camp idea, a camp run by the principal of IDEA [individuals with disabilities education act] is a place for kids with special needs. there are many kinds of children that inhabit this camp. IDEA entails the following individuals:

  • mental retardation
  • hearing impairments [deafness, speech, or language]
  • visual impairments [blindness]
  • serious emotional disturbance
  • orthopedic impairments
  • autism
  • traumatic brain injury
  • specific learning disabilities
  • other health impairments


all individuals that fit the IDEA requirements are sent to camp idea until the age of twenty-one. this entails that they will be catered to their special needs and allowed approximately two hours of free time to play with other individuals that have the same special needs under IDEA. during this time, a certain group of children [that prefer not to call themselves anything] form a pact to escape from the camp. the camp is off the side of a country road, and daily they see free individuals roaming the countryside. for many of the individuals it is simply the lack of adventure, for others the want to be like those. most of these children lack basic language or writing skills, but this group each has something that will help them escape from camp idea. together they may be able to survive in the world, unaided.
