Jakob had the same tune stuck in his head for hours, and the pub was a bit too quiet for him being comfortable enough to hum or whistle it at this point in time. Maybe with another 12 oz. mug, Jakob decided, he'd probably feel the judgment wearing thin and the tune would escape from his mouth, and possibly with words as well.

Which wasn't a problem when Jakob was sober, his singing voice was rather pleasant, but it was when he had more than one beer that he felt musical enough to let the words out. It was a rather embarrassing tendency, though nothing out of the ordinary at all. It was just a reason for Jakob to make sure he'd be good enough for the drive home. Which was only a few miles, but Jakob had been in a drunk driving accident with his friend Mick, and though he wasn't driving, got the profound message of having a (hopefully) sober driver. If he were to have anything else, Jakob decided it would have to be soda or something. As much as he enjoyed Sam Adams, he wasn't going to get caught in the 3.4 miles it took to get him house. Well, it was a home, he decided, but it definitely didn't pass for a house.

He put the bill on the polished counter, lost in thought.
