The Senate of Nova de Lisboa is the Upper House of the Royal Congerss. It is far more prestigious and influential than the Chamber of Deputies but just as fragmented. The Senate has several exclusive powers not granted to the Chamber, including consenting to treaties as a precondition to their ratification and consenting or confirmation of appointments of Cabinet secretaries, High Court judges, other executive officials, military officers, regulatory officials, ambassadors, and other uniformed officers, as well as trial of federal officials impeached by the Chamber. The Senate is both a more deliberative and more prestigious body than the Chamber of Deputies, due to its longer terms, smaller size, and larger constituencys.

There are six parties in the Senate. The 100 seats are dominated by three parties that have 67 seats together. However the third party in the Senate, which is also the third party in the Chamber of Deputies, Monarquia has decided to disband after internal difficulties. Usually 35 seats would be up for election but now 43 seats are up for grabs, whicih could change the power balance in the Senate and the nation.

Coalizão Conservadora, the largest party in the nation, is likely to sustain large losses with 17 of it;s seats up for grabs. Many people belive the party has let the people down, corruption and national debt have soared furing it's governance.

Nacional e da Defesa do Grupo Nova de Lisboa is the rising party. A Far-Right national party that has recently come out with a radical plan to create first, second and third class citizenships. This comes as good news to over 80% of the population who would be get a job without any trouble. They also think the military should be larger.

Liga Socialista are the Socialist Party of the nation. Popular with the working class they are for the aboloishment of the monarchy and becoming close to Nentsia and Aus'tiana. They have a large following with the native population and are against the National Partiers citizenship plans 100%. They are against enlarging the military.

Democratas Católicos recently came second in the First-Minister elections this party is likely to gain seats in the Senate this year. Currently they have 13 and will likely suplant Coalizão Conservadora as the leading Catholic Party in the nation. They are slightly right winged. And are totally against the military enlargment and the Citizenship plans. In fact they would decrease the military to around 20,000 men (10% of the current size.)

OOC: I hold 50% of the vote
