GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP)—About 200 people rallied outside Lambeau Field on Sunday to pressure the Packers into reinstating Brett Favre as the team’s starting quarterback.

The crowd—many wearing No. 4 jerseys—chanted, “We want Brett” and carried signs reading, “Favre for President.”

Adam and Erick Rolfson organized the rally. They plan to hold another Monday night in the Milwaukee area and then every Sunday until the team reinstates Favre.

They have started a Web site, www.bringbackbrettfavre.com, where fans can vote on what the Packers should do.

General Manager Ted Thompson says Favre can rejoin the team from retirement but would have to be a backup. Favre wants an unconditional release from his contract, something Thompson says he won’t allow

You see, there's the problem. They will let Favre back as a backup. I guarantee he is much better than a guy who was only a backup, has never won a superbowl, has never played in the probowl, and not is a guaranteed first ballot hall of famer, considered unanimously one of the greatest QB's of all time.

Exactly, i do not think it will happen, if Green Bay lets Favre stay, i guarantee you in the first Packers game with Aaron Rogers starting he will mess up really bad to the point where they have to put Favre in anyways. It's not the first time in his career that has happened.

Farve is a selfish past-his-prime player with an over-inflated ego. When he retired he gave up his starting spot. All the time they've put into grooming the new guy would be a total waste. He's been a detriment to the growth of the Packer franchise for the last few years with his "will-he-won't-he" attitude. An unconditional release request is ridiculous. Trade him off, but this isn't grounds for a release.

This is one thing i have to disagree with you on, Favre weither you like him or not is not past his prime. Last season he set a career high completion percentage of 60% and was one pass away from the Superbowl. By the way he played last year showed that he has atleast 2 years left in him.
