With the assasination of the First-Minister last month a state funeral was held. The King announced that the People had never had a greater leader and yet many have said the 75 year old First-Minster was not very good. Under his rule national debt as a percentage of GDP exceeded 40%, corruption went to new highs and the isolationist policy of the government was continuned. In the Government there are 13 Parties. However not all of them support a candidate from their own party as only a few parties have a chance of winning. Instead they usually back another party's candidate for a place on the First-Minster's Cabinet. Three parties, that usually dominate the nations politics, have announced their First-Minster candidates. One party that has not announced it's support is Protecção da Floresta, and although it is the fourth largest party in the Chamber of Deputies it has no seats in the Senate. Coalizão Conservadora- The leading Party of the nation, by a slim majority. It holds 40/300 seats in the Chamber of Deputies and 25/100 in the Senate. A Conservative Party that has ruled the nation for the last 15 years under the previous First-Minister, however it is unlikely to win due to the huge national debt and corruption it has left behind. A slightly right win party it belives in the following: Social conservatism, Fiscal conservatism, Economic liberalism. Nacional e da Defesa do Grupo Nova de Lisboa- With 37/300 seats in the Chamber and 22/100 in the Senate the party is the Second largest in the nation. A far right party it has attracted support for it's ideas about incrasing the military budget and personnel with the sole intention of fighting the Drug Lords and ending Corruption. Described as the National and even Fascist Party of Nova de Lisboa it has a authoritarian nationalist political ideology. They believe in believe that a nation is an organic community that requires strong leadership, singular collective identity, and the will and ability to commit violence and wage war in order to keep the nation strong. They want to ally, and support, other nationalist and expansionist regimes. Democratas Católicos- The fourth Party in the Chamber and the third in the Senate the Democratic Catholics belive in Christian Democracy. They are a Liberal Party that belive in small government. Instead of fighting the war on Drrugs they want to leaglaise Drugs, as many studies show legalising drugs lowers their use. However they do not want to legalise just cannabis etc but all and every Drug. Candidates: Name: Tiago Alberto Valerio Age: 59 Coalizão Conservadora Name: Sancho Duarte Velasco Age: 46 Nacional e da Defesa do Grupo Nova de Lisboa ![]() Name: Hugo Lourenço Mário Age: 55 Democratas Católicos- Edited by Cour, 15 Feb 2011, 08:53 PM.
