Overview
The game will star Batman fighting crime in Gotham City. An early build for the PS2 console was shown at certain conferences (such as at Game On in London) by designer Jonathan Smith, with a small playable area sporting the exact same HUD as Lego Star Wars II. Characters on screen each have individual animations and both Batman and Robin have their original TV show dressing style. There will be 36 levels in the game (18 heroes and 18 villains). After you play through the level from the heroes' perspective you will unlock the level from the villains' perspective. A similar grappling system to the one used in Lego Star Wars II will be used. The style of the game will focus more on the Batman: The Animated Series and comics rather than the new movies. Batman, Robin, The Joker, The Penguin, Catwoman, Killer Croc, Scarecrow, The Riddler, and Harley Quinn will be some of the playable characters. It is rumored that Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, Bane, and Two-Face will also be playable due to the fact that they are already a part of the Lego Batman franchise. Two levels involving Batman and Robin chasing Catwomen with a diamond, and a level where Joker and Harley Quinn are in a theme park level, ending with a boss battle against Commissioner James Gordon, have already been tested. Also, in the trailer, there is footage of a player swapping characters, and a version of Robin with scuba gear on is shown as a playable character. Developer Jonathan Smith stated that the company will be developing more Lego games in the future.

I'm pumped for LEGO Batman as while I didn't play the Star Wars versions (as I'm not a fan of Star Wars) the gameplay and look of the game looks fantastic. Long time overdue that Batman finally gets a computer game. Gonna feel sorry for the player stuck in multiplayer with Robin.

I can't understand why LEGO Indiana Jones comes out the same time as the film while LEGO Batman doesn't come out with The Dark Knight as it would have been perfect so I wish it was same for LEGO Indiana Jones (which as a side note I won't play as I'm not a fan of that either). Sounds like the wait will be worth is judging by how high you rate the LEGO Star Wars games and finally Batman gets a quality game which is richly deserved. Hell could make an argument that Batman games are worse than Superman ones which really is saying something.

I’m surprised the movie route wasn’t taken like LEGO Star Wars & LEGO Indiana but I’m glad for more characters...and who the hell wants to relive Batman & Robin? There are two campaigns of 18 levels for heroes and villains but the hero’s side sounds arguably poorer although do you play as THE Batman, but also Robin so as a result there are different suits with different abilities for them. I just hope on co-op Batman can team up with a villain which will be surreal as I’m not gonna be stuck with fucking Robin.

I wish although the only common link is the characters Batman and The Joker LEGO Batman came out with The Dark Knight like LEGO Indiana with Indiana Jones 4. LEGO Batman reminds me less of the comics and more like Batman: The Animated Series which is stellar for me as I adore ti and plan to do a post about in due course here.

I ordered it yesterday and right now the release date is scheduled for October which if so, will be one hell of a month for Batman as The Dark Knight will likley be released also as it shared Batman Begins release date if I recall. Be intresting to see which of the three LEGO games are rated the best and the worst by the critics, I feel Batman's rating may be hampered as it's the third and familarity may breed contempt but reviewers with long memories may rate it more highly whe you consider Batman has had some truly terrible games despite the richness of the material avaliable to developers. 'Bout fucking time Batman got a good game.

Joker and Harley trailer

Interview with LEGO Batman producer

As great as this looks, my biggest highlight in The Joker/Harley trailer was hearing the opening credits music to Batman: The Animated Series used in the cutscenes! If any more music from Batman: The Animated Series is used throughout, this would make my experience playing the game all the more sweeter! I'd love the Two-Face music to be in when you use Two-Face as it's probably my favourite piece of music from Batman: The Animated Series.

Am I hearing/reading too much into things when I say The Joker sounds like he is being voiced by Mark Hamill?

The Mother Fucking Princess

I've never played the LEGO games myself but I've watched the kids at work play the Star Wars one, and I have to say it looks nifty, so I might be checking this out.

hehehehe, I'm loving Bane...

I see we have a Bane fan in the house. I read that Bane's powers in the game include super strength and the ability to walk through toxic gages unaffected. The villians I'm most looking forward to use is first and foremost The Joker, Two-Face, The Riddler and Mr. Freeze (although Bane runs him close) in that order. The heroes I'm most looking forward to play as are Batman (naturally), Nightwing and then Robin.

According to wikipedia, the developers gave an interview on IGN (which I have tried looking for with no such luck) that Man-Bat will also be a playable villian. Out of the big name villians, the only one which seems to be missing and has not being confirmed yet is Poison Ivy. With all these villians outnumbering the superheroes, is there a chance (I have only just considered this now) that Superman will be a suprise addition to the ranks or will that wait for a potential Superman/Justice League LEGO title? I think I'd rather play as Superman than Robin although I'm not a fan of both frankly.

Who are you most looking forward to use on the heroes/villians campaign Acadius?
