The Dark Knight trailer wins Trailer of the Year
While opening admitting I have not seen any other trailers other than The Drak Knight and Iron Man, The Dark Knight carried something extra with it, and I'm glad the first trailer won rather than the second as although the latter was sill great, the first just had a magic about it, at least for me.
Mobile trailer with new scenes at beginning
Loving The Joker's voice (which remains consitantly great, but deserves special praise here), giving his threat. The hand held footage of The Joker filming himself looks creepy also. I love everything about this interpretation of The Joker from the look of The Joker but the aforementioned voicing throughout being my favourite, no wonder Ledger found that the hardest part to carry out.

The Dark Knight comcast website
Great site, but the videos just didn't play no matter how long it took? I had this problem despite having what I think without knowing the numbers is a fast net connection but I found the following
IMAX Feature
Batman Begins revisited
Spoiler: click to toggle I have two highlights from the IMAX feature, the Batman/Joker "Hit Me"" exchange (which has long being one of my favourites - see my avatar for proof) with Ledger's delivery and Bale's pissed look and my final highlight was Bruce Wayne not only having bruises but a scar, it was one of my favourite ideas from DareDevil.

Just recieved a new e-mail from Harvey Dent's campaign team:
- Quote:
-
Its been an incredible last few weeks. Ever since the vicious smear campaign collapsed and Harvey Dents remarkable courage at the hostage crisis at Rossis Deli, our campaign has ridden a wave of support I have never seen in all my political life.
Our Headquarters reopened and thousands of volunteers show up here every day, every night, fighting for change. Fundraising has reached incredible heights, with over 100,000 Gotham citizens contributing their hard-earned money in support of Harvey Dents vow to take back Gotham.
Weve expanded our reach, opening branches in neighborhoods that havent seen political campaigns take them seriously for decades. And weve harnessed the incredible grassroots support by sending volunteers to knock on doors throughout the city. Amazingly, we will achieve our two millionth door knock sometime in between now and Election Day.
Harvey Dent has committed himself to lead the charge to take back our city, face down the criminal and corrupt and restore hope for our future.
Now, we need your help. We need to get out the vote!. And we need you to vote yourself. If you cant make it to the polls, go to www.gothamelectionboard.com and find out how you can vote online. Working together, we will take back Gotham!

Cheers Acadius but how did you know ; )? I SO want The Joker from The Dark Knight, but the price is going to be something else isn't it?
One good turn deserves another...
New Dark Knight trailer and Gotham Tonight http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=22740
I keep saying this but Heath Ledger's voice as The Joker and how it varies is brilliant, I love the delivery of "Where is Harvey Dent...I'll settle for his loved ones!". The pitch and pronounciations are perfect.
Any idea what The Joker is doing straight after that delivery as it's so quick, looks like The Joker is hitting someone from above? Certainly the best trailer since the first one in December.

The new Bat suit and how it was made taken from a French magazine (credit to the original translator!)

LINDY HEMMING and GRAHAM CHURCHYARD
Int - What makes Bruce Wayne's style different from James Bond's? (Lindy Hemming worked on several Bond movies)
LH - I'd say James Bond does not wear Armani. While that's exactly what Bruce Wayne wears. I think this suits perfectly his rich playboy persona. Armani designed all the suits specifically for the movie. They were hand-tailored and fit himm perfectly. James Bond has a slightly different look, he's harder to please. He pretends he's a playboy and not someone serious, and he's rather suave.
Int - What makes this Batsuit different from the previous one?
LH - It's an entirely new costume. It's what Chris and I were talking about while shooting [BB]without being able to make it come to life. When the movie starts he still wears the old suit but following certain events that happen in the course of the plot he gets this totally different suit. I would say it's a more modern armored suit, closer to what you'd see today in the military or motorbikes competitions. It's made from a metallic mesh, which is also more comfortable to wear as it allows your skin to breathe. The body is protected by this mesh but also by the metal plates that are attached to it. And for the first time, Batman is able to turn his head in all the directions thanks to the entirely new design we used to build the cowl. We maintained the typical Batman silhouette with his cape but we completely redesigned all the details and how all the things that make up the suit work together.
GC - The fact that he's able to turn his head makes a great difference. At the time Michael Keaton portrayed the character, it was a rather cheap suit and the mask was attached to the the rest of the body, which meant it was impossible for him to turn his head. That's how the "Bat-nod" came to be.
Int - Why was it impossible for him to turn his head in Batman Begins?
GC - Because of all the latex covering Bale's body... The costume was about 2 inches thick at the back of the neck as we chose to go back to a design in-between Keaton's and Clooney's Batsuits, let's say something along the lines of Kilmer's. Chris and Lindy wanted to maintain that menacing silhouette, the whole "intimidation game" that was going on in the shadows. To get that classical Batman look of him looking down with this huge, panther-like neck, we had no other choice but to have that much latex at the back of he neck, which impaired movement. While this time around, we looked at the way sports equipment is designed today, how they turn a simple running shoe into a high-tech item. It's all a question of heat control, suppleness, all those things that ultimately allowed us to build a new Batsuit which is not a sweat-sponge. The one from BB was built from a swimsuit, with molded latex pieces on top of it, which made the whole thing stifling. But it worked in the context of the former films, like Batman Returns where they had refrigerated sets. That's what we went for with Batman Begins. Chris wanted a very dark Batman who could literally blend in with the shadows. And with this suit, all the light created by the director of photography was instantaneously absorbed by the suit very much like a sponge.
LH - But this time around Batman is often seen in the light. Some of the scenes are actually very bright. That's why we wanted his suit to look more modern and logical.
Int - Actors who portrayed Batman in the past were complaining a lot about their costumes. Is this one the most comfortable to wear and were there less complaints?
GC - I don't really know whether Christian complained at all even during the shooting of Batman Begins. He would actually wear his costume all day long, minus the cowl.
LH - Well it's still a heavy suit because of the way we made it and the materials we used to build it, but it's also much more ventilated. It works on the same principles as sports equipment, it allows the heat to come out when you move, which brings a certain comfort. Nowadays you wouldn't wear a latex suit. And before Batman Begins, Batman's fighting style was different, but now they developed this new martial art called KFM so the suit had to allow him to crouch, lean and bend over... It all made those changes necessary.
GC - This suit is about 15 kilos heavy and even though it's more supple, it's also heavier than the one from Begins which was 12 kilos. But the older suits were like 20 kilos and more...
Int - How long does it take to put the suit on?
GC - About 25 minutes.
LH - It's a well-built suit. The mask splits like an actual helmet, with the neck and back staying in place while the front which is more rigid, can be taken off easily.
GC - Lindy worked from drawings by Jamie Rama. She had to design the exact spot where the suit would split. If you look at the comics you'll notice that the cape and cowl seem to be a single element. That's why we had to think about this very specific point. For example there was this scene in the script where Batman puts the cowl on like a soldier suiting up for his mission. He checks his equipment then puts the mask on.
Int - Have you given any thoughts to the controversy that might arise from this new departure in the design of the suit?
GC - Oh I don't think this suit will create any controversy. On the contrary, so far, the reactions are positive.
LH - I think we took a decision that's logical. I don't think there could be any controversy at all since it all revolves around the question of who really is Batman. And we decided to dress him up as he might do it himself if he were real, while keeping the elements that make him Batman in the comics. From my point of view this suit had to look as if it could exist in our real world. There's bound to be a few complaints about the result of course, but so far the feedback we got was positive.
[...]
Int - How many Batsuits did you build?
GC - There was 25 of them. And as many people working during six months to build them.
[...]
Int - Did the kevlar used to make the Batsuit actually made it bulletproof?
GC - Hmm... no.
LH - But it could protect you from a bad fall while riding a motorbike.
GC - We tested it for fire and water resistancy, but no actual bullets were fired on it, no.
Int - Let's talk about the weapons on the suit, such as the forearms blades. Did you test them?
GC - The blades on the suits were actually soft so the actor could manipulate them. But an actual firing-blades version was built, yeah.
LH - People do not realize how complex it is to design such a suit. They sometimes ask "What could you possibly have been doing for all these months?"
[...]
Int - Any new gadgets in the Batbelt?
GC - The cape, belt and boots are the ones already used in Batman Begins, but the belt has new gadgets for Batman to use in the different situations he will encounter.
[...]
Int - Can Christian hear everything from inside the cowl?
GC - Absolutely. And we can see how flexible the neck is.
LH - We knew we'd have to sacrifice the thickness of the neck for this to happen but we decided that it was worth the price.
[...]
Int - It all gives the impression that Batman is more agile...
LH - Yes, more athletic.
Int - How do you put the suit on?
GC - It's a one-piece suit with a zipper at the back. You need 25 minutes from the moment you enter the room to the moment you come back out all dressed up.
LH - And the thing that takes a lot of time to put on is the costume itself but the gloves, chest and shoulders are actually separate pieces that you put on top of the main suit.
GC - It kind of looks like protections for American footballers, or protective equipment for motorbikers. It would have been easier to attach the shoulder pads to the suit itself but we wanted to make sure he'd be able to perform complex moves, and that's why the shoulder pads are a separate entity and are attached at the back. So that when he's riding the Bat-pod he can still do some interesting moves.
LH - The legs were a bit harder to design because, once again, we wanted to give him more freedom of movement. That's why we couldn't allow the plates to touch each other.
GC - It's an interesting design and it grants a certain protection but we also had to make sure it would deal with the heat problems and that's why we used this mesh-type fabric.

THE family of WA's late film star Heath Ledger will attend a private Perth screening of The Dark Knight before flying to New York for the world premiere. Roadshow Film's Perth representative, Jason Dover, who is liaising between the Ledger family and Warner Bros studio, said: "They're definitely going to see the film before its release and they're definitely going to New York.'' Mr Dover said seeing the performance was part of the family's healing process. The new Batman film's red carpet premiere will be held on July 14 ahead of its July 17 worldwide release. "The plan is to just do a group family shot on the red carpet,'' Mr Dover said. ``There will be no press conference and no interviews.'' Ledger's role as the mass-murdering pyromaniac The Joker is already getting Oscar heat. But few actors have been nominated for a comic-book role, and only four actors in Oscar history have been posthumously nominated _ with only one winning. Director Christopher Nolan has already dedicated The Dark Knight to Ledger, who died of a prescription medication overdose five months ago. Mr Dover said the Perth premiere on the night before the release would be low key because Ledger's performance spoke for itself. "I don't need to talk it up, but it's going to go down as his finest performance and a big way to end in terms of it being a massive blockbuster,'' he said. "His stardom would have risen to that blockbuster status.'' Credit: http://www.news.com.au
Really classy move by WB. I think Nolan's right, it's going to be Ledger's most acclaimed performance. On the worldwide release date reported, is that now the case for the UK also?

New e-mail from Harvey Dent's campaign team I have recieved:
- Quote:
-
If someone were to tell me four months ago that Harvey Dent was going to win by the biggest margin in Gotham City history, I would have directed him to Arkham Asylum. But that’s the big story today. Thanks to the incredible efforts of people like you, we have changed the fate of Gotham City.
Harvey Dent won every precinct, every neighborhood, every demographic, and every gender and age group. His sweeping victory shows just how far the desire for real change goes in Gotham City.
This is not just Harvey Dent’s victory, it’s your victory. You passed out flyers, rallied, marched, created political videos, and got out and voted. You made your voices heard. And today, the entire world can hear you. Today, “Take Back Gotham” is not just a slogan – it is a reality.
This is the last campaign email we’re sending out. Now, we turn our energies to the hard job of fighting and winning the war on crime and corruption. We’ll need your help – to keep the pressure up on the politicians, to show the criminals our will, and to support Harvey Dent’s crackdown on corruption.
Together, we will save Gotham City.

A heart symbol tragic HEATH LEDGER scribbled on a letter to director TERRY GILLIAM's daughter HOLLY has been turned into a tribute tattoo by the cast and crew of his final film. Gilliam brought the letter to the set of The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus shortly after the Aussie actor died of an accidental overdose in January (08). Ledger was shooting the fantasy film when he passed away. Mini-Me Verne Troyer and select castmates decided to get Ledger's heart symbol duplicated and turned into a tattoo. Troyer, who wears his heart on his right hand, says, "A lot of us went and copied that heart and had it tattooed in remembrance to Heath."We had it copied identical to how he scribbled it."He reveals one of the people who chose to honour Ledger with the tattoo was the recipient of his heartfelt letter, Gilliam's daughter.

I love this picture and when I look at it, I'm sad Ledger won't see the prase the performance is getting, being able to do the media circuit to talk about how he took on the role (I guess we will have to wait for the DVD's extras for that) but of far greater importance, I'm feel sad for his family who have lost a son, brother and even a father.
