Since 2006 at another board I have being posting news on The Dark Knight and a couple of days ago the thread which began in 2007 with possible looks of The Joker passed the one year mark. Here's links for those who have not or want to revisit again what has being released:

The Dark Knight teaser trailer

The Dark Knight trailer

The Dark Knight LEAKED 2nd trailer

^See this one FAST as WB are asking for it to be removed from the usual streaming sits. If you don't see it, the official quality one is up this Sunday.

I'm a massive mega Batman fan, as he's my favourite superhero and for me Batman Begins was the greatest comic book movie of all time and The Dark Knight looks to be even better. I was in a very small minority who thought Heath Ledger would be an incredible Joker and he is who I think has silenced the detractors who are now in diminishing numbers. First of all I love the look of The Joker which looks creepy but more so than the look, it's how Heath Ledger's voice changes. From these trailers alone, many are saying Heath's performace as The Joker is now the definitive version. The Dark Knight has a all star cast including Christian Bale, one of my favourite actors but I can't see anything beating Heath Ledger's performance as The Joker as it's one of the most disturbing performances I can recall for quite some time. I must say Aaron Eckhartt looks a really good Two-Face who after The Joker (who for me is also the greatest villain of all time) is my 2nd favourite villain with his ties to Batman through the Wayne/Dent relationship as Dent was a man of good gone bad...

I'd love to see the film get some Academy award nominations (potentially Ledger perhaps?) but you know how stuffy the Oscars are. I have every confidence in Christopher Nolan giving everything time, and while The Dark Knight has the same amount going on as Spider-Man 3, Nolan will place it a hell of a lot better. I shouldn't really start it here but bringing it up Spider-Man 3 was the worst of the Spider-Man franchise by quite some distance when the first was very good and the second was even better. Still I'd probably revisit Spider-Man 3 over Blade: Trinity in the battle of the shitty threequels but both suck.

I honestly can't wait for this film and it's going to be fuckin torture waiting to see the film a week after the USA, hell me and my Dad have said that we are going to see it at midnight if need be.

My 1st post here, do I get a welcome party B-)

Apparently they can't release any promo images of Two Face because it's too gruesome for general consumption.

You see a little bit of the scarring in the new trailer but apparently there's alot of flesh decay and blood and such.

Can't wait to see how it turns out.

I do hope that's the case rather than the trying to create intrigue as it's too extreme approach when it really isn't. Granted we can see very little of the scarring on the trailer but it looks like Two-Face is rather badly bruend than acid scarred.

It's gonna take one hell of a performance to upstage Ledger's Joker and despite such a stellar cast and only seeing the trailers I doubt it. I was looking at a magazine yesterday which had a double page spread with an interview by Heath Ledger and Jack Nicolson discussing their performance of The Joker and a picture of both, and the Ledger one was the first Joker picture released and it still scares.

Heath Ledger Joker Toys Sell Out
By Christopher Campbell on May 6, 2008 at 11:15 am

The Dark Knight action figures are selling like hot cakes. Though like hot cakes, the toys won't be worth much in time.

Death sells. Movies. Apartments. You name it. So, it isn’t too surprising to learn that toys from the upcoming film The Dark Knight are flying off the shelves. According to the New York Post, action figures of The Joker, which are somewhat modeled after late actor Heath Ledger (I don’t see the resemblance, even in the more detailed figure) have sold out completely in New York City after debuting in stores a week ago. An employee of Toys “R” Us claimed the warehouse is all out, too, though a company spokesperson says stock of the figures will continue to be replenished.

Considering Mattel isn’t likely trying to cash in on Ledger’s death, there’s no reason to think the toys are in limited supply. So why are people buying them in bulk (one guy apparently bought 30 at one time) and/or selling them on eBay for marked-up prices? Even if there is an extreme demand for the figures now, there won’t be much interest in the future. Especially if Mattel’s entire run is enough to supply all the toy stores in the U.S. (not to mention the rest of the globe). Collector’s item it may be, but not in terms of financial investment. It just won’t be enough of a rarity in the long run.

For those who still think it’s going to be worth it to buy the figures in bulk or for $20 a piece, just check out the eBay listings. There’s a ton of them, and few of them have bids. Imagine what the same page will look like in a year, or two, or twenty (OK, in twenty years it might be worth $20 tops). Personally, I think nothing is worth collecting for financial gain in a world in which the internet exists, mainly because I saw my entire comic book collection go down in price thanks to the world-decreasing powers of eBay. But hey, if you want something to throw into a box with all your “Death of Superman” comics, feel free to spend your money how you wish.

I was thinking today that the 3rd film could be stunning but will be difficult to better The Dark Knight for the mainstream and hardcore fans it's generating as you can't get any better than Batman vs. The Joker, the greatest respective hero/villian in comic book history going at it as isn't it a bit anti-climatic from then on?

We talked about this on the old days of The Talk Lounge and XF.. That movies just flat out owns. Christian Bale is amazing, Ledgers last performance, Freeman, Caine, it's going to be unbelievable, I'll be there opening night as I was last time for this movie.

I think the third film, focused on Two Face as the baddie, could very well be one of the best films ever, simply because there is so much to work with as a character.

Even with Ledger's performance and the hooplah surrounding his death, people are going to compare him with Nicholson, who admittedly was great.

But Eckhart has the chance to play the DEFINITIVE Two-Face. To atone for Tommy Lee Jones' wretched attempt.

The third film will not disappoint, this I promise.
