"Welcome Holiday Makers! You are about to enter the fantasy of a lifetime, a whole world where you can be anyone you want. Now we have just a short slideshow to let you get to grips with what's on offer... In a few short moments, you will be transported into the city in a mode befitting your chosen character, which has been checked and approved by our plot team. Peasants will go on foot, merchants by boat or carriage, nobles by carriage, messengers by horse, etc, etc. Now, Tyria, the beautiful city. In here you will find the Academy, the Royal Castle, the Arena, Post Office, Great Market and many Public Houses and gardens. There is also an OOC building called West Warehouse, in case you want to get back in touch with reality. The Post Office is in character, to send an actual letter home, please use West Warehouse. The currency here is the Araedothian dollar, which is worth the same as one American dollar. You should have already changed some money on your arrival, but if not, you can go to West Warehouse. Just ask a Cobalt Guard to direct you. The city is protected by the Cobalt Forces, which includes Guards, Messengers, Warriors and Sorcerers. You will learn to recognise them by their brilliant blue uniforms. The Plot team create new subplots every week, and there are always ongoing plots. You can get involved or start your own adventures if you wish. Look out for secret underground passages, or strange artifacts. The only weapons allowed are LARP approved foam or boffer weapons. No metal or hard objects please. You can purchase a weapon from the Great Market, as well as many costume bits and pieces. There are two religions here at the moment; In the beginning, the only religion was Lumina, and it's followers were called Luminati. They believed that all the elements were facets of Light, and that by mastering each element they could achieve enlightenment and communion with the soul of the world. After a while, certain people split off from Lumina, and created a sect called Gaiana, who believed that light was another element, which meant darkness was also an element. Each Gaian devoted themselves to one of the six elements in order to understand them better. But the followers of darkness soon became warped and sickly, and broke off to from the sect of Noxia. They tried to use their religion to enslave and control the populace, so the Lumina and Gaiana forces banded together to eliminate all the Noxia followers. Although the shrine and texts still exist, there are no known followers. However some customers choose to play them, and the Plot Team sometimes create followers. Our magic system has been carefully crafted to be both expansive yet understandable. There are five magic levels. 1-Basic, 2-Intermediate, 3-Expert, 4-Master, 5-Elder. Spell books are available to purchase in the market to help you "learn magic". The spells range from elemental attacks and manipulations to truth, locking and silence spells. Until a comprehensive guide is up, just do what you want, but remember, it's a LARP theme park. No magic actually HAPPENS, the other people just pretend it does, so make it a spell easy to act out and be affected by. To show the level of the spell, people shout their number before it. It's not very in character but in a LARP themepark that's what would have to happen to make magic easy to use on people. So shout "Level 2 fireball!" etc. You should already know where you're staying, but it's up to you to find it. You will all be given maps. You can rent horses, kayaks and merchant boats at stables and docks. Now good luck. Remember, if you need help, any Cobalt character will be able to help. There are other staff around disguised as cleaners and ordinary folk, but they might not be as obvious. Each settlement has a few Cobalt guards that DO have walkie talkies. We try to make you feel like it's a fantasy world, but the safety of the real world still exists. Thank you for listening. If you'd like to gather your possessions and make your way out, you can begin your journey into the Land of Araedoth!" ![]() ![]() ![]() ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Rivia lay quiet, empty. It was a wednesday, and since most tourists stayed for just a week, Rivia's houses lay waiting for the next influx of tourists, wanting to live the dream. Tessandra lounged on the back porch. Her hut was permanent, her being a Staff Character, and the back porch hung over the lip of the river, her Cobalt kayak moored securely. The hut was like many in Rivia. There were three rooms. A bathroom, a bedroom, and a living and cooking space. The furniture was minimalist, her possessions tucked into willow baskets or hidden behind cloth curtains. Her bed lay close to the floor. She was sat on a cushion, the breeze tousling her hair, her legs swinging idly over the lip of the porch. Most Rivia residents rented kayaks, and made their way down on them. She watched the distance, waiting to see them. It was midday. There! The first kayak appeared on the edge of her vision. She smiled. This life was perfect. If it wasn't for her having to swap with Amy every week to do accounts, she would have believe she was living this life for real. She got up and went inside to check the kettle. It was near boiling, so she put some green tea into the teapot, and poured the water in, taking the tray and a cup out to the porch again. Communal mooring for those without a hut on the Riverbank was past her house. She would greet the newcomers as they paddled past, their belongings strapped to the front of the crafts. She sipped her tea, and waited, a smile on her face. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The academy looked out onto the castle front, Parade street and the edges of the castle gardens. Professor San Mirren lounged in her ground floor classroom. In here she taught natural remedies, herbs and spices, and how to make magic healing potions for magic attacks. This afternoon she was due to take some peasants out to the fields to teach them how to work the fields. The weather was blissful. What good luck. All she has to do was wait for the messenger to arrive to tell her her students had arrived... ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Jak looked around at the other tourists. He was here with two friends of his, playing the characters Brenden and Kope. Jak's character was Damien. He put an arm round each friend, "Well boys, this is it. The big city. Tyria. Kope, Brendan, let's see how much we can milk the nobles for eh?". Kope was silent, tall, darkly clothed. He nodded, flinching from the contact. Brendan was well-built and grinning. His lip piercings glinted as his features twisted in a grin and he punched his palm eagerly. They were surrounded by low class folk, going on foot. A servant girl, headed for the castle to judge by her purple sash, took a step away from him. "Boo!" he said, and she jumped. Damien roared in laughter. Kope sniffed. Brendan joined in after half a second, following Damien's lead. The gates loomed up before them, and several lightly-armoured Cobalt guards stepped forward to examine their papers, whilst Cobalt Warriors were posted at the gates, their heavy armour glinting in the hot sun.
