Conversation lulled as the men ate, the Seeynya tea (pronounced sane-yah) warm and spicy. Jak thought about where he would be sleeping tonight. He had yet to visit the slums, where his living quarters were meant to be. A rusting key hung round his neck on a piece of string, with "37 East Quad" scratched onto it. He swallowed another bite of the wrap.

"Max, where are you staying? Got a place?"

Not that Damien really planned on sleeping tonight. No, he wanted to be out, stalking the alleys, shadowing the rich, planning. But he'd taken a liking to this guy. He was the type of person that admired strength and loathed cowardliness.

But heavens, so much to explore, to see! He wanted to go see the underground rivers at Gidden mountains tomorrow... and the Nethelta ruins. And of course the Night Forest...

Just then, a large group of similarly dressed men and women rounded the corner. They were heading towards the Castle, or the Academy, you couldn't tell yet. They were dressed in robes of pure white and pale cream, with flourishes of red embroidery, and a strange symbol in red on the backs of their robes, like a diamond with four squares around it, just touching. Their shoes were light boots, with bandaged shins, and their forearms were also bandaged. They looked wild, free, fierce.

Kope watched them, "Fire devoted Gaians... Look, they all have palm wands. Ruby, if I'm correct." Sure enough the gems caught the light, the wood of the palm wands painted white. Plain. Striking. Most of the women had cut their hair short, and spiked it up with red gel. Those with long hair wore it in high pony tails with phoenix coloured feathers jutting out at odd angles.

Jak blinked. The sheer thought of this place, all the strange curiosities and gangs. And he'd only been here an hour. The group of Fire Gaians halted, and their leader stepped forward, a woman who's robes were red where the others' were white, and white where the others' were red.

"People of Araedoth, Daygreet. Our Element has been nominated by the Gaian council to invite you to our Graduation display over at the Fyra Shrine, north of Tyria. You will be able to see the magical feats of our finest devotees, and witness the power of Fire. Thank You". The group abruptly turned back on their heel and went back the way they'd come. Damien looked after them, then finished the last of his food.

"You gonna go see that Kope?" Damien asked, seeing Kope's curious glance. "Yes, I think I will..." came the absent reply. Damien shrugged, "I want to explore the city... what about you Max?"
