I am not sure if it is possible, yet i was wondering if you could make GMs have moderator abilities on their own thread. i.e. be able to delete/edit posts we don't like. Also, we should be able to close our own threads when we think that the story is done (i am thinking into the future here).
As Vexar said, it would grant too much power to individuals. The first example that I thought of is if someone created a thread in General Discussion about politics. If everyone had power over all of their own threads, they could easily just delete or alter posts of users who may not have the same opinion as the thread creator. If we did not make it universal, and just gave a person moderator capabilities every time they created an RP thread, I think it would eventually get out of hand and be unbearable to manage as the site gets larger with more users and more threads.

Those are just a couple reasons why I don't think that is a good idea. Vexar and I are on pretty frequently, as are the other moderators, so you just have to report something to one of us and we will take care of it pretty quickly. =)
