True. I just wonder when this continuing carosel (sp?) of managers is going to end. Just because a manager doesn't get us to one set of finals, doesn't mean he's completely useless, but the FA don't seem to get that. Success doesn't come overnight. |

Unfortunately not all of the managers we've had have been good enough. Sven was... ok. He did enough not to get fired, but then the fans were running out of patience fast, he couldn't keep his trousers on, and then there was the whole fake Shiekh scandal. McClaren was an unpopular choice to begin with, so he had to perform to a higher standard then Sven just to keep his job. Had he taken England to the Euro's, then he would have survived past the championships. But he couldn't get us through in a group that contained Croatia and Russia. Croatia performed superbly, but to not even scrape through in second place in unforgivable for a national coach. I suspect that under Capello we will at least reach the next World Cup, and though the standard set is the semi's, I think we'll do well to pass the second round, depending on the opposition of course. |
