So should he be highly ranked at 170 and in line for a title shot? Here's a brief, but well known and recent history of Thiago Alves (I really, really want to love the guy, he's a great fighter and very exciting, but comes off as a complete tool before and after every fight). *Failed a drug test when busted for taking pills to help cut weight in January *Can't make weight to face Matt Hughes. If the guy can't even be bothered to make weight or has to resort to banned drugs to do it for him, is he worthy of anything? |

Short answer? No. Expanded answer: Credit to Hughes for taking the fight despite Alves not making the weight, but maybe in hindsight he shouldn't have (and boy the UFC would have being drowning in shit if Hughes didn't considering the numerous changes to the card). Alves had some nerve asking for a Title shot when he could not make weight (Lutter was the worst and has paid for it ever since, idiot and the same adjective applies to Alves also). Hughes is my boy and a freaking Warrior. He takes on all comers and all fights.. Just from knowing the guys I know, I bet Thiago outweighed Hughes by 20lbs and that's HUGE in the freaking Fight Game. Not to mention he had a faster track back to rehydration as well. NO, Thiago doesn't deserve a fucking title shot. Just listen to what Matthew Riddle says about Thiago not making weight and how it's disrespectful to the Sport and a Legend like Hughes. |
