There will be a sequel to The Dark Knight...the question isn't so much who the villain will be but other ones, my biggest being will Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale come back at all (please do). If they do decide to come back they have to try and top The Dark Knight (I can't see it myself) and if not the new director and cast have the same problem. There’s an additional problem the old and new collective would face, creating the perfect trilogy with no weak links which so few trilogies have failed to accomplish and certainly no superhero one ever has. I don't think the next villian will be Catwoman or The Penguin as it was either Christopher Nolan or David Goyer who said they didn't think both would work in the universe they were creating (no big loss for me in regards to The Penguin, although I do like Catwoman but she wouldn't be my choice either). My choice would be The Riddler as after The Joker certainly and possibly Two Face, The Riddler is my next favourite villain, I see one person straight away (in part because I know very few actors and also actresses by name LOL), who I think would do a really good job… ![]() ![]() David Tennant Edited by The Natural, Aug 6 2008, 07:48 AM.

I think Catwoman could work... almost as a female version of Bruce Wayne / Batman. They introduced the idea of copycats in TDK, so maybe she's a very good female version with a bit more creativity. Likewise the Penguin could easily be made to work... only just without a Penguin army... If there is no Catwoman, maybe they could introduce Talia Al Ghul or Harley Quinn... Riddler would be ok... though Jim Carrey kind of ruined the character for me. Tennant can certainly do dark as well as humour, so he could be a good choice. I'd imagine Nolan (if he did it), would go with a more actorly type though. Depp is the more likely choice, if he's up for it. |

Tennant is a good call for the Riddler! I'm not convinced using catwoman tho, they've already had plenty of copy cat vigilante's in Dark Knight, they could do the thief thing and head into Oceans 11 style territory with cool thefts etc but its been done quite a bit over the last decade. I reckon the third movie would logically be the mob trying to get back what they lost - allows them to bring in characters like Rupert Thorne etc and how Gotham has been changed. The Joker was the first real new breed of criminal that the city has seen after all and now its doors are open in the absence of the Bat. |

I'm not very familiar with Tennant, I've seen Dr. Who maybe twice so I can't really comment on him. I'm not sure I'd lambast Carrey as The Joker though, he kinda got saddled with a shitty script. For what he had and the direction he was given, I thought he really shined, those Schumacher films were garbage. I must say, the soundtrack was good though. The Riddler's always been my third favorite villain in the Batman universe, behind Joker and Two Face of course, so I'm really interested in seeing the character brought into a really good movie. I do have to concede that I'll go see the next installment at least 10 times if it's got Angelina Jolie in skimpy black leather. |

Is it me or is there also a possibility of Poison Ivy being in the next film possibly? |

I think Poison Ivy would have to be severely tweaked to fit in the world they've created. I could see her working as some kind of eco-terrorist...but she'd have to be toned down quite a bit as far as her appearance and such. I also read somewhere that they don't really want Penguin in any of the films. I've got to admit that I'm pretty intrigued by Depp as The Riddler, even though I doubt those rumors are true. I just hope they stay away from the over-the-top character traits they gave him in the last Batman movie he was in. |

Ra's Al-Ghoul was already in Batman Begins, Clint. They already did the eco-terrorists...though with the overwhelming go-green movement started in the last couple years, it wouldn't be a bad idea to use her. |

Yes thats exactly what i was thinking, but i also have to think of another villian that we havent seen before maybe, and also having two face lurk from the background in the next film. |
