want, I can get you some fresh linens, some that maybe a bit more to your tastes..." Alexis wasn't all too sure they had any but it was worth a try, The old store rooms had a lot of things worth more than she could think of. Okay, so technically she wasn't supposed to venture that far into the halls, no-one was, but she could give it a go while no-one was around... |

Claire was interested in the offer, even though she was still deep in thought. She glanced at the girl and grinned. "That sounds nice, thank you. I'll be expecting them soon. I'd like something ruby red. It brings out my inner emotions. Now, what was that thing...?" Claire ended the conversation by walking away from the girl and returning to her thoughts. |

Ruby red... Alexis repeated to herself, leaving the girl to her own thoughts. She was sure there'd be something in the old store rooms. Making her way down the corridor , Alexis started humming to herself as she walked. Unusual, seeing as Alexis had never been one for music, even humming. It was light and cheerful, unusual again, and contrasted greatly with the sombre looking corridors of fire house. She aproached a door, it was obviously older than the others, and hung from it was a small peice of wood with the words 'ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK' etched on in some sort of manic attempt at writing. |
