The name of the new Metallica album has finally been revealed on the band’s official website: Death Magnetic. The album’s title had slowly been hinted throughout last week, first simply with two magnets before additional letters began appearing. All was finally revealed Saturday, as the suddenly-tech-savvy band confirmed the title in the form of wallpapers. The group’s Mission Metallica site confirmed the title as well, promising their new Rick Rubin-produced album will be out in September.

Thanks for this. Metallica are my all time favourite band, and I doubt (or should I say hope like hell) Death Magnetic (liking the name) can be any worse than fucking St. Anger. I'll tell you, I felt said emotion after listening to that shit.

I for one like St. Anger, but will admit it did take a couple listens for me to really get into it. It still sounded better than 99% of everything else released at the time...it just wasn't what fans wanted or expected and they can't get over it.

I'm always looking forward to a new Metallica album. I'm not digging the title, but hey, as long as it's Metallica...

Anyway, I hope this coincides with, or is released shortly before Guitar Hero: Metallica is released in 2009.

We Are SEX BOB-OMB!

Release date is supposedly this September.

I liked St. Anger too, but the underproduced garage rock sound turned alot of people off as it didn't sound like Metallica at all.

From the early listening sessions for this one I've been hearing nothing but good things so it's likely that the new album should be fairly decent.
