What this cookie does may worry some of you. Whenever you visit a website with Google ads on it, the cookie records this, building up a picture of what you’re interested in. So if, for example, you visit lots of websites about sport, Google will notice this and serve you with more sport-related ads.
Is this the Curse of Big Brother, or just a smart way to advertise? What do you think?

Well,its a bad system.
Google makes a kind of a profile of you,and the most important thing you want in the internet,is being anonymous.
And,btw, google will maybe "manipulate" your search,so that you will get wrong results.Maybe.
In that case, the Curse of Big brothe,i think...

P.S.:Forgive me my errors in the grammatic,im still in progress...-.o

Interesting idea. Google notices that you visit lots of sites about Harry Potter, so the next time you search for the classic TV show "The Prisoner" it says, "Did you mean: The Prisoner of Azkaban?"

Do you think that might be the next stage?

Bit of a stupid idea I must admit. People don't like spyware, yet Google are basically "spying" on your searching habits.

In other words, Google is turning into a virus making machine.

On the other hand, Google is offering a way to opt out. This came to light because they wrote to me saying I should explain how to opt out of this cookie on my site's privacy policy.

Does that make it OK?

No. They should not be "offering" this kind of service.
