Okay, I'm new here, and I've read through the general rules and everything, so I hope I'm not breaking any! If I am, please feel free to give me a friendly slap on the wrist and I will cease. I'm looking to explore more of a plot I've had in my head for a while now. If anyone is interested, here it is: Daniel is a young Vampire who was turned when he was 17 (10 years ago.) His surrogate sister, Tess, is a werewolf who was turned at the same time. They travel together, watching out for one another and trying to stay one step ahead of hunters or rival clans. They come to a small town and look to set up there for a while, and there they meet humans who affect them more than they'd expected. World: modern-day fantasy. Characters can hail from high school, college, the workforce, anything. Hunters, vamps and werewolves have to conceal what they are around humans in their society. Possible underground scene where they can meet in packs or groups, but most humans will have no clue they exist. This is open to one or two human players. Gender doesn't matter... I'm going to see where the story takes us. Anything is open-ended, such as eventual transformation of the humans, romance, or rivalries. Also, if anyone wants to step in as a hunter, a rival vamp or werewolf, feel free. Again, gender not important. I think I'd cut off the sign-ups right around the 5 person mark or so. After that it might get too confusing. As of now, my ideal would be: a male human, a female human, a hunter (whatever gender), and either two rival vamps, two rival werewolves, or one of each. Gender doesn't matter for them either. Well, let me know if you're interested! Sorry if the plot sounds a little Twilighty. I'll try to be original, promise. Here are the blurbs on Tess and Daniel below (if it's not allowed for me to play both siblings, let me know... I didn't see any rules on there, but I could have missed it.) Daniel Vincent Lancaster: Tall, messy black hair and teal eyes. Pale, since he's a vamp. He's quite aloof and mellow, bordering on cold to those he doesn't know (which is just about everyone.) He may be more deep than he lets on, but he's a master at hiding his emotions. Prefers to be called Vince. Tess Lily Lancaster: Wavy brown hair, and gold eyes. Short and athletic. Tess is much more brooding and hard to approach, and barely ever smiles. She seems to have a chip on her shoulder and is fiercely protective of her brother. She lost her mate to a hunter and has a hard time opening up to others as well... though she's a lot less friendly about it than Vince. So, hit me up if you want to join up =) I'll make a note in this thread once it's full. I have no problem being directive with this plot and introducing new twists and turns, but if anyone else feels the urge to add something in, again feel free... so long as nothing happens involving alien abductions or portals to 1417, I'm very open-minded XD Name: Gender: Age: What are you?: Human, Werewolf, Vampire? Are you a hunter? Personality and looks: Pics are fine here too. Background: Family? Upper, middle, or lower class? Other quirks or important memories/experiences for your character? If you'd like to conceal this to reveal in-game, go for it. |

Let me be the first to welcome you to the sanctuary. I am the friendly and lovable, Rose. Please feel free to ask me for help or anything, I'm sure I can help you in some way. Your roleplay looks rather interesting. It does sound a bit Twilighty, but you've got a great idea here. So I made a few character sheets for it. I hope these are to your liking and if you would like anything, anything, changed on them, just let me know and I can do some tweaking. I don't mind conforming to a good idea. Name: James Smythe Gender: Male Age: 29 Race: Werewolf Personality and looks: Dark navy blue eyes, permanently tanned skin, black hair that lays down his back and stops just above the pants waistline, 6' tall, muscular, but not too much. Wears a black suit jacket, white shirt underneath, and a pair of light blue jeans and a pair of brown cowboy boots. Like most werewolves, James is slightly temperamental and is hostile towards those who are openly hostile to him. Otherwise James is an openly friendly wolf, only turning savage when he is threatened. Background: Having never lived with a pack, James has always been an outcast in the underground scene. He prefers the company of humans over other wolves or lycanthropes. James lives in a beautiful two story house, keeping his secret easily. He works as a translator from home so rarely comes out of his home, except for underground business. Places his trust whole-heartedly with Ruth, his house mate and closest friend. Name: Ruth De'Luca Gender: Female Age: 24 Race: Weretiger ((if not allowed, lemme know)) Personality and looks: Piercing sky blue eyes, tanned skin, long golden blonde hair that stops just passed her knees, 5'9" tall, slightly muscular. Normally wears the clothes of a hippie or a comfortable dress with a pair of sandals. Being a weretigeress, Ruth likes to spend time with others. Openly friendly, sometimes motherly to those she knows, chatty and charming. Background: Ruth was treated badly when she was with others of her kind due to she was too friendly to the outcast werewolf, James. So she left and, now, shares a home with James. A painter and a singer, Ruth brings a certain quality to any table she's welcome at. If they need to be changed, lemme know and I will tweak them. I was thinking that maybe throughout the story, they could become friends or something, but up to you. Welcome again to our little sanctuary of roleplay heaven. ~Rose~ |

Thanks for the warm welcome! Sure, were-tigers sound fine to me =) I think it would be interesting to see if we could get some human players, or even a few humans who know about vampires and the like and have turned into hunters in here as well. But I'm willing to start up now if you'd like too. Here's some Tess and Vince plot-moving in the meantime: *********************** Daniel Vincent Lancaster (or Vince, as he was so apt to call himself) opened his eyes at 7:30 a.m. exactly. Although he didn't technically need sleep, it was still nice to go through the motions. Sitting up and rolling off of his floor mattress, he cracked his neck and stretched out sore muscles. He still found it strange that a vampire should feel sore in the mornings when getting up... he'd felt somewhat cheated when he'd realized that his kind could still feel pain, discomfort, and other petty annoyances. Tess was still asleep, of course, and seemed to be having a bad dream no less. Making his way over to the bathroom, he rolled out his shoulder and looked at himself in the smeared and dingy mirror. A familiar pale face stared back from under messy dark hair. There were times he wished he COULD sleep. He could use with the mental break every so often. He heard a sound from the other room and turned his head slightly as Tess woke up. ****** Tess shot out of bed, panting and wild. It took her a few moments to remember where she was. They'd moved into this shoddy excuse for a house barely a month ago, and she was still having trouble adjusting to the cold. It sneaked in through the cracks in the walls all too easily. Vince was giving her a bemused look from the restroom. He was already dressed in a white collared shirt and black jeans complete with black boots. He looked like he'd been ready to leave all night, and Tess was sure she looked like Hell with her hair in tangles and bags under her eyes. "Morning, sunshine." "Come on," Vince said, rolling his eyes and tossing Tess some clothing. "We need to scope out this town sometime this century." Tess grumbled something or other back at him and began to get dressed. The mundane movements of the day were just enough to distract her. The walk through town was miserable. Tess appreciated the leaves, which were gorgeous explosions of color in an otherwise dismal town. She knew though, that soon they would lay trodden by snow-covered boots beneath a layer of snow. She detested the winter. ****** Vince loved the winter. It was, hands-down, his favorite season. The walk through town was a secluded one, since they'd managed to find a place farther away from the heart of it. In the back of his mind, Vince wondered if the people here would be any different than the ones he and his sister had encountered across the world. Although he knew he wasn't supposed to care, he couldn't help being disappointed at how petty and ridiculous humans were. Tess often reminded him that he, too, had been human not long ago, but it still bothered him. It seemed as if there were no people left in the world who could comprehend hardship, determination, honesty, or even muster up a hard day's work. Cellphones and MySpace were the addictions of the now, and Vince found that the girls in particular brought the greatest distaste to him. Although the meat-head jocks weren't much better. They neared a somewhat sad and dilapidated building. Vince's eyes raked the facility up and down. Paint was peeling off the wall and some lude graffiti was being painted over by a surly looking youth. It wasn't what he would call poverty, but it certainly could use some attention from the DOE. "Are we going to be students in this town?" Vince asked in a whisper to Tess. Tess gave him a withering look that said, "Do we have to?" to which Vince laughed. He had to admit, going to school was probably their easiest choice... but it DID get mundane after a while. ****** |

(( I'll grab a few people from some of the other rps and see if they'd like to join. )) Ruth was already gone by the time James woke up that morning. Sleep was a near constant hibernation for him and it relaxed his overworked mind. He sniffed the air and a gentle grin slipped over his lips as he caught the whiff of eggs, bacon, and ham. Where would I be without Ruth? James asked himself as he got up and dressed himself in his normal wear and tear. Jogging down the stairs from his bedroom, he pushed open the kitchen doors and saw that Ruth had set up a plate, glass, and silverware for breakfast. Always so thoughtful, he thought as he helped himself to a hearty breakfast. ------- Ruth ran her fingers through her long blonde hair, walking down the streets to the grocery store. Living with an always hungry wolf, she knew that they would be out of food sooner or later, well... food that didn't need hunting. People called out to her as she passed storefronts and she waved her greetings. "And unto the forest I call," she sang softly under her breath. Her words floated on the wind as it blew across her and carried the scent of freshly baked bread and chicken. Her eyes closed slightly as she slowed to enjoy the gentle breeze. "Hello, Ruth. How's things with James?" a male voice asked and brought a soft snarl from her. "Go on, Jadin," she growled and opened her eyes to push past the much older tiger. "I thought I'd drop by and let you know that your family misses you," he called out behind her. "I said go away," she called back and didn't stop. She hurried through the rest of her shopping and started on her way back to where she parked her car. -------- James finished his breakfast and began cleaning up the dishes. Opening the back door to the kitchen, he let the slightly chilly air surround the house. He enjoyed the nice smell of forest and earth as much as he did being a wolf every once and awhile. The water was warm and flowed calmly over the soapy remains of grease from the bacon. Finishing up, James curled up in his favorite chair and began to go over some of the work that he needed to finish before Ruth came home. |

Something had been bothering Tess profoundly ever since she and Vince had moved to this town. It was a tingle in her elbows and an itch in her nose, and she couldn't place what it was. Vince, of course, had written this off as Tess' "monthly cycle," a pun that never seemed to get old with him. Yet it was still disturbing her in the back of her mind as she and her brother staged a very quiet, yet violent argument outside of the doors of the school. "You know it would be simpler if you and I just enroll as new students," he said, rolling his eyes and putting his hands in his pockets. "We don't look very old and plus, you know how students are. They're so distracted and unobservant. No one has even come close to catching on to us yet." "I know," Tess said, crossing her arms, "but it would also be quite easy enough for us to just keep to ourselves at home." "Looking to be about 17 years old, that's one way to get nosy humans involved in calling the cops on runaways. You remember what happened in Salt Lake, don't you?" Tess sighed deeply and rubbed her temples, which were throbbing. Still that faint smell. It was a smell, she'd decided. Something was not quite right in this town, and she couldn't place what it was for the life of her. "Yes, I remember. Truancy officers galore... Okay, fine. But can we make this decision a little later on? We haven't even checked this place out yet. To see if it's safe. No use enrolling in class and leaving a day later due to hunter activity or angry rival clans." "Point taken," Vince said, nodding graciously. "No edumacations for us today, then." Tess closed her eyes and wished for a zen-like peace. In the meantime, she'd be tracking that scent... whatever it was. "Why don't we head closer to the heart of town," she suggested mildly to Vince. "See what's around there." He nodded amiably and they set off together. ((OOC: thanks for checking to see if others want to join I appreciate it greatly! Hopefully we can see if any people want to play humans, and if they are in the schooling age. That will largely determine whether or not I want Tess and Vince to enroll in school or not. Till then, they wander.))

James finished with his work and moved to the window, peering out it. 'Ruth should be home by now. Where is that tiger?' he thought to himself. Chewing on his bottom lip some, he moved away from the window, grabbed his car keys from the hanger in the kitchen, and went for the garage. Upon touching the button to open the garage door, James moved toward the black Jeep and climbed in. Slam went the driver side door and the gentle rumble of a car engine started from the Jeep. Backing out of the garage, James moved some as he worried about Ruth. He drove down the long driveway, passing the beautiful golds, greens, yellows, and reds of the changing leaves. ----- Ruth continued to walk down the main street sidewalk, carrying the bags of food she had recently bought. Her sky blue eyes scanning the area around her as the morning crowd bustled about her. Each person carrying the scent of a human and the faint whiff of their breakfast lingered in the air behind them. The wind blew again, this time carrying a slightly musty and earthy smell, as well as the familiar scent of the forest. Hesitating at the new scents in the air, Ruth tilted her head to the side, before she fished out her cellphone. Quickly dialing James, she scanned the crowd for new faces. ---- Feeling his phone go off, James pulled it out of his pocket. Letting his eyes drift away from the road and to the caller id, he let out a relieved sigh when it read Ruth. "Hey," he answered. His voice painted with a gentle accent and it was rough like the rumble of thunder during a storm. ---- "James, you in town?" Ruth asked as she stopped at her car. Placing the bags on the roof of her car, she unlocked the doors. ---- James looked around as he drove, calculating the distance from where he was to town. "Not yet. Why?" ----- "Hmmm. I'm at the parking lot by the bookstore. You'll smell it when you come in," she said and hung up the phone. Ruth's eyes watched the crowd as they marched by the lot some and then she concentrated on putting the groceries away in her backseat. |

Name: Conor Ginsburg Gender: Male Age: 17 Race: Spiritual Hunter (a hunter that uses supernatural energy in addition to regular tools. Let me know if this is not allowed, please.) Personality and looks: Conor has dark brown hair, with a silvery patch that appears above his right eye, the mark of a hunter. His hair always obscures his right eye, due to the fact he is heterochromiac(?), with one blue eye and one yellow eye. He does that to avoid attracting more strange looks than he usually does. His yellow eye actually lets him see supernatural energy. Conor is skinny, but actually has great physical strength, necessary if he wants to fight on par with Vamps and 'Wolves. He typically wears a grey long sleeve shirt with a black short sleeve over it, denim jeans, a belt, and sneakers. His hunter's garb only adds on to his regular appearance, with a small harness containing equipment which he hides with a black trenchcoat. (Becuase coats are cool ).He is extremely cold and detached from other people, and despises most supernatural beings, himself included. As such, he suffers from a degree of depression, as all he really wants is to fit in. He is tolerant to an extent of were-tigers, having made a truce with them some time before the arrival of Vince and Tess, due to their numbers eventually prevailing and his skill letting him kill a lot of them before they killed him. Should someone manage to crack the icy exterior, they'll find that it's all an act, one that he perfected to cope with the loss of his parents. Background: Conor was once sociable, if introverted. At the age of seven, his parents began to train him in the Hunter's Arts, having guessed they wouldn't be around much longer to help him. It was eight years later, when he had mastered all they had to teach him, that they were killed by a roaming group of vampires and an indigenous pack of were-wolves, when they tried to stop a fight between the two species that would compromise the safety of the town. The vampires left, and he slowly began to hunt down and kill each werewolf left in the town. He still continues this activity each night. His ultimate goal is to rid the town of wolves, then track down the vampires and kill them as well, so he can finally put (in his mind) his parent's souls to rest. It is unlikely he'll take kindly to the appearance of a new pair of supernaturals in the town. |

((OOC: Very cool =) Happy to have a new character in here! Question about Connor. Does he go to school?)) Vince and Tess made their rounds through the outskirts of town, past little bookshops and Chinese food restaurants and were now headed back into the more densely-populated center. Neither had said much throughout their walk, which was fairly typical. "Seems quiet enough," Vince said, shrugging. "Low key, nothing dangerous." "Yet," Tess said, though she said it without the usual edge to her voice. She had to admit, it WAS pretty peaceful here, and in all reality Vince was probably right. Most likely there was nothing at all to be worried about here. Tess just so happened to be somewhat paranoid in nature, which made it difficult for her to accept that right away. "So... I know that you like putting on the appearance of being a regular human and all," Vince said, turning and giving Tess his sarcastic smile. "So why don't we go stock up on canned goods in case the pantry-searching Vampire police break into our house and discover our secret due to our lack of Vienna sausages and cart us away for horrible, excruciating experiments." "You talk like a robot," she said, rolling her eyes. "No one talks like that." "Not my fault I was majoring in English before my untimely end," he said, bowing with a flourish. "And I know you still like to eat human food every so often. Well, shall we?" "Yeah, fine. And that was a run-on sentence if ever I heard one." "And you're not supposed to start sentences with 'and.' ... Wait. Aw, crap." He had done it, and Tess was laughing. Vince grinned wickedly at her. It was tough sometimes, making Tess chill out, but it had to be done. He continued cracking bad jokes at her as they approached the parking lot of the largest supermarket in town. |

(OOC: Conor does attend school, but based on his personality, you can imagine how well he gets along with others.) Conor stared at the ground, trudging along at a brisk pace and avoiding the stares of other people. He hated coming out in public, but the house had run out of food, and he had no choice but to obtain more. So long as he kept his hair in front of his eye, it wasn't too bad...but still, school was bad enough. He might be at the top of the class, but he had no friends to speak of. He entered the parking lot, and headed towards the carriage corale(?). THe people already clustered nervously lookeed at him, then backed away, apparently simultaneously remembering other appointments. He reached for the cart, looking wearily around the parking lot, when he did a double take. Just past the entrance, or one of them anyway, were two auras. Though not exceptionally strong, the proximity was what alarmed him. One was the blood red color of a vampire, recently turned, while the other was a silver white, indicating a werewolf. At least, that's how they appeared to him. But if they were working together, he might have a fair challenge on his hands. Because there was no question in his mind that these two would have to be put down as well. Actually, though he'd never seen them before, he'd felt something amiss for about a month now. Could that have been when they came? He narrowed his eyes. When they came didn't matter. It was how soon he sent them away...permanently. |

Rolling down the window to his Jeep, James let the breeze waft in. He took a deep breath in through his nose, tasting the different scents. He could pick out Ruth's familiar scent and then there were under laying scents of the humans, but there were two scents that were not familiar in the slightest. He pressed his foot down on the pedal and drove faster. He wanted to get to Ruth before anything happened to her. ----- Upon finishing with her groceries, Ruth straightened and looked around. The crowds of normals were walking by without a second glance. Her eyes watched for new faces as she leaned against the car door. "Come on, James," she whispered softly as she looked in the direction she knew James would be coming and didn't see him. |
